    Hello Beth,

It was great to see you this weekend in your home state and my home state of Texas. I live in West Central Florida, but I was born and raised in the great state of Texas. Who knew they had an airport in Wichita Falls? Oddly enough, on the short hop back from Wichita Falls to Dallas, I was sitting in 6C, right next to Travis Cottrell. While I was sitting there, the Holy Spirit prompted me to take out my tablet and He led me to 2 Peter 3:16-18. But it wasn’t until this morning, when I was flat on my face in prayer, that the LORD connected 2 Peter 3:16-18 to something you said during LPL on Saturday.

You said you never argue with a Pharisee because you can’t win an argument with a Pharisee. That isn’t true because Jesus, who was fully God and fully man when He walked the earth, was empowered by the Holy Spirit, and he sent the Pharisees away speechless. Those of us who are walking in the Spirit have the same power that Jesus had to respond to those who twist the Scriptures for their own evil desires. The Spirit gives us utterance.

There is an Old Testament verse in Proverbs (Proverbs 6:16-19) that lists seven things that are an abomination to the LORD. Lying is listed twice in those verses that describe seven things the LORD hates. We can go back to the Old Testament book of Genesis and learn from Joseph the dreamer that when God doubles something we should take heed of it.

As for your strategy of calling on your friends of a different stream to “cuss” the ones you don’t know what to do with, be careful! No one can curse anyone outside the will of God. 2 Peter 2:15-16 mentions Balaam, the prophet who tried to curse God’s chosen against God’s will. He was unsuccessful and ended up blessing God’s chosen instead of cursing them. The full story of Balaam is in the Old Testament book of Numbers 22-24, and we find out later that Balaam died for His sin against God at the hands of God’s chosen. It’s much better for us to live in the power of the Holy Spirit, and allow God to protect us and avenge wrong according to His will.

The active and living Word of God is connected with a single stream that begins in Genesis and runs through Revelation. All God’s children must study both the Old Testament and the New Testament, lest we lose our stability to our own destruction like those Peter referred to in 2 Peter 3.

There were moments during LPL Wichita Falls when I laughed so hard I almost split a rib. it took all I had not to tweet, “Dead!” I am so thankful for the strong presence of the Holy Spirit that I experienced while I was “high in the hair of Texas”!!!

I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your mom, and your dad, Jacquelyne. May you sense the presence and comfort of Christ today in your grief. Thank you so much for your kind words to Beth. She says she saw a fire for God and for His word in a teacher long ago and ever since then, she daily asks for her love for Jesus and His Word to grow more and more – above all else. I love that it’s not just reserved for our teachers or pastors, don’t you! That love for Him and from Him is for us all who ask and seek Him!

My young friend and I enjoyed every moment; how blessed we felt to be there! I would like to especially give Travis and the praise team a loud Hurray! Each time they paused and the audience sang the chorus back to the praise team it seemed to me personally that we, the attendees were being privileged to minister to you! How awesome, to not just attend but to feel that our praise and worship was ministering to those who came to minister to us. God Bless you all! 2 Cor 13:11
