Ring the Bells

Hey everyone! It’s an extraordinarily beautiful, almost-fall day in Houston, Texas. Jackson and I got to enjoy a long walk on the Rice University campus with some friends earlier today. He just woke up from his nap asking for candy corns and his Bibby will be happy to know I obliged. Curtis is taking a quick nap before he goes to our church to teach Wednesday night Bible study on the life of Elijah. I am getting ready to run to the store and grab a mini pumpkin for Jackson for his MDO’s pumpkin patch tomorrow. We are still sniffling a little but we’re on the mend. I hope you all are doing well on this Wednesday afternoon.

There’s been some major buzz online about our dear friend Travis Cottrell’s newest project and I don’t want any of our peeps to miss out! Travis’ Christmas CD, Ring the Bells, was released today. Way to go, Trav! You can read a review of it here on the CCM Magazine web site. You can find the CD in stores, on Travis’ web site, and on iTunes.

Curtis starts humming Christmas songs in July and by October he’s singing them outright and playing them on the guitar. Last night it was “O Come All Ye Faithful.” My man will soon have some CD’s in our LPM online store, but I assure you they won’t be of him singing. We’ll leave that to Travis!

I’m with Curtis! I leave my Christmas selections on my iPod all year long. I just love the interesting looks from my kids and husband when “O Holy Night” comes blasting through the speakers during “dinner cooking” time in mid-July!! ๐Ÿ™‚

Can’t wait to download my friend’s CD from iTunes in a few minutes. Hearing TRAV sing “O HOLY NIGHT” is one of my most favorite things of the Christmas season!!! Can’t wait.

    Blessings, friend!

Listened to it online yesterday… it is amazing! Can’t wait to get it! Yeah Travis!

Glad you all are feeling better and in no more need of the Neti Pot! Stick to the tea! : )

Speaking of hot tea… watched first Stepping Up Video last week and I just adored the story of how you, your Mom and Melissa would drink comfort drinks while chatting and soaking your feet in the tub! I just had to do that with my girls… so about 9:00 the other night I made some hot tea and called my girls(9 and 15) in my bathroom… they were like what are you doing? I drew some bath water and put some peppermint oil in it and we sat and soaked our feet and chatted… it was so precious!

Love all my siestas! Emmy : )

    Hi Amanda,

So glad you all are on the mend. You never would have know in last nights LIT class he was feeling puny. The Spirit of the Lord was all over him. He is such a blessing to LPM. Will keep lifting you all up in prayer that nary a sniffle is left to be found.

I can’t wait to buy this! On another subject, however (since I have no idea how to communicate with Beth any other way) I saw the second DVD of Part 2 of Wising Up this morning and was SO BLESSED. Wising up at work–what a novel concept! Having a great attitude, energy, being persuasive in a sweet manner, standing before kings as women who learn our jobs thoroughly–reminds me of Sarah Palin, no?

As a violinist and music teacher, I have been in position to see those with bad attitudes fired on the spot. I have seen those who play well inspire abilities in me that I didn’t know I had. I have played before administrators and governors and heads of corporations and even Miss America (long ago, when I was in college), and thought of that verse when I was not inspired to be disciplined and practice as I should have. But, there is always more, and I was also convicted to push ahead and learn more in areas where I have been afraid. Thank you, Beth for this important teaching!

I am glad you are feeling better and I wonder what costume Jackson will wear this year? ๐Ÿ™‚

I would love to hear Curtis’ teaching on Elijah because that is where God has me in the Word right now. Is it being taped?

My friend bought me Travis Cottrell’s Christmas cd and I can’t wait to get it. I have been listening to Christmas music for awhile and I love listening to the Carpenters Christmas. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Have a great night. Pray for me because I haven’t felt well all week. Sinus issues and stomach issues. Yuk!

    Love,

I had the joy and blessing of being front row at the HP Pavillion in San Jose, Ca. this weekend to see our own Miesta Travis along with Max Lucado, Anthony Evans, Mandissa, Sandy Patti, and Nicole Johnson for the 3:16 Live Event. It was so awesome and my favorite part of the evening was listening to Travis sing! I had the opportunity to purchase the christmas CD at the event but only had a little bit of money so bought the “found” CD instead! I wish that I could have bought both!
I’ll definately get the christmas one soon though!

Your husband isn’t the only one with the early holiday music playing! We already have Christmas music playing here at our house! Yep – started that a couple of days ago I do believe. I’ve already been in the mood for some Christmas movies as well. In fact, wanted to watch a particular one the other day but couldn’t find it at the library. Stink! (Like your Mom might say here, if saying “stink” is bad I surely don’t know about it!) Last year, my family (my husband, myself, and our children) started a new tradition for Thanksgiving. It was our first time actually celebrating Thanksgiving by ourselves. We usually travel to my family get-together for Thanksgiving but couldn’t last year. We made a big Thanksgiving meal together. I have such fond memories of turkey baking in the oven all night and waking up to the wonderful smell that permeated the house. We did the same – cooked the turkey all night. Oh it was wonderful! For our meal, we brought out the china that was my grandmother’s. We used nice stem glasses for our drinks. During the few days leading up to Thanksgiving we watched various Christmas movies. Then on Thanksgiving Day we saved our favorites for a traditional Christmas movie marathon: “White Christmas” with Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye – “It’s a Wonderful Life” with James Stewart – and I believe we watched “Christmas in Connecticut” with Barbara Stanwyck and/or “Holiday Inn” with Bing Crosby and Fred Astaire. As you can tell, we love old movies. Anyway….I do absolutely LOVE this time of year. Fall is my all-time favorite season. I love the crispness in the air, the beautiful display of colors the leaves bring, the smell of bonfires, nice warm soups to warm you up, the smell of spiced candles burning peacefully in the house, snuggling up under a warm comfy quilt, and pulling out the sweatshirts and sweaters! Oh yeah – I love Autumn!!!!! Just a sidenote – as if this post weren’t already long enough. We made a major move this year and now live in the same town my parent’s live in! I love it! This year, we will get to celebrate Thanksgiving with my family and will probably still do our tradition that we started last year – just probably the day before.

Happy Autumn and looking forward to a Winter Wonderland ๐Ÿ™‚

We are planning to get the CD also. However, we are even more excited, Travis and others will be traveling to my church (Camp Hill, PA) in December to sing it live. A little side note: Our music ministry pastor told the choir about the concert and my husband and good friend are in the choir, so I go in to listen to the choir after bible study last wednesday, to wait for my husband. When they were finished, my good friend came charging down the platform and down the center aisle to the back of the church where I was sitting, and said, “You will never believe who is coming to our church in December” I said who? She screamed…TRAVIS! We both screamed. Needless to say, we are very excited to hear him. My friend and I went to Rhode Island to see Beth and worship with Travis’ team. We were blessed in every way. And Beth, I remember….God gives you “Everything You Need” to do it His way. That is so true! Thank you. God Bless.

My five year old grand daughter, Summer, made me laugh the other day. She knows Beth Moore from the videos she sees me watch and one time asked me if Beth liked kids. I said “Are you kidding? She loves kids!” So recently, on our way to meet an aunt she doesn’t know she asked me did this lady like kids. I said “Oh yes, she likes kids very much!” Then Summer queried: “As much as Beth Moore does?” I laughed and said “Well maybe not THAT much!” So your mom is now the gold standard in measuring adults who are kid-friendly!
