Twenty Seven Million

Hey, Siestas! Today is a really great day for fighting human trafficking, wouldn’t you say?! Matt Redman’s new single “Twenty Seven Million” is available on iTunes here in the United States this very day. This incredibly powerful song was recorded live at Passion 2012 and I kept singing it for days after I got home. It’s the kind of song that clicks immediately in your soul and keeps hitting repeat. I will be so glad to hear it again in their gifted voices instead of my own. Grin. You will totally love the new recording and downloading it will also make you a part of powerful move of God to educate the world about the atrocities of human trafficking and press forward toward the goal of ending it in Jesus’ Name. Sing to it. Dance to it. BE AWARE OF IT. Be part of doing something about it.

To enjoy and also join in, download it to your computer: click here.

In order to do this, you do have to have iTunes installed on your computer. If you don’t have iTunes, no fear, simply click here and follow the steps provided. In case you weren’t aware, iTunes is free so you just pay for the individual music. This song is just $1.29.

If you do have iTunes, another easy way to find the song is to simply search “Twenty Seven Million” in the search bar of your iTunes.

Basically what we’re saying is, do whatever you can do purchase it, own it, be a part of it,  love it and spread the word about it! It’s a very inexpensive way to be part of something HUGE. Something that could touch 27 million lives.

What you may not know is that, besides recording it live, we also filmed the official “Twenty Seven Million” video at Passion. You don’t know what adrenaline feels like until you hear 44,000 people singing, “We’ve got to rise up, open our eyes up. Be her voice, be her freedom, come on stand up!”, all while jumping up and down like pogo sticks. If you really want to have some fun and experience vicariously what we experienced that night, you can watch the video on YouTube here. However, if you’re willing, don’t stop at watching the video. Become part of this freedom cry with us!

I love you, Siestas. You are dear to me. Let us not grow weary in doing some honest-to-goodness good!

PS. We’ll schedule a livestream really soon! I was so preoccupied for eight days with Mrs. Mary Helen’s homegoing that I had to drop out of the loop for a little while. I thought of you everyday anyway. Thank you for your gracious hearts toward her and your many comments regarding the testimony of her life. It meant so much to me.

Love the pogo stick look! I was doing that this very morning while cleaning the breakfast dishes in my kitchen and rocking out to Matt Gilman’s song “Holy.” And “Closer,” tho the pogo stick idea doesn’t work so much on that song.

Thanks for being a voice on this issue, Beth. I’m weirdly saddened and kind of embarrassed that I knew so little (like practically nothing) about it until you started talking it up a few months ago. Am I one of the few who was so out of this incredibly necessary loop? Wow. For living in the most in tune, in touch, integrated (technologically) generation, ever; it’s disheartening to have been so totally unaware to such a need.

Now I will scoot myself over to itunes….

Beth, if you haven’t seen it yet, try to find a copy of the documentary Nefarious. It’s about this very topic and it’s fairly recent, which I loved because it gives you an up-to-date view of the issue of human trafficking.

My office hosted a viewing of the documentary on campus and I expected about 150 students to show up for it; imagine my surprise when we had 475 instead! You should have seen me running around trying to open up extra lecture halls for the students to squeeze into. So amazed at how God is aligning hearts for this issue!

Beth, I’ll download the song and sing and dance to it…but what I REALLY want to be able to download is YOU reciting the book of James. I’m on week 4 (Lufkin FUMC) and I love it. It’s the first bible study I’ve taken really seriously and I’m soaking it all up. Please make it available on you tube or itunes or wherever!

    with much love,
    Suzy

ps I’m also following Gay’s installments and loving every word of them.

      Suzy,
LPM included it on the first DVD of the study. It would be located on the menu when you put in the DVD.
My group will start week 4 this week! Are you memorizing it???
Prayers as you study and soak it in!!

      • Suzy says:

I’ve heard it on the DVD (I had the leader’s box for a week and listened to it over and over again!), but I want it on my iPod so I can listen to it whenever I want! I’m thinking I will try to memorize it.

        • Courtney says:

That’s awesome! You totally should! I’m doing it and I’m up to 2:13. I started memorizing Scripture on a regular basis in Jan 2011 and can honestly say that Scripture memory is the most fruit-bearing discipline I’ve ever practiced! You’ll be blessed–no doubt!!

    Hey Beth,
The Passion Digital All Access card uploaded the music video last week, so I’ve been watching/listening nonstop too, for a week! It is so cool to watch and remember being there. My arms were filled with goosebumps during the entire song that night–especially when the place erupted in 44,000 people jumping like mad, aka “rising up”! 🙂
I don’t think it is any coincidence that my bible study group is on Week 3 of Mercy Triumphs homework where James says, “Religion that is pure and undefiled before God the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction and to keep oneself unstained from the world” (1:27) and to “be doers of the Word, not hearers only, deceiving yourselves” (1:22). I’ll be sending this along to my group! What a unique opportunity in our technological age to be doers ALONG WITH the implanted WORD, Christ Jesus, in us!
Blessings to you and your staff!
    Courtney
PS. I so often wish that we could upload pictures to the blog, especially today! I would love for you to see a picture I took this morning while I spent time with Jesus, of my chocolate lab sleeping on my Bible while I journaled! I tweeted it and captioned it, “Two of my favorite things!” 🙂

“all while jumping up and down like pogo sticks.” My very favorite thing about young people’s events! I absolutely LOVE jumping up and down like a pogo stick! That is the one thing I miss the most about youth ministry! I sort of relived the youth that I missed through them and I LOVED it! When your a youth leader (yes, you have to be responsible for them, ultimately) you get to do crazy, fun things that kids do. I wasn’t allowed in my home growing up. I was expected to act like an adult all the time! In fact, if you ask my family you shouldn’t be passionate or excited about anything in any way, which I totally ignore and I’m sure they think I’m a fanatical freak, but oh, well!

However, I have learned multiple times the hard way that at my age after having given birth to three children, before jumping up and down like a pogo stick you must use the restroom 🙂 Take it from me, there had better not be ANYTHING in your bladder before doing that, or it’s gonna come out! Just trust me on this one, okay. I’m humiliating myself for the sake of saving someone else the embarrassment. Gravity works on soooooo many levels after the age of thirty! I now understand why most adults don’t do this. I can’t resist so I make sure my bladders empty!

    Beth,

I am also quite saddened to admit how very little I have known about the state of human trafficking. Thank you for this eye-opening post. The song is a heart-thumping, soul-sizzling wake-up call, and I just LOVE it! I am going to post about this on my blog, to see how many other women are aware of this issue in our world.

Thank you for shining the Lord’s light. This is my first comment on your blog, but I have been reading for years. Be blessed, gals!

Just a note to say what a blessing you are in my life. You have helped me open my eyes and walk & abide in His Glorious Presence. I’m on my third year of scripture memorization. There is such power and freedom in knowing His Word and having it stored in my heart. I’ve been a Christian for 30 years and never thought memorization was within my reach. And praying face down! I had bowed down in spirit but not face to the floor – how did I survive without this closeness to God?! I praise God for His faithfulness . . . His teachers, preachers, prophets and apostles that guide and direct us to a closer relationship to Him! Thank you, Lord, for your unfailing love and your wonderful deeds for men! I love Him so.

    Hi Siestas!

Thanks to all of you who have downloaded 27million!

Have you ever said or thought, “If I had been alive in the time of slavery, I would have done something to stop it”? Well, you DO live in the time of slavery. And you CAN do something to stop it.

You can get information and join the fight to abolish human trafficking by logging on to the A21 Campaign’s website: http://www.a21campaign.org

A21 is rescuing the enslaved every day and is successfully prosecuting their captors. Get informed, spread the word and join the fight. These are voiceless victims – you can be their voice. You can be their freedom!

Beth, I downloaded and listened to 27 Million early this morning. It still plays as I write. I am undone-laid bare before God.

As a survivor of 12 years of childhood sexual abuse, there are lines in this song that I understand. That I feel.

As a writer, I’m asking God what to do with this awareness. He will lead, I know. One step at a time.

Thank you for sharing this song.

    Beth,

I was on A21’s website yesterday…It made me feel uneasy and nauseated inside, but I knew that I needed to somehow get involved, so I wrote down some of their suggestions on how to help. My church had a Sunday night service a couple weeks ago to raise awareness on a number of social atrocities, and human trafficking was one of them…it made me want to be used by the Lord to help those who are oppressed and abused…I prayed to Him and told Him I want to help. I want to do what I prayed. I’m glad the Lord led you to post this. I didn’t know Matt Redman had this song out there. I’m glad I know now! Many ((HUGS)) to you Beth!

I just finished week four of James. I love this study. God is really speaking to me through James! I just watched Session 4 where you talked about the Shekinah. Did you know that there is a song called ‘Shekinah’ sung by Jaye Thomas and Cory Asbury. There are other artists who sing the song….but I like this one the best! Check it out if you haven’t heard it. It’s awesome.

Thanks for all that you do to teach us more about God. I am grateful for your hard work and obedience to God.
