Hi siestas! My mom is getting ready for Bible study tonight, so I have the honor of announcing the winner of our Pop Quiz. I used an online random integer generator to pick the winner. I’d have a picture of the number on my computer screen for you like I’ve seen BooMama do, but my camera battery died! Oh well. Get to the point, right?
The winner of the ESV Study Bible is Lauri Wasmuth!
*Applause and cheers for Lauri*
Bethie was so proud of all your comments that she wanted to give out five more prizes. The winners will receive the devotional book John: 90 Days With the Beloved Disciple.
Our next five winners are:
1) Christine at “Christine’s Corner”
2) Trish Wagner
3) Sue in Las Vegas
4) Gene54
5) Twinkle
*Applause and cheers for these five siestas*
Thanks for playing ladies! Have a wonderful Tuesday!
Can I just confess? I was tempted to enter more than once during the quiz to try to increase my odds of winning. I’ll be that Bible would be a great Christmas gift from my beloved hubby.
Loved reading the entries. Felt like I was having a QT all over again with sisters I’ve never met.
Peace,
Kim in Apex, NC
Congrats Siestas!:) What at fun pop quiz!:) I missed it, I’ll have to go look at all the scripture references:):) It’s always a blessing to see what God is doing in other believer’s lives:)

Congratulations to the 6 Siestas who won!
The comments were a wonderful read. So inspiring.
I agree with Tammy. I wonder if a post could sometime be dedicated to a short paragragh on how we siestas do our quiet time?
~Blessings
I was also excited about the blog idea – posting verses from our devotions – and it had nothing to do with the prize. I was just thrilled to be caught doing something RIGHT for a change.
In answer to Tammy, I have just started getting up earlier to read Scripture in the morning, and it hasn’t been pretty for me either. I know Beth says that His mercies are new every morning, but I’m so sleepy I wonder if they’re bouncing off the top of my head! When Beth asked us for a verse the other day, I realized that I couldn’t remember anything I had read. I had to go back and look it up. Way to meditate on the Word!
I think the idea is train the body into the habit of getting up and doing the same routine every morning. As for you and me, Tammy, we’ll just pray that getting up and waking up will start happening at the same time.
THANK YOU! I am thrilled to get the ESV Study Bible. And congrats to all the other winning ladies.
Here’s is the real deal though…I turned on the computer this a.m. (just after my QT), and before coming to check out more posts from the Pop Quiz (such wonderful posts from awesome women), I’ve got 2 emails from “acquaintances” congratulating me on winning.
Ladies~these are women that I occasionally work with but did not know their hearts and now we are connected. What a wonderful gift. Jesus is good and he is all about relationships and connection. I am thrilled.
Joyfully,
Lauri
What a great idea for a post! I missed it but loved reading them! : )
“May the God of HOPE fill you with all JOY and PEACE as you TRUST in HIM, so that you may overflow with HOPE by the power of the Holy Spirit!” Romans 15:13
I have been leaning on this… I love it… have so many dear friends (that are young) battling serious stage IV cancers right now! Such a reminder to TRUST Him and that He is our HOPE! Overflow us Lord!

One of the things that I took away from the Simulcast in August was what Beth said about morning devotions. I am NOT a morning person and work full time but when Beth said it was like “God tapping my shoulder saying, wake up I want to talk with you”, I saw it in a completely different light and since then I have been up in the morning and meet with the Lord an hour before I go to work. God has been faithful, as always! I have the ESV study Bible and it is amazing. Enjoy yours Lauri! The more I am in the Word the more I realize I have yet to learn. I love how the same verse speaks to me in different ways at different times! Have a great day full of God’s rich blessing!

Congrats to the winners! I have to add to the popquiz though… In my quiet time yesterday I was listening to session one of Stepping up. Beth talked about Psalm 13… after the death of our precious Rachael on April 28 I felt like this:
1 How long, O LORD ? Will you forget me forever?
How long will you hide your face from me?
2 How long must I wrestle with my thoughts
and every day have sorrow in my heart?
How long will my enemy triumph over me?
3 Look on me and answer, O LORD my God.
Give light to my eyes, or I will sleep in death;
4 my enemy will say, “I have overcome him,”
and my foes will rejoice when I fall.
After months of trudging through the valley of death’s shadow with Him always at my side, I feel like this… Alway honor, glory and praise belongs to HIM.
5 But I trust in your unfailing love;
my heart rejoices in your salvation.
6 I will sing to the LORD,
for he has been good to me.
Isn’t HE awesome!!!
God bless,
Georgia

Kathy Pink Bicycle Arkansas,
I thought your comment was a great idea for a separate post. So if you’ll bear with me a couple days I’d love to address that topic. Thanks, sister! Blessings to you!
I would love to see this done into a Siesta Devotional! Please, Mama Beth?!?!
Hi Beth & Girls!
Consider this your invite!! Hope you'll join in with us!
I am looking for as many people as we can find that would like to participate in a bloggy "Giving Thanks on Thanksgiving." I dreamed this idea up as a way to give thanks to the Lord for His work in each of our lives by sharing our testimonies with the world wide web on Monday, November 24, 2008. That's the Monday before Thanksgiving guys! Many of you may choose to leave that post up for the entire week and I encourage that. My prayer is that this sharing of our testimonies will not only encourage each other and give Glory to our Lord but also to those who happen upon our blogs.
Here's how it'll work:
Set to post to publish on: Monday, November 24, 2008.
In your post title put: "Giving Thanks on Thanksgiving: (Then insert a name for your testimony)" Example: "Giving Thanks on Thanksgiving: Renovations of the Heart"
At the end of your post insert the short paragraph (copy and paste if you want) below with a link to the dedicated blog located at: http://www.themouthbehindthemoose.blogspot.com (It reads THE MOUTH BEHIND THE MOOSE). I have set up this special blog just for the event as a way of directing people to where prayerfully 1000's of testimonies can be at their fingertips. Here's the blurb for the end of your post on that day: "Today, many of us bloggers have devoted a special post in which we are "Giving Thanks on Thanksgiving" by sharing our personal testimonies of the Lord's work in our lives and/or that of our families. Our collective prayer is that this sharing of our testimonies will not only encourage each other and give Glory to our Lord, but also to those who happen upon our blogs. To enjoy many more testimonies like the one you've just read please visit the "Giving Thanks on Thanksgiving" blog located HERE. "
Lastly, be sure you go to the dedicated site and add your blog to the Mr. Linky list so those visiting the site can find your testimony there. When you add yourself to the link be sure to do it like this so if they want to refer people to your testimony they can find it easier. Example: Heather (Renovations of the Heart) or Susan (Breast Cancer) or John (Loss of Parent)
Hope your testimony will be there too!!
Grace & Peace,
Heather Twitchell

I must confess that it has taken much longer for me to get this truth than it should have, but it is finally starting to penetrate. God, through His Word and His Spirit, is teaching me that it is about ‘being’ not ‘doing.’ It’s about who I am in Jesus, not what I do to try to get to Him. Call out to Him and He will answer. If you ask Him to teach you how to have a quiet time, He will, by His Spirit, do just that. Start with five minutes and an open Bible at the same time every day and in the same place and He will take it from there. Because God has so many different individual children, I don’t think there are two quiet times that are exactly alike.
Blessings to all of you,
Patti

I’ve been through a BM study before but never knew there was a blog. Thank you Beth Moore for your sharing your gift of teaching and being such an encouragement to the body. This looked neat but I found the blog a day late, even so I hadn’t had my quiet time so wouldn’t have been able to participate, but all the ladies who did it was wonderful encouragement SO THANK YOU “siestas”!!! It is neat to be able to connect as the body even thru each others blogs. Love in Christ, Mrs. Tiffany Renee Phillips
I’m with “annonymous”… more please! and I don’t need the prize either, just the encouragement! Thanks! Congrats to the winners, though 🙂
I just recently discovered t he blog. Of course the day I do not check into it. LOL
I need to check every day to be up on what is going on. LOL
also convicted by Beth’s Cry out from Tuesday in Get out of the Pit. Wake up before the Dawn and have my time with HIM. He was waking me up. I had quit listening for his call lately due to other things and being under weather. Pray for me, He will not give up and I can hear HIM call in the morning again and be willing to arise for HIS WORD. I am doing Beth’s Psalms of Ascent and still getting the hang of the face down. Wonder at times if I stay that way long enough to hear it?
I offer suggestions on that too.
in HIS care
Shelly
I am so jealous Siestas!!! I did not make the posting in time but I was so blessed to read several of yours.
I must run out and get the ESV Study Bible. I read from several translations and this will just add to my collection. I am like “jennyhope” and will stalk Lifeway for it. I have ordered “Esther” for the church and should receive it soon. We will begin this study January 8th at 7:00 pm and we can hardly wait to get started. There should be somewhere between 50 and 75 of us (I pray).
We are finishing “Anointed, Transformed, and Redeemed, A Study of David” from the Deeper Still conference, tomorrow night and I have to tell you Siestas….you MUST do this one!!! What a great study. Kudos to you Miss Beth.

OK – I missed the pop quiz because I checked the blog on Sunday, then again Monday evening! Agh!! I’m setting LPM blog as my homepage right now!!! 🙂
Congrats and Blessings to all 6 winners. I think we should do this again soon!
oh I was hopeful!! Well, I just bought mine yesterday and hope to have it early next week. What a blessing I pray these resources our to our dear siestas who won!! Thank you Jesus for the tools to know you more!
FOR MELISSA (if you have time, please)
What is your scholarly opinion on ESV? I really appreciate your expert opinion.
I am assuming it is at least favorable since you guys did this big give away..:-)
I had mine pre-ordered and it was worth the wait! I really love it!
Having Wayne Grudem, J.I. Packer, David Powlison and my total favorite – John Piper…all contributing in some way, whether articles or study notes!!!
(By the way, Bethlehem Baptist in MN is going to have one of their women’s group studying THE BELOVED DISCIPLE, by our very own Siesta Mama.
The ESV’s biblical scholars/contributors (that I have heard or read) on this team are sound, godly, teachers, professors, pastors. They have multiple degrees from places like Oxford and Cambridge…BUT..that is not the most important thing.
The MOST IMPORTANT thing is that in listening to them lecture at various times or preach – these men live what they teach and preach! They don’t just have a head theology…they have a heart theology and they are sound!!
TO MY FELLOW SIESTAS’…Believe me, you will love this Bible. I do hate to put away my Bible from 2 years ago that Beth recommended when I first started listening to her…so I keep both!
Give this one a try…it’s beautiful in language like the KJV; it has tons and tons of background information on the most minute details of the scripture that will help you…plus everything else you could need…in one place!!
Sorry to gush 🙂 Congratulations winners!!!
Thanks if you respond Melissa and if you’re busy…then I’ll take that as a thumbs up.:-)
Blessings,
Teri
I missed this, but what a cool idea. Thanks for doing this!
Yeah, Twinkle !!!
