A Little Leader Love

Two weeks ago we wrapped up our Breaking Free Bible study in Houston and we got a chance to share a little bit about it on the blog. Now we would love to hear from all you Bible-study-leading, blogging siestas. How did your semester go? Chime in whether or not it was a Beth Moore study. We just want people in the Word!

Our group in Archer, FL just finished JESUS THE ONE AND ONLY and were overwhelmed with the impact it had on our lives, Many of us were also able to go to Jacksonville to hear Beth teach in person. What a blessing. We will begin JOHN, THE BELOVED DISCIPLE next week. Pray for us.

Soon I will be leading the stepping up study. I have been going over everything and am so excited. Also a little scared because this is the first one I have ever led, and the first deep study that I think my church has done. PLEASE pray that the women are accecpting and that this study reaches to the very depths of there hearts and souls.

We just completed “Jesus the One and Only”. Awesome! Our group is growing closer and closer to Jesus and to each other. We have women ranging in age from 13 to their early 80’s. We have women from several different denominations. We have at least one that isn’t even sure if she believes in Jesus, but she keeps coming and studying and hearing the word and I know the Bible says His Word will not return void. I’m just waiting for the day when she believes. This is her second study with us. It’s exciting watching her dig and ask questions. I really believe it’s just a matter of time. In August, we’re going to start “Believing God”. I’m hoping this will be the time.

Thank you for being faithful and doing the ministry God gave you. We’re all benefiting from it. Isn’t God wonderful!!

We finished Stepping Up in February, and it was phenomenal! I think it was the next to last session when you had us stand shoulder to shoulder…I’m sure every other group who has done it experienced what we did – joyful weeping, a connectedness (is that even a word?), peace.

I was standing by a sister/friend of mine whom I had deeply hurt 2 years earlier through my deception. She had come to me with a warning. She could see trouble on the horizon for me in the form of adultery and divorce. Not only did I ignore her, I lied to her.

Fastforward a couple of years. I had repented and returned to God (too late in most people’s opinion, for I had helped break up two marriages, was divorced and remarried). Through what I can only believe was God’s divine will, she and I kept running into each other until finally she invited me to her church. That is where we were doing the Stepping Up study.

As we stood pressed against one another, being encouraged by Beth to take care of, defend, love each of our sisters in Christ, I turned to her and weeping and begging her to forgive me. She already had! Not to mention, she said that the message that night was meant for her, because she had been struggling with occasionally hearing people from our former church say bad things about me and how to deal with it. In her heart she felt that God was calling her to defend – not my actions – but the grace and forgiveness that was His to extend to all of us.

It was a healing night. I have since read Beth’s book Breaking Free. And just last night as we were shopping to prepare for a trip to the beach, my wonderful husband took me into Lifeway and said, “Find a Beth Moore book you haven’t read for our trip.” I chose Get Out Of That Pit. My husband and I are also doing the 90 Days With Jesus devotional by Beth and Devotions of a Sacred Marriage by Gary Thomas.

I can’t wait to do the Breaking Free study! I also have the Captivating study by Staci Eldridge…I’m just waiting for God to lead me to offer it to our ladies.

Sorry I was so long, Amanda and Beth. I’m crazy about you two!

My husband, a college minister, led a study on Philippians this semester. He would introduce the passage, then divide into girls & guys, and I would lead the girls’ discussion of the passage. We ususallly had 7 or 8 girls, and 2 or 3 would answer most of the questions as the rest stared at us. But they kept coming back–numbers stayed consistent the whole time. And those 2 or 3 are fired up! A little flame…

On New Year’s eve day I was in prayer on my face before the Lord asking Him what He wanted me to ” set my face like flint” toward for the new year. He lead me to 1 John 2:6 “Whoever claims to love Him must walk like Jesus did.” That word blew me away. I became so hungry to learn everything about my beautiful Jesus. I came across Jesus The One and Only and cherished each word on the pages. The Lord is so amazing. I was almost finished with the book when I found out the next study we were doing in my ladies bidle study was GUESS WHAT: Jesus The One and ONLY!!! ( No one had any idea that I was in the midst of that book) I am in week 6 and everyday I stand in awe of Him. God is using this book and study to reshape my life in so many ways that I can list here or I too may be writting a book. Beth, God has used your work as a fragrant offering on an alter of his love reshaping willing hearts to be molded by his beautiful nail scared hands. So that you and I can walk like Him. Spreading forth the sweet fragrance of HIM. I love you sister. Thanks for having a hand in changing my life.

We split our semester up into two separate studies, Angela Thomas’, A Beautiful Offering, and we are right smack in the middle of Stepping UP!!!!!! Oh, I don’t want this study to end. So many women are in this study for such specific reasons…It just overwhelmingly amazes me of God’s awesome power and timing…who else could’ve given Beth the words and structure it in a way that just touches and changes sooo deep! We have many women who will be changed from the inside out when we are all finished in three weeks. We started with 35 women and will end with at least 40 – 45!!!!!!!! PRAISE GOD!!!!! Thank you Beth!

Blessings!! And How much fun are you going to have with Mr. Jackson sooooo close ๐Ÿ™‚ !!??

We just finished Stepping UP–I loved the way it ended with Travis singing “God Bless the Broken Road”! I never thought of it in terms of the broken road leading us to Jesus, until now! I’ll never listen to it the same way again, and I sure hope Travis puts that on his own CD! Thank you, Beth, for your anointed teaching.

I cannot wait for us to start Stepping Up (probably in the Fall), and I am really looking forward to Esther, too!

We just finished “Stepping Up” a couple of weeks ago and it was wonderful. We started like many others with about 50 ladies and ended with about 35 on Thursday night. We also have the study of “Daniel” going on Tuesday mornings and there are about 50 ladies in that and holding the numbers strong. The “Daniel” study has been one of my favorites so far. It is pretty intense and not for the faint of heart. But WOW!!! I did not want that one to end. (I did it last summer in my home with a group of women).

I will always hold “A Women’s Heart” as my favorite because it brought me back into a deeper relationship with the savior. I am so looking forward to the “Esther” study. I hope to be leading this one in the fall if it’s out.

Thank you Beth for your obiedience to the Lord. I believe you will lay many crowns at Christ feet for the lives that have been changed through these studies of God’s Word.

    Blessings to you Amanda!!

    Amanda and Beth,

We just completed the new Woman’s Heart study in Reno, and let me tell you what a huge blessing it was! Praise Him!

The woman had a potluck and share for the last session, so many women tearfully told how God had spoken to them, touched them and met them where they were on the pages of the homework. They grabbed hands and spoke the Deuteronomy blessing over one another….such a joy!

Beth, you personally spoke to many of us waiting for a baby or a husband. We love to study God’s Holy word with you!

I just finished A Woman’s Heart. I had ankle surgery last October and was confined to my upstairs bedroom for weeks, so I downloaded the videos and did some of the sessions then. It got crowded on my bed – what with the Father, Son, Holy Spirit, my yorkie and my cat all participating!

I have just finished – and yes it took six months. It was the first time in a long time, I could relish studying and not be on someone else’s timeline.

After years of not writing about what I am reading, I am thirsty for more, journalling and blogging my way through an interesting part of this race called “life”.

    Praise God!

We just finished “Wising Up” and I was impressed! Somehow I got the idea that since there wasn’t a workbook (homework)that the study would be less meaty…..boy, was I wrong! Sorry Beth. Wonderful, insightful, convicting!! You did it again, dug down to the heart of the matter and opened my eyes to God’s perspective. Thank you!!

I have facitlitated about 10 Beth Moore Studies and all have been great. I particularly liked Daniel. I enjoy escatology, but the 1st 6 chapters on integrity really spoke to me.

We are starting a 4 week study by Chip Igram called “How to rebuild your broken world”. We have women in our group (from different denominations)that have recently lost a husband, lost a daughter, are having marital problems, involved in a severe car accident
(30 years ago, still asking “why”) and the usuall issuses that are not so devestating, but still cause concern.

Thanks for the opportunity to share.

I just finished a Bible study that Julie Woodruff wrote with the help of Lori Thomas… 2 very gifted ladies at my church. Julie is the women’s minister and also has written some for Beth. It was such a delight!! The study was on 1 Peter and it was all about finding hope when dreams fade…. and isn’t so amazing how God meets us exactly where we are and loves us enough to not leave us there?! Well, last night, 4 of us met at Panera Bread and decided to continue studying the Word with a book called “The Politically Incorrect Wife”. I cannot wait!

This comment doesn’t really have anything to do with your latest post. I’ve been struggling with something for a long time and I just now decided I’d like to ask the Moore ladies, and all the sisters for that matter, what they think. I got married about 4 years ago to a wonderful man and we did a little church searching together, but ended up at our particular church because of the friends who were there. It is a young congregation with specific concentrations on the community, outreach, meeting people “where they’re at”, and racial reconciliation. The mission is to give hurting people a place to belong, believe, and behave better (in that order). Ok, I have had trouble with this because the teaching is very basic, and the fruit that I see is very slim. My husband gets very loyal and wants to give it more time, but over the years I feel I’ve been missing out on growth and wilting away. He knows this, but has felt guilty leaving. What are the grounds that make it “right” to leave a church? And when is it better to stay committed and work the issues out? Whew. Believe it or not, this is it in a NUTSHELL! Thanks to everyone who has some Godly counsel. I REALLY need it.

God’s timing is incredible. We finished A Woman’s Heart. I have a Monday night class and a Tuesday morning class. I put a lot of prayer into finding God’s plan for the next study. The Sunday before Easter our church celebrated a mini ‘sedar’ (Passover meal) the next day we were studying the Feast of Unleavened Bread in the study Stepping Up. Awesome! Stepping Up puts another beautiful layer on the story of God’s people after studying the tabernacle.

Just want you all to know I am so humbled to ask the questions and push the play button on the DVD!! As a former pit-dweller and a testifier to being set free indeed, I am leading in obedience, never because I feel I am “qualified” just “graced.” Thank you from this “leader” and the awesome women in my classes here in good ole Arkansas. We very grateful for what God is doing through Beth and through LPM.

We will finish Daniel tonight, whew! We have taken a different approach, in that we do the video session one week and then talk homework the next. It has been really, really jaw dropping the amount of information in this study. My heart hurts for many of the women that participate, because there are many that only come on the nights of the video session. So, I’m begging that you all pray for our girls that only come to see Beth. My prayer is that as we start the “Stepping Up” study that they will be moved to really dig into the word and get all the meat and potatos out of the study. (Since I got to preview “Stepping Up” I know that it’s good even with out the homework, but I can’t wait to do it with the homework!)

We are about to wrap up “Believing God” and I can safely say, I am a changed woman! I began the study 2 weeks in as I had just started going to my church after a move from Tennessee to OKlahoma in December. I didn’t know a soul except for the leader (who is the pastor’s wife) who I had briefly met once in the church nursery.

I was a little “skeered” since I did not know a soul, but felt confident that God wanted me to join these ladies for the study.

Three weeks later the leader was asking me if I would consider leading the next study which I am praying furiously about.

I have become, throughout the course of this study, very convicted and excited to dive deep into God’s word which is a message that the Lord began speaking to me about last Fall at Deeper Still in Nashville.

I ask that you all would pray for the women who come as many don’t do the homework and therefore are not experiencing the blessing of the journey through God’s word! I want them to expereince how the Lord begins to change us from the inside out the deeper we go with Him, but there are so many excuses that I am all too familiar with in my own life.

I am praying that GOd would lead me to just the right study and that the women’s hearts would be drawn to seek God in a fresh way.

Beth – I love you so much for your humble service to all of us sieastas out here who are diligently seeking to know our Lord. God has used you so much in my own walk and I really and truly want to continue in inspiring other women to believe God! Thank you!

I have to confess, I was somewhat ho-hum about doing a study on the Psalms – and WHOA – have I been blown away by the content & power of the scriptures! We just finished Psalm of Ascents and yes we all arrived hungry for dinner! Oh my! Psalm 121 spoke to the fray of our hearts and lodged in the recesses of our soul. Psalm 32:7 – He is our Hiding Place. Matthew 10:20 – God gives you the words to speak so that chains fall loose. I know some of my chains fell and I can’t thank you enough. We are in-between churches and in- between jobs so our community is sparse. But my Beth Moore bible studies have a lifesaver like it says in Deut 33:26, 27 – verse 26 says there is no God like the God of Jeshurun who rides the heavens to help—and the word help means lifesaver. Underneath my husband’s jobless state and my jobless state are HIS arms and we are SAFE. HE will drive out the enemy of my soul that makes me feel worthless in all of this. That’s what the Word that Beth has brought to us has meant to me. Hope. Courage. Safety. Starting a new study today…tbc

Right now we’re in week 8 of Living Beyond Yourself, and it has been AMAZING!!!! We are a small group of women meeting in my home and we come from all ages and stages of relationship with Christ. The most overwhelming part of this study has been watching these lovely ladies’ eyes open to the truth of who the Holy Spirit is and His availability in their lives. Half of the group this time is made up of brand new believers, and the transformation of their lives as they understand more of the Spirit has been HUGE! Thank you, thank you Father for opening our eyes to Your truth. And thank you Beth for being a willing instrument!

The message was so perfectly time for both of us – my friend getting ready to move to Japan because her husband’s transfer and in my life -well, it’s too long of a story!

We are praying for a new ‘group’ for both of us for next year! Of course, we already know that we want to do Esther! (I think I’ll do stepping up & wising up on my own this summer – unless the Lord brings others)

It has been an ‘amazing ride’ and blessing! The more I get to know you, Beth, more I think that we are kindred spirits! It has been such an encouragement to see your family as tight and as crazy as mine; and you do with your girls some of the exact things we do!

    Dear Beth,
If I may, can I comment about the last six months? We had just finished up A Woman’s Heart God’s Dwelling Place, when I found out I was pregnant with number 3. We went into Stepping Up a few weeks later, and God was really speaking to me through both.
The lessons on manna and getting out of your tent everyday were great. It encouraged me that God gives enough grace for each day, and then it seemed as if God were preparing my heart for something big. A week after your lesson in Stepping Up about being secure in God and who he is and not secure in what he gives, I prematurely delivered my son and he is praising the Lord in heaven now.
I did not write this to be sad but to encourage you and say thank you. I know you finish these studies way before I see them, but they strengthen us in the here and now. His word never returns void. So thankyou. I can’t wait to do Esther!

I ahve been HAD .I fell into the depest pit of my life right before Christmas. I am a preacher’s daughter, goodie goodie (and an Aggie- Whoop- that should count for something in the kingdom right?)and never thought I would be so seduced by the enemy. I suffered a second miscarriage at Christmas and after that immediately began to give into my heart’s deception. I began living a secret life that I thought only “bad” people would lead. Something in me (the grace of God) called me to repentence around the end of February. God is slowly rebuiling my marriage, faith and walls of obedience. In the past 2 months I have read “Pit”, “when Godly People…” and “Believing God” and God has used those to speak to me in such a profound way. I have wept over the pages of those books because only another HAD could understand and say what i was thinking and feeling. Praise God that I am slowy being restored and brought into my Gilgal.

I co-lead Women’s Ministry in our church and have been leading Bible study there for approximately seven years. We just finished “A Woman’s Heart. . .” three weeks ago. We do the discussion one week and the video the next. Three days before the final video one of our ladies unexpectantly passed away. Our precious Father carried us through that class that night and I doubt any of us will ever be the same again. We just began “Stepping Up” two weeks ago and in God’s perfect timing again He brought a new lady to study with us. He sent two more this past Sunday night week. How awesome is our God! We are loving this study already. Each one is our favorite until we get to the next one, then it is the favorite. “David” is one of my very favorites along with “The Patriarchs” (possibly because I there at the filming of it)and “Believing God” changed my life.

In the summer we have done Priscilla Shirer’s “He Speaks To Me” – awesome. This past summer we did Kay Arthur’s “Lord Teach Me To Pray” and Mary Ann Bridgwater’s “Building A House of Prayer.” Wonderful studies. We also just did “Loving Well” as a weekend retreat and it was wonderful. Everyone who came enjoyed it so much and hearts were touched to “love well.”

We have seen women come and go in our class who, for some reason or other, don’t care for indepth study or doing “homework” but there is a small group of us who love it and want to go deeper and deeper, or shall I say, “go up” with the Lord.

Thank you Beth for giving yourself to the Lord and to us. We have been so blessed by you and to be one of your many siestas. We love you and thank Amanda and LPM staff too. You all are the best! THANKS!

We just finished “Stepping Up” – my most favorite study yet. I was so excited to begin it. The first night was like no other – the Spirit of God was so real and so thick (maybe because I was so excited about it and bathed it continually in prayer?? Hmmmmm…there’s something to that ๐Ÿ™‚ Anyway, every week greater than the one before. The only thing I was uneasy about (besides leading it which always make me want to throw up just before – sorry, TMI) was that the women didn’t want to split into groups (that’s 40+ women in one group). The thought made me uneasy but peaceful – does that make sense? I now know that God was using that time to bring the women in our church together in a way we hadn’t been in years. If we had split up, I don’t believe the Spirit would have moved like it did.

On the final night, I was so sad – I wanted to start it all again the next morning. Wonderful study! Just wonderful! Thank you so much for being obedient to write it so we could enjoy the rewards ๐Ÿ™‚

We are just finishing up Priscilla Evans Shirer’s book “He Speaks to Me” in the group that I lead (about 9 ladies). It has been a blessing. Lots of ladies that are new to faith, great question/answer sessions, and a real desire to grow. I also just finished “Daniel” with my other ladies group. Phenomenal!!! We are now officially smarter than when we started!! Thanks Beth.
