    Rebekah Reed says:

Rebekah Reed from Green Bay, WI:

“Shall the prey be taken from the mighty, Or the captives of the righteous be delivered? But thus says the LORD: ‘Even the captives of the mighty shall be taken away, And the prey of the terrible be delivered; For I will contend with him who contends with you, And I will save your children. I will feed those who oppress you with their own flesh, And they shall be drunk with their own blood as with sweet wine. All flesh shall know That I, the LORD am your Savior, And your Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob” (Isaiah 49:24-26, NKJV).

I am so thankful for how the LORD has spoken personal words to my life through the verses I came to in Isaiah 49 and Psalm 24, and also how He showed me Jesus in these chapters!

Thank you Beth for encouraging me to do this. I have each one of my verses on a 3×5 card that I keep on my bedside table. I can’t tell you how many times I refer to them, how they come to my mind just when I need them. I peruse them each night and morning and all thru the day. Truly, God has written these words on my heart. Thank you again for your ministry – Merry Christmas!

Let your conversation always be full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone. Colossians 4:6

I memorized Colossians 3 and into 4 because it is so practical. I had long since tried to live out 3:17 and 23 to help be with a good attitude, especially at work, but I need to know that I am chosen, holy, and dearly loved! And because that is my identity in Christ, I am to clothe myself with compassion, kindness, gentleness, and patience, and forgive because that’s what my Heavenly Father has done for me. If I could apply these verses daily and let my conversation always be full of grace, then as Paul goes on to say, I will be able to “stand firm in all the will of God, mature, and fully assured” (4:12). What more could we want than knowing we are firm in ALL the will of God. May it be LORD !

I really love scripture. His word gives life and brings me much peace. Thank you all for posting…love reading through all the verses from all over the globe! Looking forward to FL!!! xo

“16 Rejoice always, 17 pray without ceasing, 18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” NRSV

2017 was perhaps the most difficult year in my life to date, part of three year sideways slide that has left no family member untouched. It began with the untimely death of my mother. She had a spiritual practice of having a word for the year. REJOICE was her word for 2017. What a blessing that one word has been for me all year, sustaining my family. Tomorrow my father turns 79 and he is reading this scripture tomorrow in church. It was “randomly”, divinely assigned to him. Thank you, Mom, thank you Beth for providing another forum for the Word, and THANK YOU, JESUS, without whom we’d be forever lost.

I honestly didn’t know if I would make it to the end. I had the desire, but lack discipline at times. What a wonderful and faithful God to bring me to the finish line, all to HIS glory! Tucking these pieces of God’s word in my heart has not only encouraged me personally throughout this year, but The Lord has brought these precious words to mind so that others may be encouraged as well. I have been challenged in such a great way as I struggle to remember at times but then get to rejoice with the Lord when He brings them to mind!!

Luke 2:11-20 -Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. 12 This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”13 Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, 14 “Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.” 15 When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.”16 So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. 17 When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, 18 and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. 19 But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart. 20 The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told.

I realized last time that I was short a verse! But it worked out perfect when I returned to my first memory verse and backed up one! Lol Beth, I am so grateful at the wonderful habit you have imparted to me this past year. Also, I have thrived on the wisdom found in these verses! God gave me so much revelation throughout this year. He even used “She girds herself with strength and strengthens her arms” to keep me lifting weights and exercising! Lol. I know I’m a day late but by the grace of God I accomplished my goal. Thank you for inspiring me to do this the rest of my life!!
    Thank you Jesus!!

I have no greater joy than this,to hear my children walk in the truth.

For some weird reason, memorization of words is difficult for me. Two a month was too much. But I tried anyway. Just the scriptures have been an anchor during a very difficult year. I see value in memorizing God’s word and will continue to attempt it-but at my own pace.

“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade -kept in heaven for you, who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time.”

    1 Peter 1:3-5 (NIV)

Oftentimes I do my Scripture memory while walking during my lunch break at work, and it is so refreshing for me to have that time alone with God in the middle of my day. I’m walking, and He’s talking to me as I go through His Word in my mind. There’s nothing else like it!

“Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God – children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born or God.”

This year many of my verses have dwelt on Jesus’s amazing obedience. He obeyed his father even to the point of dying on the cross. No one made him do it, he chose it. Obedience is love. What a hero Jesus is! (John 14:30-31, Phil.2:6-8, John 10:11, John 10:15,17-18, Mat. 26:39)

      Audrey says:

The blessing of memorizing Scripture in community cannot be overstated. The accountability, although very minimal on our end, is enough to encourage me to keep with it. And the Lord is so faithful to bring His Word to mind in moments when I need it—most recent has been a reminder to “Watch (my) tongue and keep (my) mouth shut and (I) will stay out of trouble.” Next year marks my 10th year of memory work (5 of them with you ). I cannot imagine these years another way. Thank you for the challenge to begin and the encouragement to keep with it. Much love to you! Blessings as you start in on Galatians, while I work to finish 2 Timothy. Even forgetful minds can memorize—I am a testament to that!

Thank you LPM team & Beth for spurring me on through memorizing a whole chapter plus some! I never imagined I could do it. Beth, when you told us that we could ask God to help us to do it, I did and it opened up a floodgate of ability I didn’t even realize I could tap into. This has opened doors for me to ask the Lord for so much more than I ever thought to ask him for before in every area of my life. Now when I pray I write my requests then I tear them up and write them 30% bolder! Boy has my faith increased as a result of this. I’m so so grateful for you and your team.

Therefore I endure everything for the sake of the elect, that they too may obtain the salvation that is in Christ Jesus, with eternal glory. 2 Timothy 2:10 NIV84

It’s been amazing to see how G-d has orchestrated the verses to line up with my life throughout the year since I was memorizing a chunk of scripture and not picking and choosing verses.

  43. 393
    cheryt says:

Cheryl of Phoenixville, PA Eph 6:14-17 ESV Standing, therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth and having put on the breastplate of righteousness. And, as shoes for your feet, having the readiness given by the gospel of peace. In all circumstances, take up the shield of faith with which you can extinguish the fiery darts of the evil one. And take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the spirit, which is the Word of the Lord.
I’m in awe of the discipline and success that the Holy Spirit has given me to memorize through the year. It is obvious that it was not me – since memorizing has never been easy for me – but His fresh work in me in a new season of my life.

    Revelation 4:11 HCSB
Our Lord and God, You are worthy to receive glory and honor and power, because You have created all things, and because of Your will they exist and were created.

Two years ago when we were memorizing, I lost my son. This year I lost my husband. Surely the enemy does NOT want us hiding God’s word in our hearts…but I am able to stand today and tell you that it is that very Word and our great big God revealed by that Word that has carried me and will carry you through the tough stuff. He is worthy!
