OK, you guys made me so hungry with all your recipes that I could have eaten my own arm off. That was so much fun! I’m going to narrow my choices down at the first of next week and I also plan to keep going through the recipes over the Christmas holidays. I can’t express to you how much your participation blesses my life and watching you relate to one another is right up there with the best parts. My life is so much richer with you in it.
Michelle and I have our suitcases packed and we’re heading up to Rapid City, South Dakota for this weekend’s Living Proof Live. We are going in a day early because it takes several flights to get there and our arrival time on Friday would have left no time for a delay. A cancellation (sadly not unusual) would have been pretty catastrophic. As it is, we’ll fly out before noon today and get there tonight. I am super excited though. I can tell you in advance this will be one of my favorite groups ever. (I’m not sure I’ve said that many times before, come to think of it.) Travis, the team and I LOVE North and South Dakota. We have story after story and memory after memory from those two great States. Oh, how we pray Jesus will show up so powerfully and do such depth of ministry, restoration, and reconciliation that we remember it forever. I have said so many times that I believe in “events.” I believe that something can happen when we get away from our usual surroundings and go, in effect, to a “high mountain apart” with Jesus. (Matthew 17) Right there we can see Him transfigured in such a way that marks our entire estimation of Him. Yes, those kinds of fresh revelations can happen any day and even amid our usual routine but there’s nothing quite like saying, “I’m going to spend the weekend with Jesus and I’m not coming home without Him.” I don’t think He ever turns us away empty handed when we determine to seek Him with that kind of tenacious spirit.
Anybody want to come to Rapid City for Living Proof Live this Friday and Saturday but lack the money for a ticket? Oh, please call us and come! My beloved coworker Kimberly told me a few weeks ago when we were in Spokane that some of the women who got free tickets to the event literally cried on the phone. (You don’t need to do that for us to appreciate the privilege though. Grin.) It moved me so deeply and even now I could get a lump in my throat over it. I want you to know that these free tickets are gifts from this entire blog community. Several years ago we established the Siesta Scholarship Fund and you cannot fathom all the tickets and materials and scholarships that have gone out of our office through the provision. We laughed yesterday that God seems to treat it like the widow’s jar of oil in the Old Testament. We can’t seem to use it up. I believe He has honored it.
So, if you’d like to come but can’t manage the cost of the ticket right now, there are 20 comps just waiting to be claimed. Call Living Proof Ministries at 1-888-700-1999 during work hours today or tomorrow and talk to either Kimberly or Susan. Remember that Houston is Central Standard Time when you place your call.
The entire staff of Living Proof Ministries is blessed beyond measure to serve you and every single one of us considers you a huge priority. The word “Siestas” is said multiple times around our offices every single week. (In fact, we’ve got something fun in the works for you right now that I’m excited to tell you about but that will have to wait. I’ll just keep you wondering.)
OK, gotta get to the airport! I love you, Girls.
Your blog mama.
Mama Beth,
Each time that I see you are going to be in a new city I just wish so desparetly that I was going to be there! I’m counting down the days until we get to have your team here in Charlotte!! I just want to put my arms around your neck and tell you what a blessing you are to each of us and that I love you to pieces!
I saw that you were heading to Asheville last weekend and I sat straight up in my chair and said to myself “how did I not know she was coming to NC??” Then I saw it was a private gathering and smiled when I realized I was going to be out of town anyway. Grin.
I’m almost completely caught up on reading all of the blogs from years past and let me tell you, it has been such a tremendous joy!
Sending prayers for your trip this weekend and that God’s love will flow all over each one of you there!
Much love,
Amber Moon
I so wanted to come to this event. I have a dear friend there who lost her son a little over a year ago, and her husband a couple of months ago. However, I am do to be a grandma any day now, and money for a plane ticket was not in my budget right now. I am going to call her and see if she might be coming. I so hope so! We have been friends for a long time, and she helped me through breast cancer when we were both young! About 37 years ago. I just wanted to bring her, but maybe you will be back there next year and we can come.
Love Rapid City – we took a vacation to that area and there is an incredible little place called “The Wine Cellar” that has a risotto that will put you under the table!!!! Their food is outstanding – we have thought of going back just to eat at that restaurant! It is such a great location for various excursions throughout the state and Mount Rushmore was incredible – I cried when we got there at 7:30 a.m. – it was so still and quiet and hardly any people at that time – the sun was rising and it was amazing . . . have a great time! Blessings on the women attending.
so happy to hear you got there okay.
especially after plane scare before.
where best to mail you something? beth, through email or postal mail. happy thanksgiving. pat.
A group of my dear friends are there in Rapid City right now(I’m out of the country). Praying that they receive God’s fullness for them!
Praying that y’all are having a fabulous time in the LORD right now! I was born in Rapid City and I live in Minot, North Dakota for 6 years, so you are in a state that definitely has my heart!
Beth Herring
This week I registered for the Living Proof Live event in Fresno, CA in April! I can’t wait!! You are such a blessing and God is really using your messages and your ministry to speak to me right now. Thanks for everything!! 🙂
Praying you have a wonderful weekend in South Dakota! The wonderful and wise leader of our bible study (Beloved Disciple!) up here (Airdrie, Alberta) is volunteering on your prayer team – we’re all so excited for her to be able to serve God in this way. Sending you lots of love, and lots of prayers too…
I TOO HAVE SOMETHING FUN FOR YOU !!!!!!!!
I LOVE YOU SO MUCH!!!!
YOUR OTHER DAUGHTER
I’d be happy with a hot pretzel and coffee from the Airport…. LOL…

Beautifully Awkward
Spent such a wonderful evening with the Lord last night, thanks to you as the messenger. Oh how I wish we could meet for coffee so I could tell you all about the ways he is working in my life. Last night when you went over point number 4 I wanted to stand and yell the name of another friend somewhere in the auditorium and say, “sherri, did you hear that?, God did this EXACT thing(morphing)in your life”!!!!! I settled for texting her but I almost feel disobedient in not standing in the name of our Powerful Jesus and claiming His great work in my dear friends life!!! Thanks Beth and team
Stay warm Miss Beth…Just heard it was 1 degree in Rapid City. May God continue to reign down His Blessings on you and the team.
Love You All.
I have been praying lots over the last few days for this event! I hope it has been WONDERFUL and that you all met God in amazing and fresh ways! Blessings!
Heather from Lewiston
Rapid City event was so inspiring, it really touched my heart. Thank you for your ministry..I pray I can follow through with your message and let God work in my life…Thank you again
I so wanted to go to this event. My family just moved from South Dakota in August. Can anybody tell me what Bible passages Beth used for this weekend? Thanks!
Joy and Anguish and it was so relevant in my life…she hit the nail right on the head.
Travel mercies go out to you, Michelle and the pilots! Our final “Esther” session was last week and just wanted to know what a difference it made to our group of 16. I was sad that my Haman’s Ears cookies didn’t turn out so I hopped over to the international bakery only to find it had closed. But others brought some and they were wonderful. Just ordered the updated “David” and can’t wait to start. Looking forward to your return to Michigan. Love Michelle in Lansing!
Michele, Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to lead our Ester study. The last class spoke to my heart so deeply. It was exactly what the lord wanted me to know.
How about a Siesta cook book?!?!?!
Just returned home from the conference. Beth and your worship team was unbelievable. I cannot put it into words. I am so glad I was able to make the trip. I look forward to seeing you again!
I wish I could have gone to Rapid City! I was there celebrating my birthday with you the last time you were in Rapid City.
Oh, my! Now, I don’t feel so quilty about not having my recipe to give you (or I should say my husband’s). That’s so unfair, you teasing us like that with what you have in the works! Why shouldn’t I tease you?! By the way, you talked about “events.” That is exactly the kind of experience I had in Spokane! God really has “Spokane” to me! I am now writing a devotional book, which I’d already committed to doing before, but was a little unsure about it. That conference confirmed for me that that is exactly what I’m supposed to be doing and I am. I already have over 20, 000 words written! It’s pretty rough right now, but you could say I’ve been pretty inspired! My husband even bought me a new flashdrive to save my book on, so I won’t lose if something happens with our computer. And yes, I’ve written that all in only 20 days. I started on the 1st. I also got the idea of writing a series of blog posts about raising girls, because when you told us that your girls nearly killed each other growing up, my mind immediately tried to relate (I’m like that) and all I could picture is my girls doing each others nails and helping each other with their homework and whispering to each other in their bedroom that they share (when they’re supposed to be sleeping) and of course, helping each other do their hair. I realized that that has not been my experience for the most part. They have their moments, but my girls are already each others best friends and I started thinking about what I think contributes to that. So far, I just have a post kind of introducing my girls on the scene, but I’m working on it. Just last night at Celebrate Recovery I was talking about my kids afterwards and one of the gals that works in childcare there said to me, “You know what I love most about your children? I love how they love each other. It’s just obvious in the way they interact with each other that they really do love each other.” She commented about how my daughter, Angela, just that evening had thrown her arm across Jeremiah’s (my son) shoulder and he didn’t try to push her away or anything. Mind you, he’s 12 years old! Twelve year old boys don’t usually like that sort of thing! Anyway, if you’re interested in that or in getting a few snippets of my book so far you can find that at:

My daughter thoroughly enjoyed and was deeply blessed by the Rapid City conference. She had the privilege of meeting Beth twice. Once in the hotel and once back stage. I wish I could have gone!!
The event in Rapid City was incredible! Thank you, Beth!! It was very cool and touching the way your team exited the stage while 3600 women were in worship. It left the clear message, “This is not about us but God, and He alone deserves the encore.” Your humility speaks volumes.
I am blessed.
As always, I received a fresh Word this weekend under your teaching. But I not only came home with Jesus… I came home with a daughter who caught a fresh FIRE in her. She WANTED to buy a Bible Study book at the Lifeway tables afterward…Not because her mom said she should or because she felt she should but because she WANTS to be in the WORD. What you said about praying for your girls to love Jesus…THAT’S what I pray for my girls too. SHE is the one who asked to do the Revelation study together too.
My heart is so happy. 🙂
Thank-you for your ministry to me and my girls. You are loved.
Melana
Moosemama Melana, I saw you in the video with the moose. 🙂
HA! Me and the dorky look on my face! I was excited to be there and excited to see Rich and I just had to wave Moose in front of him. He smirked to…Rich, not Moose 🙂
That’s awesome, God is so good Melana!
Rapid City is my home…So happy you came for a visit. I have been getting these same verses from many different directions this week. I know that God is speaking to me.
I have many lessons to learn yet about life but felt that Joy and Anguish are the real meat I needed to chew on and now I need to digest the knowledge and really let it nourish me so that I can remember to let the head knowledge work in my life.
Thanks for extending your life to us. I have many things that are horrible qualities about me but I know they are the very things that God is using to help me learn and grow.
Will look forward to your NEXT visit to Rapid City.
OK, gals, I just saw the recipe request, so here goes. This one originated when my kids were little, and everyone in the family seems to love it. It doesn’t matter how you feel about figs, it’s just a delicious cake. You can buy fig preserves at some (but not all) grocery stores in the jam and jelly section. I hope you enjoy it!
Fig Preserve Cake
2 ½ C. sugar
1 ½ sticks butter
4 eggs
1 C. buttermilk
1 tsp. baking soda
2 C. fig preserves
3 C. flour
1 tsp. each ground nutmeg, cinnamon, and cloves
1 tsp. vanilla
1 C. nuts if desired (or you can put pecans on top of the frosted cake)
Cream sugar and softened butter; add well beaten eggs. Mix soda with buttermilk and add to first mixture. Sift flour and spices together and gradually add these dry ingredients. Add preserves, vanilla and nuts. Bake about 1 ½ hours at 300 degrees in Bundt or tube pan, shorter time in two loaf pans.
Frosting
1 8-oz. package cream cheese, softened (I use fat-free)
1 stick softened butter or margarine
1 box sifted powdered sugar
2 tsp. vanilla
Mix after cake has cooled and spread on cake. Put cake in refrigerator for frosting to set and to store it safely.
God bless you all during this special Thanksgiving season!
Your amazing! Keep shining!
This is a repeat and certainly not worthy of a winning nod, however, my friends and I have found Sister Schubert’s yeast rolls in the grocer’s freezer as good as home made. All the men in my family agree and that is a tough crowd to please. I pray the LPM event blessed you as much as you blessed those attending.
I am home from the Raid City “Celebration” and it was WONDERFUL and POWERFUL!!!!
Could I please get a copy of the words we said to one another at the end of the conference? They were so meaningful but too much to remember.
I was with a very good friend and it was extra special to share those words.
I also have a brother that has just gone through alcohol treatment and we have all experienced the anguish and the joy. Thank you for a better understanding of those feelings.
God Bless, Marlenna Walker
Beth,
I pray all your prayers were answered for your special appointment in Rapid City. It is a beautiful city with beautiful people. My husband’s family is from there and the one time we visited it was -35 below and I fell in love with it! lol
I just wanted to say thank you for your obedience as so many of us are blessed by it and through it. I love your “big Texas” hair and your “big Texas” heart.
If you are passing through Las Vegas on the 4th Thursday of the month I would love to invite you to the Businesswomen for Christ group monthly luncheon. I have 350 women who are on our list and let me tell you what happens at our luncheons in Las Vegas, doesn’t stay here but goes directly up to heaven to Glorify GOD! 🙂 We would love to have you join us!
Peace be with you and your family during this Thanksgiving holiday.
Thank you again for all you do!
Kimberly
Spent the weekend with you in Rapid City. WOW! I learned so much and was totally blessed by Joy, and how you told her, Satan was of course was going to go after her with that name, the Joy in my life was buried last week after a 7 year battle with cancer and is now triumphant! Also, Friday night while you were speaking I got a text that a friend of mine’s husband had been killed cutting firewood in MI. You message spoke to me that I know that Janet’s anguish is co existing with her joy. Her husband also went Home! And then your story of the plane and Keith being with the dearlings. Ah yes, something else you and I share, my man was so excited I was going to Rapid City so he could go pheasant hunting with no guilt:) I totally get hunting season! From a fellow hunting season widow, Love, Carol VW
Oh, how I long so much to be able to see Beth Moore in person. But unfortunately due to a major lack of finances due to my deteriorating health and my monthly medications I need just to be able to function at all I will never be able to see her. I so long just to have her books and her CDs and DVDs but alas I cannot even afford those. Please pray for me as I reread “Get Out of That Pit” for the 6th time as it is the only book I have of hers. My health issues are starting to get me back into the pit of depression again. Most of the time I am bed-ridden due to my back and my Fibromyalgia.
Oh, Beth Keep on keeping on Girl!! You are such a blessing! Thank you for your heart for God!
I love your belief in “events.” What you said is so true~ this past year has been a wonderful breaking free from many things, and it began in September of 2009 when I attended Deeper Still in Orlando. God spoke to me on so many levels during that whole weekend, but after the first night I went home and deeply grieved in my bed. I’m sure it was the Spirit’s way of purging me from a lot of the things I’d held on to (that I shouldn’t), so that I could start to move forward and grow. It was just refreshing to hear you give that perspective <3 I hope the event went well beyond what you expected 🙂
I love this blog site so much. Sometimes it is just the highlight of my day. The love of Christ comes right through the computer~ o.k. it that just me? Does anyone else feel it too. Blessed Thanksgiving to all of you out there in Siestaville! Let us Praise our Precious Lord together!
I’m so blessed by you! Just wanted to say that this week 🙂
Thank you!
