James Calling: For Just A Little While!

Greeting From Beth, October 11,2010 from LPV on Vimeo.

My Dearly Loved Siestas, please watch the video greeting when you get a chance so that I can fill you in on what to expect for the next 2 months. This written post does not take the place of the video so please be sure to watch it. This is only to reiterate what I shared with you in the video about what to expect on here while I’m away. You will still find…

*Siesta Scholarship Giveaway Tickets to events that fall within this time period.

*Living Proof Live Recaps of the events that fall within this time period. (And, yes, I will read the comments to those events just like I normally would. I will just discipline myself not to write back.)

*A possible entry here or there on special occasions or when I’m bursting to tell you something that won’t really translate into the James study.

*”Talk To Me Tuesdays” – Every Tuesday I’ll put up a post where you do all the talking. (It will begin next week.) Tell me in a concise paragraph how you are, or what God is doing, or something funny that’s happened, or what you’re learning. Although I will hold myself back from responding to them, I will be anxiously and joyfully reading as many of them as possible. In this way, I get to continue to be inspired by your journeys with God and, when I’m tempted to respond, will, instead, put that energy into writing the Bible study. This format will also help you stay in touch with one another and allow you to directly respond to each other.

We will be very busy in 2011 here in Siestaville with the return of the Siesta Scripture Memory Team! I better take this chance NOW!

I could almost cry telling you how much you mean to me and how I will miss you. STAY IN THE WORD! Pray for your Siesta Mama. And I will pray for you. We’ll all be back together before you know it.

I love you. Really.

PS. Because Twitter doesn’t really consume creative energy (grin), I will probably try to keep up with that unless it gets distracting. So far it hasn’t been. It’s fun but I don’t have the attachment to it that I have here. If you want to join us there, it’s (this is so embarrassing) @bethmooreLPM. I feel like an idiot.

I totally get the need for stepping back for a bit. The day you posted this I was thinking of you and praying that all was well since I hadn’t seen a post in a while. I’m so glad to know that you’re doing well and that you’re just deep in writing-mode. Can hardly wait for the study! Much love and prayers for God to once again pour out His wisdom on you. Every study I’ve done has changed me and my relationship with our great God.

This is completely random, but when the site pulled up, the freeze frame on the video made it look, just for a moment, like you had a huge snake wrapped around your shoulders. Upon closer examination it was the back of your chair. Thank goodness.

    Beth,
I just returned from Euless about 3 hours ago. My friend and I drove over 375 miles to be in the audience for the taping of “Wednesdays With Beth”.
We loved every minute of our time there. Your sessions were wonderful. It was obvious that His Spirit annointed you to speak His words over us.
It was great to be a part of such an enthusiastic audience!
I am praying for you and Melissa as you work diligently on the James study. I know that God will continue to give you direction and wisdom in your writing.
Thank you for blessing me at Life Today.

    Dear Siesta Mama –
I am so very grateful that you are taking a “blog fast” … how great the example for all those that follow you here. What each of us needs to do is follow what the Spirit is leading us to do, even if that means laying aside something precious for a little while … or longer. Following Jesus was never meant to be easy. It requires sacrifice and obedience. I just know that the writing process will be blessed for yours. Can’t wait to do the study… how sweet the promise of it is.

We will all be praying for you and Melissa!

God bless you, Beth, as you work on James. I cannot wait to study this “with” you. I am so blessed by your ministry I cannot begin to tell you the ways it has changed me. God has done some great things in my life, this has just kept me on track! I had never ever participated in a Bible study before your studies. My first was Daniel. I was blown away by the research and fascinating facts I just completely missed reading on my own.
Thank you for your hard work, perseverance, and probably missing a lot of every day experiences to “go into all the world” and speak to us!

    Beth & Co.,

WOW….”Moore” than 500 blessings and prayers. Too cool.
My question is, are you sure two months is enough? Seriously, your in-depth studies are amazing. I couldn’t accomplish even one in a lifetime. God continues to use you girls in a mighty way and we are all the better for it. My prayers and blessings to you all can be added to the list of many who love and adore you.

    In Jesus,

    Paula Risius says:

    Sweet Beth!

You are loved and prayed for! I hope that “James” and you have a very joyous journey. We will be blessed by the fruits of your labor. I can hardly wait for this new study. I once read that the main thing is to keep the main thing the main thing. Needless to say, Jesus is the MAIN THING in our lives, but right now your main thing will be writing. We all know that God will bless you richly as you study.

Keep the SON shining in this dark world.

    Vicki says:

This is my first visit to Siestas. I am sorry it will be down (kind of) for a couple of months, I was so excited to hear you are doing a new study on James! Will it be a 10 week study? My group is doing Believing God right now and, oh my, you are talking directly to me. I so struggle with expressing myself verbally. I have these grand things going on in my head and then I get up before the ladies and what comes out of my mouth??? Just blah, blah, blah. GOD IS WHO HE SAYS HE IS, GOD CAN DO WHAT HE SAYS HE CAN DO, I AM WHO GOD SAYS I AM AND I CAN DO ALL THING THROUGH CHRIST, GOD’S WORD IS ALIVE AND ACTIVE IN ME! I’M BELEVING GOD! (And I am wearing the blue cord bracelet) Beth, I know you hear this daily, probably 100 times a day, but our group feels as if you are truly our friend. We are planning (some of us) to see you in Fresno on April 1 & 2. I want to be on fire to learn Scripture! Thank you, Beth!! Thank you, Lord Jesus, for a woman like Beth!

      Beth says:

Hey, Vicki! Stay tuned. There will still be plenty to do around here and we’ll be back in full force before you know it. James will be a seven week study. Eight lecture sessions. I still say those 5 Statements in BG, by the way. Jesus is so worthy.

    I’m excited for James!

Finally doing Breaking Free now. My hair is being blown back but so hard right now that I have been able to settle on exactly what stronghold God wants to break.

Finally, I’m hoping that many women read this and will pray for my friend Karen. She’s a wonderful woman. She was very recently diagnosed with Stage 3 Ovarian Cancer. She is taking things will amazing grace and trust in the Lord. If you read this, ladies, would you please pray for the complete healing of my friend? God is bigger than any cancer at any stage. May His will done. Thank you!!!!

Siesta Mama, I am currently doing the Patriarchs study and with each lesson, I say a prayer for you as you are writing the James study. You have such an amazing gift – to be able to study the word of God so deeply and then communicate it with those around you – it is beyond me! I am so excited! James is one of my favorite books in the Bible! There is so much to gleam from its few chapters! May God continue to pour his spirit and annointing over you and your team, as you write, dig deep, and share.

Though we have never met, you are a dear friend to me, and I want you to know you are a blessing!

    Connie says:

    Dearest Beth,

I just tried to send you an email. Low and behold, I entered my home mail address. I am not sure it went through, but I hope it did. I hit “back” to enter correctly, and lost the email. Well…basically it said, you lead me closer to Christ, and I love you. I see His reflection in you, and nothing is more beautiful than Him. Thank you for leading me to His throne, and reminding me, when the tough times “keep” coming, to brush my knees off, look up, and thank God! You remind me to run harder and faster to His feet.
    Deep from my heart,

  36. 486

This is good. This is so good.

You know, I don’t have a full concept of the preparation/time it takes to execute a video like this from you but can I just SAY??? I cry every. single. time. In a good way. Maybe it’s because of the tender place I am right now in my heart throughout my healing process. Maybe it’s because you’re very heart is what led my heart through this process of healing from chronic insecurity from which I am still battling. Bravely and successfully. 🙂 I have recently reopened the book for another walk through. More on that later… maybe for Talk To Me Tuesdays.

Be blessed sweet Beth. Go in the mighty, inspiring, wise, and altogether sweet name of Jesus Christ who will undoubtedly breathe his insights into you and onto the pages of this Bible Study. I can’t wait to see it.

    Mary Jane says:

    Blueberry Cheesecake

    1 cup flour
    1/4 teaspoon salt
    1 stick butter or margarine
    1 cup chopped pecans

    8 oz. cream cheese
    1/2 cup sugar
2 cups Cool Whip or whipped cream

    2 cups blueberries
    1 cup sugar
    2 Tablespoons corn starch
    1 teaspoon lemon juice

Crust: Blend 1 cup flour, 1/4 teaspoon salt, 1 stick butter.
Stir in 1 cup chopped pecans. Press into 9” pie pan.
Bake at 450 for 12-15 minutes or until golden. Cool.
I have found the best way to do this: melt the margarine in a
glass pie plate in the microwave, sift the four and salt together
into the melted butter, add the chopped pecans, mix with a fork,
then press into shape in that same pie plate.
(I have a friend that doubles this recipe and bakes in a 9×13 baking pan.

Filling: Blend 8 oz. cream cheese with 1/2 cup sugar.
Fold in 2 cups of Cool Whip or whipped cream. Pour into
    cooled crust.

Topping: 2 cups blueberries, 1 cup sugar, 2 Tablespoons
corn starch. Cook –stirring – until thick remove from heat, add
1 teaspoon lemon juice. Cool and pour over pie.
Refrigerate pie until ready to serve (several hours set time required)

I make the topping first and cool in refrigerator while getting crust and filling
ready. Pie needs to be chilled to set before serving.
Refrigerate unused portion — best if covered to keep from drying out.
    (Ramage Farms, Hooks, Texas)

We have our own bushes – easiest thing to put up. Pick and put in the freeze –do not wash until taken from the freezer to use. This is really easy — beautiful –and everyone always loves it.
