Hi, Girlfriends! I hope your weekend is full of joy and laughter and recreation and that God’s shown up in the middle of it one way or another. I just got home a little while ago from Pittsburgh and I am overwhelmed with gratitude to God. Yet again, He granted us the most fabulous group. I’ve had the joy and challenge of 25 years of speaking and 11 years of Living Proof Live and I’m going to tell you that God has given us some of our neatest groups this very year. I have loved every single one of them, starting with El Paso in January.
These 6000+ Pittsburgh sisters were like bird dogs on point from the very beginning. Totally focused and into it. They came for Jesus and I pray with all my heart that they got Him. I loved them like nobody’s business. A ton of really young women. And, of course, plenty of sisters in their 70’s and up. They always bless me so much, especially as I see them worship. There is something so dear about it that it makes me want to bawl. We had women from – get this – 28 States (mostly PA, Ohio, NY) and representing something like 378 different churches. Amazing.
We had something happen this time that is a total first at Living Proof Live: A PUBLIC PROPOSAL! Our drummer, Kevin Jones, who we’re totally nuts about, got down on his knee right on the stage this morning and asked his gorgeous girlfriend, Ashley, to marry him. Opened the ring box and everything. Travis had set them up so, needless to say, he’s beside himself. Taking all the credit. I’m so ticked that it wasn’t me. You’ve got to understand that we have all (including Keith) been wondering when the woman of Kevin’s dreams was going to show up. He’s like the catch of the century and it was amazing that he’d made it to 30 as an eligible single, handsome, GODLY guy. This was a really big deal to all of us because every wonderful young woman we’d meet would raise our eyebrows on Kevin’s behalf. Nope. Not the one.
Then Travis invited Ashley to a worship event where he and Kevin were serving and that was it. Get the tux. So, Trav called me this week to let me in on the secret that drummer man had gotten a ring, and that’s when the conspiracy took shape. Because Kevin has been such a big part of our team for so long, it was only fitting for him to have that platform for his proposal if he wanted it. There was a big catch though. It also had to work out for Ashley to come all the way from Tennessee to the event. (You wouldn’t believe how many things had to go exactly right for this to pull off. God loves them. That’s all I’m saying.)
Lo and behold, because it was Kevin’s birthday, Ashley just happened to come to “surprise” him. To really get this scenario, you need to keep in mind that she thought she was the tricky one and that he’d never expect her to show up. Kevin took the chance that she might hop on the plane and had leaked the word to both their parents that, with their blessing, he’d pop the question this weekend at the event if she did. Right on cue, both sets of moms and dads snuck into Pittsburgh last night and to the front row of the arena this morning to watch the whole thing first hand.
Here’s how Travis set it up: we’d sung two praise songs this morning in our first session when he called three of us having birthdays to the platform. One of them was Kevin himself. The others were Tammy Jenson (one of our terrific singers) and yours truly. He led the whole arena in a rousing chorus of Happy Birthday to us and then staged the brilliant part: Travis had asked Ashley to come up on the platform and present each of us birthday folks with bouquets of flowers. After she’d put them in our hands, Trav gave all of us that “clear the platform!” look and we scurried off. When Ashley naturally tried to follow us, Kevin grabbed her hand and told her to stay and the rest is history. I wish you could have seen her face. Honestly, Siestas, it was so romantic you wouldn’t have believed it. It made me want to march straight home and marry Keith Moore again.
It was so much fun. One of my favorite LPL memories of all. God loved it. I could feel it in my spirit. He got as big a kick out of it as we did.

Would you believe that the big proposal coincided with another LPL “first”? We had a young bride (22 years old) named Emily Venesky in attendance from the Pittsburgh area with her entire bridal party and get this: her wedding was TONIGHT. She would have walked down the aisle just 6 hours after she left the conference. When was the last time you heard of a bridal party opting for a Christian women’s event over getting their hair and nails done on the big day? I was floored. They were absolutely adorable. I pray that God blows their minds with favor over what they prioritized on this pivotal weekend.
Well, that’s all my news for now except for the fact that I got a brand new I-phone. And I am completely obsessed with it. I was a total power-texter on my Verizon Voyager. I knew it so well I didn’t even have to look at the darn thing when I jotted a text. My new I-phone has a totally different keypad, though, so I’m really having to adjust to texting on it but you just wait. I’ll be the reigning queen in five days flat. I love it! I love it! I love it! I love it! There’s still a lot I have to figure out like how to answer it and stuff, which, of course, Travis knew. That explains why he grabbed it and took a picture of himself that looks sorta like he’s picking his nose with both index fingers and put it on my wallpaper. So, for now, that’s what I see every time somebody calls me. I’m getting Michelle to deal with it first thing Monday morning. In the meantime, I’ll just laugh my head off. I love my team. It’s like trying to work with a group of Godly 8 year-olds.
And, to our Siesta that very sweetly asked me if I was using a hands-free device while driving and talking to Melissa on my cell, yes, as a matter of fact I am. Blue Tooth. I’m so cool that I’m going to have to sleep in my sweats tonight.
Obviously, my team is working with a veritable 8 year-old, too, that looks suspiciously like she’s about to turn…
Happy Birthday Sweet Beth! I am sure you are turning a young twenty something! You sure look like it! ๐
I have to say, you are the best story-teller ever! I felt like I was sitting right there in Pittsburg watching the whole engagement! Loved it!
Just wait…. You will fall more in love with your phone and will be able to text so fast. For example, I am checking my blog google reader, commenting on your blog and all from my glorious iphone! By the way, I am visiting my adorable grandparents in San Antonio and have such sweet memories of our Siesta Fiesta last year!!
Love you!
Happy Birthday, sweet Beth!! I know how young you are but wouldn't dare tell because I love secrets between friends!! I absolutely cried at this post because I am a hopeless romantic. Nothing is sweeter than young love. God does such marvelous things for those in love–look at my Godly son and daughter-in-love!! Seventeen years and satan tried to mess them up. God is awesome!!!
Beth…This past weekend in Pittsbugh was just amazing! Thank you so much for being so real, so God honoring and sensitive to the Holy Spirit and just so much fun! I loved your outfits and you just look adorable! Most of all I love your passion! I relate to you on many levels, I too am Sanguine, we are the same age(Happy Birthday btw) and we are both so full of passion. It can be a strength and a weakness…I know! ๐ But most importantly thanks for your love for the Word of God and for using the gift of teaching in such a relatable, practical way! You have touched my life in so many ways. I was at the conference this weekend with my 25 year old married daughter and my 28 year old daughter in law. Being there with them, watching them totally praising God and drinking in every word you said, was just the coolest! Thanks so much! Love & Blessings to you! Debbie
Dear Beth:
I was so truly blessed this weekend more than you know. God is so truly awesome. In the middle of your conference, you spoke to me and my new friend, Ginny (we both came there alone), (there is a whole other story going on with me). Our pictures were on the screen with you sitting on her lap–is there a way that will be on this blog or sent to me.
I am and still in awe over how God's way of showing up in my life is bigger and better than I would have imagined. And you say that all the time. Please try to do this for your sista. I bet that you are exhausted because I am and I didn't do hardly any talking.
I love you so much. I thank God for using you to keep me from jumping in that pit that I was so close to going in before this weekend. Be blessed and get rest.
Love Julie Belden
How neat. Makes me long even more for Deeper Still and even more for the January Celebration! God is so good! Thanks for sharing the recap with all of us that couldn't be there. You have changed and blessed sooooo many women's lives through your teaching as reported after each event. I know how blessed I have been just from doing 3 Bible studies you have written. Thanks so much for sharing God with us and making it so much fun. You are loved.
Jan
Beth, what a joy and priviledge it was to worship with you over the weekend. You hinted at this as well but I want to say that my FAVORITE part of the weekend was knowing that we were praising and worshiping Jesus together… at the same time.
Your word was EXACTLY what I needed to hear as well. I am 34 and had just told my husband the Friday prior that I wanted a divorce. With three amazing children and 11 years of marriage it was a hard decision to make… and after the conference I also realized IT WAS THE WRONG ONE TO MAKE!
It's as you said to the lady who said she is going back to school… Monday morning is the thing!!! So was Saturday afternoon for me. The test. The moment of truth!
I am accountable for the knowledge I gained this weekend. This I know… It may be hard… BUT I WILL MAKE IT TO MALTA!!!
I love you dear heart.
Happy Birthday, sweet Beth!! Birthdays should be "all about fun" and sounds like you had a ton…thanks for sharing your heart and head with us…love to hear about the ministry times you have at LP Live events. blessings to you this year as you continue to grow in grace, wisdom, and share it with us. love, Pam in San Diego
Beth,
My mom and I attended the conference this weekend and I cannot fully express what it meant to me. As a Pittsburgh native, I can say that we definitely do refer to ziplocs as baggies! My mom and I laughed so hard because I can relate. I have a three year old daughter and we always say "can't keep her in a bubble to protect her." I know God holds us in his hands and that is always my prayer…that we feel His arms around us.
Thank you for being such a willing servant in bringing the Word this weekend! We were truly blessed. Please come back to Pittsburgh so that we can bring more friends and family next time!
In Christ,

Words cannot express what a blessing this weekend was. I clearly received a Word and am so thankful for it. My girlfriends and I came as a MOPS group. There were 10 of us. It was such a great time, a retreat for us in ways as we lead the MOPS group. We needed this message like nobody's business.
So many memories from this weekend that I will never forget. Thank you for coming here and sharing it with us. Your entire team is an amazing blessing and humbling gift from God.
P.S. – don't know if you realized it but you showed a great deal of respect by wearing black and gold on Saturday. Those are Penguin colors and it was so fitting since we won the Stanley Cup the night before. ๐

Praying that God will protect you and yours from EVERYTHING BUT God's Glory.
Dear Beth:
This weekend was just a whole "God" thing.
I was truly blessed and got such renewed hope. I am in the middle a storm and I feel so alone. Only God knows my heart, and sees my inner tears. I was so ready to jump back into my pit of depression but God's word through you have given me a renewed hope.
Will there be a video of Pittsburgh on the blog. I hope that it is. You spoke to me and my "new" friend. We both came there alone and met each other and line. There is a story behind me being there alone and I will write you personally about it. What would be better is if I could get a picture of us together (you, Ginny and I). It would really mean the world to me. I am believing that God is able to do this for me.
It was also fun to be a part and celebrate the wedding proposal. Congratulations to the couple. You will have to keep us posted on the wedding plans.
I hope that you have a fantastic birthday week.

Oh, Happy Birthday on Tuesday my baggie addict sister.
I love you and adore you!
Happy Happy Birthday! You don't look a day over 29! ๐
Was praying so hard over all of you this weekend and following Sophie on the blog.
The girls and I sat down and watched the proposal video over and over again and just giggled like little girls!
Congrats to the newly engaged couple!
I'm sure His Word was powerfully packed for such special happenings going on in PA this weekend…
Isn't He just GRAND?
But then… your team is pretty stinkin' awesome!
Get some rest Siesta Mama, I do love you so.

Beth, I had the privilege of being at your conference at Pittsburgh, with my best friend and our moms. This was the first time that I've attended one and I cannot begin to tell you how you spoke to my heart. I have been going through some really tough situations and I just really felt the Holy Spirit moving in that Events Center, I felt as if I was meant to be there and there was definitely no irony with your message!! Thank You so much for coming and I can tell you that I will be looking forward to the next time I can attend another conference of yours. You have an unbelieveable gift from God!!
Happy Birthday and God Bless You!!
Aimee
Hey Beth…I forgot to wish you a Happy Birthday last night when I was on here!
Can't let that one slide ๐
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU SWEET MAMA SIESTA!!!!
You are loved!
Happy Birthday to all and congrats to the newly engaged couple. You truly lift my spirit in Christ. Love you Beth.
Hi Beth,
I was at the Pittsburgh event and just can't thank you enough for coming. It was truly God who had plucked me out of my gloomy mood and put me there this weekend. I had known you were coming since last fall and just didn't ever prioritize ordering myself a ticket. My husband and I have 5 children 8 and under and often our finances are strapped. Lately, I have been struggling with a great deal of depression (this is normal for me…the ebb and flow of my life). So when my husband came home early from work on Friday, I was all set to go straight to bed and stay there for the weekend. At the same precise moment he walked in the door, my dear friend texted me and told me she had two free tickets for me. I was able to pull myself together and get downtown and dragged my mom along.
My friend and I have known each other since 6th grade. We are 31 now and although we aren't connected at the hip and live fairly different lives (she's still single, oh Lord how I pray a man wouldn't miss out on this girl. She's beautiful inside and out), God always brings us together at various times in our lives. This weekend was one of them. I praise God for her. (And her Gran was the "Glitter Grandma" you just loved…lol.)
God used this event to really pull me out of a pit. He had been preparing my heart all week for precisely this. So THANK YOU!
And the proposal…OH MY GOODNESS!!! I think every woman there just melted like chocolate!!! Wishing Ashley and Kevin many happy years together.
Beth I was there. It was amazing. I always love it when visitors are surprised at how beautiful Pittsburgh is. People are in awe of our green and our hills. Of course you had the pleasure of being there when we won the Stanley Cup. Did you know that we won the Super Bowl in February? You spoke to me directly when you said "Do the body of Christ a favor, stick it out." Thank you for your amazing insights. We discussed how you came up with those seven points in scripture and yes I do that you have help. I am a speech therapist and I am amazed at your fluent speech. You have been truly gifted.
Happy Birthday Mama Beth I feel so blessed to have you in my life, even if it is through cyber space!:)
Much love,
Suzi
P.S.-What a romantic proposal!!!
Happy B'day, Beth!
And now for unsolicited advice. On Friday (or a few days after) you need to go exchange that iphone for the 3rd generation model that's being released June 19. It's an iphone 3GS. It has longer battery life. It has a better camera. It has a video camera. It accesses the internet 2 times faster than the 3G you just got. AND it has voice control so you can just say "Call Keith" or "dial 817-xxx-xxxx" and it will do it without you having to dial it. You only need to get the 16GB model since you can add and subtract data (pics, movies, songs, etc) back and forth from your computer. You don't need everything on your iphone at all times so 16GB is plenty big. One of my friends just bought the 3G last week after an ATT employee told him the 6/17 software download would make the 3G exactly the same as the 3GS which isn't true at all. Some things about the 3G will be updated by the software update, but not the things I just mentioned to you, and they're important improvements I think. Go exchange it!!! And buy an extended warranty! I have an original iphone I've had replaced 4 times because of overheating battery issues in the nearly 2 years I've owned it. But on Friday, I'll have the new 3GS. With another extended warranty. End of unsolicited advice!!!
very sweet, and glad that it went well..
SO i am thinking you are loving the East coast too!, we certainly love you here!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! Dearest Siesta Mama!!!
So glad you share such wonderful moments with all of us.
I am so honored to study with you, be inspired by you, smile and cry with you, be encouraged by you, and challenged by you.
God has given me such a gift with this blog and the words and stories shared here by you and your girls. I pray God is richly blessing James and Betty of Life Today for sharing you with all of us on such a broad scale. How much I value my Wednesday afternoons and our time together.
You are such a gift from God, what a blessing! Someday I will make it to a LPL event, until then I will enjoy your first hand accounts of them-how special they are.
Katie
Happy Birthday!!! Appreciate you so much!! XXOO

I was there and I wanted to say thanks for coming to our neck of the woods. It was a blast, and we loved sharing in such a precious moment in the lives of Kevin and Ashley. May God bless them and keep them. May his face shine upon them and be gracious to them.
Happy Birthday Beth!
Oh man, I can't believe I missed all the fun! I was supposed to be there, had my ticket and everything, and I had been looking forward to it for months! Then my sister had a miscarriage and her D&C was Friday, and I needed to stay home. I prayed for everyone who did get to go that it would be a wonderful weekend, and it sounds like it was. ๐
I had some good family time with my Mom and sister and we got her laughing again. I'll try and track you down in some other city! ๐
love it all! laughed out loud about the 8 year old comment, but then again, we are supposed to be like little children! Happy Birthday!

Oh, let's not talk about age! I'm 40, and unfortunately, I'm seeing my first signs of brown spots, age spots, sun spots … whatever anyone wants to call them … not pretty spots. I'd love to hide these spots. Look out, Mom, here I come!
Happy Birthday, Beth! Surely you are spotless!!! =)
I'm so thankful Jesus exchanged his spotlessness for my spots!

The Happiest of Birthdays to you, Beth!
PS: BooMama had the proposal on her blog yesterday and it was precious.
Hi Beth!
Each time I read one of your LPL recaps or watch one of Rich's video clips I get even more excited about attending the Deeper Still event in Greensboro at the end of July. To sit under the teaching of three such gifted women as yourself, Kay, and Priscilla is a privilege and a blessing. I can't wait!!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! I LOVE YOU!!

Six ladies from our church attended this conference. It was such a blessing. Thank you for following the Lord and bringing us His Word. We left a T-Shirt for you ("I have issues"). Did you receive it?
Thanks so much –

THANK YOU..THANK YOU…THANK YOU
I was in Pittsburgh with a group of ladies from our church in Moon Twp. Beth, this is my fourth LPL + 1 simulcast, and by far, this was the BEST (can God outdo Himself?). We had 1 young mother in our group who had tickets to go with her own Mom who passed away to cancer last fall. Her daughter still came. And another who was to be a greeter, but just lost her 24 yr old daughter to cancer last Friday, & she still came. Oh, how timely was your Perfect Storm message! I can tell you they were both inspired & comforted. But, Beth, how did I know it would be so timely for me, too? I never realized I was going through the Perfect Storm, because it has been way too long, until I learned they are loooong storms.
A few points struck home, point 2, the question of fault in a storm. Oh, how I was trying to blame someone, & Beth, mostly myself. And that ties into the unforgiveness part, towards me. Thinking I was Ok to forgive everyone else, but not myself. How wrong is that?
Also, part 3 was definitely me, letting the storm open up all those old habits (addictions) as a good excuse. They are so draining & smothering me. After this weekend, I am cutting the ropes, holding onto to God & His mighty Word, & being confident that He brought me through this storm with His Purpose in mind rather than wasting endless nights & tears on WHY..I want to use it for HIM!!!
Beth, I was honored & oh, so humbled to be an encourager. When I had the privelege to pray for sister after sister, young & old, all with so many raging storms in their lives, I knew the Holy Spirit was at work & had us all there for such a time as this.
Beth, THANK YOU for being HIS SERVANT, your Bible Studies are so encouraging, but thank you so much for coming to Pittsburgh (recently voted best city to live, will send it to Amy). We are touched & forever grateful to you and your praise team & wonderful staff. God's love flows!!!!
The proposal was the icing on the cake. I have a single daughter, oh how I'd love a kevin in her life.
Happy Birthday to you, sweet sister!!!
Lots of love & Blessings,
Elaine Poliziani
PS I was the lady who said I love you when you passed me going on the stage for the last session.
Happy Birthday dear Beth! I love you so! And I am believing God to bless your socks off this year!
Thanks for sharing your life with us. What fun in Pittsburg! He is worth it – isn't He?
What a delightful post! Congrats to Kevin, the drummer and Ashley, his intended!
And Happy HAPPY Birthday Beth! I will see you in Albuquerque!!
Jan
p.s. I KNOW how old you are cause I'm the very same age!!!
A SWEET HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU BETH! You deserve it. Oh how I wish I could have been there this weekend- I'm from Tenneesee also. You do sound too cool, getting a new Iphone and witnessing that sweet proposal. Only God could have allowed all this to happen on cue. Glad to serve Him along side you, Carla Knoxville, Tenn.
Hi Beth! Happy Birthday! I am writing to thank you for mentioning your experience in Atlanta in Pittsburgh this past weekend. I am one of those 8 women who was able to meet and pray with you and I was so blessed by that experience. I have lost two children now, and just gave birth to a little girl on June 1. She is now being tested for a serious and debilitating skin disorder and my heart is so broken and weary. I could really use some extra prayers. I just don't know how much more I can take. I need my baby girl to be ok.
"I'm so cool that I'm gonna have to sleep in my sweats tonight." Bahahahahaha!!!! You are too funny, woman!
Love all the romantic stuff that happened at the LPL event…very awesome. ๐ AND…HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!

Beth:
Words seem so inadequate…thank you for blessing my life in Pittsburgh. I have looked forward to attending with my mom for the past 6 months and we both are changed. By the way, I will send a special prayer up for you each June 16 when I, too, will be eating birthday cake!!! How cool!!
Thanks for being so humble and real and leading us to understand Paul better.

Oh, thank you for that, Beth. I just love a good proposal story! My son proposed to his lovely bride when we were all on vacation together. He took her for a walk on the beach and proposed. He had the ring all ready and everything. AND, he had not told us about it so they came back to the condo and just completely blew us away. We took tons of pictures and laughed and cried and it was wonderful.
Happy Birthday, Beth!!
Thanks again for both the stories.
Esabelle
I was there in Pittsburgh too. I've been to several of your events and God used you to speak to me more clearly this weekend than He ever has before. He always uses you to speak to me, but this time was REALLY clear. Thank you so much for being real. You can not imagine how much you were speaking straight to me. You and I are married to men who must be CLOSELY related and somehow got separated because I totally relate. I am also married to a deer hunting man. I love him like mad, but he drives me crazy! I thought Kevin's proposal was so romantic, but I thought "I wonder what that guy's annoying hobby is, and is she going to be able to put up with it?"
On Friday night, after we got back to our hotel, I found myself standing in the lobby asking all the ladies with yellow wrist bands on how they liked the conference so far. I do the same thing in the narthex at church when we do one of your Bible studies. ( Am I obnoxious or what?) You'll be happy to know that everybody agreed that it was great.
Happy Birthday, Beth! ๐ All God's best to you in the coming year!
Glad Pittsburg was a great weekend! That proposal was really cool! Saw the video of it on TC's site… Very sweet! Thought the bridal party story was neat, too.
Isn't it just like our Heavenly Daddy to give such cool surprises??? ๐
How much coffee you had, Bethie?

Speechless!! Speechless!!! Speechless!!!!
… congratulations, Kevin and Ashley!!!!!
Beth,
You thrill us all!! Loved your recap of your weekend, how God showed up, the romantic proposal and all the details!! I so love being a girl! Boy, it's tough being a girl (a woman) sometimes ..as the saying goes). ๐ ๐ but love it!! As for the I-phone, you will love it. I got mine last year the day they came out with the 3G. At first it was very tough to text but now I can practically do it without looking. And I'm still learning things it does a year later! I went from the lowest of low tech phones to the highest of high tech. It's kind of scary!! But wow I love it. I'm on the blog everyday with this silly thing!:) I'm posting from my phone right now. I'm sure you've got a bunch of Siesta's here you can call on if you need tech assistance!:) The GPS system AMAZING!!!!!
Love,

So good to hear about the LPM event. What a lovely proposal!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BETH!!! You are forever young!!!
Thank you for your wonderful description of your weekend and all the fun and exciting things that took place. Sounds like God had a most wonderful time doing great and exciting things for those in attendance!
Many comments from siestas who were there really show how God delights in doing wonders and miracles for people. Especially loved Jacque's (June 14 @12:13am)story of how the Lord was in ALL the details for her attending.
Thank you to you and your amazing crew (of eight year olds!)for sharing the JOY of the Lord with those blessed to attend and for those of us unable to.
Off to watch the proposal video! Congrats to the new couple!!!
Going to one of your conferences on my wedding day sounds like something I would do too. That's how much I love to go! Come to Charleston, SC! Emily Levensky's got the right idea. ๐
