He’s Always Been Faithful

Every night my phone sits perched on an iHome dock that sits on my bedside table a mere two feet from my head. Besides the fact that the iHome speakers can get very loud (which I love when I’m listening to my music), it also doubles as my phone charger and my alarm. I’m not one who wakes up very well to a blaring beeping sound (I find that so disturbing), but I do love a good song to wake up to. I can either set the song I wake up to, or it grabs the last song I was listening to. Does that even make sense? This is really too much information, but bear with me. Anyway, I found it so appropriate when the other morning my phone woke me up by singing Sara Grove’s He’s Always Been Faithful. It had been a long time since I had actually listened to the song, but I must have pressed snooze and it just kept playing the next song, then the next one, and so on and so forth.

So, this is what I woke up to:

Morning by morning I wake up to findĀ
The power and comfort of Godā€™s hand in mineĀ
Season by season I watch Him, amazedĀ
In awe of the mystery of His perfect waysĀ
All I have need of, His hand will provideĀ
Heā€™s always been faithful to me.Ā

I canā€™t remember a trial or a painĀ
He did not recycle to bring me gainĀ
I canā€™t remember one single regretĀ
In serving God only, and trusting His handĀ
All I have need of, His hand will provideĀ
Heā€™s always been faithful to me.Ā

This is my anthem, this is my songĀ
The theme of the stories Iā€™ve heard for so longĀ
God has been faithful, He will be againĀ
His loving compassion, it knows no endĀ
All I have need of, His hand will provideĀ
Heā€™s always been faithful, Heā€™s always been faithfulĀ
Heā€™s always been faithful to me.

I love it so much. I don’t know a more appropriate song for the week that we have had. Y’all. I think we can all agree that it has been a heavy, bizarre and fearful week for so many people. It just reminded me all the more that we live in a very broken world with very broken people (including me and you) and we need Jesus in the worst way. And not only do we all need Him for the blatantly obvious evil around us, we need Him in our own day to day lives. (And the truth is, we DO have Him, but sometimes we act like we don’t.) We need Him to show up in the details we’ve feared He’s forgotten or pushed aside. Every now and then we need a reminder that He has always been faithful. To me. To you. To us.

As I was getting ready to head to work this morning, I thought what a better day than to share with each other the ways the Lord has specifically been faithful to us this week? Sometimes we just need to reflect, or really look and know that He indeed, has been faithful yet again. Even when we’ve been faithless. Maybe He’s answered an obvious prayer request. Maybe He provided for you in a way you didn’t even know how to ask for. Maybe you got a bit of encouragement from someone at the right time you didn’t know you needed. Maybe He spared you from a hurt. Maybe He protected you from what could have been a huge disaster. Maybe He rekindled an old relationship or friendship you’d been praying about. Maybe He sent you a new friend. Maybe He led you out of an area of tempation and gave you victory for one week in what you thought was nearly impossible.

I don’t know. We shouldn’t be able to count the ways He’s been faithful to us, because He always is, but sometimes we just miss it.

Last week I was feeling really needy in my love tank. I know that’s not necessarily a good thing, but it’s the truth so I was telling the Lord about it and just simply asked Him if He’d show me He loved me through one of my love languages. I realize that may sound really cheesy, and even though the cross was His ultimate sacrifice and love for me, and I know that, I just needed a little affirmation that I had not completely fallen off His radar. Listen, I’m just being completely honest. I didn’t know how He’d go about showing me, but I knew He could if He wanted to and if I’d just open up my eyes and see. My love tank happens to fill up pretty quick with quality time and words of affirmation, so imagine my delight when I got to work Wednesday morning only to receive a hand written letter from someone who didn’t know me from Adam. A letter of encouragement that only the Lord could have known I needed. Lest you think He’s not into the details, be encouraged that He is SO into the details. And if He can work out the small details and requests like that one, don’t you think He has the big things worked out, too? I love Him for that.

He is faithful, Sister.

He always has been and always will be.

So let’s hear it! Let’s build each other’s faith!

How has He showed Himself faithful to you this week?

Happy Friday, y’all!

“So let us seizeĀ andĀ hold fastĀ andĀ retain without wavering theĀ hope we cherishĀ andĀ confessĀ andĀ our acknowledgement of it, for He Who promised is reliable (sure)Ā andĀ faithful to His word.” Hebrews 10:23 (Amplified)

Just today! My husband (after getting no more than 5 hours sleep — we have two young children and an infant) had a golf game scheduled with someone he’s been wanting to do business with for quite sometime. Now this guy is a country club member and golfs nearly every day so my husband was worried he was going to blow it and embarrass himself. My man could have opted to hit the links a bunch of times in the last few weeks (including skipping out on church yesterday) but he’s a faithful family man to the core. SO, the whole family (even my 3 year old!) prayed for that man’s game this morning – despite little practice and even less sleep. He texted me just a bit ago that he played the game of his life – shot an 85!!!!

Stand up and give God some praise! He has done great things for us!

Yes, God is faithful. Difficult weekend. My best friend is battling pancreatic cancer, and his chemo meds caused heart failure. Friday when I took him to the ER, I thought he was going to die right there, so I pressed him, and he finally admitted that he does believe Jesus died for him, so I was so thankful for that.

We got him home yesterday but were worried last night. This morning I awoke at 5am with him on my heart. After praying though many Psalms, I got ready to go help him and fight with these doctors. Yet when I heard from my friend, he was doing a little better and had slept well.

So thankful for God’s provision and constant presence, and thankful for the power of His spoken Word in prayer.

Sooo needed this today. Just been so very discouraged. I’m going to share that prayer and ask that He encourage me through my love languages as well and just wait and see what happens. He is faithful and has shown that to me in many ways. Prayed for your friend Michelle! hang in there!

HE IS SO FAITHFUL!! I know that he is faithful when my 4 year old comes to me and says I love you Mommy…when the spring green foliage reminds me of the life He has given me…when an accident is avoided…when a friend is diagnosed with stage 4 cancer and can share his joy despite his prognosis…when you are inspired by the one that you have gone to inspire… by every minute to draw breath and praise His name… when I have a flip-flop blow-out…when life is serious, funny, fearful etc… I can depend on Him to be faithful!!!
May He bless you all in His Faithfulness!!

I am a 27 year old working wife and mother of 3– 2 boys (6 and 3) and 1 precious little baby girl (4 months). We are living in north-central Louisiana and I am very proud to say that with God’s grace and mercy, my husband and I have defied many odds by staying married (long-distantly I might add as he is an oil and gas landman) and fighting for our family. See, I got a little “ahead of the game” while I was in college, but I would never ever trade the path my life has taken. Over the last couple of years, however, I have been attacked to the core by the enemy himself, and still fight him on a daily basis to remain pure-hearted, to not let myself grow “cold” and to truly love and have patience for the current stage my children are in, my marriage is in, and the career I have chosen.

I am extremely thankful for any and all prayer as my husband and I try to raise our family to reflect God’s unending love for all of us. Days can be hard, nights can be long, and sometimes I just don’t make it out the door without coffee on my pants, spit-up on my blouse, and cheerios crushed on the seat of pants. But God is good and I will continue to fight this world and its resistance to family….even if I am only 27!

Thank you so much for this post, Lindsee! I had heard Sara Groves’ song before, but only downloaded it last week after your post. It is such an encouragement & reminder to me that no matter what life brings me, I can count on God to be ever-present, ever-caring, ever-loving, & ever-faithful to me! My husband & I are in the process of adopting & have been awaiting a placement for almost 2 years. It is easy to get discouraged in the wait, but God has been so faithful to us by granting us patience & strength during this time. It sounds crazy to most people to say that being unable to have biological children is a “blessing”, but without that road block in our lives, we would not have the relationship with each other, nor the same strength of relationship with God that we have today. HE is so very FAITHFUL! Praise Him for the blessings, but praise be to Him for the hardships as well!!

Recently I made a video praising God for his faithfulness the past 3 years. Our youngest son (the youngest of 5) has a life threatning illness of which there is no known cure. The disease is called pulmonary hypertension. He has over 2800 beads of courage (each representing some sort of medical procedure), he has spent over 100 days in the hospital and he has had more emergency situations/ambulance rides than any child ever should.

God has been so faithful. Even though Daniel has had such a tough road, he is joyful. He truly loves his life. And even though Daniel’s future is uncertain as we do not know how long his heart will last, God has filled our hearts with hope. Romans 15:13 has become our life verse. “May the God of all hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”

Although the road has been hard and tomorrow is not promised, joy has not left our home. My husband and I marvel at this miracle of God. He is a God of all hope. And He is faithful.

“For I consider the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared to the glory that is to be revealed to us.” Romans 8:18

We hole onto this truth. And entrust ourselves to our faithful creator.

Hey Lindsee, I’m so glad you posted this, I think things are getting crazier and crazier in the world today…I also think that the enemy knows his time is shorter than ever…I’m praying for revival. Our churches, communities, and nation desperately needs it! I love that song’s lyrics. I have not heard it before. I do have a story of His Faithfulness to me this past week. Last Sat night, my littlest one got up to nurse at midnight, two, four, six, and eight AM. Then I went to church that morning. That night, I was thinking surely things would go better. Not so much, my three-year old fell asleep on the way home from my in-laws and slept from about 6pm to 4am. Four. In the morning. She would not go back to sleep, and my little guy still got up at about 3:30am and 6am. BUT, God is Faithful, because my husband has now noticed my incredible lack of sleep lately and is giving me a “day off” this Saturday. You know what that means??? I get to get my hair cut and colored for the first time at a salon in over 9 months!! And, if I want to, I could take a three hour nap:) I love my little ones, but sometimes a momma need a refreshing break, and the Lord is Faithful to give it to me:) Praise HIM!
