Good day, my brilliant and beautiful Siestas! I am in a SIESTA MOOD! I wish we could go back and forth on here all day long. To God’s great glory and sustaining grace, I am slowly climbing out of a HUGE pile of work and can see some sun shining through a very dense forest. This sanguine is looking for a P-A-R-T-Y but it’s a tad premature and I better not jump the gun. The good news is, I only have one more chapter to write for the book on women and insecurity and, Girlfriend, to tell you my soul has profited from the process is a vast understatement. GOD HAS BEEN IN MY BUSINESS. The only two things that have ever gotten this far under my own skin were Breaking Free and When Godly People Do Ungodly Things.
Anyway, that’s another post for another time. Let me try to get back on theme here. I am writing today to ask you two questions:
1. Does anybody need a Siesta scholarship ticket to the Fargo, North Dakota Living Proof Live this weekend? We have ten tickets we’re dying to give away so, if you want to go but don’t have the money for a ticket, call LPM toll free at 1-888-700-1999 and ask for Susan or Kimberly. They’ll get you fixed up right away! By the way, North Dakota girls, I cannot WAIT to get my hands on you. We could not be happier to come your way.
2. I am going through the five stages of grief over the discontinuance of my world’s FAVORITE INK PEN. I only learned the bad news yesterday so I’m early in the process. I have cherished my slender Fine Point Blue Ink Forays for years and have gone through no less than several hundred of them. I have persevered through numerous plastic quills leaking under the air pressure on planes and have proudly worn their ink all over my hands, forearms, and face. I even glanced at the rear view mirror in my car last week on my way home from work and had a big blue spot of ink on the end of my nose. I jotted Michelle a text (yes, at a stop light and with my seat belt on) and asked her if she just happened to notice the huge navy splotch on the tip of my generous nose and she responded, “No, Ma’am, I have been too busy watching your teeth.” (That is because Kay Arthur told all of us at Deeper Still that, as you get older, your teeth collapse forward – she used that very word “collapse” – and you can get all manner of stuff caught in them. I was so disturbed that I put Michelle on watch like a bird dog on point and still could hardly sleep that night.)
Anyway, how did I get off on all that??? I’m simply trying to tell you that my favorite ink pen – the very pen I’ve been obsessed with for my entire recent ministry life – is vanishing from the face of God’s green earth. Why, I ask you? WHY???? (That’s not really the question though.)
SO, I am on the lookout for a new kind. I want it to write WELL. Slide on the page. Dance on every line. Don’t tease with me here, Siestas. I’m raw. I need to hear from you. Anybody out there in Siestaville discovered your own ultimate ink pen? Start talking.
IMPORTANT UPDATE: Michelle just walked into my office with the TOP SIX SIESTA PENS for me to test drive. She researched your responses and went straight to Office Max. I will let you know my selection soon! I’m so nervous. This is big.
ANOTHER IMPORTANT UPDATE: TESTING IN PROGRESS
Nancy from GA, don't even mess with my mind like that! What if they discontinued my one and only favorite bra that I have in FIVE COLORS?????????????????? You have danged near wrecked my day.
PS. If I could be sure no men would read these comments, I'd tell you which one I wear…because I get it at Target and it's got all the right stuff.
Pilot Precise V7. All the way, Mom. Not V5, it's too skinny.
Miranda, you send your Siesta Mama your address and I will send you a pen for at least $1.99. I am so glad you are on this blog. I love your age so much that I cannot express it.
I just need to know where I can get me a Michelle.
๐
When Bath and Body works was discontinuing my favorite body lotion fragrance (Green Tea and Cucumber) I went and bought a supply that has lasted me for several years. Go to Office Depot and buy them out of your favorites so they last a few years. That way, you can test other pens but still have your favorite to use until you find a new favorite!
You are ridiculously cute Siesta Mama!
I mean it!
Bic ReAction Gel .7–fantastic!!
May I just say that I read this entry and praised God that I am not alone in my pen issues!!! I hate writing with ink that leaks, blotches or doesn't flow right…and when the pen scratches the paper… GAG!! Thanks for making me feel sane, if only for this moment! ๐
Beth —
Make no bones about it, I will be on the look out in my littel part of the world for those pens.
Becky
Oh dear me! I can appreciate having a good pen, I always find one tht I like and then it walks away….
Why don't you just buy a refill for the pen you had? It would dull the anguish over having to switch ๐
I absolutely love the Precise V7 RT by Pilot. Blogged about it here: http://www.digitalkaren.com/2007/05/03/easy-writer/
I am never without one!
Beth, you are a hoot! I'm not so good with pens. I usually just pick up the standard Papermate pen. They seem to glide and dance pretty well. I like the gel ones but they run out of ink so fast that they almost aren't worth it. But, if you needed pencil info, I could give you the scoop. Ticonderoga. Black. The best pencil out there – hands down! Feels good in the hand. Sharpens nicely. Smooth on the page. Perfect!
Hope you find the right fit. I know how important those kinds of things can be. ๐
I second the http://www.officemax.com/brands/tul/tul-pens/product-ARS24535
I got them for free when I bought $50 worth of officemax printer ink. I'm in love. I went to the website and see that I can get an assorted pack with purple in it.
Beth, I will send you my one of my favorite pens, I will look for the ones without the chew marks on them. Or maybe I will find the one with the least amount of chew marks. Loves you lots it will be in the mail Wednesday.
I've gotta say it – Pilot Pens!
Also, I found the best bra at Walmart, but we won't go there..

It must be a writer's thing. I've always loved to write and I am obsessed with my pens. It drives my husband crazy. (In case you hadn't notice yet, IIIIII just plain drive my husband crazy and yet for some reason he still adores me!) He won't let me buy anything but cheap pens cause he says I can have fancy pens when I start bringing home a paycheck. So, I've been trying to find some good treasures at The Dollar Tree. Testing all kinds. Just yesterday, I bought some gel pens in hot pink and lime green! I was so excited. I can't wait until I get more money from change in the laundry to buy more colors. I'll be able to color code every new subject! I'm so excited! My journals have never looked so bright and beautiful. My kids just think I'm insane! My tomboy daughter leaned over me and rolled her eyes when I was writing a story I'd been working on in my mind at the pool yesterday, and said, "What is with you and pink?!" She hates pink. She thinks I'm way to girly and need to get over it!
After looking at the picture, i vote for the Precise V5 Rolling Ball. I'm sorry about the loss of your favorite ink pen. Mine died during the Esther Bible study. While I was doing the homework. I can't remember what type of pen it was, though; I'm a college student so I go through a lot of them and don't really pay attention to the brands. I think Uniball usually serves me well, though. I hope you find an AMAZING new pen soon!
Oh, and speaking of the 5 stages of grief, I'm reading Get Out of That Pit right now, and it made me go back to Youtube to find a clip a friend showed me from Robot Chicken called "The 5 Stages of Grief". It's about a giraffe who's going through them while stuck in a pit of quicksand. Except for the swearing, it's pretty funny and I just had to see if it related to what you were saying in the book.
God bless!
Pentel RSVP Fine is the only kind I will ever use again. It comes in Blue, Black, Green, Red, and, my personal favorite, Purple! And, being a lefty, it doesn't smear as much as others I have tried to use.
Sometimes I feel like you invade my brain and then write stuff LOL. I see you tested a G-2…good pen, bu the extra fine version is MUCH BETTER. Depends on how much ink you like but it enables a lot of writing in a small space. Since I use it in my Bible – this is profitable for me.
:O) Good luck,
April P.
PS – When Kay said that at the event & of course some of the other stuff – I almost cried LOL.
But let me just tell you – I died when she "stored" her earring. I myself have needed that pocket before – but never in front of 11000 people watching!!!
April P.
Well, Beth, I wasn't going to tease you until you posted a picture of that test paper that looks like one of my former students writing lines. "I will not talk in class . . . I will not fight on the playground . . . I will not squirt milk up my nose."
Now, when that next delivery of sample pens arrives, you can practice writing your August memory verse five times with each pen.
Anne
P.S. My verification word is "verse." Tell me that isn't funny.
All this discussion over a pen….however, I am not a writer Mama Siesta is!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I sure have gotten some good ideas over some pens though. I love the idea of purple ones. Will have to look for one of those.
God Bless all of you Siesta's. I feel like we are all one BIG HUGE happy family!!!!!!!!!!!
Blessings,
Bible Bunny in NO MI
Can I just say that your try out of the pens is too funny…makes me think of having to write "I will will not talk in class" like 100 times!!! when I was in 5th grade:)
My favorite for the past few years has been the pilot G-2 07 in purple of course! Actually had to buy a new pack to finsih my Esther study because the last 2 I had ran out of ink and I am on week 9 so had to finish it in my precious purple pen!
Another pen that I am liking very much is the Pentel Energel both in 07 because it is purple…in 05 needle tip too. Great pen but the 07 does kind of bleed through the pages so I don't use it for my b.studies or in my bible. Great for my journal!
I LOVE this topic…love me some good pens…gonna try out some of these!
Hi Sweet Seista Mama
Good to hear from you but sorry about your pen ordeal. I myself like pilot g-2 pens they have pink, blue, purple, black, mine are the pilot g-2 .07 they also come in .05 I like the .07.
I hope you make the pilot g-2 your choice for a pen. Also sounds like other seista's like the g-2 pilot as well. I needed your blog today I have been having a hard time lately with a car accident aug 2nd 2009 that total out my car and now dr. appts to go to I missed 6 days of work this girl ran a red light and barreled into one car and then hit me and my frame broke in the car and the crash bars broke and engine shifted over by 2ft anyway can all of you seista's be in prayer for a car for me and for my job that is very physical and unable to do alot of my work right now. Do not have money for a down payment on another vechile also the insurance on her part paid blue book price on my car so i still owe the bank. Thanks to all you seista's and to our sweet seista mama for her blog and all her hard work. Love to you and hugs sweet Beth.

Uni-ball Eye Micro or really any micro is my favorite pen so I get your woe.

You are a girl after my heart but here in my great state of Nebraska I find that purple pen in my local walmart, target and being a teacher I found it today at Staples…I of course stocked up just in case they decide to not have them anymore then I would be in mess like Mama Beth.
love
Tammy S.
I don't have a favorite pen as long as it has purple ink. And I have problems finding those!
I stumbled across my new favorite pen a few months ago, i took, oops i mean borrowed it from my husband :). He always seems to find the best pens. It works great, my hand starts to cramp after i write so i like how easily the ink flows from it. It is a Pentel energel Liquid gel ink. or something like that ๐
I'm a teacher and Sharpie Pens are the way to go!
There is no teasing about this one.
I feel your pain completely. I only have one type of pen I write
with and beware of anyone that uses
it. I have back-ups of the same pen but around my house they could
disappear!
My husband laughs but he is the same way with his mechanical pencil for work!
Ginger from MI
wanda Beth – I could not love you more than I do after this One Pen Woe post! I dearly lurve me some office supplies and I get so excited about pens and pads and BLUE ink is my favorite! However, I will occasionally get a good purple ink pen for some whimsical writing.
Was Uni Ball Vision Elite on the list? You must give it a chance. It is a great pen, and the ink is the prettiest blue ink, almost a navy blue – rich indeed.
Well, gotta run. Had a spinach salad today – need to check my teeth…
We're the same age you know!!!
LOVE YOU!
GJ
After all this I hope you let us know what pen you ended up with! MELISSA never told us what perfume she got after frivolous friday! By the way-can we make every friday frivolous? It makes my weekend off to a happy start! : ) love you all!
Pentel RSVP, fine point black. My hand feels naked without them.
I love a very fine tip so my favorite is the Helix pens found in the architechs corner of Office Max. They come in a pack with varing size tips from 0.1 to 0.8.
Beth: Oh I found a link for the pen…you're going to love it, I promise!
It's even called "Bold Blue!" Now if that's not you – I don't know what is!
http://www.amazon.com/Ball-Vision-Elite-Bold-Rollerball/dp/B002K9M1GK/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1250039901&sr=8-6
Much love,
GJ
Beth…you just crack me up! I just know God put us all on the siesta blog together for a reason…and compatibility seems to be #1!!!
Ok…seriously…try Cross pens. I have the Townsend…with blue or black broad ink refills. You don't throw the pen away…only change the refills and they feel wonderful in your hand!
I am dying to try some of the pens from Levenger.com like some other siestas have mentioned…it is a wonderful site and makes me want to write when I go online there!
Good luck!
Donna (the mom of twin boys!)
P.S. My little ones start First Grade on Thursday! Where on earth does the time go???
I just read my husband today's blog post and I must say that he is now disturbed…you see, apparently he, too, loves the Fine point Foray. (I'm too cheap – I stick with Bic Crystals… :o) Now I think we will be watching your updates to find him a new fave. Thank you for keeping this family in the know! Love you, Mama Beth! ๐
You aren't kidding, because I sure will!! Yes ma'am…. I wouldn't know what to do with myself for a pen that was $1.99! Ha!
Your test page is cracking me up!I am different. I like ball-point. I reckon' because I write big.
I LOVE YOU!
Beth,
You can still order your favorite pen online at officedepot.com. The item number that I found was 775744.
I understand why you like that pen so much, I use the black version for all of my college papers.
Steph
Hi Beth! I am SUPER excited about this up coming weekend! A girlfriend and I are coming to Fargo, from Yankton,SD! I have been looking forward to it all year! I'm praying that the Lord uses you in an awesome way to speak to everyone. It's been a devistating two years for me. My heart is in desperate need of so much healing from some life altering mistakes on my part. Ones that have affected so many people I love. My ultamate prayer in particular is that a girlfriend of mine, whom I love very much, can forgive me for this mistake and find some healing for us both. I heard that she might be there this weekend and I pray that she is.
Father, My heart is wide open to hear You in preperation for this up coming conference. You know I, as well as others need healing.Open hearts and teach us all thru Beth, guide her, keep her heart tender to what you have for us all,Thank you for her willingness to be Your obedient servant. I Thank you and Praise you Father that we have the freedom to attend a conference like Beth's, Give her safe travel to Fargo and back home. In Your precious Son's name,Amen
See you soon Beth!!!
U R HILLLLarious!
Beth, please try any of the Fisher Space Pens…made right here in the good ole U.S.A. in Boulder City, Nevada. It is the pen that went into outer space. They come in all styles and prices…just whatever you would like to pay. They are great and last for a very long time. I understand about having a 'favorite' pen. Next to the Fisher, it is Pentel R.S.V.P. fine point. Good luck in finding another favorite. BTW…I will be attending your simulcast August 28-29 in San Angelo…my first time and looking forward to it. Love you…..
How about the Papermate Silk-writer Retractable?? My friend swears by it. We all had to try it out when we were together the last time. I'm sure others in the coffee shop were wondering what in the world we were doing passing this pen around and oohing and ahhing over it. Serious business going on here, for sure!!:)
The Zebra F-301 is the ultimate in fine point pens….. Your search will be over and Michelle will be able to focus ample time on watching your teeth because she will never have to see if there is ink on your nose. It just won't happen.
If you can't find them, I'd be glad to send some to you.
[email protected]
Thanks for serving the Lord!
Linda
Sister Friend…speaking as a professional "office supply junkie," and life-time pen connoisseur…. it is the uni 0.7 Jetstream. No kidding around … never a smudge, smear, clump, or glob; never a leak or a bleak day with your fab Uni 0.7 Jetstream. Don't even think of messing around with the ones that pretend to be cool and click open & closed…you must have the one that you have to actually the pull the top off of. They are blue…usually only found at office supply stores, occasionlly at Target. Ink color choices are blue, black, red.
As a nurse, we take our pens very seriously (it's a funky nurse thing, don't know what else to say about that) and as such, I nearly took one of my favorite surgeons down in a full body slam one day when he tried to make off with my uni pen! Talk about nutso!! (me, not him!)
Check it out…I believe you will be in love! The pen writes, your hand just hangs on for the fun of it. ๐
Hugs!
Sharoni
that's Uni 0.7 Jetstream (product #40180) manufacturer Sanford Brands
My favorite pen is:
Zebra F-402
I've had dozens of Zebra fine point pens and love them. (I do not like the Zebra gels, though).
Also, my mother in law gave me a pen to use at the Albuquerque/Rio Rancho LPL event and I love it! It's a Bic Reaction Gel…it's a smooth gel and it didn't quit while I was writing fervently at the event. Ha!

Oh, it is a joke in our family about my fettish with pens and bags. It's so bad! I have a few that are my favorite. Two of them are from the doctors office. They get all those nice, new, ball-point pens and I think it's only fair that they share them. The nurse in the office knows that when I come in she has to give up at least 2 or 3.LOL My fear is that one day I'll be promoting something that I have no idea what it is.
Another of my favorites came with a pack of paper that I picked up at the Mighty Dollar. Great Store! The pad says Fear Not all over it and the pen, it interchanges a scripture verse when you click the head. Not only does it write good, it gives me reminders not to fear. How awesome is that!
We know there are people out there who won't understand, but girl! I am praying that you find just the right pen. In Jesus name! My advice is you buy a bunch and keep them on hand.
Pilot G-2…my complete recommendation…I saw you tried it…don't let it go yet….keeeeeeep on sister!
My favorite pen is Uniball Vision Elite. You can buy an assorted pack of them at Costco (black, blue and red). They are guaranteed not to leak on planes. I take a lot of notes at bible studies and I can write smoothly and quickly across the page with them. They also write bold enough that I can see the writing easily.
Beth, do you remember that illustration from years ago – can't remember what study it was part of – but you and Amanda were stuck b/c of weather and you ended up at Travis' home (and his wife – Angela?) and she made you homemade pancakes or waffles or something yum and while you were eating, Travis' oldest boy watched you enjoy your meal and then stated: "Beth Moore, you make me hungry."
And your whole point was (I think – how silly that I can't remember the main point of the illustration) – that there are just certain people that make us "hungry" for the Lord or the Word, or simply more of Jesus, really.
Anyway – ALLLLLLL that to just say,
"Beth Moore, you crack me up."
Warm in Alaska.
