(Drum Roll Please!)
According to our random drawing, the lucky winner is…Gail Denlinger! (Comment posted on March 15, 2012 at 6:40 am.)
Gail, if you would please email me at [email protected] with your mailing address, we will get this Bible in your hands as soon as possible. Congratulations, Sister! Y’all check back next week for another fun giveaway. Have a wonderful weekend!
Update: Comments are now closed. Ladies, y’all are SO incredibly fun. And might I add serious about your Bibles and Bible translations. Praise the Lord! Check back tomorrow morning for the fun announcement of our lucky winner! And while I have your attention, our Siesta Mama actually gets up to speak at the conference for the first time in about 2 1/2 hours (It’s already Friday there). Your prayers would be so appreciated! See you in the morning!
Good Wednesday afternoon, Siestas!
By now you may have seen on twitter (if you’re a twitter user) that Beth and Amanda made it safely to Sydney! Jet lag is no joke there because in case you were wondering, Australia is 16 hours ahead of us. I kept joking that they were flying into the future. Whoa! You honestly would not waste a prayer on them as Beth and the team prepares to minister to the folks attending the Colour Conference. They are so pumped, but it doesn’t come without sacrifice and a lot of work. If you’ve not already been praying, start praying now because since they’re almost a day ahead of us, the conference begins sooner than later!
Anyway, we didn’t want the blog to suffer while our Siesta Mama was gone, so I’m here to do our first fun giveaway! (Yes, we’re doing another one next week. I know you’re pumped!)
I don’t know about you, but I love getting a new Bible.
In fact, just this past Sunday at church I was thinking it was time to put my old one aside and start searching for a new one. True story. I don’t know how much longer it will actually survive as it is literally falling apart (I don’t say that because I’m so spiritual, but more so to prove to you how old it is) and I don’t feel like digging out the duct tape to repair this one. (You know you’ve done it before, too!) Since I’m a creature of habit, I tend to stick with the same study Bible time after time, but I’m feeling kind of rogue and might venture out this time into the land of the unknown.
As much as I love getting a new Bible, there is a certain degree of separation that is hard to part from my old Bible. We’ve been through a lot. And I love looking back at all I’ve underlined and marked up. But I suppose a new season calls for a new Bible.
Anyway, I know you’re probably wondering why I’m going on and on about my Bible, and maybe I’ve convinced you that you need a new one to, to which I’ll say you’ve landed in the right place!
We have a really fun giveaway that I think you’ll like.
Recently our sweet Beth received a Life Essentials Study Bible (“The First Multi-Media Study Bible”) with her name engraved on the front. For those who are curious, the translation is the Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB). Here’s the deal, if our Siesta Mama hadn’t just purchased a new Bible for herself just prior to receiving this one, she would have kept it for herself. It was such a kind gesture from the publisher, but she really wanted to gift it to one our Siestas!
Besides this being a study Bible, it has some other really neat tools that I’ve personally been playing with to make myself familiar with it the past few days.
With our technology changing and updating as quickly as newborn babies change outfits everyday, it’s no shock to me that this Bible has a new addition to it that can be used with your smart phone.
If you look at the front cover (pictured above), and inside the Bible (there’s a little peek below), you’ll see a bar code looking symbol. That nifty little symbol we refer to as a QR code. If you own a smart phone, you can download a free QR Reader app, and then all you do is use that application to scan the bar code to find out more information about that particular item. All throughout this Bible are hundreds of QR codes that take you to a website to find out more information about that particular scripture. How fun is that? You certainly don’t need a smart phone to win this Bible, but that’s just a little bonus for those of you that do own one.
So, who is interested? Listen, if it weren’t for you, Siestas, I would have already claimed it for myself.
Here’s how it will work:
1) Leave a comment with your first and last name. If you don’t leave both, you won’t be eligible for the drawing!
2) For fun, if you’re into this kind of thing, go ahead and tell us in brief your favorite Bible. Shout out to all the Precious Moment’s Bible owners out there! I’m pretty sure I still have that one stowed away somewhere safe. What joy!
Ready? Set? Sound off in the comments! We’ll leave the comments open until 3:30 on Thursday afternoon (CST) and then we’ll do a random drawing and post the winner at the top of this post later that day. That means you will have a little over 24 hours to enter, so be on the lookout to see if your name appears!
Although I don’t want to assume everyone is on spring break, I would imagine most of you are, so if that’s the case, we so hope you’re enjoying every minute of it. And if you don’t get that luxury, I’m praying the Lord delights you where you’re at and gives you an extra dose of rest.
We love y’all!
My favorite bible is my Study Bible because of all of the personal notes I have written in it. In the event of a fire, it’s what I would grab first, after my family of course. 🙂
Lisa Hauptmann My grandfather’s Welsh bible-it’s all in Gaelic.
ok, i already responded earlier and only listed my bible versions; and i am not doubling this in order to have more chances, its more of an explaination what his word means to me. empty nester now, asking the Lord which new version will the holy spirit lead me to. i have loved everyone of the bibles i mentioned. and NO that wasn’t spiritual pride. because i am unschooled ordinary 56 year old, sometimes its my only credentials.
jeremiah 9:24
written in/cried over/lipstick marks from times of kissing his answers/all of the bibles i have been for a season(s) timely. he’s like that.
thanks living proof. you have all mentored me.
My favorite is the NKJV.
Laura Shapiro
My favorite (one of them) is my Hebrew-Greek Key Study Bible.
I like the NLT for using as an easy to understand version. But I’m using NIV women’s bible at the moment.
My favorite Bible is the NLT my parents bought me a few years ago because while I was staying with my dad after he had his first seizure I kept borrowing his to do my bible study homework. (Beth Moore study, if course 🙂
My name is Kimberly Moore (no physical relation to Beth, but siestas-in-Christ!). My favorite Bible, that I too have marked up, taped, and been around the block with is my Quest Study Bible (NIV). I’d love a new translation because each year I read through the Bible in a different translation. Thanks for the giveaway!
I love the Comparative Study Bible. It has 4 translations, the NIV, Amplified, KJV, and NASB. It’s only fault is the size. That may be why my cover is falling off! I think I need a new on : )
Deb Myers
My name is Jan Hullett and I love the NASB Inductive Study Bible, but also own some other favs too. All my Bibles are so special and hold so many memories that it is hard to pick just one. I would love to own the one you are giving away. Thank you for allowing someone to be so fortunate. God bless the winner!!
Wow! What a great looking Bible!!
Dori Cook and I love all my Bibles, but I dearly love the HCSB Study Bible. But it is ginormous!!
Incidentally, did you also know HCSB stands for Hard Core Southern Baptist?!?
Oh, I kid!!!
I still have my Bible that I received in third grade from our church. The front page is filled with gold star stickers which we received every Sunday for memorizing the Bible verse for the week. (you know the kind of stickers that you had to “lick” and “stick” and they are still stuck there after all these years. I am 53 now, but whose counting!!! And there is also one random dog sticker of Lassie (not sure the reason for this). This new Bible sounds wonderful!!!!!!!!!! Thanks Beth for thinking of us!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My favorite is new living translation life application Bible! always gives me great food for thought!
My favorite Bible is my Grandmothers King James Version. I do have a hard time reading that version but what I like about this Bible is knowing her hands held this Bible and seeing her handwriting inside the book makes my heart sore with happiness.
I love my NAS Bible!
Sarah Spencer
Favorite Bible is my John MacCarthur study Bible. Though it too is falling apart and not in daily use, it sits on a shelf ready to be referenced in times of need. His commentary helped me understand some of the difficult passages and some of the simple ones too, when I was just getting into Bible study. Such a blessing!
My current bible is an ESV. My goal has been to have a well loved bible to leave to each of my daughters(I have four) but I have now decided I would like to do the same for my grandchildren. I have had NIV, NASB and KJ bibles. I have a daughter who has been very helped by Beth’s teaching and can’t imagine how special that would be to her!She is really struggling in her faith and I would give it to her right away.
When studying Inductive Bible, for daily reading Life Application….My, my how He speaks to us each day…..Gratefully HIs…kathy

Stacie Cordell : I still use the first Bible I bought for myself after becoming a Christian 11 years ago! (I’ve taped it back together several times!!). It’s a NIV, but lately through YouVersion I’ve been enjoying the New Living Translation, too.
The Bible I study from and have used for years is the NIV Study Bible. Isn’t this fun! Thank you for letting us be a part of this drawing!!!
Anna Smith

Tara Koetter
Lori Granniss
I love my NAS Spirit Filled Bible. It has great study notes.
Hi Girls
My name is Sharon St. Clair. My favorite bible of all times was an NIV given to me on my birthday years ago by a dear friend. It was at a time of many trials in my life. That Bible and I went through a lot. It carried many of my tears on its onion skin pages. I think there were more verses highlighted than not. I finally relented and got a new one several years later, but pulled it out often like I was spending time with an old friend. Just about two years ago, the Lord prompted me to give that bible to a co-worker who was searching. Oh how hard but how beautiful to be a part of God working. Blessings
Alison McCown
I love my NIV Life Application Study Bible. 🙂
Kimberly Cumby, my fav Bible is one that i used when my mom discipled me in and i marked through the Bible with colored pencils…it also has notes written in it from friends around the globe.
Joyce Davidson

I’d love another bible! Currently I’m using the Life Application Study Bible (NLT) and it is my favorite by far!
Well, I use those study apps for different translations. So the only bible I’ve ever owned is my Here’s Life Edition of The Open Bible (NASB) since college. Love to you all!

The Message
My name is Judy Cole and I like the Amplified for study since it’s really big with room for lots of notes but I take the NIV to church.

My name is Diane Rippen and I love my NIV Concordia Self-Study Bible – I am Lutheran and it has great study notes with a Lutheran interpretation right on the page.
Hey LPMer’s!
Patsy Harris here. For the past few years I have been using the Spirit Filled Bible. Lot’s of extra info, definitions, etc. Like everyone else, I would love, love, love to have the bible you are so generously giving away.
Look forward to seeing my name (hopefully) as the “chosen one” in about 12 minutes from now!
Lisa Flippin, Memphis,Tn. My favorite study Bible is my Life Application NASB. After studying the truth, it helps me know better how to apply to everyday life what I have just studied. My 2 favorite Bibles, the pages are falling out!!

My fav, is the International Inductive Study Bible in the NASB. I love it! Great pictures, maps, timelines, etc. (oh, can I even give it up???)

NSAB, NIV, KJV… I have one of each I like to explore and use different versions especially for Bible studies… Some are easier to read and understand than others
My favorite bible is one that is full of my scribbles and highlights as I walked step by step through God’s word for the first time. It has been lost and found its way back to me many times. I am so grateful I still have it as worn as it is. We have been through so much together and it is a visible reminder that God’s word will endure and change me.
Growing up in the church–a Bible Quizzer, no less–I’ve had a LOT of different Bibles pass through, though I’ve yet to find one I LOVE. A good study Bible I can sink my teeth into! I’ve become familiar with the HCSB thru Beth’s studies however, and this would be a FANTASTIC win for me!
My favorite Bible was the KJV my grandmother used. I don’t use it because it’s literally falling apart. The inscription on the inside says it’s actually my mother’s Bible, given to her in 1955. My grandparents gave it to her as a gift, and obviously somehow they were able to keep using it! Inside my grandmother wrote down all of the family births and deaths. My grandmother has been gone almost 20 years, so it is a treasure to me.
My name is Denise Unterse. My bible story is that my husbndbouht me my frst bible 10 years ago. Ithas been repaie twce and need it gain! It is a NIV stud Bible and I LOVE it!Ihaveso much stuff wrote in it! I know I need a new one!
My favorite Bible is the one I am currently using. It has my hand written notes (many from Beth’s comments that helped further explain particular verses).
