A Good Word for a Monday Morning

Hey, Darling Siestas! I’m back at my desk at Living Proof Ministries, Melissa is back at hers in Atlanta, and AJ and her family are about to board a plane and head home from vacation. Hallelujah! Whatever this wild family’s normal is, we’re happily returning to it. I have not seen my baby girl in two and a half months, a near-record for us, and she’s heading from Atlanta to Houston on Wednesday. We have an in-house ministry thing she’s coming to attend as well as Miss Annabeth Ellen Jones’s baby dedication at our church. We are looking so forward to our family all being back together again. If I don’t get those grandbabies back in my arms soon, there’s gonna be heck to pay.

Actually, I could have kept all that family news to myself except that I had you on my mind, particularly in view of some heavy things I’ve read in the last 24 hours. I just thought I’d share a verse with you that I have right in front of me today at my desk. And, yes, jotted down on an index card. And, no, it’s not a memory verse (yet). Just an encouragement verse and I wondered if somebody could use it today. It’s Psalm 94:18-19 out of the New English Translation:

If I say, “My foot is slipping,” Your loyal love, O Lord, supports me. When worries threaten to overwhelm me, Your soothing touch makes me HAPPY.”

If perchance worries are threatening to overwhelm you this Monday morning, I pray that You will sense His soothing touch…and it will make you purely happy. Maybe even giddy. We could use some giddy today.

I love you, Siestas. Take heart! Jesus has overcome the world!

Thank you. My college age son is staying at school this summer to work. We moved him to an apartment yesterday. He is only an hour away but it feels much farther. While we were driving there yesterday I listened to my ipod with your son-in-laws message about worry and now today you post this Bible Verse. God knows what I need to hear. I will write this verse out and carry it with me. Thanks again!

Oh,how our Lord is “personally providential” (I think someone real smart wrote that, and I just read it this morning ๐Ÿ™‚ We just got about 10 inches of rain in the last week and my husband is a farmer…this wet weather has the potential to destroy our livelihood, so worry is definitely threatening to overcome us, but the Lord offers happiness instead!
Thanks for the encouragement! It was just what I needed!

    Sylvia,

Just wanted to send you a note of encouragement today. I know what it is to be so overwhelmed with things that are going on that are out of our control. I will be praying for you and your son/son’s family.

Keep your eyes on Jesus. He is our Creator and He will uphold us in our time of trouble.

I too have miscarried a child. I’m truly sorry for your loss and deeply wish I could hug you right now. May the Lord reveal His deep love to you in a way you’ve never experienced before as you walk this journey of grief. Please know in your heart that this loss is NOT your fault. There is nothing you did to cause it and nothing you could’ve done to prevent it. Check out mend.org. It is a Christian organization for mothers who have endured loss.

I needed that verse too. I have been so down lately. Wondering why God’s plan for me hurts so much and trying to find the joy He calls us to have in the midst of difficulties. I feel so beaten down and so discouraged at relationship problems in our family. I have a brand new grandbaby that I don’t get to see because of issues with my daughter. Breaks my heart.

Thank you Beth for listening when God speaks. I’m soaking the encouraging words in! God is moving in our lives and last week He answered a prayer in an amazing way.

We are Pastoring a struggling little church and God just keeps reaffirming to us that He is in control no matter what people say or do. You know ministry would be easy if people would lay down their own agendas for HIS…and if they didn’t eat their Pastor for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and then spit him out! My husband is discouraged but God is granting encouragment in HIS timely fashion as He always comes thru and never leaves us!

By the way I just have to say that tomorrow we will be celebrating our 19th wedding anniversary and this has to be among one of the hardest years we have had in our 19 years of ministry together…but PRAISE GOD He has walked through it with us!

    Love you Beth!

I just read the blog from May 9th and when I got to the end and read He is IT, I laughed out loud. I had the sweet opportunity to pray at a baby shower a few weeks ago. I stumbled and stuttered trying to come up with the word I wanted to use to describe who God was to those of us in the room. All I could say is God you are IT over and over again. Afterwards I thought are you kidding, IT is all you could come up with? He is our all in all, He is awesome, beyond all measure, etc. But Beth you are right, He is IT!! God gave me the perfect words for that gathering. Thanks for making my day.
    Love you dearly Bible Lady,

Can I ever relate. I went through Mother’s Day feeling like a fraud. I could think only of all my failures as a mom. My husband and I have a sweet child who brings us many challenges due to some learning disorders, and other issues, and we have very little support. There are times when I can worry myself sick over all I am unable to do, and feel so far from accomplishing anything of real worth. Worry overtakes my heart.

Thankyou for the reminder that God is always there for me. What a blessed thought and comfort.

    Beth,

Thanks for the verse! My older brother is a pilot in the Army and is being deployed to Afghanistan for one year. He has a wife and four children under the age of eight. This is his second tour in Afghanistan, but my heart is slowly sinking as we draw near to his departure date. I know better than to worry, for God’s arm is not too short to save, but there are moments when I am gripped with fear. Thank the LORD for HIS TRUTH!

Those were my memory verses on April 15, as a matter of fact…but I chose the Message version and learned verses 17-19… Here’s what 17 says in the Message, “If God hadn’t been there for me, I never would have make it!” That is the story of my life! There’s no way I would have made it this long – on this planet – without Him!

    Dear Beth,

The Holy Spirit knew that many of us would check in to your Blog today hoping for a word from God and because of your obedience we got it!

I so struggle with wanting to please God, but instead of letting HIM do it through me, I try to figure out on my own how HE wants me to do it instead of listening to Him. He will show me if I let Him.

Again, I surrendered to HIS way to heal my deep pain from divorce and to use me to HIS glory.

    Loving you!

Yesterday’s blog was rough, wasn’t it? I had to come back many times to read the entries. Just too hard to take it all in, at one sitting. My heart was breaking a bit more after each reading…either because they were so darn sweet or sadly…because of so much pain.

Thank-you for that verse Beth. Looks like one I’ll be adding to my spiral notebook, very soon.

And speaking of very soon…We (Miesta Moose and I) will be seeing you and OTHER Siestas in 11 days. Watch out Laramie!!!

    O my, My foot slippeth,but thy mercy O Lord….
He knew ,the Lord just knew I was going to have a hateful thought about that driver who knew construction had narrowed 2 lanes to one in our town and he kept pushing to get up ahead and thinking someone will let him in….You all know what my hateful thought was… well let him have to set there till we are all past and fall in behind us…. Like jumping the lunch line….
O Lord forgive me and sanctify my attitude ,cleanse me from my secret faults O Lord..
Maybe he needed to get to school to pick up a sick kid or something.
