Siestas, did you watch “Clash of the Choirs” this week??? It was one of the best things I’ve watched on television in ages! I laughed and cried and clapped my hands and stood to my feet and cheered all by my sick little self in my den. I could have watched it every night for a month. Now, THAT’S GOOD PROGRAMMING. Way to go for a change, NBC!!!

I did watch it!!! I LOVED it!!! My roommate and I both thought it was the best show. I hope they keep it up. At least for a little while!
Ah, the choirs. I watched as I was home alone and had the remote. While I stitched I watched. It was the first time I had seen it and I picked the #1 choir right off. Nick’s choir was about the song, blending etc. not about the star’s and the solo’s. Good choir!!
I have a question for you Beth, regarding the last study in a Woman’s Heart. What is the best way to contact you? You could e-mail me and then I you back??
Hey Everybody,
I must second Beth’s observation! Although I must admit I might be a little biased because of my love for music, Clash of the Choirs is one of the best things that has hit TV in a good while.
My name is Regina Gibson…I am not at all new to the blog (I have been reading it from the beginning), but I am new to posting on it. I am a 25 year old newly wed who loves Jesus more than anything on God’s green earth. I know a lot about freedom through Christ and victory in Him as a result of great trials early on in life. I have a great passion for God’s Word and memorize portions of it each day. It could be well said that I am addicted to the Word of God! I love my husband, my family, and my church. And I love this blog!
Thank you Beth for your service to us!
I was reading your blog to my daughter this morning (she calls me every day on her way to work) and she said, “Yeah, it was so good!”
I didn’t even know about it. ๐ We just got our electricity back on Mon. afternoon after a week (after the ice storm hit Okla.) and I’ve been trying to get caught up and back to normal. I told her to call me next time when something good like that is on.
It is refreshing when something good comes on television…especially a major network like NBC.
Hope you’re feeling better!
Love,
Valerie
This has nothing to do with your last post…. BUT it was too funny not to pass along especially for all of us computer nerds ๐
…Jesus and Satan were having an on-going argument about who was better on the computer. They had been going at it for days, and frankly God was tired of hearing all the bickering.
Finally fed up, God said, ‘THAT’S IT! I have had enough. I am going to set up a test that will run for two hours, and from those results, I will judge who does the better job.’
So Satan and Jesus sat down at the keyboards and typed away.
They moused.
They faxed.
They e-mailed.
They e-mailed with attachments.
They downloaded.
They did spreadsheets!
They wrote reports.
They created labels and cards.
They created charts and graphs.
They did some genealogy reports
They did every job known to man.
Jesus worked with heavenly efficiency and Satan was faster than hell.
Then, ten minutes before their time was up, lightning suddenly flashed across the sky, thunder rolled, rain poured, and, of course, the power went off.
Satan stared at his blank screen and screamed every curse word known in the underworld.
Jesus just sighed.
Finally the electricity came back on, and each of them restarted their computers. Satan started searching frantically, screaming:
‘It’s gone! It’s all GONE! ‘I lost everything when the power went out!’
Meanwhile, Jesus quietly started printing out all of his files from the past two hours of work.
Satan observed this and became irate.
‘Wait!’ he screamed. ‘That’s not fair! He cheated! How come he has all his work and I don’t have any?’
God just shrugged and said,
JESUS SAVES
I so loved watching CotC! It was perfect to knit to. I’m new here…about a month. Thanks so much for this blog. When I can sit for a bit without little ones at my feet, I need to send you an email. Thanks for being a blessing. Kristen
Yes I did watch it and loved it! Watched every second of it, almost. (I have a 3-year-old and 10-month-old.) Had many a moment with goosebumps on my arms. I was impressed with NBC, as well. Merry Christmas.

Yes, and we agree 150% on finally getting something on tv to watch with the kids~and actually enjoy it together!! We were especially cheering on our Oklahoma choir and our brave, amazing soldiers!! Maybe this was one way you could slow down for an evening of choir goodness! Hope you are feeling better-we love you and wish you a very Merry Christmas!
Amy
Hi Beth:
I just watched the choir program for the first time too and I loved it…I love listening to good music.
I have to tell you that I can so relate to your comments from yesterday…I too, gave in, and went to the doctor this morning…Turns out I have bronchitis…When I got the diagnosis I just smiled.
I hope you (and me) feel better soon…a shot and a z-pack will do wonders.
have a very Merry Christmas,
Lynn
I LOVED it, too! My hubby and I watched it together, and some of those songs flat out gave me chills. Wow! What will our heavenly choir be like???
Yes! I loved it!
And I was thinking of you last night because my husband is sick. Whenever he’s sick he says, “I got the suds.” (Yes, it is adorable when he says it). It is from Spongebob Squarepants.
Thought I’d share that gem, since you got the “suds” too!
Still praying for health and a Merry Christmas!
I did watch it and I loved it!!! I had a blast watching this show and I was rooting for Patti LaBelle!!! All of them were very good!!!
How are you feeling? I am praying for a speedy recovery for you!!
Much love,
Patty
I really wanted to but was so sad that I missed it and now even more sad! Will there be reruns? ๐ Sorry you were sick but so glad that you got some rest! And now you will be better for Christmas!
Amen to that!! I wish they’d do that kind of thing more often. ๐ Hope you’re feeling better
Last night I cried as well. The tribute from Team Houston to a deaf father was so touching!
We did watch some of it and it was really great!!!
You are wonderful and I hope you are feeing better!
Loving you in Jacksonville, Florida!
I was so bummed to miss it! It looked like a blast – sounds like you enjoyed it enough for all of us! Hope it becomes a regular show. Music Ministry is my thing anyway – I missed the show ’cause I was singing at a local assisted living facility for Christmas. I LOVE IT!! I try to get to as many each year as I can – it’s such fun to share the GOSPEL thru the Christmas story & songs…. You’d be amazed at how many of these folks have still not made JESUS LORD of their lives. So, I’ll just keep going back & reminding them that JESUS loves them!!
Happy Blog-a-versary Ya’ll, & a very Happy JESUS Day!!
Mistie Woods – Abilene
ps… I’m sooo excited, I’m planning to figure out this whole blogging thing Christmas afternoon – watch for Foggy Forest coming soon!!

Beth, I pray you are feeling better, Yes, I did watch the choirs. I loved it. I hope they do it again. I love the way that they did,nt drag it out forever. I was amazed at the talent and how they progressed each time they sang.I cried of course when the Dad that was deaf showed up!I liked them all.Do you think Patti Labelle knows our Lord? She said a few things that made me wonder.Well,I’m off The four grandchildren are coming to Granna’s to bake cookies and spend the night.WHOO-HOO I love this part of my life. Bgrannaboo in knoxville
Hi Beth,
I hope you are feeling better.
And DARN I wanted to watch Clash of the Choirs and FORGOT…drats. I hope it will be on again.
We are rooting for Travis’s friend, Denver on tonight’s show. 2 out of the 3 groups are Christians! GO GOD and GO DENVER!
Get well soon!
Kelly in Michigan (Believing God)
I also really enjoyed the choirs! I was glad for some wholesome TV to watch. I hope they do it again! Thanks for all you do, Beth. I hope that you are feeling better! Merry Christmas!
I didn’t watch it, but I meant to record it on TIVO. I love choir, so when I saw the previews, I got really excited.
LOVED IT! And last night, when the gentleman in Kelly’s Houston choir signed the whole verse to his deaf daddy, I nearly bawled like a baby. I just can’t take that sweetness! ๐ My husband and my 7 year old sweet daughter had a feud over team Lechey and team LaBelle and who would win. Needless to say, Daddy was a poor winner. ๐
Have a blessed Christmas, feel better, and as friend of mine says, “don’t let the stress bugs bite.”
I watched it and loved it as well. Loved hearing God’s name mentioned on Network TV. There’s nothing like the sound of a choir. Makes me anxious to be part of the heavenly one.
Merry Christmas
I did watch and I LOVED IT!
I was just telling my sister about it a few minutes ago and then we read your blog. I think even my husband got a little teary eyed. (Don’t tell him I told you)
What other TV shows do you like Beth?
I hope you are better by Christmas!
yes, i watched it, and i totally agree….great idea NBC! ๐

Mrs. Beth, I am sooo sorry that you are under the weather–get well soon!! I loved the clash of the choirs show–it is not too often that you can watch TV without running for the remote for mute or just turning it off!! It brought Patti Labelle right out of her shoes. I am shocked that her choir did not win!! Get better and Merry Christmas!!
Yep, cried my eyes out during Team Lachey and the song they did in sign language for the guy’s dad…….that was really cool!
I did watch, and it was so much fun! I was so sad that it came to an end so quickly. We missed the first night, but saw the rest. It was something we could watch with all of our children and they loved it, too! I loved when Tracy Morgan said “you can just feel God in the building.” Now that’s something we don’t hear on prime time anymore!

Our family just returned from Disneyland and I did ride Splash mountain with rain. Speaking of bad hair~ oH MY GOOdness! ๐
We prayed for your healing and are encouraged after reading your blog that you were standing to your feet and clapping your hands while watching Clash of the Choirs.
I look forward to watching it.
Until then, back to making Christmas cookies, wrapping gifts, singing carols and enjoying the PEACE that this season should bring all of us! HUG YOUR FAMILY MEMBERS AND DON’T WORRY ABOUT EVERYTHING BEING PERFECT. LIFE IS TOO SHORT !!!!
I love reading all the posts ~

MERRY CHRISTMAS & HAPPY NEW YEAR to everyone
It was fantastic. I had been looking forward to its debut and it was everything I had hoped it would be.
I’ve been here reading since the beginning of the blog, please keep it going. It’s one thing I look forward to help get me through the week.
Get well soon Beth.
I keep missing it! I have been wanting too because well it just sounds good.
Hope you are feeling better. Wishing you all a Merry Christmas.
Much love,
Angela
Yes! It was awesome–we enjoyed hearing some great music and watching a wholesome show. What a blast.
I wanted to watch and FORGOT because my sweet husband continues to pester – I mean REMIND – me that I have not yet sent the Christmas cards and wouldn’t it be nice to get them out before New Year’s this year and, oh yeah…let’s write a nice little letter telling everyone what we’ve been up to this year…and be sure and send ALL of those photos you ordered (so optimistically) a month ago…you know, since we’ve PAID for them!!! So, here I am…it’s nearly midnight…I haven’t written a single Christmas card and can’t seem to find the inspiration to finish the all-important Christmas letter…AND I had no time on the couch in my pj’s all curled up with a nice cup of hot chocolate watching a great tv show!! But I’m glad to hear it was so good and that so many of you were able to enjoy it…and I pray our LORD will heal you quickly, Beth, and that you get some good rest while your man is huntin’. Love, Kim
I commented last night and don’t see it here! But, I wanted to let you know that YES, I loved it this week. Very precious! I especially loved when they flew the Dad in to see his son perform and he signed for him! Oh my, too sweet!
Merry Christmas to all of you! (Moores, Jones’ and Living Proof!) I hope your holiday is absolutely wonderful!
Much love,
Lindsee
I agree! Awesome!
It was GREAT! My husband kept wanting to change channels when the little hostess was rambling on, but my daughter and I would holler till he went back. I’m with the other siestas who cried (I mean really cried, sobbing, had to blow my nose) over the son with the deaf father. How fun that we could all be sharing that same tender moment all over the country! Beth, take care of yourself. You know when you start feeling a little better, I bet you’re inclined to kick it back into high gear and you might relapse! So take it easy, sweetie and get better! Love to all the Moores and other living fruits.
The Journey Continues ~
Christmas blessings!!

Hallelujah! I am actually just coming out of lurker status and trying to sign-in, and I thought I should say something really profound and positive! So, “Hallelujah”!! Beth, I hope you are feeling better. I hope it does not sound trite to let you know how much your passion for the Word (and for the Lord) has profoundly impacted my relationship with Jesus over the last 7 years!!! I am forever grateful to the Lord for gracing you with the amazing gifts you offer so humbly and eloquently to all. THANK-YOU for being faithful to Him who called you!!!!So, this post may be totally off-topic, but I am a complete newbie at all this (“LOL”–OK, so totally “early 2,000’s”–this is why I don’t “TEXT”). Love everyone on this blog–God Bless you all!!!!! (Amanda and Melissa are BEAUTIFUL-inside and out–you are so blessed)! Merry Christmas to all~

Beth- it was great! ๐ It was a such a gift to hear great music!
Merry Christmas to you and your family!
Remember to keep Ms. Jeannie in your prayers tommorrow…we’ll all be thinking of the day our Jesus took our Stephanie home!
He is always the reason!
LOVED IT. LOVED IT. LOVED IT!
Did not…however did pick up Believing God in hardback lastnight along with Ruthless Trust lastnight at the bookstore while sipping a Gingerbread lattee. Life is good. God is good!
The two of those books seemed to go together, or compliment one another. We shall see.
Our Biblestudy group in on Christmas break and I may not survive “)

I tend to think that all my bible study teachers must always be on their face before God or doing something ultra radical for His Majesty which I know you do allot. It was nice to know that you were right their watching clash of the choirs right along side us. I am praying that you get better fast. Here’s to just a regular alone time evening with the Lord and a good show on t.v.
Beth,
I just knew you would like that show. You were wired to love some gospel, weren’t you, girlfriend?!
Bless you,
Bonnie
Hey there…
Nope… did not get to watch it… BUT, my family has been following the “Greatest American Band” on FOX… WOW… we cheered for “Denver and the Mile High Orchestra”. He made it all the way to third place and then a band named “Clark Brothers” (DEFINETLY GODLY MEN!) made it. Keep your eyes AND ears open for them. They are absolutely amazing!
Hope you’re feeling better.
