Recent Blog FAQ’s

A) How do I join the blog?

There is no way to officially “join” the blog. If you’re a reader, you are a part! If you’d like to join in on the conversation by commenting, see the next question.

B) How do I leave a comment?

Step 1) Look at the bottom of whatever post you’d like to comment on. It will say something like this:
Posted by Amanda/Beth/Melissa at 7:00 p.m. 77 comments

Sometimes it will not say that. In that case, you’ll see all the comments from that one post listed beneath it. Scroll to the bottom and look for it to say this:
Post a comment

Step 2) Now click on the word “comment(s)” and it will take you to the comments page.

Step 3) Look for the text box on the right side of the page under the words “Leave your comment.” Type out your comment. (If it’s really long or contains a question, then please go to our contact page and send us an email.)

Step 4) Choose an identity. If you have an account with “Google/Blogger,” then click on that option. (“Blogger” is the free blogging service we use. Blogger.com is part of the “Google” network.) If you have an account with another blog service like Live Journal, WordPress, TypePad, or AIM, click on the “Open ID” option. If you want to type your name and a web site that is not in one of those categories, choose “Name/URL.” Just want to type your name and no web site? Simply leave the URL part blank. If you want to be “Anonymous,” choose that option.

*To set up a profile or your own blog with Blogger, go to www.blogger.com and follow the directions on their home page.

Step 5) Click “Publish your comment.” Or you can click “Preview” if you’d like to see what your comment will look like when it’s published. If you don’t like it, then you can click “Edit.” If you’re ready, click “Publish.”

Step 6) Wait for your comment to be moderated by me or Beth. Comment moderation protects us all from unwanted spam and other tacky comments. We do reserve the right not to read every single comment (for instance, when we have 500 of them waiting to be moderated at one time). Please be aware that anything you do send us could possibly be published in that case, even if you say “Please do not publish this comment.” We may not see it. If you have something to share that you do not want the public to read under any circumstance, please go to our contact page and send us an email.

Step 7) If you have a Blogger/Google account and you later decide you want to delete your comment, you will see a little trash can icon next to what you wrote. Click on the trash can and it will let you delete it. If you don’t have a Blogger/Google account, you won’t have that option. Please know that we are not able to edit your comments – only approve or delete them.

C) Why are all the comments from one of your blog posts being emailed to me?

Oops! When you were leaving a comment with your Google/Blogger account, you must have checked the box that said “Email follow up comments to ______” or clicked on “Subscribe to comments.” Please do yourself a favor and don’t ever click this box unless you are prepared to possibly receive a ton of emails. If you need to unsubscribe (and who would blame you?) click here for instructions.

D) Is it too late to sign up for the 1st and 15 Siesta Scripture Memory Team?

No way! Just go to this post and follow the directions given to sign up. Then go to this post to submit your first memory verse. The sooner you do it, the better, but there’s no cutoff date.

*If you’re reading this after January 15, 2009, you’ll want to submit your verse in the most recent Scripture memory post. Look at the archives for whatever month it currently is and go to the post on either the 1st or the 15th of the month.

E) I forgot my username and password to my Google/Blogger account. Can you help me?

I’m sorry, but we don’t have access to that information. You’ll need to go through Blogger to recover your username and password. Next to the boxes where you enter that info, it says “Forgot?”. Click on it and follow the directions from there.

*You can find a ton of helpful info in Blogger’s Help Center.

*I’ve put a permanent link to this post on our left sidebar so it can be found easily in the future.

Thank you Sweetheart for being so detailed and thorough! I, like Leah, know how to do most of the blogging/commenting, etc., but I would search for the detailed words needed to explain it.

You are such a blessing to us and you are appreciated not just for this, but all the work you put into the blog, ESPECIALLY being pregnant and the mother of a toddler.

The ministry is blessed to have you and I know your Sweet Mama tells you that ALOT!

I spoke with that sweet Evangeline today – a question that I needed answered about a product and can I just say — that sister/Siesta is a blessing and joy!

Living Proof Ministries is blessed to carry forth HIS word. GOD honors the hearts of Beth, Evangeline, you, Melissa and all the others that show forth HIS love.

You girls are all are the “real thang”.

Thank you Sweetie. You are precious!

I don’t know if it is even possible, but I would love to know of other girls committed to scripture memorization in my area or near me. I have tried to go through the list 200 at a time or so, but its a bit overwhelming. Is there some kind of data base that would sort by location? I’m feeling a bit lonely is So Cal.

Thank you so much for this blog opportunity. I am a 72 year old woman, married for over 50 years, but have no female relatives. Just reading all your family does together makes me feel like a part of it. I have completed about 5 of Beth’s studies, and we are about to start Esther which I eagerly look forward to. It has been such a blessing in my life, and studying it with about 30 other women brings us so close to each other. Thanks to all of you.

I’m not sure which post to leave this comment. Anyway, the sermon for the week on John Piper’s web site (www.desiringgod.org) is on Scripture memory and how it helps God’s Word to abide in us. It’s an awesome message!

    Laura says:

Amanda, thanks for the info! It came at just the right time. I was telling my 13 yr old daughter about the scripture memorization and she immediately asked if she could do it too! Of course I said yes. We found the brightly colored spiral index cards and cute pens – polka dots for her and stripes for me. I posted my verse last week, but she just did hers this afternoon, at least I hope it went through. She called me for help so you never know. She wanted to posted it to the original blogs — so she signed up and then posted her verse – Jer. 33:3.
Needless to say I’m very excited that she and I are doing something like this together. I feel so blessed to have a daughter who’s heart is tender for the Lord – who wants to learn and grow in Him.
Thank you for this blog and for yours and Beth’s faithful obedience to the Lord.

This is in response to your tutorial on memorizing Scripture. I was inspired by the Believing God study to memorize more Scripture so I started a second blog called “Taking Scripture to Heart” (there is a link from my regular blog to that blog). It helps me break verses down to memorize. Thanks for inspiring Beth! Blessings! – Jan

I love how thorough you are. Reminds me of me. I grew up in a family of “thinkers” and if you don’t cover every detail in your explanation you are then bombarded with questions so that everyone involved understands with the up most clarity. Yes it can be quite exhausting and for others who are not use to it quit frustrating and annoying, but for those who benefit they are always so grateful…

Being an avid blogger…I basically skimmed your post, noting within my self your thoroughness, and never really intended on telling you….but then I took the time to really read through it (work is really slow today, yall …has been all week) and I learned a thing or two, not so much about blogging in general but about how yall work and such-specifically.

    So, Thank you…

Ladies in our church have begun Bible study “A Woman’s Heart” (revised). There are several books/authors listed in footnotes. Can you recommend one or two most comprehensive ones that I could begin with? Would like to have them all but budget and shelf space won’t allow! Thanks for the revision; the study is amazing! Thanks.

    Laura_Primus says:

Is there another place where all of us Siestas can meet and “talk” online with each other about whatever is on our heart? Or just simple questions we’d love to ask a group of Christian women?

For instance, I’d LOVE to be able to ask questions like, “Does your husband have a daily devotion? Does he use a little devotional book or what? Can you recommend one that I could gift my husband?” I’d love to a book to encourage my husband to spend time with God but it has to be SIMPLE, easy, and quick to get him started. I don’t even know who to ask.

And, I’d love to get music recommendations and bible study recommendations and . . . I’d call it Siestas Share because I’m not very creative when it comes to names!!!

I just don’t have a community of women I ask these questions of. Of course, Siestas are such a wonderful bunch. We are diverse, different in age, in marital status, in location but we are all ONE under HIM. What a fantastic resource . . . I hope?

Thank you for all of your inspiration. And, especially for the memory verse challenge. I’m limping along but it’s better than not even trying.

    Blessings!

I just want to share my thanks for always providing Bible Studies. For the past 5 years I have been taking them in to the Oregon State Women’s prison (Coffee Creek Correctional facility). The ladies (inmates) love doing the workbooks and God has provided funds to purchase them – It is A Miracle! Praise God for His goodness. We just started ESTHER and had to turn away 70 ladies as the room was to small -so we are now doing three identical services each week, with 2 Bible Studies going over the weekly homework with over 100 ladies. They Love you as you speak truth to them and you don’t even see them or know their stories. I pray a blessing over this ministry and pray that my team and I will be able to raise enough money for the tickets to see you in Portland this spring. Oh how I wish you could visit the Prison and we could shake your hand. Because of you many have been saved and baptised in this prison. I also wan to share a scripture. Phil 1:6 ” HE THAT HATH BEGUN A GOOD WORK IN ME WILL PERFORM IT UNTIL THE DAY OF JESUS CHRIST. I pray I cna continue this work until I see Him face to face.
