Hey, my dear loved ones!
I believe God has placed something on my heart for us to do here in our community for the next several vital days on our nation’s calendar. It will take place in two parts.
Part One: Today and for the next twenty-four hours in comments to this post, those who are willing are going to comprise prayers drawn from Scripture for our new president and the nation he will lead. These Scriptures incorporated into prayers don’t have to be limited to the ones we’re most accustomed to seeing for leaders. By all means, look at those but also consider a Bible-full of precepts that speak to character and integrity and the many qualities that comprise a great leader. See how the Holy Spirit might lay them on your heart and turn them into intercession. Also consider Scriptures that speak to issues like protection from harm for our president and for our nation and wholeness of heart.
If you need a launching point for your thoughts, think about how you’d want people to pray for your husband if he were elected president tomorrow. Go from there. Make it any length from a few sentences to a meaty paragraph but not long. Remember what Jesus said about those wanting to be heard for their many words in prayer. Keep it succinct and sincere. This is really important and you’ll see the reasons why during Part Two. The comments to this post will be limited entirely to prayers. Please add no other words or comments or even greetings or replies to one another on this one. Let’s just do the thing that really makes the difference. Refrain from signing your name to the bottom of it because you’re going to see in Part Two that others will be using it. Just sign off with an “Amen” or similar benediction but do indeed list any references for the verses your prayers were based on.
The most important discipline of this process is writing our prayers before we know who our president will be. Needless to say, other petitions specific to the man who is elected will be vital throughout his presidency but for this public format and for this 24-hour period of time, we’re going to write our prayers without knowing who it will be. I think (and hope!) we will find this approach very effective and helpful in our focus and prayer-direction throughout Part Two. Oftentimes, heightened emotion and opinion cloud focus, clarity, and wisdom in our prayer lives, especially with so much at stake. It’s hard to pray according to the Holy Spirit when our flesh is inflamed. Remember at the end of all of this, our God is sovereign and at no time does He lose control.
Your prayer will need to take this basic skeletal form:
Address God the way you feel led (Dear Father in Heaven or Creator of Heaven and Earth or Sovereign Lord, etc.)
Write the petition for our new president and for our nation.
Conclude it “In Jesus’ Name, Amen” or with something of similar intent and assigned authority.
List all Scripture references that your prayers were drawn from or based on. (Just the locations. You do not need to write them all the way out.)
Part Two: 24-hours or so after this post opens for comment, it will be closed. In other words, by mid-morning Tuesday, November 6th (Election Day) there will be no further way to leave additional comments but you will have full access to all of those already written. (Comments that come in after work hours this evening will all be posted before the 24-hour closure so don’t worry. If you write a prayer before the 24 hours is up, it will get posted when Lindsee is able to complete all moderations. It takes a while.)
After the election results are in, here’s what I’m suggesting. This is the time we get to reap the harvest sown in Part One. Come back to this post and start voicing a number of these prayers that resonate most with you. More importantly perhaps, consider voicing the ones that may be harder for you but you know they are godly, sound, and Scriptural. If you’re less sure about some of them, look up the Scripture references the intercessor listed and see if the context gives you any insight or direction. You can use this as a resource for your prayers not only in this 48-hour period but in days to come. Consider praying several of them per day until you work your way through them. That’s what I’m going to shoot for. I’m hoping to print them out and stick them in my prayer journal and voice several at a time over the weeks to come until I’ve agreed in prayer with practically all of them.
I’m not remotely suggesting this is the only way to pray for the next few days and in the weeks to come. It’s just one way but I really do believe this is the approach God placed upon my heart for our blog community. I’m looking so forward to harvesting some of this fruit in the coming days and there is no doubt in my mind that it will help direct my petitions and cause me to intercede for things I would have overlooked. I am continually inspired in my prayer life by the powerful prayers of others. Aren’t you? Let’s do this, Sisters. I think blessing awaits us and, far more importantly, awaits our new president.
I love you so dearly, ladies. My word, we’ve been around long enough to spend our second election together. I pray with all my heart that God will be pleased with this community and will use it to encourage and edify the Body of Christ in a way only He can empower or explain. He is so worthy of our trust and He is well able and willing to respond to earnest prayers that align with His will and come to Him through the glorious, saving Name of His Son.
Before I sign off, all three Moore-Jones-Fitzpatrick girls could use your prayers! We are all headed to the other side of the world and to two different locations. Later today Melissa and I will board a plane for Greece for a dual-purpose trip over the next 7 days. (Voted early) As guests of Nick and Christine Caine, we will have the privilege of seeing some of the work of the A21 Campaign (Abolishing Injustice in the 21st Century) from a much closer angle and attend (and serve at) a conference there. I love nothing better than seeing what God is doing around this globe. God is using this time on the Kingdom calendar to expose horrendous injustices – particularly in the areas of human trafficking – that need to be fought by the Body of Christ. (See Isaiah 58!)
Melissa and I are also beginning a new Bible study journey together and, with the help of a guide, will be doing research in some very strategic places involved in the series. You will not waste a prayer on us! Pray for God to show us great and mighty things that we do not know (Jeremiah 33:3) and bless us with powerful encounters and insights and help us to serve people effectively and affectionately there amid such cultural differences. We are certain they will be a blessing of God to us but we want so much to also be a blessing of God to them. THEN, Amanda follows right behind us two days later (on Wednesday) heading to India for a very important mission trip with the organization “As Our Own.” Even in our very different destinations, all three of us will be serving in areas where human trafficking is appallingly prevalent and believers are being mobilized slowly but surely to cry out and labor for its end.

I come before you this election morning with butterflies in my stomach every time that I think about this election. I think I know how important it is, but I know you know much beyond that and I’m so glad. I’m so glad that You can see beyond today (Psalm 147:5); I’m so glad that YOU are our Rock, our Fortress, and our Deliverer (Psalm 62); I’m so glad that You love us beyond my own comprehension (Eph. 3:17-19); I’m so glad that You are the same yesterday, today and tomorrow (Hebrews 13:8); I’m so glad that You will still be on Your throne no matter who gets elected today (Rev. 5:13). I love You, I love You, I love You.

Dear Heavenly Father I lift up our new president to you. Please give him a spirit of wisdon and revelation to know you better. I pray also that the eyes of his heart may be enlightened in order that he may know the hope to which he was called. Dear God, the Living God, who made heaven and earth, hear my prayer. You alone are God over all the kingdoms of the earth. I lift this prayer for the president of the United States that he will have the gift of wisdom to lead this country in the way of justice. Help him to act with honor. You hear us when we pray and today we join together to lift up our nation and this election. I am comforted to know that you are the one who raises up leaders and puts them in office. I pray for a man of integrity and truth to lead our nation in these difficult times. I claim the words of Matthew 18:20 from The Message: “Take this most seriously: A yes on earth is yes in heaven; a no on earth is no in heaven. What you say to one another is eternal. I mean this. When two of you get together on anything at all on earth and make a prayer of it, my Father in heaven goes into action. And when two or three of you are together because of me, you can be sure that I’ll be there.”

Thank you for this opportunity to pray on behalf of our future president. I thank you that you have allowed this man to be chosen as our President. I pray you would begin a fresh new work in our presidents heart to perfect the things that you desire in him and for our nation. Father please allow your wisdom and understanding to come with clarity and flow through our president each day he awakens to make decisions for our nation. I prayer that you will awaken him and use him as a vessel of honor in the office of presidency that you have allowed. We pray that the man placed in that Oval Office is planted there by You, for the display of Your splendor. Let him be an oak of righteousness, showing Your glory to our nation and to the world. I ask for a protecting garb of humility, that he would take on the nature of a servant to this country and to his family and most of all to You. As a direct result of his presidency, I ask that more and more people would come to profess faith in your saving grace. I pray that he would be humble and obedient towards You, and protected and lifted up in return. Lord Jesus, bless our President. Let Him fear you and walk in your ways.

Lord, simply put – we need you. You have said in your word that in our time of need, we can come to You and cry out to you in our affliction, and You will hear and save. (2 Chron 20: 9 & 12) I will choose to believe you in this moment: that You see us, You know how far we have strayed, and You are entirely faithful and capable of healing our land.
And now, come near to us as we elect a leader. May the results be clear on who You have brought to rule over this country for the next 4 years. LORD, may this man discover your laws and have the boldness to bring this country back to You in repentance. In the middle of huge, complex problems, strength His dependance on you. May he cry out to You, may You answer him and tell him great and hidden things that he has not known (Jer. 33:3). Oh Lord, You are bringing about a much better Kingdom than any man has ever known – and I ache for that day. But today is what I have and this is my prayer: May every statute of our new president that honors You proposer … and may he seek repentance in every statute that dishonors You.

God, Father and King of all people and nations, we lift up our new leader. Let him fear you as he embarks on important decisions and policies (Psalm 111:10). Give him wisdom, discernment and judgment (1 Kings 3:5). Dear Heavenly Father,
As we pray for our nation today, we lift our President up to you. Thank you that You are the Lord of all, and that Your hand is on Your people, Lord. You said, “The king’s heart is in the hand of the Lord, like the rivers of water; He turns it wherever He wishes (Pr. 21:1).” Lord, may You seek for Yourself a man after Your own heart to be over your people (1 Sam 13:14). We pray for him to be a mighty man of valor, a man of war (not ignoring his spiritual duty to cover our nation in prayer–diligent to deal in situations and not to sit idly by), prudent in speech, and that you, Lord, are with him (1 Sam. 16:18). We pray that the President of our nation would dwell in your secret place, abide under the shadow of the Almighty, and that he will say of You, Lord, ‘He is my refuge and my fortress, My God, in Him I will trust.’ Lord, we pray that our President would set his love upon You, that You will deliver him, You will set him on high because he has known Your name. We pray that he will call upon You, and You will answer him–You will be with him in trouble; You will deliver him and honor him, with long life You will satisfy him and show Him your salvation (Ps. 91).

Heavenly father, thank you for the love and freedom you have given us through your son Jesus christ.
As we prepare to elect a new leader for our country, we kneel and pray that you may strengthen and guide him with power through your spirit. We pray that you keep him established in his faith and convictions so that he may use honest observations and deep devotion to rightfully focus all decions for our country and the future of your children.
We pray that Christ dwells in hish heart through faith, and that he share the love of christ with our nation. We pray that you also keep us established in our religion so that we continue to focous on faith, hope, and charity.
We pray that you give us strength to support this leader and all leaders. To open the day this day in prayer, we remind our new leader as well as ourselves that the Lord remembers eery labor done in love.
Finally, forgive us for any neglect or disrespect we may have previously shown leaders. Guide us to conduct ourselves honorably and prosper under new leadership and fulfill your purpose.

Lord give us rulers who will behave wisely and give heed to the blameless way. Men and women who will walk in integrity and with a blameless heart. I pray they will set no base or wicked thing before their eyes. That they would hate the work of them who turn aside from the right path.
Lord cause them to abhor a perverse heart and despise the evil person or thing.
May they have no time for those who slander and refuse to tolerate those who have a haughty look and a proud and arrogant heart. Truth and humility Lord!!
Lord, raise up leaders who look with favor upon the faithful of the land. May they have no place in their administration for anyone who works deceit or who tells lies. May they work to root up all the wicked in the land, that our country will once again bring honor to the Lord.

I lift up our new President to you. I ask that you would give him a safe journey as he leads us for the next four years. Father, we ask that you would keep their families safe. Give the people trusted with protecting them great wisdom as they watch for danger. We know our leader will face choices, help him to choose your way everytime.

I petition You as we prepare to chose the next leader for the next four years. I pray that they would seek wisdom (Prov.4), as they make decisions for our country that they would apply this in all decision making not just looking to please man but understanding that our country needs more “Godly leadership”. You are the God our country needs to return to and I pray that through this new leader You would do a mighty work in this country that would make us a redeeming light to this world (Matt 5:14) through this new leadership. (Jer. 29:11) I trust in the plans that you have for this country. Amen

May the President accept your words and store up your commands. May he turn his ear to wisdom and apply his heart to understanding. May he call out for insight and look for it as silver and search for it as for hidden treasure. May he fear you and find your knowledge. Please give him wisdom and knowledge and understanding. (Pro 2:1-6). Amen
Dear Lord, I pray that you will guide our President with full hands on him. Please teach him that YOU are the One he should look to. I pray that You will not let him lead us based on the whims of the 4 winds, and certainly not based on pressures from powerful people who do not follow You. With grace and love and mercy, teach our President that the path to wisdom and great leadership is by earnestly seeking to follow You. Proverbs 1:7

Lord, I ask for our next President to be a trustworthy, man of great integrity and character. Your word says that “Unless you are faithful in small matters, you wont be faithful in large ones. If you cheat even a little, you wont be honest with greater responsibility.” (Luke 16:10) I pray the man elected today would be faithful in the little things in his personal life, political life, and our nations “life”…if he is tempted to cheat or cut a corner Lord, bring him to Your word and help he to do what is right in Your eyes Lord!

Dear Sovereign God, Though sometimes a mystery to my human mind, I believe Proverbs 21:1 (NLT). “The Lord can control a king’s mind as he controls a river; he can direct it as he pleases.” So. for our president I’m asking that he continually be directed to a relationship with You that is intimate and unshaken. I pray that You gift him with an integrity in his leadership skills, so much so that it can only be said that he leads with a deep and abiding godly wisdom that is unfathomably explained to the human mind except to say, “This is of The Lord.” I pray also for Your protecting hand to envelop him and his family. Above all else, I pray that You, Father God, are glorified in each and every decision that is made.
Lord you are in charge of this election – you already know the outcome…You change the times and seasons; You remove kings and raise them up, You give wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding (Dan 2:21)…I pray these things for our nations leaders today. In Your Precious and Holy name Amen
Father, David cried out to you in Psalm 27:13 “I remain confident that I will see the Lord’s goodness in the land of the living.” And so I too cry out, and remain confident that I shall see the GOODness of you Lord in the land of the free and the home of the brave.
Dear Daddy God, I pray that you send your Holy Spirit to enfold our new President in Your presence and to draw him into sweet intimacy with You. I pray that you send your holy angels to encamp about him and his family to protect them from harm and the fiery darts of satan. I pray that You put in his heart a passion and desire to be a servant to this nation and fill him with the godly wisdom to accomplish Your will. Father, surround him with advisors who are full of wisdom, faith and the Holy Spirit. In Jesus name Amen.

We pray that our President would trust in you Lord and do good; that he would dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture, that he would delight himself and you and would be given the desires of your heart. Our Heavenly Father, we THANK YOU that your ears are not far from your children’s voice! (Ps.4:1,5:1-3,20:1-9)Thank you Father, that when you were going to destroy Sodom & Gommorah, and you counsled back & forth with Abraham, who said God if there is 10 righteous, will you not destroy Sodom & Gommorah,and you replied, I will not. Omnipotent God, we do not know who will be our next President, but LORD, you do, and you are not shaken by knowing, we THANK YOU, that whatever helps in futhering the Gospel, will be what you allow!! And Abba, I just pray that you strengthen each and everyone of us, to grow more in our FAITH in you, no matter, who becomes President, for Lord we know who is KING! Therefore, we PRAISE YOU, and WE LOVE YOU ALMIGHTY FATHER
My Sovreign Strong Lord,
My prayer lifted up to You is for the President of the United States. I pray that he looks to You first in all he does and in all he says. May he lead us as an example of humilty. Please guide him, through Your will, to lead us, to show those of us who have to help those of those who do not, to Your glory. I pray that he seeks Your wisdom and not the wisdom of the world. Mostly Father, I pray he seeks and receives Your peace. That which can only come through faith in Christ.
I ask all of this in the Mighty Name of Jesus! Amen!

That he would not be frightened and not dismayed, and that our president would KNOW The Lord our God is with him wherever he goes.

By Your Spirit please help him to lead with love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self control. I pray with a humble heart for our President. I pray he be a man who loves your law bringing him peace and causing him not to stumble. I pray whatever he does in word and deed he will do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus. Lord teach him your way that he may walk in your truth and give him an undivided heart. I pray that out of your glorious riches You strengthen him with power through Your Spirit in his inner being so that Christ may dwell in his heart through faith. Lord instruct him and teach him in the way which he should go. Guide him with your eyes. Even in the night instruct him. For you Lord give wisdom and knowledge-oh that this President may fear you! I pray for the man who will lead this wonderful country of ours! I pray for his physical health, and mental stabiltiy while in office. I also lift up his wife, I pray you comfort her in time of need. That she can turn to you for guidance in her walk with you, and that the world will see who you are through her words and actions!

You are holy and sovereign. We are grateful that you hear our petitions. Father, remind us today that Your sovereign purpose will be fulfilled through whomever this nation elects as president. Just as your glory and fame was known during Pharoah’s rule, let it be known in our country throughout the next four years. (Ex. 9:16) You set leaders in position and control the course of world events (Dan. 2:21), so we will trust your plan and providence. Give our next president the wisdom and knowledge to govern well. (1 Chron. 1:10)

Dear Heavenly Father we come with bent knees and burndened hearts as we prepare to elect our new President and Vice-President. May they be men of integrity and honor. May they love you and seek your face first each morning. Search them and know their hearts. May our next president be filled with your spirit and lead with truth that upholds your standards of your word. For your word is living and active. May our president and vice president not turn to other things that are not pleasing in your sight. We pray that there will be no other idols before them.
May our new elected officials be someone who trusts in you. May they delight in you so that they will have the heart of your desires.
May our new president be a man of faith who leads while earnestnesly seeking you. May he be a man whose name is written in the book of life.
May our president lead our military with dignity and honor as as a commander in chief. May He know that you are the great and almighty commander.
May each one in his family come to know you as their personal Savior. May his family be a light of beacon in this world of darkness….Abba Father, we pray that our new elected officials will uphold the values of one as in the marriage union between one husband and one wife. We pray that they uphold the value of life that you place in the womb.

Heavenly Father, thank you for new starts and for new mercies every morning. I pray this Election Day for the man who you have chosen to run this great nation. I pray for his faith that it would be real and authentic faith in Jesus as the truth and the light. I pray for your wisdom for him, that he would ask for it with certainty that you are gracious to give wisdom. I pray that this man would fight the good fight and learn to protect his faith while keeping a good conscious and not reject these- and in doing so will not shipwreck his faith or the country you are trusting him with. Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisable, the only God, be honor and glory for ever and ever. (1tim 17-19)
