Hey, my dear loved ones!
I believe God has placed something on my heart for us to do here in our community for the next several vital days on our nation’s calendar. It will take place in two parts.
Part One: Today and for the next twenty-four hours in comments to this post, those who are willing are going to comprise prayers drawn from Scripture for our new president and the nation he will lead. These Scriptures incorporated into prayers don’t have to be limited to the ones we’re most accustomed to seeing for leaders. By all means, look at those but also consider a Bible-full of precepts that speak to character and integrity and the many qualities that comprise a great leader. See how the Holy Spirit might lay them on your heart and turn them into intercession. Also consider Scriptures that speak to issues like protection from harm for our president and for our nation and wholeness of heart.
If you need a launching point for your thoughts, think about how you’d want people to pray for your husband if he were elected president tomorrow. Go from there. Make it any length from a few sentences to a meaty paragraph but not long. Remember what Jesus said about those wanting to be heard for their many words in prayer. Keep it succinct and sincere. This is really important and you’ll see the reasons why during Part Two. The comments to this post will be limited entirely to prayers. Please add no other words or comments or even greetings or replies to one another on this one. Let’s just do the thing that really makes the difference. Refrain from signing your name to the bottom of it because you’re going to see in Part Two that others will be using it. Just sign off with an “Amen” or similar benediction but do indeed list any references for the verses your prayers were based on.
The most important discipline of this process is writing our prayers before we know who our president will be. Needless to say, other petitions specific to the man who is elected will be vital throughout his presidency but for this public format and for this 24-hour period of time, we’re going to write our prayers without knowing who it will be. I think (and hope!) we will find this approach very effective and helpful in our focus and prayer-direction throughout Part Two. Oftentimes, heightened emotion and opinion cloud focus, clarity, and wisdom in our prayer lives, especially with so much at stake. It’s hard to pray according to the Holy Spirit when our flesh is inflamed. Remember at the end of all of this, our God is sovereign and at no time does He lose control.
Your prayer will need to take this basic skeletal form:
Address God the way you feel led (Dear Father in Heaven or Creator of Heaven and Earth or Sovereign Lord, etc.)
Write the petition for our new president and for our nation.
Conclude it “In Jesus’ Name, Amen” or with something of similar intent and assigned authority.
List all Scripture references that your prayers were drawn from or based on. (Just the locations. You do not need to write them all the way out.)
Part Two: 24-hours or so after this post opens for comment, it will be closed. In other words, by mid-morning Tuesday, November 6th (Election Day) there will be no further way to leave additional comments but you will have full access to all of those already written. (Comments that come in after work hours this evening will all be posted before the 24-hour closure so don’t worry. If you write a prayer before the 24 hours is up, it will get posted when Lindsee is able to complete all moderations. It takes a while.)
After the election results are in, here’s what I’m suggesting. This is the time we get to reap the harvest sown in Part One. Come back to this post and start voicing a number of these prayers that resonate most with you. More importantly perhaps, consider voicing the ones that may be harder for you but you know they are godly, sound, and Scriptural. If you’re less sure about some of them, look up the Scripture references the intercessor listed and see if the context gives you any insight or direction. You can use this as a resource for your prayers not only in this 48-hour period but in days to come. Consider praying several of them per day until you work your way through them. That’s what I’m going to shoot for. I’m hoping to print them out and stick them in my prayer journal and voice several at a time over the weeks to come until I’ve agreed in prayer with practically all of them.
I’m not remotely suggesting this is the only way to pray for the next few days and in the weeks to come. It’s just one way but I really do believe this is the approach God placed upon my heart for our blog community. I’m looking so forward to harvesting some of this fruit in the coming days and there is no doubt in my mind that it will help direct my petitions and cause me to intercede for things I would have overlooked. I am continually inspired in my prayer life by the powerful prayers of others. Aren’t you? Let’s do this, Sisters. I think blessing awaits us and, far more importantly, awaits our new president.
I love you so dearly, ladies. My word, we’ve been around long enough to spend our second election together. I pray with all my heart that God will be pleased with this community and will use it to encourage and edify the Body of Christ in a way only He can empower or explain. He is so worthy of our trust and He is well able and willing to respond to earnest prayers that align with His will and come to Him through the glorious, saving Name of His Son.
Before I sign off, all three Moore-Jones-Fitzpatrick girls could use your prayers! We are all headed to the other side of the world and to two different locations. Later today Melissa and I will board a plane for Greece for a dual-purpose trip over the next 7 days. (Voted early) As guests of Nick and Christine Caine, we will have the privilege of seeing some of the work of the A21 Campaign (Abolishing Injustice in the 21st Century) from a much closer angle and attend (and serve at) a conference there. I love nothing better than seeing what God is doing around this globe. God is using this time on the Kingdom calendar to expose horrendous injustices – particularly in the areas of human trafficking – that need to be fought by the Body of Christ. (See Isaiah 58!)
Melissa and I are also beginning a new Bible study journey together and, with the help of a guide, will be doing research in some very strategic places involved in the series. You will not waste a prayer on us! Pray for God to show us great and mighty things that we do not know (Jeremiah 33:3) and bless us with powerful encounters and insights and help us to serve people effectively and affectionately there amid such cultural differences. We are certain they will be a blessing of God to us but we want so much to also be a blessing of God to them. THEN, Amanda follows right behind us two days later (on Wednesday) heading to India for a very important mission trip with the organization “As Our Own.” Even in our very different destinations, all three of us will be serving in areas where human trafficking is appallingly prevalent and believers are being mobilized slowly but surely to cry out and labor for its end.

Thank you for the amazing blessing of voting and of openly praying for our leader. We ask that you would draw our next President to yourself and that you would work into his life a hunger and thirst for righteousness as he turns his eyes toward you. We ask that you would give him an understanding of the true source of wisdom and a recognition of your sovereignty over this nation. Please comfort him by your presence on difficult days. I pray our President, along with us Your people, would continually pray and confess our sins that we have committed against You. Help our President and us to understand that we have acted corruptly against You and have not kept Your commandments, statutes, and rules that you have commanded. I pray for the next man who leads this great nation to know that you neither slumber nor sleep so that whenever he needs to talk to you, he can. May he knnow that those who trust in You, will be shielded and helped by You. They also will be blessed by You. (Ps 115:11-12)

Father, I pray for our next President to be appointed and annointed by You. I pray for wisdom for him that comes only from You. I pray he seeks Your wisdom and he not only listens to your Word, but does what it says. I pray that He seeks You first in every decision. In the name of Jesus, your precious son, and my Savior. Heavenly Father,
YOu are an almighty God and you are in control. I praise your Holy name. You are wise and you have all power. You change the seasons, you are in control of the winds and the waves and every single part of this earth. You put presidents in place and you also remove them when the time has come. I pray for wisdom for our next president. May he be wise and may he seek his wisdom from you. May he be discerning and full of the knowledge that you give him. Father, let him be full of the wisdom that only comes from You. May he be upright, truthful and honest. May he fear you. May he praise your name. Hallelujah. Please let all of us put on the full armor of God as we place our votes for president tomorrow. May the person selected stand firm with the belt of truth buckled around his waist. May he have the breastplate of righteousness secured around his chest so that’s he may lead our nation with truth and righteousness. Let him take up up the shield of faith to block the flaming arrows of the evil one. Pray that he uses the helmet of salvation and the sword of the spirit from your Word so that he may govern our country with mercy, peace and love that only comes from You. Precious Papa,
You are a most generous and gracious Father, in Whom and from Whom, all blessings flow. We know that You are in control and that it is YOU that sets up kings and their kingdoms, and it is You that takes them down. What comes about Election Day is what we deserves and if we are distressed by the one who wins, we must ask ourselves why. But we must also lift up our President because we know You are in control and what happens is for Your Glory, not ours.
I pray God’s Peace for Our President. I pray protection for his family and his loved ones and I ask that you would give him great wisdom from You directly. I also ask that You would grant those he governs that same peace and wisdom in the country and that you would spurn each and every one of us through the Holy Spirit to seek You and Your Glory. May Our President evermore be a godly man and seek Your Righteousness.
Father, make the transition easy and cooperative. Turn DC into the God fearing, and seeking of the Son, that it should be. Grant us the ability to make our country line up with Your Word for Your Glory.
Thank you Father, for hearing and answering my prayer. I look expectantly upon Your answers and I thank you for being there for me to approach.

Dear Sovereign God, Creator of Heaven and Earth,
I humbly pray to you for our nation and for our president. I pray the election will be conducted in an orderly, honest manner. I pray for accuracy in the counting of the ballots.
May your Sovereign Will bless the leaders of our nation. I pray that our President will acknowledge your authority over him. May the president prayerfully seek your wisdom to make authentic, God-centered decisions for leading and for protecting our nation. May the president make wise choices in selecting his cabinet and advisers.
Thank you, Dear Lord, for your grace today. Thank you for You only son, Jesus, who has given all believers the opportunity for eternal life.

My first cry is to save our President. I know only You know the heart, but evidence shows neither of the two major candidates know You as Saviour. 1 Timothy 2:2-3 tell us to pray for kings and that You desire “all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of truth.” Oh, how our country needs leaders who follow and serve You. God, there are too many references to list here, but Your Word is full of stories that tell us You humbled Your people by causing them to have leaders who persecuted them or led them into bondage. HAVE MERCY ON US, GOD!!! We don’t deserve Your mercy, but we ask for it anyway. I pray that you cause our President to be like King Josiah in 2 Kings 22-23 who found “The Book of the Law” that had been so long forgotten and renewed covenant with You. Open his eyes anew of for the first time to Your Book and to lead our nation in destroying our “idols” and reviving our hearts. And I pray that either man who comes in leadership will “be wise”and “be warned” and “kiss the Son lest he be angry” and find that “blessed are all who take refuge” in You. (Psalm 2) I know Your plans will not be thwarted regardless of the outcome of tomorrow. You will protect us who love You. And You WILL bring glory to Yourself so all will know You are God, no matter who is “Pharaoh” (Exodus 14:4), but we pray You will soften the heart of our leader and not harden it as You did Pharaoh’s in the day of Moses. And may we never be comfortable in our “Egypt”. May we always be salt and light to this dark world.
Father, I trust You. Thank You for hearing this prayer. And, Father, I can’t help but think how the demons are trembling and the how the gates of hell are shaking as we women of You cry out to You from all over this nation and the world. We need You and can’t make it one more second, much less through this election, without You. Guide our votes and give us wisdom. I ask all these things in the awesome and mighty Name of Your Son Jesus,

Father, you know my heart and that I think that the saddest and perhaps the most tragic words in scripture are Depart from me I never knew you. Father, you know who I voted for and why – and this is my prayer- may the person be elected whom YOU would have elected and whose presence as President will lead more souls to the saving grace of Jesus Christ. Thanking you LORD for your faithfulness and remembering that your ways are not our ways and eternally thankful that You are still on the throne. May You be glorified. Right now I want to lift up our President, whoever he is, for the next four years. He has a tremendously stressful and important job. I cant even imagine what all he and his family will go through in order to bring strong and wise leadership to our country. Lord, you tell us that you will never leave us nor forsake us as your children. As a child of God, I claim that promise and rest in the knowledge of always having your presence, protection and blessing. Father, I ask that your hand of protection and blessing be so VERY VERY apparent upon our President and his family, that the whole world will marvel at YOUR POWER. I pray that our President and those that govern with him be your vessels of wisdom, peace and power. I pray that The United States of America brings honor to you, God, not to ourselves as a nation, but to You, Father. We also know there are evil and corrupt people, and powers of satan, that would bring harm to our President and our country. We pray for your hedge of protection to be secured around our nation, around our leaders. I pray He would spiritually lead his family to you, and that together his family would know, love and worship you alone. It is difficult to find the right words for what is on my heart. I ask you Lord to pour out Your Holy Spirit on this country that speaks of freedom. Father, please fall on our newly elected President. Your man. Your choice. For Freedom, for your Glory!
Oh Lord, we learn from You how to live and what to live for. Father, give Your wisdom to this man that he would lead this country in humility, and meekness; a strength under Your control.

Gracious and merciful God, I thank you for our President, the man You have chosen for such a time as this (Esther 4:14). Father, give our President the mind of Christ (1 Cor. 2:16); bless him with wisdom and knowledge, that he may lead the people of this country and govern this great nation (2 Chron. 1:10). May he listen to Your instruction, pay attention to You and gain understanding as he lays hold of Your words with all his heart (Prov. 4:1, 4). May He hunger and thirst for righteousness (Matt. 5:6) and be a man who faithfully prays for the peace of Jerusalem (Psalm 122:6); a man who acts justly, loves mercy, and walks humbly with You, Lord (Micah 6:8).
Father, woo this man to seek You and find You when he seeks You with all his heart (Jer. 29:13). Encourage him by Your grace, Father, to lean not on his own understanding, but in all his ways to acknowledge You and You will make his paths straight (Prov. 3:5-6). Keep a hedge of protection around him, his family and administrationand and guard him from the enemy’s deception (Eph. 6). And may he find the joy of the Lord God Almighty to be his daily strength (Neh. 8:10).

Dear Heavenly Father, we lift up to you the next president of the United States of America.We pray that he will keep safe, the most innocent of our people… the unborn. We pray that his eyes would be open to these precious little ones who are being fearfully and wonderfully made in the secret place!(the mother’s womb)We pray that he would put in place, laws that will protect the unborn at all costs. We also pray for the leaders that will work with him on these laws… that they will also have their eyes open to the unborn.For YOU say in your Word, “that my frame was not hidden from you, when I was made in secret and skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. Holy supreme God
thou art God alone, there is none other like you- you are faithful from generation to generation. Father, this generation of American believers plead for your hand of mercy and love on the upcoming president and the men that surround him. Father, your children know you have a plan for peace and not disaster, plans to give us a future filled with hope.
May your re-known go throughout this nation and your glory be known in this year to come.
Oh Father – YOU are High and Lifted up – YOU reign and rule over the affairs of mankind – YOU raise up one and cast down another – YOU establish rulers and YOU overthrow them and YOU are the Sovereign Ruler over all the universe! We exalt YOU and honor YOU – YOU ALONE are God! Praise YOUR holy Name!
When I look at You and what Your Word says about You – I often ask:
Father – ?: WHAT do I know of holy?? WHAT do I know of holy?? For Holy Holy Holy is our LORD God Almighty! I/We humble ourselves before You! We have sinned against You – we have tolerated sin in our nation, in our churches, in our homes, in our lives! Father – it is Your mercy & Your kindness that leads us to repentance – we are in such need of repentance as Your church in America! Please renew Your work – the work of Your Spirit in our day – a work of repentance for Your church in America – a work that can be heard throughout the world – lead us to repent and grant us mercy that leads us to that repentance! Soften our hardened hearts – give us ears to hear and eyes to see wondrous Truths from Your Word that will change us and make us new! Create in us clean hearts Oh God & renew a right spirit within us!
We ask for miracles – for You to renew your works in our day and in our time You would make them known – miracles of repentance throughout our nation – miracles of repentant leadership on a national, state and local level – miracles that cast down the strongholds that paralyze our nation in unbelief and bondage! Miracles of godly leadership on a national, state & local level. Please grant us miracles in this election!
Oh Father – we thank YOU so much for this nation that You allowed to be raised up – we thank You for ALL that YOU have provided for us in this land! You have been amazing to us – YOU have blessed beyond imagination – Thank You!

Let his faith in You lead him daily as he makes decisions on our behalf. Help us obey our leaders submit to their authority. Father, I bring our next president in the throne room og grace. I ask that he will do nothing out of selfish ambition (Phil 2:3), and that he will abound in all knowledge and discernment, approving the things that are excellent in the Lord, Jesus Christ. Fill him with the fruits of righteousness. (Phil 1:9-11). Cause him to seek Your face daily. May he rule with righteousness and wisdom. Amen!
Dear Lord, Forgive us as we have pushed for our own desires over your will for us. Help us seek His will, wisdom, and voice. Help the next president be guided by our Lord Jesus Christ. We need a man who puts his trust and guidance in the Lord. Remove the blindness from our eyes so we make that choice with clear eyes. Lastly, let all develope a relationship with you Lord and rely on You to guide our every step.
Dear Lord my father Almighty tonight I lift up in prayer my great country. We have fallen into our world of sin idolatry and lost her values. Hebrews 11:6 says without faith it is impossible to please him for he that cometh to God must believe that He is and that He rewards those who diligently seek him. May our leader lead us by a faith instilled by you oh Lord. May our leader teacher to be prepared for we know your day is coming you the leader above all. Mighty God, in humble repentance I intercede for this nation and our President. Bring into this high position of authority the man You have called. Protect every vote. Let nothing but Your will be accomplished as we come together as a nation to elect our next President, Your man for the task of leading us through this dark time in our history. Let Your Hand be upon us, Lord.

Holy God, defeat every enemy who comes against my President, my America, my home, my church. Lord, may we keep rebuilding the wall with a tool in one hand and a weapon in the other…just like Nehemiah. Many will come against us, Lord, but our mission is to rebuild this land.
Keep our eyes on You, Lord, and not on distractions and wicked attempts to keep us from the call You have on us. I thank You for all those who continue to spread the gospel, reaching out to every tribe and tongue, presenting the gospel. Thank You for the freedom we have here in America to do missions. Keep our hands free to follow You. Let our President strengthen the freedoms of this nation to serve You. To speak out our faith. To follow Jesus where He leads. Don’t allow anyone to bind our faith.

Heavenly Father, I come before you thanking you for your blessings, grace & mercy. As the clock ticks closer to the most important election in our country, I beseech your grace, mercy, guidance & covering for the USA. What we must hold foremost is your Kingdom agenda & not that of any political party. O God, fill us with the character that shows your image in us so that whomever leads our country, he will walk with you! You are all power! Dear Father God–
I pray that the president you have for us will “repent,then, and turn to God, so that his sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord.” (Acts 3:19) I pray that he will realize that “salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.” (Acts 4:12) I ask that our president would “seek first Your kingdom and Your righteousness” in all things. (Matthew 6:33) And may your church “not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present our requests to God. I am praying for our nation tonight and for the newly elected President of our country. Lord, may he “tune his ears to your voice”and “keep your message in plain view at all times”. We are desperate for a revival, Father, in this land and call upon You to hear our pleas. You, alone, are God. You alone know who will be our leader. Thank you for raising up this man who will lead this nation. May this new President come to know You in a very real, personal way. May he seek You in every decision he makes. Please put a hedge of protection around him, his advisors, and the people he serves. Keep him humble and always looking up. Our President has harsh hands and dim eyes to Your presence, but we are at fault. Grant a spiritual awakening to him. If another is elected, he needs Your blessings for courage. I pray for that president, that he will be an example to the nation of loving and serving others. I pray that he will daily submit to you and choose to walk in your Spirit. Oh Holy and Righteous Father, In view of your great mercy to us, I pray that our president would offer his body to you each and every day as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to you Lord. Father God, we acknowledge that no one rules without your permission. You set up rulers and You topple them. You put leaders in place for such a time as this.
We pray that our president, whoever he might be, will have a love that abounds more and more–love for You, love for his family, love for his country, and love for mercy and justice. May this love be full of knowledge and wise insight, understanding, and perfect judgment. May our leader be able to discern what is best for our country. May he prize what is excellent and of real value, and may he live a sincere, blameless, untainted life of true goodness.
Your word says that eventually everyone will bend his knee to Jesus Christ and acknowledge that He is Lord; I pray that our president will do this now, that he will heed the Holy Spirit’s call, laying aside every vestige of pride to confess that Jesus Christ is indeed Lord, to Your everlasting honor and glory.

Lord God,
Be glorified… be glorified in our elections and in all the prayers lifted to you in these days. We come into your gates with thanksgiving and into your courts with praise; we give thanks to you and praise YOUR NAME because you are good – your love is eternal and your faithfulness endures to all generations. (Psalm 100:4,5) Lord, you know the generations impacted by this particular election. We, your daughters, come before you knowing that only in YOU will our hearts and the hearts of our children’s children find peace. (Colossians 3:15) We intercede now for the man you allow to become our President. Father, build him up to lead with diligence and humility. Whenever he turns to the right or the left, may his ears hear this command behind him, “this is the way – walk in it.” (Isaiah 30:21) Oh, Lord, give him ears to hear and eyes to see the leading of Jesus and a heart to obey with joy. We pray, also, Lord that you protect his marraige and family. That no weapon formed against his marraige or family will prosper. (Isaiah 54:7) Help us to pray diligently for him and all our elected leaders. Father God, please give our president a heart that seeks to please you and not man and give us a government that fears the Lord and hates evil. (Acts 5:29, Prov 8:13). Finally, merciful Lord, as election results are shared across this nation, be the Lord of our Peace – make us one and break down the barrier of all dividing walls of hostility. (Ephesians 2:14) May every citizen put his/her trust in you and only you, Lord. We need you so, Lord Jesus. Please bless these officials and our beloved country to your great glory. Oh Dear Lord,
Heal this land. Forgive us, your people, your creation. I pray for an abundance of faith for your people. That we can still believe YOU ARE GOD and only you appoint governors. I pray for your appointed man. Give him the wisdom to bring this nation together. To lead us as YOU would have him lead. Bring to his remeberance who YOU are. Draw him near to you that he may know without a doubt that YOU have placed him in authority because of your grace and mercy. Bless him! Bless his wife! LORD God who sits in the heavens with this earth as Your footstool. We bow our hearts before you and rest in Your Sovereign choice for the President of the USA. Trusting You for your plan and purposes for our nation and its leader. We ask and believe that your Holy Spirit draw our President into a genuine personal relationship with YOURSELF. That you will put “godly” men around him, to keep him encouraged, accountable, and dependent on You for all decisions. May the integrity of the upright guide him. And may his mind be free from any delusions that Your Word speaks of, in the last days. Lord you search for people who will make a difference. May he dare not dissolve into the background or blend into the neutral scenery of the world. Let him walk in the confidence of You, boldly standing for Your principles and not wavering. Be his strength in times of adversity, and comfort when trouble is on the horizon . If he be discouraged and weary “lift him up” always sensing Your Presence as he learns to trust in You.
May he be strong and brave and do the work You have called him to do…not being afraid or discouraged, because The LORD GOD, our GOD is with him…You will not fail him or leave him” 1 Chron 28:20

Please be with the election and let your will be done in America. Lord, we need you so much no matter whose in office. God, we pray for the next president that he will be a man after your own heart like David was. Help them to lead In a way that honor and glorifies you. Help the decisions that he makes to be righteous ones. Please be with our country and help us to keep you at the center of it.
