Quick Check

Hey, Darling Things! I just have the quickest moment to post an update. The Moores and Joneses are six hours from Houston in our Cactusland and far from cell/internet service. We came into a nearby town to worship today and right this moment we’re in a delightful little restaurant where we – and the entire community’s Lutherans, Methodists, and Baptists – are grabbing lunch. From what we hear, our properties and those of our staff members are either fine or have sustained minimal damage, may the Lord be praised!! Keith and I learned that our fence is down and we lost a couple of trees but our home is ok. The ministry building, which is surrounded by tall trees, is untouched. We were floored and so blessed. Many, many Houstonians – friends and loved ones included – took serious hits. The home of one of my dear friends was completely flattened. Several of our big churches also sustained considerable damage. We are among several million Houstonians who still don’t have power so we’re sitting tight until we get a green flag to head home. This is a great time for control freaks to exercise surrender. Needless to say, we are hoping for a green light soon. About half of our staff members stayed in town and trust me when I tell you that Houston/Galveston is NOT where you want to be this time of year with no electricity or fresh water. Please pray for them. For Heaven’s sake, pray for everybody in this part of the country. So many lost so much. We also thank God so much for not allowing Ike to have all the power he wanted.

We don’t know about Bible study Tuesday night. Doesn’t look promising at this point but we’ll keep you posted. Things could happen fast, God willing. I will DEFINITELY head to Billings, Montana, this weekend, so no threat there.

We love y’all like crazy, care about you so much, and thank you with all of our hearts for your prayers. We will ask God to spread them lavishly all over our region.

We hope to be back in touch very soon!!

Thank you for the update! I have been praying for all of you and the whole area; praise God that you are all okay. Also wanted to say that I was at the Deeper Still Event in Las Vegas and it literally changed my life. My relationship with God did go deeper and I was one of the ladies who came forward to lay down once and for all the list of things the enemy kept dredging up. Thank you, dear Beth for that. Blessings to you all – deeply changed in Salt Lake

    Dear Beth and all:
I have been praying for all of you during Ike’s determination to create havoc in everyone’s life. I’m praising God that He who created the winds and the rain will also show His omnipotence in the response of fellow believers who reach out to help so many in need. Our ladies group is thankful for you and your ministry!

    Hey Sweet Girls,
I am so glad to hear from you and to know that you all are safe. You and all of your families have been in my constant thoughts and prayers. What a mess a hurricane can make both of our material and emotional lives at times, but thanks to God nothing is so big that we can’t somehow get throughit. My prayers will continue to be with all of my Texas Siestas.

Dearest Mama Beth, You have been on my mind so much. Thank you, Jesus, that You have shown Yourself so mighty, both in the storm and in Your mercy. I pray for my sisters in Houston/Galveston. May they find You in the devastation that they are facing. You are our Deliverer and Redeemer. And thank you, Jesus, that what was meant for our harm, You have meant for our good. Only You can bring resurrection from destruction. Will pray for a speedy return for the Moores and Joneses to Houston. Love, Shawn

    hey Beth and family,
Thank you so much for letting us know you are all safe. I will keep your area families and churches in my prayers. I will be in Billings on Friday to see you, however if for some reason you needed to cancel because of ‘Ike’. I would get that. Blizzards are what we have in Wyoming but nothing beats the devastation from a hurricane. I will also pray for your safe travel this week and the Lord to bless you in preparation for our Spirit journey and what God has to say to me.

We are praying for all those affected by Ike. I know God allows these things so we learn to trust him and some will suffer loss. Thankfully it is not the kind of loss that threatens our salvation! I know we have it so much easier nowadays. Imagine if we did not have advance warning!

    Beth,

Glad to hear you are all ok. I know that there will be many who are hurting after Ike… We will be praying for those who are now facing the clean up efforts. I will be praying for courage to face the difficult task ahead, patience as you wait for those who will be helping you (insurance folks, contractors and so forth) and for peace as each deals with their specific loss.

We have walked this road before with Isabel on the East Coast, so we certainly feel your pain.

You all have been in my thoughts and prayers. A gentleman from our church here in Colorado had a sister in Bridge City. She didn’t evacuate and had to be rescued by helicopter yesterday. It’s hard to request considering my request seems unnnecessary compared to what everyone’s experiencing with Ike- but please pray for me- it’s been 11 years of waiting on the seed–an unfaithful husband, a child hurt severely- praise God he is ok- financial burdens, and yes much more–so please pray that my heart can be drawn back to Christ- i’ve been off the blog for a year and miss it–but my spirit is weary and my soul is aching for the dissappointment to wain. Thanks Beth for your perseverence and faith. Love, Shell

Continuing to pray for all that have lost property and have been through so much with this storm. I praise the Lord the LP ministry building is okay. I watched through the early morning hours on Sunday; watching the Fox news anchor clinging to the palm tree in Galveston, and it reminded me to keep praying for all the dear sisters in TX… I pray for their strength and patience as many will begin the clean up, and for those without power and water… God be with you!!

    Hi Miss Beth,

I am so glad [and yes, I do mean jumping up and down glad] that most of Y’all were able to get out of the Houston area !!!

However, I have several friends who live to the NW of downtown Houston, and they were forced to ride it out.

And, although they are praising God that their homes are okay [for those people that I was able to talk to, anyways], they are having to deal with being without both electricity and water ! Eeks!

But, they are sisters in Christ, so I am praying that they can stay strong throughout this ordeal…

    Love in Christ Jesus,

I’m so thankful you all are safe – I’m sure the next weeks and months will be quite a time of reaching out to your neighbors … loving your neighbors … I’ll be praying that as you do so, they will see Christ in you.

I’m giving thanks for his everlasting love this morning, for his provision, for his amazing joy that he sets before us. We didn’t make it back to Houston last evening from the airport, but as God would provide, there was a nice hotel right in the airport. We slept well last night and at 3:53 a.m. (CST) we are sitting in the airport awaiting our flight back to Houston. We slept well (all 4 hours) and the best part was I showered and had coffee so I feel like I can take on the day (or night) No telling what awaits us, (no gas, no power, no water so far and some flooding,) but we have been blessed once again to know His ever-catching, ever-preserving Hand–and the best time this weekend with friends–how sweet is that! Love,
