Last Day At LPM before Christmas

Hey, Darling Things! A quick, random post here. The last day of work before Christmas is always ministry-on-steroids around this place. We close to the public and work like crazy to get last minute details done. Several of us (yours truly included) will still have to put in a few days between Christmas and New Year’s but this is our last day of 2010 as a team. Characteristically at some point on the last day, all of us pitch in and help Diane and Evangeline with resources. Lots of people place last minute orders that they’re hoping will make it by Christmas Day and we try hard to accommodate. This year someone also came up with this insane idea that tagged on, oh, about 6000+ orders and in December, no less.  (Perhaps you’ve noticed that we are having to freeze new SSMT spiral orders for a few days because we’ve gone into back order for printing.) But we are so happy and the Lord is so faithful!

Christ has called us to Romans 15:13 over the last week due to some long term struggles a few of us are having.  We’ve been saying it back and forth to one another as a reminder of His blessing to us. Maybe you could use this reminder, too. Hopelessness is never of God. Never. Nothing is too difficult for Him. Nothing is beyond His reach. His restoration. Even His reconciliation. I’m going to try to write the verse by heart to you:

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

As you trust in Him.

As you trust in Him.

AS YOU TRUST IN HIM.

If we’ve got His Word on it, let’s not stop believing Him for our situations until our lack of hope transforms into an OVERFLOW of hope. Do it, Lord. I felt the victory begin the moment I started committing the verse to memory. God is so amazing.

Anyway, here are a few random pictures from the last two days. I had so many more but they won’t upload and I’m so annoyed. This is a quick pic of our staff Christmas lunch yesterday at Grand Lux by the Galleria:

This is your very own Siesta Mama stuffing envelopes with spirals. That’s my buddy of 30 years, Johnnie, to my right (she’s the one the David revision is dedicated to. That’s my buddy of 20+ years, Diane, to my left. She is one of our LPM managers and one of the people I trust most in the world:

These are some of the last minute orders waiting for our wonderful UPS man.

Gotta go! I get to babysit tonight! I’ll be in plenty of touch around here. I love you guys!

    Beth,

I so needed your words and the verse you posted. In response to an earlier post I wrote about my youngest getting sick on our way to get my oldest and the relapsing on the weekend. Well yesterday she had a seizure and had to be flow by helicopter to a hospital in the nearest big city. She is in PICU, and has been for the last two days. They knew what the problem was when she got to the hospital in the city and is now doing much better. We are hoping to be home by Christmas but they have not given us a prediction of when she will be able to go home. Please pray for her full recovery.

Thank you so much and Have a very merry christmas.

I love your sweater, so pretty! The verse is great! Can I steal it? Those envelopes look so familiar now that I have my own!!!!! Yes, I got mine yesterday! My husband walked in casually last night, and said, “Oh, yeah. These came for you today,” as he tossed an envelope from you guys as well as the Christmas letter that I get every year from my aunt Kay. I instantly recognized her letter, and sai, “Oh, thank you.” Then, I looked at the envelope wondering what it was. He laid it on the bed upside down, so I didn’t see the big sticker thing on the front that says LPM. I would have known instantly what it was if I’d have seen that! I stared at the envelope from Aunt Kay, about to open it, but I couldnn’t stand it. I tossed it back on the bed (sorry, Aunt Kay, I love you dearly! Really, I do!) and grabbed the other envelope, turned it over and of course, then went crazy (and that is definitely how my husband would describe all of us here in Siestaville!)! My husband just stared at me as I began ripping it open, but very carefully (I didn’t want to damage anything!) My husband said, “Is that your planner?” (I got one of those last year after the new year started and probably will again this year. I loved it! I’ve never been able to find one I liked before, so I thought I’d try it. It was perfect for my needs!) I said, “No!” (in great disgust! I couldn’t believe he forgot!) “It’s my Siesta Scripture Memory Team spiral!” That’s quite a mouthful, by the way! He said, “What?” I COULD NOT BELIEVE IT! Apparently, the most important things in my world are not the most important in his! I tried to explain it and he said, “I figured it had something to do with your blog thing.” Like I said, I’m pretty sure he just things we’re nuts!!! And that’s probably putting it mildly! Men just don’t get it, do they!? But, hey, he loves me anyway, and I would like to say that maybe he even likes me because of my querkiness! After your last post, Beth, I was going to say that I don’t think I’m as obsessive as you! I wasn’t obsessing about what pen I was using at least! But that was before I got my spiral! Now, I’m obsessed! I’m thinking about how many times I’m going to have to practice writing my verses before I write them on those beautiful cards! They have to be perfect before I write them in there! There is no way, I’m doing the chicken scratching I usually do in this spiral! And I’m putting them in my purse in the envelope! I’m not taking them out, except only when I need them, and I’m treating them very gingerly! No dog-eared spiral for me! It’s going to stay as beautiful as possible as long as possible! Yes, I’m a little obsessed and loving it!!!!!!

Thank you, thank you for the reminder of Romans 15:13. It is *exactly* what I needed to read at this very moment, and I thank the Lord that He brought me here to remind me. I’ve been praying it and praying it these last few days. Thank you.

  11. 161

    Dear Beth,

I’ve decided to be a part of the Scripture Memory team this year. Didn’t the last time since I had a baby. She’s 2-1/2 now, so I think I’ll be able to keep up with the commitment. God is working out some anger and forgiveness issues in my life so I have a feeling my verses this year will be focusing on that. Can’t wait to see what He does!

May you and your family have a very Merry Christmas and blessed New Year! Waiting with anticipation to see what God does in 2011.

    Love,
    Mary Lou

Please pray that the Lord will send some Christian women who love God and want to have Bible study. It is very hard not to be able to share with others or to have a friend to confide in.

Hate to have to post such tragic news right here at Christmas, but I know if anyone will pray–the Siestas will! I’m not sure that this friend of mine frequents our beloved blog, but I do know that she’s been a part of many of Beth’s Bible studies. A dear friend of mine, Brook,(homeschool mom of seven who has been a precious friend since childhood) lost her 6th child this afternoon in a tragic accident when her husband ran over their 2 year old daughter, whom he didn’t see standing in the family driveway. http://timesenterprise.com/homepage/x2018341924/Child-dies-in-horrible-accident
Sounds like a re-run of the Chapman tragedy. Total horror–and right here at Christmas! Much grief, many tears, many questions, so many broken hearts, both old and young, here in Thomasville, GA, tonight. So grateful that “surely He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows.” Please pray, siestas! Words just aren’t adequate. Thanks.

How incredible! I just can’t stop marveling at the thought of so many spirals. So many women who will be partaking in the same thing! I’ve been having the hardest time in my singleness, being extremely lonely. And the other day a siesta who’s now a facebook friend was commenting on my page, & we began talking about our spirals, & memorizing together. And going to LPL in April here. And flying out next January. And it just made me sooooooo happy. All these women doing it, too! I’m NOT all alone. It heals something in me in a unique way. Just so mind-blowing. Ah, man. I’m jazzed. So, so very jazzed.

Got my spiral in the mail today…Wahoo! Now the most serious decision…which verse to choose! What a great problem to have!

  17. 167

Ooooh, oh, oh! Beth, I had to jump on here again after I went to prayer meeting. I should have waited until after prayer meeting to comment, because I got my Christmas gift from my dear friend, Jeni (the one I wrote my letter to on our Talk To Them Tuesday we had before Thanksgiving! She got me a set of the prayer cards on Faith that you have in addition to your book, “Praying God’s Word,” the most well-worn book on my shelf at this stage of my life, besides my bible! Or should, I say, bibles, since I’m a bit of a bible geek, and am constantly getting more bibles, in every version I can get my hands on! Definite Bible Nerd, here! I seem to be having a very scripture filled and Beth Moore filled Christmas! At least, I am so far! I am definitely taking these with me to my parents house, where I always really struggle! These prayers could end up saving my life! Yay! Okay, I’m really lame and should shut up now!

    Dawn says:

I so needed to hear Him tell me…for the umpteenth time…that nothing is too difficult for Him. He keeps telling me to trust Him, that He can and will fix me, but that often seems impossible to believe. The enemy I have in myself seems far too great.

Hang in there with your study of His Word-His love letter to us. The more you hear it from Him that nothing is impossible with Him the more you will begin to see it and believe it in your life. Its awesome to see. I know because I am one of those he is fixing too. It’s a exciting process!

Perfect timing for this reminder! It has indeed be a trying year in many ways and yet so blessed in others.
Right now I believing for a miracle for my middle daughter, who is in yet another relapse in her recovery from Encephalitis. As one so young, being sidelined for so long, is so discouraging. It breaks my heart to see her struggle so.
She will love her spiral notebook – as it was scripture that she used to learn to read again when she first started recovering from the initial onset. (Which is why the trip to Houston was so memorable and taxing for her.) So thank you to you and all your selfless volunteers and staff for working so hard to get them out to us!
    Merry Christmas to you all!

    Warm in Alaska says:

I ran into a friend on the condiment aisle of my fave grocery store the other day and asked how her holiday was faring – “I’m being so much like Martha!” she bemoaned, “I’m having a Martha Christmas so far.” “Well here’s to having a Mary Christmas!” I said – and then it struck both of us and we busted out laughing. Now I can’t stop thinking about that apropos play on words. So, to my fellow Siesta Sojourners: I hope we have ourselves a Very Merry Mary Christmas!”

    Lots of love,

As I read your post, I couldn’t help but fix my eyes on that picture of you all at lunch. What a wonderful site to see God’s girls gathered together for the purpose of making much of Him and His Word! It’s amazing to see what the Lord will do with vessels who desire to be used for His honor!

I’m so thankful you are a woman who has set your face like a flint to follow the Living God and allow Him to use you to teach others His Word!

I also received my spiral! What a neat idea…. thank you for putting in all that hard work just for us Siestas! I am SOOO excited about Scripture memory team this coming year.
I wish we were starting right now, but I do have a couple of verses I’m working on in the interim… I should say that are working on me. Boy, do I need it. I had a baby in March (actually during the Insecurity study) and I sure haven’t been in the Word the way I want to or need to.

Love to everyone who serves at LPM! Merry, merry Christmas to you all!!

Thank you for sharing that verse Mama Beth! God spoke that word straight to my heart, (and then it went straight to my spiral!). 🙂

That is soo like Him. He is so glorious to set that many women’s heart’s on memorizing scripture, because we need it. Need it desperately. I think I’ve already narrowed down my first verse for the new year. Rom. 15:13 also reminds me of that verse from I don’t know where for sure that says that at one point, we were without God and without hope in the world, but now we…ok I just looked it up, it’s in Ephesians-but now in Christ Jesus we who were once far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ. Our hope:) For He Himself is our Peace. I need to hear that.

Blessings to you today, ((HUGS)), Love in Him,
