National Day of Prayer

If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. (2 Chronicles 7:14)

Today is the National Day of Prayer. My mom and dad are in Washington D.C. right now participating in the events. I would like to open up comments for anyone who feels led to post a brief prayer for our nation. Dr. Ravi Zacharias is this year’s Honorary Chairman for the National Day of Prayer Task Force. You can read his prayer for our nation here.

Oh God, I know I have been given more grace than I deserve to say I live in the United States of America. I know many have given their lives for this privilege I have. I pray for the leaders of this nation, and each state within it. I pray for the leaders of Your churches within its borders. God come again into our Nation. May your people stand together EVERY day and bring our nation to your mercy seat. God we need you more today than during the time of the 10 plagues. Be our God, may we walk BOLDLY in YOUR NAME in our nation, state, county and towns. God help me to be the light of your love to this nation today… and every day.

Ravi has such a beautiful spirit. When I was a little girl I remember getting to deliver a phone message to him at a church dinner.

His Passion for God (in his preaching, not his receiving of phone messages from tiny trembling hands) made a huge impression on me even then, 30 years ago. What a wonderful choice to pen a prayer for our nation.

Amanda,The sermon from Dr.Zacharias on Focus On The Family was very stirring and profound. I was able to attend the community prayer event in my hometown today at noon. What a privilege to join together with fellow believers on behalf of our nation. I just wish that more believers had been there. My prayer is that God will raise up His followers to proclaim His mighty name in this great United States, and that our nation will turn in repentance to Him. Lord,

I thank You that by Your grace I live in the United States, a country in which I can freely proclaim Your name and worship You.

I pray for revival to come to the USA. I pray for the seeds sown by our founders and the generations who have gone on before us to be ripe in the field and harvested.

I pray the USA serves You once again and we take the Gospel around this nation and the world.

Please continue to protect the USA from all terror plots against our nation and our interests.

    Please protect our troops.

Thank You Lord for this country, I pray she blesses You.

Father God I thank you for the grace, mercy and blessing you have
reigned down on this country. I pray that all Christians will fall on their face and pray for our country and our leaders. Lord God, I pray you will raise up Christian leaders that follow your word and are willing to speak out for you and your purposes. May we as a country do your will. May each person take seriously the need for prayer for our country and it’s leaders. May each of us Father not be afraid to stand up for you Lord God and your ways.

Really see them and their needs, I pray that we as a nation can look beyond ourselves and be used by God to help bless America. I pray that we can humble ourselves as a nation, so that you can shine the way you are ment to. I pray the christians of this great nation will be ready to be used by you, and will take the title of christian more serious than ever. I pray we can look at the life Jesus led, and follow that example. I thank you God for your grace.

LORD, we have sinned grievously against You. This nation that was founded by ones that sought You has now been eaten up with sin. We can see and feel that full well. There is murder, violence, violations, perversity, addictions, and broken homes, adults, and even children! Each generation has felt the heightened effects of idolatry and blatant rebellion up until the present. Forgive us, God! Grant us repentance and a revival of a hunger for You and godliness in our land! Have mercy on us and send forth Your Spirit for a great soul harvest in America, Lord, and use us, send us, Your children to speak the Truth in love about You to a dying and utterly hopeless and lost nation and world. Grant us a renewed sense of how much our sin is an affront to You! Help us to see our sin for what it is and really grieve over it-mourn over it and its ravaging effects on our lives and our children’s lives! Let us not be soo busy with ourselves that we completely miss the fact that we are dying here for You and Your healing over our land. We don’t even realize our own depravity, and how far we have strayed from You. A nation not seeking You is a dangerous and evil thing-hardening the heart and numbing the morals. How much You desire for us to be a godly nation after Your own heart! We have left our first Love. O America, repent and return to Him and be forgiven and healed! Help us to value godliness more than the trivial things of this world, Lord. Things of eternal value more than things of earth. Only You can grant us this. Forgive us and have mercy on us! Amen, so be it.

Your presence is full, it is abundant, it is all we’ll ever need and Lord I pray you would call many to you now. Lord, open the eyes of lost to Your goodness, to Your sacrifice. Lord, may we all find our sufficiency in You alone and daily give You our lives. Father, each new morning is a gift. Help us all to remember that and daily live to glorify you. This nation, Lord, Your people need You. I pray for Your presence and Your spirit to fill this nation, to fill Your children to serve You and enlarge Your kingdom daily. Oh, how I love You, I praise you and ask this all in the mighty Name of Jesus. Amen

    Valarie says:

Father God, on this day we cry out to you on behalf of our nation. Father our nation sounds so much like the description You left us in 2 Tim 3, “lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love” and so much more. Forgive us Father. Thank you for sending Your Son to redeem us from our sins. May we turn back to You Lord, as a nation, before it’s too late.

I pray that my Siesta’s in Christ will stay in Your Word, so that they know the Truth and will have nothing to do with those that have a “form of godliness but denying its power”. The ones that “worm their way into homes and gain control over weak-willed women”. Father God, may we never be a nation of weak-willed women, but women who are followers of Christ, warriors of prayer, standing firm in our identity as Daughter’s of the King.

Protect our nation. Father bless those who are in authority over us and place individuals in their lives that will either share Your Truth with them, or hold those that belong to You accountable.

Thank you for taking on our infirmities and understanding our groans as we come to You, united this day, and I ask You to start a Holy Fire in this land and Lord may it start in me! In the Precious Name above every Name – the Name that one day every knee will bow to – Jesus I ask these things……

    HIS Daughter says:

    Papa,
At a time in this generation when things look so bleak, you alone know where your people are and the light that they are shining in this darkness.

Let us take courage from you because you have said “Do not fear” and only with you, will we not be afraid.

YOU see our nation that you have blessed with so much has become very sick.

Papa, You alone know how the election is going to turn out and it is according to your plan for our age.

Draw your children who love you and worship you and want to be called by your Name to a unity that will be needed.

You are looking for the righteous in a place of depravity just as in Sodom and Gomorrah.

Please find us serving and loving you and being a light to those in need.

Be with our troops, Papa. You alone are the only way. Take care of those who protect us.

Thank you, Papa, that I was born in this country of freedom with so many opportunities. We have much and much will be required. Let all of us who call you Father not be found “sleeping” in this day and age.

All of these things I thank you and worship you for and plead with you on behalf of those that do not know you.

Your HOLY Will be done…in the name of our beloved Savior, Jesus Christ, Your Son

    Jina says:

Lord Jesus, Holy Spirit and Heavenly Father,

You alone know the mercy you have shown this country. You alone know the hearts of the people. Lord we thank you for the blessings you have shown us. We thank you for the ways you have intervened on behalf of freedom. Simultaneously, Lord, you know the devastation that exists in our land today. Father, forgive us for turning our backs on you. Forgive us for the way we have chosen to turn our heads from the indigent, neglected and vulnerable. Forgive us for not taking a greater stand for your kingdom. Lord we have been lead astray in areas we don’t even see right now. Make it clear dear Jesus, remove the scales from our eyes. Deal with our hearts, what is the Truth here Lord? So many profess to know it, yet don’t walk in what they preach.

Lord, cover George and Laura Bush with your wing. Give them wisdom and discernment to walk the rest of their days in the White House with integrity and honor. May you receive the glory. May their heart beat be to hear your every word.

I pray for the congressional leaders, help them to be shaken and see the landscape for what it truly is God. Only you can bring one mind, one heart and one voice to that group of people.

I pray for the candidates running for presidency. We need a miracle. Lord move the heavens on behalf of honor and integrity. If there isn’t a candidate who possesses it Lord, raise one up who does. Let us see this experience with faith eyes Lord.

I pray for the elected officials on the state level. May the Spirit be heavy on each of them as a conscience to help them in decision making.

Lastly Lord, I pray for the soldiers who have served us so faithfully and sacrificially. I pray for their families. I know each of them is on the forefront of your mind. Keep them safe, fill their hearts with your love, bring the soldiers home in your time. Touch the families at home with your power and strength. Give us the burden and courage to hear you calling us to serve these people with Your Love.

You are good Jesus, I thank you for revealing your ways to us. Thank you for initiating this relationship and adventure with me. Bless you Lord. Bless you Father. I surrender to cooperate with you Spirit. Lead On. In Jesus Name.

    LORD,
We need you!! Open the flood gates of heaven over us. I confess and ask for forgiveness on behalf of this country for turning to everyone and everything else but you. Forgive us for we no not what we do. You are the answer and I ask you to show us your glory. By your Spirit, draw this country into your presence.
Help those of us that know you personally to testify of you to every person on this planet until you call us home. Give us courage to not be silent anymore, but to shout your name until you receive it as a beautiful melody in your ears.
Father you place in authority whom You place in authority. Convict us to pray for our leadership and to respect who you place in these positions.
Let each of us hear from you exactly what you want us to hear. Show each of us our roles in bringing America to your authority. In the name of Jesus, who has given me the privilage to petition my Father. AMEN!!

Father God, please forgive our nation of our selfishness, our fatness and self-satisfied dullness; please examine me, Lord and show me any transgressions or deceit in my heart so I can confess it as well…. Please forgive us for our constant pursuit of name brand things, of trivial items and pursuits while so many even in our great nation are starving physically, emotionally, and mentally…. starting and desperate for a Savior.
Please, Father, guide all our leaders, and please in the coming election place YOUR choice in all offices. Please, Lord, bring home all our precious ones who serve in the armed forces overseas; let them feel gladness of heart and peace right now even as I write this, Please, Father.
Bless Beth, Amanda, Melissa, and their families; continue to guide them into your Truth and help them to remain faithful. I can’t remember the exact quote, it doesn’t matter as YOU know the quote and the meaning of my heart, but as one man said he wanted to know what YOU could do with one man totally surrendered to you… Lord I want to be that WOMAN. I pray that I am surrendered totally to you, and I pray also Lord that it be true. i also pray that for anyone reading this prayer. Let us all pursue you with hot abandon, fill us with Holy fire, fill us with passion for you and your Word, that only grows every single day. Help us to be Godly witnesses to you, to our households our children, our extended families and workplaces.
Forgive me for being so distraught about my family and work situations when in reality I am so blessed, and you really are at work in those situations. Forgive me for thinking I am always so alone and always will be… when you are right by my side. Please help me to live in the fullness of who you created me to be, to be bold in witnessing to others.
In the OH so precious name of your Son Jesus, I pray; I thank you for Him with all I am, without Him I would be nothing……… AMEN!

    Jehovah Nissi,

You are our banner, our rallying point – the God of our fathers. O Lord of hosts, God of Israel, the One who dwells between the cherubim, You are god, You alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth. You have made heaven and earth. Incline Your ear, O Lord, and hear; open Your eyes, O Lord, and see; and hear all the words which have been sent to reproach You, the Living God. Truly, Lord, the kings of the world, the leaders have laid waste to all the nations and their lands. They have abused their power, and denied the source of their authority. They are torturing and killing people Your name. Their gods are idols, Lord. They have cast them into the fire; for they were not gods, but the works of the hands of men. Now, Lord our God, Save us from the enemy’s hand, that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that You are the Lord, You alone. (Based on Isaiah 37:16-20) We need righteous men and women to lead our country Lord, to harken to the voice of the Spirit and to do Your holy will. Your Word says that you set up kings and depose them, Lord I am asking for a righteous branch to be elevated. For Your arm to be extended toward us and for your favor and protection to once again bless our borders. I am praying Lord for the salvation of the lost, the return of Your people to the remnant of the faithful and for a bold generation to rise and declare Your name in revival in this land. We long to see these dry bones live. Lord, in the same way you called forth David to leave a better inheritance for the children of Israel, we ask Lord for a better inheritance for the generations to come. You alone are God, in You we place our trust. We cry out to You, turn Your ear to us, Hear us from Heaven and touch our generation. Show Yourself mighty to those who oppose your people and declare your favor over them so no one will ever again dispute the power and authority of Jehovah Elohim, the Lord God who is eternal and powerful. May God be with us all!

I ask these things in Jesus Name, Amen.

    Dearest Abba,

We know that freedom is never free – and the price for our ultimate freedom was paid for by Jesus. Forgive us, the Church, for our complacency, for compromising and not walking in Biblical obedience, and for allowing sin to not only enter the camp, but for allowing it to take up residence among us. Forgive us for our self centeredness and for not being a people of holiness.

We ask you to clean us from the inside out so we can be fit vessels that glorify and magnify You to a lost and dying world.

Thank You for the freedom to pray. May we never again take what was bought for us with the blood of Jesus for granted.

Speak Truth. Give us ears to listen and hearts of understanding. Reveal Yourself in a new and fresh way. Give us eyes to see as You see.

    Be exalted Lord!

Oh Father, I am aware everyday of your grace to me personally. I pray for my country. We have not honored You as we ought. I pray tonight for the men and women who lead us, that they would know that it is You who has placed them in their positions of leadership. That they would turn to You. And I pray that Your people would daily BE your witness to the world so that all will one day bow the knee and acknowledge you as their Redeemer.

In the mighty name of Jesus, Amen.

God, I am one of your people! I myself am called by your name, and I thank you, LORD. Oh God- I do humble myself, and ask forgiveness from you for my sins. Father, I am seeking your face with all my heart. I live my life with turning from my wicked ways behind me, thank you for your sweet forgiveness, daily Lord- daily. I know you have forgiven me, and I am asking you to please heal my land. I know it is my responsibility as your child to pray and ask you for mercy, and so I do. Thank you for humbling yourself to hear my prayer. Thy will be done.

    Amen

O LORD, God of Heaven, the Great and Awesome God, who keeps His covenant of love with those who love Him and obey His commands, let Your ear be attentive and Your eyes open to hear the prayer Your servant is praying before You day and night for Your servants, the people of America. I confess the sins we Americans, including myself and my father’s house have committed against You. We have acted very wickedly toward You. We have not obeyed Your commands, decrees and laws that You gave us through Your servants.
We are Your servants and Your people, whom You redeemed by Your great strength and Your mighty hand. O LORD, let Your ear be attentive to the prayers of your servants and to the prayers of your servants who delight in revering Your Name.
Nehemiah 1:4-7, 10-11 (America substitued for Israel, but the premise is the same)
Thank You LORD, that You are full of lovingkindness, grace and mercy, and that Your mercies are new every morning. Great is Your Faithfulness!
