iPhone Dump: In Honor of Steve Jobs

By now you know that all of the world is buzzing about the death of Steve Jobs. Every unique quote has already been said about him on twitter, blogs, articles, or facebook so I have nothing new to say, but I am grieving the fact that we lost a very brilliant man who changed the way we use technology. Not only did he change it, but I bet he has made his way into each of our lives in some way, shape or form. Currently I’m writing this from my MacBook Pro, with my iPhone perched on top of my Bible and iTunes is open just waiting to be played. I’d say he’s most definitely invaded my personal space. He was genius and I am honored that I get to use his products daily.

Truth be told, I was the girl that always bashed the iPhone until I gave into peer pressure two years ago and purchased my first 3GS iPhone, since then, I am the girl that’s trying to convert everyone else. It wasn’t until this past May that I actually purchased my first MacBook Pro after my computer saw its final days, so I can’t say much, but it goes without saying that now that I’ve gone Mac, I’m not going back. I love it.

About a year ago, however, I started doing a series of iPhone dumps on my own personal blog and I think it’s only appropriate to visit that series once again in honor of Steve Jobs. After all, without his brilliance, there would be no iPhone dump. I have a serious problem when it comes to the camera on my iPhone and I’m not exaggerating or lying one bit when I tell you there are currently 1,857 photos and 62 videos on my iPhone. It’s sick. But if you’re like me, the convenience of that camera is what makes it so popular. And need I even mention all of the really fun camera apps? All of the apps can take an ordinary photo, and make it look nearly professional in two seconds flat.

Without further ado, please bear with me as I share some very random photos off of my iPhone thanks to Steve Jobs.

I recently celebrated a friends birthday at Dave & Busters. Simply stated, it is a Chuck E. Cheese for adults. After eating, there is a fun arcade with games that you win tickets for. Typically, I wouldn’t care less about the number of tickets I had, but when I realized there was a chance we could take home a coffee maker, I was all about it. Thanks to our friends and their tickets, the roomies and I took home this gem. So cheap, but it produces some mighty fine tasting coffee. We have no idea how long it will last, but it’s a fun memory. I think I was the only one overly ecstatic about the coffee maker, so much so, I needed my picture made with it.

This picture was taken from my balcony at my apartment a few weeks ago when the fires were raging. Y’all, those aren’t clouds you’re seeing, that is smoke. Beautiful, yes, but so sad. This picture was edited using Instagram, a really fun photo app.

This here is as big as you’ll ever see my hair. I was ten here and this was one of my glamour shots. My mom sent this to me one morning with a caption that said, “I bet Beth would LOVE to see your BIG HAIR at age ten!” Ha ha! I, however, think this is quite the scandelous picture. I was ten, y’all. Ten.

My roommate Michaela (on the left) is a high school art and photography teacher and a few weeks ago we went to the homecoming football game with her. My other roommate, Bethany, is on the right. We had so much fun soaking up some Friday Night Lights! (Because I know I’ll get asked, I used the app “Diptic” to split the photos and then used “Instagram” to edit it. See ladies? Isn’t the iPhone camera so fun?)

The other night I had the urge to bake my mom’s famous banana bread. If you’re an expert baker like I am (insert sarcasm), you know that the trick to finding out if your said item is baked thoroughly, is to poke a toothpick in the middle and if it comes out clean, all is done and well. Obviously, I needed only one toothpick, but ended up with 50. It was a toothpick disaster. This right here is proof why I don’t spend a lot of time in the kitchen. When in a battle, the kitchen typically wins.

While at Hobby Lobby the other day I kept singing, “It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas..,”. Hmm, I wonder why?!

That same day, I purchased and took this lovely mug home with me from Hobby Lobby. You can thank the clearance rack for said purchase. Isn’t it so cute?

Kelly Minter recently sent Beth some coffee. Beth so graciously made some and shared it with us at work one day. It did not disappoint.

Here are a few of us enjoying said coffee. From left to right you have Diane, Susan, your Siesta Mama, Kimberly and me.

This was on our way to lunch one day. Me, Beth and Diane were crammed in the back of the car. I am sure you can tell that we were already moving based on the blurriness of the picture.

A few Saturday’s ago I had a hankering for some Chick-Fil-A. It had been at least two weeks since I’d indulged in the blessing of it, so I drove myself over to the nearest Chick-Fil-A. My feelings were immediately hurt upon arrival. How dare they shut down for 19 days? I was so, so sad. No worries, though, I kept the car moving and drove to a different CFA. A girls gotta do what a girls gotta do.

I’m not sure if any of you have ever heard of the restaurant in NYC called Serendipity. They are not only known for the movie named after them, Serendipity, but also for their frozen hot chocolate. This summer I got to experience the goodness of it all while I was in NYC. Y’all, it was the best dessert I’ve ever put in my mouth. Fortunately, for us, you can take it home with you. Well, not the frozen part, but the mix. The other night we busted out the mix and relived every moment all over again. It may not be as good as sipping it in NY with your best buddies, but it will do. A little known fact you may want to know is that it can now be purchased at your local Williams Sonoma.

I was at Costco the other day and had to take a picture of these ginormous dates. Why, you ask? Because they look like roaches. Who would willingly eat these? Ew.

This past Friday night I was able to attend the David Crowder concert with some friends at the House of Blues here in Houston. This is their last tour as a band, so it was really neat to be there. Touring with them was John Mark McMillan (who wrote the song, How He Loves), Chris August and Gungor. It was a great night and a great concert.

The other day at lunch we were talking about fish and I was telling my co-workers about this fabulous salmon from Costco, of all places. Later that week I purchased some and sent a picture to my boss who was curious. If you’re a fish lover (which I’ve just recently become), you may want to check it out as well. You just stick it in the oven for 20 minutes and you’re good to go. Enjoy!

We here at LPM enjoy a good piece of Dove Chocolates. The best part, however, is the inspirational quotes you find inside each wrapper. This was my quote yesterday. It made me sad because I would most certainly take the time to notice the colors of the leaves changing if in fact I didn’t live in Houston. Here, we’re lucky if they change by March. It’s very unfortunate.

This is my sweet family. We all happened to be in one place at one time. We were at a dear friends wedding. I have two brothers, Brien and Kevyn, one older and younger. And those are my parents, Sam and Kristy. I dearly love these peeps.

Last night my roommate Bethany and I decided to go on a bike ride. The entire evening ended up being comical, but we at least enjoyed being outside preparing to go on our ride that lasted all of eight minutes. So why the picture? Because we believe in safety first.

Thank you, Steve Jobs, for sharing your gifts and creative talents with the world. I clearly am blessed by them as the iPhone has brought me endless entertainment.

Happy Thursday, y’all!

Tanya, I have to say, the village has made it very easy for me to feel like I’ve been here longer than just a month. It’s a huge blessing for sure! I hope you have a great weekend.

Thank you Lindsee, for the beautiful tribute to Steve Jobs.

He was adopted and never finished college, I heard on a radio program yesterday. God just down-loaded some extra special apps into that precious man. A caligraphy class taken after high school gave him the idea later for beautiful fonts for us to use. A perfectionist who could be difficult to work with, the program said, but with a passion to make something difficult easy for the average person.

Thank you Steve. You are missed.

Girl, you just made my day!! We always have Dove’s at our Thursday night Bible Study and I myself had some insightful tid-bits with last night’s wrapper(s?!) Bible Study & Dove’s … sometimes you just need that “double” pick me up, ya know what I’m sayin?? Plus, I absolutely love the mug – I’m BIG into personalizing my coffee mug to fit my mood or style! I especially love that it was on clearance … I’m all about getting something for close to nothing!

When I take my vacation in January to come to the SSMT … I might just have to come on the Monday before and hang with y’all all week long! You’re such fun!! I do a lot of event planning at my home church so I’m sure I’d be more help than hinderance with the big event – promise!! LOL!!

Thanks again for brightening my day … you ladies have a fantastic weekend!!

Luv to you, my LPM sisters!!

    Lindsee,
I laughed out loud at your date comments, they DO look like roaches, I’d never thought of them like that before.

Just this week my neighbor(she’s really over a mile away) brought us some date bars and peanut butter bars for rescuing her “Houdini dog”, he’s constantly escaping and running around in the woods (we live in the country), every time we find Buddy we bring him home. He’s an adorable Golden retriever.

So FYI, date bars are a great treat with coffee! A yummy dessert(although according to my husband it’s not dessert unless it’s chocolate :))

Too cute, Lindsee! I just got my first iPhone on Monday after my Blackberry took a ride on my bumper after the NC State football game this past weekend! I have loved it so far! Can’t wait to try out the apps you recommended!

Wish my 10-year old picture looked that beautiful…you have a good looking family too!… including Siesta Family!
My son went to see the David Crowder band and made lots of blurred pictures. And I relate to the Chick-fil-a picture, because I was in the mall and had my picture next to the black & white cow sign.
Well, I have to finish my coffee ladies. My hazelnut buzz is keeping me going this morning. A special thanks for the work of Steve Jobs who said_Live each day as if it was your last and I am going to add on to that…as if it was your last day to live for Jesus.

Hi Lindsee! Fun post! 🙂 It’s great getting to know you, too! By the way, our family LOVES that salmon from Costco. Another good fish find there is the tortilla crusted tilapia! Mmmm! My youngest son LOVES it. 🙂 Have a great weekend!

Lindsee…… Just wanted you to know that I have a pillow in our family room that our kitchen is connected to. The pillow simply states…..” I only have a kitchen because it came with the house!”
I dropped my iphone 3g last week and the glass on the cover shattered 🙁 Thankfully I was ready for an upgrade…..so we marched into our local Walmart yesterday and bought my New iphone 3g for $l.05 out the door!!!! I am serious! Thankful to God for bringing such a creative, genious man into the world.

Loved your tribute – and I feel like we’re getting to better know you too! You ALL make me smile and help give me the gumption to allow Jesus to make my life better. And I love your mention of the Dove inspiration – I’ll be ziplining (for the first time!) this weekend over the fall canopy of leaves in the oh, so beautiful, Hocking Hills in southern Ohio. And, yes, my iPhone will be strapped to my person for some of my own great shots! Thank you to you; thank you to Steve Jobs!

    Lindsee,
I love your pics down memory lane!!!! Some old, some new, some sorta borrowed, and nothing blue! Loved seeing the family pic! Please give your mama and daddy a hug from me! Miss my old CBC folks! Now, don’t be thinkin’ I meant old in age! I’m the same age they are! Please give Diane a shout out and hug from me, too.
Blessings on your continued journey with LPM. What a wild bunch of gals! Sure hope you have your seat belt fastened! Love, Paulette

What a super fun post. I’m an iphone basher too simply because the commercials are condescending. Just yesterday I e-mailed my Sprint guy and said I’d be willing to switch next week if he could get me a good deal. May be sucked in yet!

Steve will indeed be missed! My daughters are playing with their Ipod touches right now. Endless entertainment though!

That coffee pot? We received one as a wedding present 21 years ago. It lasted 16 years!!! It only “died” then because my husband dropped & broke the pot, and it cost more to replace the pot than to buy a whole new maker!!

In response to your photo about the “leaves changing” – just absolutely STRUCK me. Take a look at the prophetic word given me just this past week, using those “leaves changing” as an example of … Blessings to LPM!! http://izzyspeak.blogspot.com/2011/10/just-wanted-to-share-with-you-that-in.html

    Tammy Real-McKeighan says:

The Chick-fil-A founder, Truett Cathy, has quite a story. I read about it in John C. Maxwell’s book “Failing Forward: Turning Mistakes into Stepping Stones for Success.” Cathy lost two brothers in an airplane crash, had a restaurant destroyed by fire and required surgery that kept him out of action for months. Someone else might have quit. He developed what is known in the fast food industry as the chicken sandwich.

I’m so thankful for the way God uses Steve Jobs’ talent. Our church sends Ipods full of worship music and sermons to missionaries in the Middle East. I don’t know if Mr. Jobs was a believer, but God can use anyone and their gifts in His sovereign plan!

Great tribute to Steve Jobs. I sure do love my iphone & my mac, too! I just went on a photo deleting spree a few days ago. They’re all saved on my Mac, but it’s just so hard to delete them. My phone did something it had never done last Sat. and I had to restore it. (yikes – just the word scared me!!!) I have a little (almost one year old) grandson and practically all 494 photos & 222 videos (after deleting) are of him. :)It’s also so fun with the iphone that you can click on pictures & videos that are texted to you and you can save them in your pictures. Love all of your pictures Lindsee & you have a beautiful family.

  35. 85

Wow! I am going to have to learn how to use those apps someday. Never knew you could do that. I have an iPhone that’s not actually an active phone. I use it as an iPod, but it still connects to WiFi, so I can download apps!

I must say that picture of you at 10 years old, IS scandelous! I cringed when you said that, because I have a 10 year old. I am not letting her see that picture, because no doubt she would want me to fix her up like that for a picture! No stinkin way!!!! Forget it!!! Believe me, she and I already have differing opinions on what is appropriate for a 10 year old girl to wear! Although, she’s a lot better than she was a couple of years ago, mostly because she’s finally realized when it comes to inapropriate clothing mom ALWAYS wins! No means no! End of discussion! Anyway, very much enjoyed your post. Oh, and the Serendipity thing. Had no idea! And what in the world is Williams Sonoma?! Trying to get some sympathy here! Come on, girls! Seriously, never seen a chick fil a in my life. No Whataburger. No Dave and Busters. Unfortunately I have been to Chuck E. Cheese’s. Yuck! Worst pizza I’ve ever eaten in my life!!!! Oh, what did I see on Twitter the other day. Cracker Barrell. I can’t even imagine what they serve at a place with a name like that, but it must be good, because every time I hear the name, somebody’s either excited to be eating there or is raving about it!!! Anyway, here in North Idaho I guess I’ll just have to suffer for a little while longer and then at the SSMT celebration ya’ll are gonna have to show me some good food!!!!!!

    Hey Lindsee!

Goodness gracious girl, you are hilarious! Where is your blog, I need to get connected! Let me just say that I too am guilty of driving around town to get what I want, especially if it pertains to a Chick-fil-A craving … or BoJangle’s … or Starbuck’s. I drove from FL to SC last weekend, and called my husband to find out which exit ramp has a Starbuck’s close by. LOL! I get it girl! A girl’s gotta a do what a girl’s gotta do!

Blessings to you! Thank you so much for sharing :o)
