Our DVD Giveaways and SSF Update!

Hey, Siestas! If you are on our Scripture memory team and haven’t signed in with your 4th verse, please see yesterday’s post and follow through! I don’t want to crowd that very important post but I also can’t wait any longer to tell you that AJ and I have done our random drawing for our 5 DVD leader kits from the churches and ministries you nominated and here are the winners:

Nominated by “Lisa” – Reach Out Christian Chapel in Eatonton, Georgia!

Nominated by “Laurie O’Connor” – Hopewell Baptist Church in Milton, Georgia!

Nominated by “Kat Murray” – Sligo Baptist Church in Silver Spring, Maryland!

Nominated by another “Lisa” – Harmony Bible Church in South Thomaston, Maine!

Nominated by “Beth” (not me) – Pinnacle Church in Canton, North Carolina!

We are thrilled to send each of these churches a leader kit (all the DVD’s) of Esther: It’s Tough Being a Woman. We’ve chosen the most recent series in hopes that they don’t already have a set.

Several of you were so gracious to offer to send back DVD sets that your church has already completed to LPM so we can recycle them but rather than double the shipping, Linda, our accountant, suggests that if you have material to share, go back and look at all the nominated churches and ministries in the comment list to the “Siesta Scholarship Fund” post and find one in your area or State. Get in touch with them and see if they’d like to receive it and, if so, send it on its way with the joy and blessing of the Lord! We are beside ourselves to see your enthusiasm to share and to donate materials. May God invest back in your life and church 100-fold!

Now, for an update on our SIESTA SCHOLARSHIP FUND: Through on-line donations only (we haven’t had time to receive the ones through the mail yet), we already have a total of $4000.00 in our fund to launch our giveaways. We are ecstatic! After talking with my staff, we are going to begin our SSF donations by giving the following:

TEN SCHOLARSHIPS to the upcoming “Living Proof Live For Ministers’ Wives” in Nashville, Tennessee at Two Rivers Baptist Church on March 13-14, 2009.

We can’t think of a more important ministry that we get to take part in. Who on earth could use more encouragement, love and high esteem than our ministers’ wives? We learned from our LifeWay event team that the financial crisis in our nation has caused so many churches not to be able to pay their ministers’ wives way as they did several years ago when we had well over three thousand in attendance. (The event itself is $60 then there is the expense of going and staying. It’s simply too much for many – even most! – to afford.) Because of our brand new Siesta Scholarship Fund, at least ten will be able to attend that could not otherwise afford it.

If you wish you could further participate in some way, if you learn that your minister’s wife would like to attend but can’t afford it, your Bible study group might consider taking up an offering to help. This might be especially helpful for those that can drive to Nashville and save the expense of a flight.

You guys are the best. Incredibly thoughtful. I will keep you updated on our giving but will, again, not let it take over for fear you’d feel pressured. We’ll keep the thing the thing. I am so honored to serve Christ with you, my dear sisters. I am humbled by your servant-hearts and by your giving spirits. I pray that God is so pleased with what He finds in this community.

Onward in His great Name!

The scholarships for minister’s wives to attend the LPL is simply wonderful! I’m not a pastor/minister’s wife so I won’t be going, but I know it will bless these ladies immensely. I just love it!

How do we nominate someone for the pastor’s wives conference scholarship? I’m confused. Sorry! ๐Ÿ™‚

    The Farmer's Wife says:

I didn’t catch the nomination thing…drats! How do you choose the pastor’s wives to go on scholarship to the LP Live? I know of a young pastor’s wife, from a very tiny rural church, that is working as a 911 dispatcher to make ends meet, and is never able to go to conferences or even Bible Studies, because of time and money constraints. She’s doing the LBY study with me, online.

I know so many women will be blessed by this Siesta Scholarship! It’s thrilling, just thrilling, to hear of all the good things happening.

God is amazing to give you the idea for the Siesta Scholarship Fund. By the response and the outpouring of funds it is evident He is in it.

    Beth,
This is not about the giveaways and if you feel it is not important to post than that is ok. When I think of the many churches out there that believe the basics of Jesus coming, dieing, raised from the dead and coming back and believes that the word of God is the word of God, than regardless of the denomination…R E G A R D L E S S! all THOSE churches need to pull together and be one BIG OLD BODY! Like Ike when it came, all churches were helping.

I know of one particular person that was laid off at a church…What!? for me that does not make sense at all! I think our denominational hats have gotten in our way when as the BODY all should come together to help those that need a job! And not just a hand out either. but…resources…NEEDING A JOB to pay bills. The hand helps the foot, the foot helps to walk, the teeth chew the food, the blood gives oxygen… all in concert. The BODY needs TO COME TOGETHER and maybe the BODY will snap to this coming TOGETHER IN A GREATER AND MORE PROFOUND WAY. Maybe God needs to breath on the dead bones that were lying there and THEN IT became a mighty army. Together as ONE BODY to be a light on a hill, humbling ourselves and somehow we all CRY OUT TO THE LIVING LORD FOR HIS POWER AND BY THAT, MAYBE A way to connect and flow and TO BE ONE BODY.

Thank you for being willing to minister to Minister’s Wives. My father is a Pastor and my mom will be attending in Nashville and visiting my family at the same time. I know she so badly needs a good spiritual refill. I will be working as a volunteer that weekend because I am a member of Two Rivers Baptist Church.

May God continue to bless this fund and it grow just like Jesus did with the loaves and fishes in the Sermon on the Mount.

The “Siesta Scholorship Fund” was such an awesome idea. Thanks be to God and thanks be to you for your obedience to launch such a needy and worthwhile cause. I feel blessed to be part of this Siesta journey! And some journey it will be!

I couldn’t let this post end without telling you what a huge blessing the study of Esther has been in my life. These churches will be totally blessed. I’m on week five and being so challenged by God. This week’s life lesson for me: becoming brave! The cost of fear is just not worth it anymore!

    Thanks again Beth.

    WOW!! This is simply amazing…

What comes to mind is the scripture in Luke 6:38

“Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”

I can just see how all of this will pour forth and enrich and touch lives by the overflow of God’s blessings and love as this reaches out and helps so many.

Far reaching effects…God word will not come back void.

May God’s Love continue to reach to the ends of the earth.

Lord Bless you All in abundance!

    Nancy from MA says:

I have one huge question. Nothing to do with this in a sense. I am retired. I facilitate Beth’s Bible studies at my home on Mondays and at the church I attend on Tuesday evenings, same study different locations. My husband and I also go to a Bible study in our community that is a cell group from our church led by a pastor of our church. Every other month from Sept. thru the end of April myself and another lady put on a women’s community breakfast featuring one of Beth’s teaching via DVD. I go to the gym 3 days a week in the morning for an hour, not counting travel time which is about an hour and a half. How in the world does Beth do all that she does. I know it is the LORD, however time is time and schedule is schedule. When I look at this blog, and try to memorize Scripture, do the homework and research in the study, study for the church Bible study, etc, etc. I am out straight. My children (7) are grown and gone, and so I do not have the balancing of family also, (though I wish I did). I just wish I knew what she does to find the time (she has the same 24hours that God gives me)and accomplishes what she does. Please be blunt. Am I wasting time somewhere? I would love to get done the things that she can. Is it something she eats, the air she breaths, help me here.
We all here just love her and the team and family. I look so forward to reading your blog. I am trying the Scripture memorization but it is veerrry sloooow.
    Blessin’s to all.

In Iowa, our State Baptist Office receives a DVD set of Beth’s (and others) studies from Lifeway. Every Baptist church in the state has access to these studies, and our church has been able to participate in almost every Beth Moore study. For women wanting to give away their already used studies, contacting a state office might be a good solution. That way every church int he state would have access to them.

    Beth,

I am so glad to hear the update and even more thrilled to hear about where it’s going. I could not agree more that pastors wives’ do need so much love and encouragement. They certainly do not get it like they should and are often times put under unfair burdens. One of my best friends is a pastor’s wife and she is absolutely one of the most precious people I know. These women ask nothing for themselves, they stay strong in the Lord, all the while staying strong for their husband and church. They truly amaze me with their humility and service. May God continue to bless this ministry.

I would just like to add a plea of my heart, here…. I am amazed to see this scholarship thing unfolding! What a brilliant picture of the Kingdom of God. When you are considering people for scholarships for future events, please do keep wives of seminary students (MDiv, PhD, etc.) in mind. I cannot count the number of brochures and websites for events and conferences I gazed at longingly and knew I could never, ever go to during that very, very stretched and taxing (financially, emotionally, spiritually) time…. Same thing could be said for Bible School/College/Seminary teachers’ wives, which is the sticky position I’m in right now, because I technically don’t qualify as a “minister’s wife,” but if what my husband is doing isn’t a ministry, I don’t know what it is…. BTW, I’m overseas, so I’m not trying to say this to my own advantage (I’m totally resigned to the fact that I am unable to go to any conferences now!), but if the load of even a few seminary students’ and/or teachers’ wives could be lightened by my bringing them to someone’s attention, that would be a blessing enough for me.

How would you recommed doing the Esther study as an individual. I know it’s formatted for groups studies, but my girlfriend and I are wanting to do it on our own. We have the member books, but would rather not purchase the leader kits for the sessions. We are so excitied to delve into Esther, but both are pastors wives and moms of little ones and just don’t have it in us to lead the group ourselves. So, what do you recommend – just do the book alone?

Siesta Mama, I love you very much! God is doing a mighty thing through you; and by way of doing it through you, He is doing a mighty thing in the lives of all Siestas, participating or not. Isn’t that just beyond cool?

We have to be obedient to His calling though; you first by way of just doing what He has called you to do (and you are off to a fantastic start!). And then us by giving and praying. I understand that not all of us can give. As a matter of fact, my gift will be very small, but it will be what I can give and God will honor that in a big way! The widow’s mite comes to mind… I say all this to say, that for those who feel that they can’t give, maybe they are thinking that they have to give big, but they don’t. God will use the smaller gifts just the same as He does the bigger gifts. Prayer is not too shabby of a gift either! When someone earnestly intercedes and petitions the throne of the Lord for me, well it is one of the greatest gifts I can receive! Likewise, the scholarship fund (and LPM as you prayerfully make decisions) will need mighty prayer warriors!

We are in this together; we are the body….what a thrill to see God not only work through you, but to work through us through you. It’s simply amazing how God works. Oh, how I love Him so!

Again, I love you Siesta Mama! Love you, love you, love you! You are such a sweet treat in my life and I thank God right now for working through you to get to me and many others. You are a godly woman. Now don’t be thinking that you are unworthy of a little praise. God wants to bless His little Siesta Mama and show her that she is much loved!

    Prayers and blessings,

Oh, how God answers prayer! My church was one of the churches chosen to receive the Esther Bible Study. There are several ladies in our church of 40 that wanted to participate in this study, but we had no funds available to purchase the DVDs. Our church budget was cut by 1/3 this year, down to $20,000.00 (which includes our pastor’s salary), and several of our programs lost funding. This is such a miraculous blessing! I’ve called three ladies in the church already, and I am just bursting at the seams with excitement!!! Thank you, Jesus, for such a wonderful ministry as LPM, for such a wonderful mentor in Beth Moore, and for such a wonderful online family in my siestas. Ok. I’m crying now. Thank you!

i am still blown away by this whole idea…and that it has already taken off the way it has!
this reminds me of something i heard a pastor speak on one time-about how we’re supposed to live with an “open hand policy” so that whatever gifts or blessings are placed in our hands by God are also always available for the Lord to take and give to other people for His kingdom’s work. when our hands are closed, we are hoarding things that are meant to bless others as well!

I am at a big church now but most of my life I attended small churches who could not afford the studies.

I am just blown away at the greatness of our God!!

    Praying for all of you!

We must have gotten the advance word from God! Several of us got together and already provided a lodging and event gift to our former pastor’s wife so she can attend the Pastor’s Wives’ conference. (Their family moved across country several hours from Nashville.) It’s so wonderful you’re creating an opportunity in these tough financial times for even more lovely women of God to attend. Hallelujah!
