Just Catching Up

Hey Siestas! I haven’t had a chance to just shoot the breeze with you lately. It’s Friday night and Keith won’t be home for a while. I’ve got the Olympics on and my feet propped up and I thought I’d touch base with some of my favorite girls on earth. Here are a few random things going on in the life of your very own Siesta Mama.

1. Keith and I are totally in love with our puppies! If what we were looking for was some high life in the Moore home, we certainly got it. Most of the time our house looks like we run a daycare center. Between Jackson and 2 puppies, we have toys from pillar to post. Star and Geli are crazy about each other and most of the time insist on playing with exactly the same toy, one biting one end and the other biting the other end. They even like to share the same chew. I’ve never seen anything like it. Geli stays with Keith during the week days and Star goes with me to work so we have a very enthusiastic reunion every workday evening. We still miss our old girls so much. I bawled about Beanie again just a few days ago. But we are so thankful to have these new babies to spoil. Geli is honestly one of the cutest puppies you’ve ever seen in your life. I’m talking ADORABLE. Star, on the other hand, is the smartest. (And, yes, she’s mighty cute, too, but Geli honestly is gorgeous. German Shorthairs are beautiful specimens.) You can’t believe what my little smarty pants has accomplished in three and a half months however. She can sit, fetch, jump, walk on a leash, bring me the leash, and come give me kisses when I ask her to. She constantly tries to anticipate what I’m about to do. Every morning when I grab the keys, she heads to the car and hops right up in her seat. Loves to even sit in Jackson’s carseat in my SUV so that she has a good view. Danged amazing. I’m nuts about her. She is the mascot of Living Proof Ministries. My whole staff loves her. She knows exactly who offices where. When she’s full grown, I’m going to get her one of those capes like the mascot at Texas A & M wears only ours is going to have “LPM” on it. Yep. She’ll be darling. As it is, she wears a different color bandanna every day. I have lots of nicknames for her: Starry Starry Night, Rock Star, Starlet, Stardom, and on patriotic holidays, Stars and Stripes. If she’s running really fast, she’s Shooting Star.

2. I am getting to catch my breath for five minutes after a hard summer. I appreciated one of you commenting that I seemed rested or peaceful (you used the word “soft” – I’m going to take that as a compliment as long as you don’t mean my arms) in the most recent Siesta video. You were so sweet to notice. It has been a difficult couple of months for a number of reasons and what you discerned was that I’ve recently come out from under a considerable measure of the stress. We are putting the final editorial touches on Esther and, before we know it, it will go to print after eighteen months of work. I will miss it so much but I will also be very relieved to see this baby girl birthed. I am never happier (ministry-wise) than when I’m working on a Bible study because I so love the process – hard as it is – BUT wrapping one up and getting it to print on time and in tact is always extremely stressful. Add to that about a dozen other things – some of them personal and painful – and you’ve got yourself a challenging summer. Thank you all for your prayers. You will never waste one on me. Please say another for me and for all of us who will seek the Presence of the Lord next weekend in San Antonio. I want to see Him there so badly.

3. Curtis, Melissa, and I are doing the neatest thing this Fall. The sanctuary at our church has been under reconstruction all summer. Since we weren’t positive they’d finish on time for our Fall study, we decided we better do something smaller for one semester so we weren’t dependent upon the sanctuary. For the last year or so the fire’s been burning in us to construct and teach a Bible intro class to a smaller group we could really invest in. I want to know my class members names, for crying out loud! I’ve been dying to teach my own rendition of the series I took years ago in my twenties that lit such a passion in me. And I don’t even have to tell you that this subject matter is right up Melissa’s alley. When we considered that we might not have access to the sanctuary in time to begin, we knew the time was NOW. We’re calling it “Lit” based on the verse out of Jeremiah where the Lord says, “Is not My word like fire?” We’ll teach things like where the Bible comes from (transmission) and what on earth you do with it (Bible study methods). We’ll go back to some basics and actually learn the Books of the Bible (yes, to a song, and, no, not by ourselves in front of the class!) and find out all sorts of cool things about how the Word of God got into the hands of regular people. Melissa and I are team teaching a “graded” class of 18-25 year-old young women (she’ll be able to make 5 of the 10 classes) and Curtis is teaching the same material (one week later) to an ungraded class of both men and women. I’ll be looking in on his class and getting to know them a bit and he’ll be looking in on mine and doing the same. The whole semester will be a team effort. We kept the classes small so we can really invest in these lives. It’s a free course but we took sign-ups this time since we had limited space. Both classes are full (which surprised me, by the way. I wasn’t sure how many people would be interested in a Bible intro course) but I thought you’d get a kick out of knowing what we’re doing and might stop and pray for us. We’ll wait and see if God has any further plans for this concept. I don’t know if we’ll end up working it into a series to be published or not. We’re just going to give our all to these two groups and let God take it from there. Oh, Sister. God completely changed my life with the study of His Word. I want every person on earth – particularly every woman I encounter – to know the transforming power of Christ and the Truth that sets the most hopeless captive free. It was the turning point for me. Even this morning in research for this course, I wept over the beauty of Christ displayed on the pages of Scripture. I am convinced He will give ANY willing soul an insatiable love for Him and His Word…a spirit of wisdom and revelation to know Him better.

Well, Starzy (my favorite nick name for her) is about to wet her pants (no, she doesn’t really wear any. She’s smart but not that smart) so I better sign off and go out in the backyard with her. It’s been storming so she might need some moral support. You know how women are about going to the ladies’ room in groups.

Oh, and our Little Fig is a darling little Lemon now! Amanda’s feeling better every day. Thanks for praying! We are already falling in love with that precious one and can’t wait to hold a newborn in our arms again.

I love you guys so much. Have a great weekend! And believe God for something BIG. He’s so capable.

Thanks for sharing. It is good to hear an update. I would love to see a picture of Geli too! I grew up with shorthairs, so they have a tender place.

Your new class sounds exciting. I will be praying for wisdom and strength. I will also be praying that God maximizes the rest you are having, blessing you 100 fold.

God is calling us to a new adventure. Some of our family is excited, I have trepidation, but am trusting that if He is moving in this direction, He is in this boat with us. Come what may. Why do we find so much security in what we know?

Let the wind blow Lord. I choose to trust you.

    Love to all,

Sara — as Roxanne wrote earlier — thank you for paying attention to that little voice in your heart calling you to care for your precious child. God loves you and that baby so much! Our world would be less without you both in it. You’re on my heart and in my prayers, with so much love. Hard to believe, isn’t it, that a total stranger could love and care about you. But that’s what God’s love does. I’m praying that you will know that love is real through some person close to you. God has a plan!

The last 2 sentences of your blog was a great reminder to me that I do not walk this road of life alone. Sometimes I am so busy trying to do what is right in life that I forget how big and capable God is. What a relief! Thank you.

    Beth,

Spent last night in Houston with my husband. We had a great time together. Glad I didn’t run into you bcs. that Houston humidity is horrible when you have naturally curly hair and tons of product. Houston reminds me of the home state MS. Boy is the humidity bad there too. Hopefully San Antonio will be nicer on our do’s. See you next weekend.

    Sara,

God is so in love with you. Praying you will hear Him as He calls out to you.

This is such an issue with me right now. I have been doing your bible studies and others for years now and I absoutely love them. They were what I needed.

But lately I have been feeling the pull to get into the Word for myself. To pull up closer to God and ask him the questions on my mind and get the answers directly from Him.

But I have been feeling overwhelmed lately. I am not sure where to start. I feel like an actor with stage fright..stuck and frozen in position when I sit down in the morning for my quiet time.

I just don’t know what to start, I don’t know what to do, where to go. I have a journal, and can’t seem to put pen to paper.

I would sure love it if you would consider making your small bible study a future topic for one of your own LPM bible studies. Teaching women how to get into the Word…where to started, different methods of study, how to go about learning scripture…all those tips and things you’ve learned along the way that have helped you.

In one of your studies, you mentioned how when you first started, you bought all the cutest supplies you could find. You attended your first class, ready with the hippest markers, latest gadgets and books and the sweetest looking notebooks, and then you met a man that was so on fire for God, that you “Just wanted what he had” when it came to a relationship with God.

Life has come full circle for you. That is how I feel when I do one of your bible studies. I want to get to a point where I can discern, learn, listen and hear what you do when you walk with God in your own garden. Thank you for constantly spurring me on to more in my own walk.

    Hey Mamma Beth!
It’s Sat. afternoon and I just now had time to catch up with you! Glad your pups are bringing you such joy and delight. God is like that, isn’t He….brings delight in the big and the little things.
I have been with my daughter since last night with 5 nine year olds at a swimming, spend the night party. Needless to say, I caught a few winks but not enough. On my way home , stopped by the good old Wally Mart and picked up the last of my small “travel” items to put in that little zip lock bag for our flight(Praise Jesus) to San An.
Praying for you, the praise team and all those beautiful women coming to join as one, praising Him.

    Can’t wait!
    love you!

    Beth,
I am so glad you stopped by to sit a spell and tell us the lastest with the Moore family.

I would love to chat back and forth with you. You are our my Siesta Mama, and my mentor. There is just not enough hours in the day to meet with us individually. It was a blessing that you had time to stop by at all.

Sounds like you all are having a blast with the puppies. We are dog lovers too, so I understand the joy you have just watching Geli and Star play together.

    Love ya, sister.

Just a few more days until San Antonio. Looking forward to what the Lord has in store for each of us.

    Hugs,

It’s just the thing to start off our new women’s ministry at our church!!

Head pats to the puppies and tummy rubs to the little lemon!

Love lovin’ the Lord with you!!

As I was reading a book to my two year old this morning called, “I Knew You Could”, which is very similar to “The Little Engine That Could”, on one of the pages while the engine is taking his journey, it talks about allowing ourselves to go through the dark tunnel and know that we will make it through because the track that we take in must also go out, and then we will see the light. I just imagine myself as the engine and Jesus as the conductor…. and at the end of my destination for Him, He says, “I Knew You Could!”. For all that you do for Him, Beth, He is so proud and is in Awe of your love for Him. Your deadlines are stressful, but You stay within the tunnel aiming for His Light and oh, how He loves You for allowing Him to speak through you in your studies, conferences, and your every day life. I look forward to seeing you on this coming Saturday. I’ll be in the Deaf section reading your precious lips – sharing the Word of God!
See you on Saturday, Siesta Mama!

I have no idea what the blog for today is about but I have to tell you something very important, Beth, so please forgive me if this is off topic, but I don't know how else to fellowship with you.

Let me start at the beginning. Iรขโ‚ฌโ„ขve recently, by the worldรขโ‚ฌโ„ขs standards, been victim of great financial hardship. I lost my home and am now living with my best friend and her family. Let me paint the picture for yallรขโ‚ฌยฆMy best friend, her mom, her sister, the sisterรขโ‚ฌโ„ขs two daughters and the oldest daughter has a one year old son, welcomed penniless me into their home with open arms. Can anyone else (besides me) see God in this? I rededicated my life to God this past November privately. Itรขโ‚ฌโ„ขs all out in the open now of courseรขโ‚ฌยฆok?

I moved in with all of them right after my sons 8th birthday, which I spent packing. His birthday was August 1st, by the way. I started รขโ‚ฌล“Believing Godรขโ‚ฌย that Monday night when I finally got all settled in. Today, I finished it! Wait can that be right? just two weeks? God is Awesome! Iรขโ‚ฌโ„ขm dyslexic, yallรขโ‚ฌยฆI donรขโ‚ฌโ„ขt read fast.

I want to share my last รขโ‚ฌล“Faith Journalรขโ‚ฌย entry, if You will.

"God has all this time [the past two weeks] given to me many of the same sentiments that you, Beth, have shared but right before I got to those sections where you expressed them รขโ‚ฌยฆalmost word for word what He had just impressed on me. All throughout this study He has confirmed the truths of this lesson in me from every angle of my life. I praise His name for the blessing of you & this study. Thank you for being a faithful verb."

Just had to shareรขโ‚ฌยฆhope yall donรขโ‚ฌโ„ขt mind. Oh, and if anyone wants to fellowship backรขโ‚ฌยฆ my personal email is [email protected]

    Dear Beth,
It’s good to know you are getting some rest. I’m not much of a dog person (my husband is though) but yours are really cute.
I wanted to let the sister who is asking about ’empty nest’ syndrome to know I will be praying for her. As women, we put so much of ourselves into our children that sometimes we don’t really know who we are when they are gone.
My advice- get a new hobby or reach out to someone on a regular basis. My baby boy heads off to college in 1 week and my daughter just got married last month. We emptied out in a hurry!
I am excited to say that at my new school (I’m a school nurse) the young (I am old) art teacher asked me to join her for -get this- ROLLER DERBY!! I went and had the BEST TIME, even though I was the only one there without any tatoos or colored (or should I say brightly multicolored) hair and piercings besides on my ears. But these wonderful people really encouraged me to ‘give it my all’ on the skate floor. (I used to spend alot of time at the roller rink as a kid back in the day.
I’m just asking the Lord to help me have fun and show kiddos there that they are loved with an everlasting love!
(And am praying for no broken bones)

Awesome updates! I’ve run across a few people who think the Bible is just a book. I’m glad you’ll be teaching about the miracle of God’s Holy Word and how it came to be. That is one MUCH needed teaching tool in today’s cynical, “religious” society. I am so glad my Christian upbringing grounded me so in God’s Word. As I grew into adulthood and started questioning my faith…I came to a point where I had to first of all believe that the BIBLE was HOLY. Not just because my parents believed or my church believed…I had to believe it for myself. It is God-breathed and a gift that I am so thankful that my Hebrew brothers gave me. And later my Christian brothers birthed the gospels. All of them empowered by God’s Holy Ghost.

What you are doing is an awesome undertaking.

    A prayer:

Father in heaven, all of us here encircle our dear sister Beth and her team as they reach out to those in darkness, illuminating Your Word as Truth to those who are willing to seek You. Oh how I pray that You will send hearts ready and receptive. Open each mind with Your spirit of wisdom and knowledge and pour out an understanding that will take their breath away! We pray that You would be the Fire…the Consuming Fire…that burns in the hearts of Christians. Light their hearts and all of our hearts to share TRUTH for Your praise and glory and honor. IN Jesus Name. Amen.

    Dear Sara,

    I’ve walked in your shoes.

and for the last twenty years I’ve wished I cancelled that appointment. Every February 1st, which was my due date, I have a silent birthday party in my heart for that baby I denied.
Today I had tears of joy reading your words about being ‘messed up’ by what you stumbled across on the tv that day. ๐Ÿ™‚ I know that feeling.
You are so loved, dear friend!
and like Roxanne said so well, Your baby is no accident, but an answer to prayer. Your Heavenly Father formed him/her in your womb. If not for your arms, for that of another mommy whose arms are empty and she has been praying for this very child.

I’m praying for you my friend.
Put your trust in Him through Jesus… I promise, He will never let you down! Trust in Him, and He will work out the details for you. He’ll carry you through anything you think you can’t do.

I’m proud of you for listening to your heart, and not your mind, sweet friend. and I’m praying His undeniable blessings on you.

    Sara,
I know that you are having a hard time believing in God right now, but He brought you here. He “messed you up”, and He did it for a reason. Your baby is alive. I want you to know that first. God has such an amazing love for you and for your baby. AND He has a plan for you both.

I cannot pretend to know what you are going through. If you feel that you cannot be a mom at this point in your life, may I ask that you PLEASE consider an adoption plan for your precious child. I KNOW – beyond a shadow of a doubt – that there is someone out there who will love your baby. I have two beautiful girls because two someones in your shoes chose to have the baby. Two little girls that make my life so much sweeter. Not to mention the friend that I have found in my little one’s birthmom.

Please consider all of the options – and listen to your heart. That voice that has been stopping you is Him -He loves you so very much and wants to show you what He can give you and do for you. LET HIM LOVE YOU!!!!

And, Sara, let US love you!!!
    We do, ya know.

I am so glad that you are getting a bit of a respite here after getting Esther out! I will be continuing to pray for you!

You are getting a “snail mail” letter from me soon… i just have to get it in the mail on monday, but wanted you to know here… this week has been a horrible one for me… the enemy really working me over. what brought me through was remembering your idea of the scripture cards, and grabbing mine and focusing on the first 2 that I had written down weeks ago..
Eph 3:16-21 and Phil 1:9-10… both about God’s love and ours… doing everything thing for the praise of His glory.
Between focusing on that and listening to a couple of your online studies on Romans, God completely refocused my mind in an amazing way.
    He is so good!!
I am so thankful, grateful for your ministry, and how God works through you. It amazes me everytime He grabs a teaching I have heard a truth from somewhere that I have read, and brings it to my mind at the perfect time… reminds me to hide it in my heart…
    God bless you!

    Hi Sara,

It’s me again. I just got home from Lakewood Church a while ago and just prayed for you and over you all night long while we were singing praises to God. The music is pretty loud in there so I could really cry out on your behalf. ๐Ÿ™‚

I just want to encourage you to keep listening to that still, small voice inside your head and heart. That is the voice of God speaking to you. Yes, the very voice of God. You were designed like that by the Creator of this universe. Just like your baby is fearfully and wonderfully made, so are you, sweet Sara.

I pray you get back on this blog and see that there are many who truly care. I have asked the Lord to put Godly mentors in your path to help you. You do not have to walk this path alone. God is with you and He will guide you if you allow Him to.

God bless you, dear Sara. And God bless that precious life that is living inside of you.

    Marvelous are His works.
    Much love,
    Roxanne

    Please

    Sara,
I am so glad you posted that message to Beth. I don’t know you but I want you to know I am praying for you and I love you. Please know there is power in the name of Jesus and He has saved me and changed me. He has changed me completly and made me new. Please hang in there and know that there are ladies all around the world that really do care for you and we love you. Just remember there is no condemnation for those that are in Christ. He makes us free.
That baby is a miracle believe me, I have been trying for over 12 years to conceive. I am Trusting and Believing God and I hope you will accept the free gift of salvation in Christ Jesus.
    Love,
    Lori
    P.S. Please write again.

Beth in my life you have worked hard ALL DAY– I just finished about 6 hours of watching the “Who Will You Trust” DVD set… I just wanted to spend the day learning about trusting God.
I thank you for all your inspirational words. I am trusting God more!
Hope you get some well-deserved rest and relaxation!

    Sara,
I simply have to give you a hug through this computer. I was 18 when I had my first child. I knew nothing about being a mother. My father was in prison when I was born and the state removed me from the care of my mother when I was four. I was living on my own by 17. When I was 18 I decided to read the dictionary (a miracle by all accounts b/c that wasn’t something I’d normally do.) I started in the A’s and soon came across the word angel. The definition caught my attention. What if they were real? What if there REALLY was a God?! I decided to read the Bible for myself. I didn’t own one but I went and got one. For the first time it made sense to me. The simplicity of it all was made plain to me. God came into my life like a flood. At that time I found out I was pregnant. Any other time I would have aborted b/c I was always taught that abortion was the RIGHT thing to do (ecspecially for someone in my situation). Because of what God was doing in my life and heart I realized that was lie and decided to have the baby. I am so glad I did!!! God took the nothing that I had and began to weave His power and grace into our lives. He took a pile of ashes and made something beautiful. We now have six children and they are my pride and joy. Come check out my blog to see what God has done. There are pictures of my babies who are now 4,6,8,10, 12 and 14.
    Love you girl.
    Praying for you,
    Kara

You are so much fun! Thank you for sharing! This summer I have committed myself to waking early and reading my Bible everyday. There will be verses that I have read many times before, only now I will stop and read them over and over again, letting it seep into my soul. I am amazed at how many times I have wept and wondered how I’d “missed it” all the other times I’ve read His Word. After a summer of bible study alone, my heart is in dire need for a study with some good ‘ol God Fearing Women! There is an indepth Bible study starting this week at my church, called the Amazing Collection. I want to go so bad, but have only found a nursery for the first two weeks of the study. A friend of mine told me to just come and have faith that God will work it out. Why is that so hard to do sometimes? She always says “Does it require more power than raising a dead Jesus?” I laugh and say of course not. So here I go, jumping on the Faith Train because this homeschooling-mama-of-three-soul needs some seista time in the Word!

    Dearest Sara,

I am praying for you and the baby and whatever situation you are in. Babies are a gift from God and should be cherished every moment. God will help you every step of they way, if you will just believe in Him. I pray that you will believe and know that your are where you are in life for a reason. God Bless you and that precious baby.

I just have to say, Oh, me too, Beth, me too when you say this “God completely changed my life with the study of His Word. I want every person on earth – particularly every woman I encounter – to know the transforming power of Christ and the Truth that sets the most hopeless captive free. It was the turning point for me.” And I love when we begin to see for ourselves how much He wants to show us and He encourages us to grow in His Truth. Thank you for having the resources available to make this kind of spiritual growth happen for us. I am always asking my bible study girls if they are as amazed as I am at all the resources we have available to study God’s word. God knew our generation would be hungry for His word-with an insatiable hunger only He can fill. It sounds like God is working some big details through your small class and will show off as only He can do! SO looking forward to next weekend!

    Dear Siesta Mama,
Thank you for taking time to catch up with us and shoot the breeze…not to mention on a Friday night during the Olympics! You are one of our favorite gals on earth too!

I praise the Lord for giving you the 2 joyous gifts in Star and Geli. What fun they seem to be! I know my dog Buddy would love to have a playdate with them! Though I know you still miss your Beanie girl, I can imagine that they are humorous distractions!

I am so excited to hear about the LIT class that you, Curtis, and Melissa will be teaching this fall. What an incredible opportunity that will surely change lives! I will be praying to that end.

Praying also for this upcoming LPL weekend in San Antonio. May the Lord richly bless you in your preparations this week. In turn, He will richly bless us!

We love you to pieces and are so thankful for our Siesta Mama!

    Much love,
    Tara

PS. Praise the Lord that Amanda’s little lemon is growing and that she is feeling better! I was terribly sick during my first trimester, so I feel her pain! But the blessings in the end are completely worth it!

I laughed about the puppies. My husband and I were surprised by the pregnancy of our golden retriever this spring. (Our male was seven months old and we thought he could not physically, “do the deed” ) But to our amazement it happened. Bailey ended up having to healthy puppies. They were hard work to care for but I loved them anyway!!May God continue to bless you and the ministry he is using you in to expand his kingdom!!

Dear Beth, The Lord has so blessed me—or I should say us—through your teachings and books, Bible Studies,CD’s and DVD’d I have had blessing after blessing and miracles, A family healing (which He is still working on) after seven years of estrangement (!) and that only the Lord could have made happen and NOT through me—except a new way of praying (thanks to you), which He began with a phone call from a family member–which I did not expect—ever and never—who is not even a believer and is married to a morman—–this was a blessing and miracle and answered prayer because of what I have learned from you by changing how I pray and think and—– CONSIDERING what His will might be, not mine. Because of “Praying God’s Word” style, we have a new believer in the family, who is the same person’s daughter who made the phone call (!)— a new believer at work and some awestruck believers who want to “read what I have read”. I have a sister-in-law who is now a believer and was raised as a Catholic, and wants to read every book of your’s that I have read and in that same order (!)(I sent them to her). My husband and I are walking around on our knees everyday in gratitude, awe, shock and thanksgiving to the Lord, and everyday there is something new from His Word for us that just blows us away. Thank you Beth, for obeying God!!! I have already begun to pray that the Lord would make it possible to make your “Lit” Bible study available to us—of course, if it is His will, I mean, that is. I would so humbly soak in every word of it. We need to go back to the beginning of a study life and get the basics as you have described in your blog. I know it would enhance everything we have already learned and will continue to learn. If the Lord leads you to share it with us, I am your first customer! I would be so humbled and blessed and I have a lot of people to share it with, too. I am sorry that this is so long. This is just the tip of the iceberg, if I told you everything, it would probably be a hundred page letter. Thank you, Beth, thank you, thank you. Thank you Lord for Beth and please keep blessing her and gifting her and blessing us. P.S. Beth, every time I would read one of your books I would say to my husband, “this one is my favorite”. Each one, though, has had it’s perfect place and timing. I love to print those precious scriptures up on the e-bible (along, also with my 3×5 cards, yes) and place them in a three ringed binder for review. I work long hours and need to do it this way.
