Siestas Internacionales

About a month ago I was playing around with the web site that tracks statistics for our blog. It’s fun to look at even though I hardly understand what any of it means. That day I clicked on something called “Map Overlay” and proceeded to be sucked in by a map of the whole world. When I moved my cursor over a country, it showed me how many visits our blog had had from that country in a certain number of days. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. The Siestas are literally all over the world. Even in countries I’ve never heard of! Praise our God! I called my mom and we discussed it in happy tears. For those of you who are joining us from outside of the U.S.A., know that you are dearly loved and remembered.

On that note, I want to give a couple of hints to the international Siestas who may be hoping to join our summer Bible study. (All the details of SSBS3 are here in case you missed it.)

If you are in Canada, David C. Cook is your LifeWay distributor. You can order your book from them here.

For everyone else, you can click here to see a list of LifeWay distributors by country. They may be able to help you get a copy of Kelly Minter’s Ruth workbook. I’m praying for God to work everything out for you.

Just for fun, here’s a list of the countries with the most visits this month.

1. United States (with 95% of our visits)

2. Canada

3. United Kingdom

4. Germany

5. Australia

6. South Africa

7. Japan

8. Netherlands

9. Singapore

10. Brazil

That’s what I love about the internet.
I have met quite a few people that way.
    I used to moderate a message board,and
And there were young teens apart of it, who
    Are now done with college.
its been so cool to watch them grow over the
Yrs without being in the same country.
One of the girls I actually shared “Believing God”
With and her church ended up doing
The study soon after. Btw, she was my aussie
Friend. Canada, New Zealand, Italy are also
    Other places.
My life wouldn’t be the same without
The relationships God has given me online; and
I am sure they are all God-given.

We are truly all in this together!

Glad to see Australia has ranked in the top 5. Is there a chance that Beth will be coming out here to visit us? We are very welcoming and hospitable down here not to mention that our country is absolutely breathtaking. Here’s hoping!!!! Melbourne, Australia πŸ™‚

I am an American missionary in Mozambique and I log in a lot as I know several other friends here do. We are just east of South Africa, so it may list us as South Africa and not specifically Mozambique.

We have a great group of girls here – missionary women from several different countries and organizations- who meet each Thursday for Bible study. We’ve done several of Beth’s studies (with some Priscilla Shirer and Anne Graham Lotz thrown in) over the last 4 years. Right now we are in the middle of Esther and are enjoying it SO MUCH. God is teaching me so much through this awesome story.

Last week we watched the dvd where Beth explains BIRG and CORF. And I had to laugh to myself that I have definitely been a BIRGer with Beth since I met her in South Africa in 2002 and have pictures of us together (as do thousands of other women around the world). Except I know that with Beth the only glory I am basking in is that of the Lord Jesus Christ!

God gets all the honor and praise for how He is using and has used Beth’s teachings in my life and now the writings of Amanda and Melissa. Just know that there are 13 women in Mozambique, southern Africa, who are part of this big Siesta Family.

one of the things i so vividly remember about Passion 07 is a speaking session that louie giglio did about heaven with a window for a prop. every time he opened the window, music from a different language and country would play-representing the nations and our unified purpose in heaven to sing praises to our King.

it was beautiful to hear familiar melodies sung with words i didn’t understand, but with hearts that resonated perfectly in tune with mine. what a sweet gift we have to experience a small window into each other’s lives here, through social media and our encouragement to and for each other–a humbling foreshadowing of the creative tapestry to be completed when we are all staring at the same perfect and holy face.

God is so amazing! Amanda, you were an answer to prayer! This is too funny! You see, ever since we’ve been stationed in Salisbury, England (since Sept 2009), I have had an unquenchable desire in my heart to start some type of ladies bible study. I do attend one through my church but I am about the youngest one there (and I’m 36!). I have thought, meditated and prayed and prayed and have quite honestly ‘put off’ doing it because of my fear of rejection, and disappointment. Because in this area, bible studies for young gals are just not very common (you like how somehow I lump myself as a ‘young gal’) πŸ™‚ Anyway, last week, I was just at a point where I can no longer resist God’s calling to do something – anything! I knew I had 6 weeks to do something for this last “semester” of school (Jun 8-July 13) before the kids break for summer. So on a whim I googled’ “6 week bible studies” and literally the first one was “Beth Moore’s Blog is doing Kelly Minter’s 6 week study this summer. Well being that Beth has held a special place in my heart for 10 years now and also being a part of this Siestaville community, I just couldn’t help but laugh and say, “God, really?” You want me to do this one? I mean, I haven’t even read it and I need to get it out that that we are starting it in TWO weeks! The ONE Christian book store in town tracked down a single copy and is having it next- day’ed to me today from who knows where! And then this morning, you send a blog post speaking of all the people around the world reading the blog and how we can go about getting books abroad. I just love you and I love our LORD so much! Thank you for giving me encouragement to step out in faith and serve such a great and most deserving God! πŸ™‚ Cindy Childers, Salisbury, England

    Anna,
It’s so encouraging to know another siesta is in the Netherlands! Maybe we’ll have to have our own siesta convention someday!

The internet is an AMAZING tool! And, although sadly some people out there use it for bad, it is wonderful that it can be a tool to spread the word of God!!!!!!! Thank you so much for this blog. I’m a long time reader, but hardly ever comment. πŸ™‚

  11. 61
    Kelli says:

THank you thank you for posting this! Especially the distribution list. I didn’t think I could get the book anywhere over here (in Lebanon), but I looked and there is a place in Dubai where we are visiting next week in view of a possible move! I’m so excited that I can potentially get the book and have it to start on time!! Yay!

    Katie says:

We’re still waiting for you to visit Kuwait! πŸ™‚

…once you get a new passport (Israeli stamps are not allowed).

Until then, you’ll be in our Bible studies.

    God bless you!

    Pauline says:

I am new to this blog and also to Beth’s teaching. My neighbour invited me to the Simulcast on April 24th and I was truely blessed by God that day. So when I was sharing with some of my friends back home in South Africa about it they started telling me about the Bible studies that they have doing and how they have changed their lives.
God is awesome and can use us no matter where we live and through modern technology there is no limit. A girl I went to school with is busy getting all the girls in our class from school together for a 25th reunion next year and while she was doing this a girl in our class collapsed in a coma with what they thought was a brain aneurysm and couldnt do surgery as it was too deep so her family was told to prepare for the worst she was dying. Our class is scattered across the world and by that night we were all praying for her healing no matter where we were. 2 days later she woke up and the doctors are absolutely astounded and cant explain it.Just this week she had to have an angiogram and at first they said they found nothing but then they said they found a tiny aneursym and had to do a procedure to remove it but when they went in yesterday they found nothing. God is absolutely Awesome. By praying for our friend God brought us all together no matter where in the world we were.

    Lisa Burt says:

Praise the Lord for this, I know you all never imagined how many lives you would be touching. God is awesome and is doing great things through this blog and through each of you! Each of us Siesta’s are striving to be the Godly woman that he wants us to be and I thank yall for that example! May God continue to bless your ministry!

Greetings from Taiwan! A couple of my friends and I are doing the Esther study, and some of them are also siestas. πŸ™‚

I’ll be heading to the States for the summer and will be at the LPM event in St. Louis with friends from the US and from Taiwan.

After the summer, I’ll be moving to Indonesia, and will continue to keep in touch from Jakarta. Oh, I should mention that I lived in Kenya prior to Taiwan. It makes me smile to remember that some of you are reluctant to move your furniture to a new spot in your house, while others of us keep moving around the world! In case you’re wondering, I’m not a fugitive on the loose. God is just walking a very interesting international journey with me!

Got to love how we can remain connected over the oceans and across cultures, eh?

  26. 76
    Georgia Boone says:

This is truly a “small” world. Just look at how we are connecting. Praise God for the Internet and Blogging….we get to share and pray with each other and laugh a little with each other. When we get together in heaven we will have the best time!! Thank you LPM for this wonderful kind of sharing…..and thank you Moore’s, Jacksons and Fitzpatricks for opening your lives so personally with us.
I love you International Siesta’s…..will be praying for you. To Sweet Anonymous….will be praying for you as well.
    GOD LOVES YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PTL! How awesome is this? While attending the simulcasts recently, I was in awe at the realization that sooo many of us were praying, singing, praising and worshiping our God at the same time….I imagined Him observing us all over the US and Canada….I’m sure He was smiling! And, now….to realize that others around the world are connected through this website….how awesome! Yes, I think of the missionaries…but also, I think of our soldier’s wives that are stationed overseas….Thank you, Beth, Amanda and Melissa!!! =D

Hello from Singapore! I lived in LA for a year a couple of years back and was introduced to Beth’s Believing God study at the church we attended there. God met me right where I was through that study. Since we moved back to Singapore, I’ve introduced Beth to a few ladies in my church, we just finished the Esther study and are about to start on Breaking Free.

Do you think this study would be too much for 8th and 9th grade girls? I was thinking about doing the study anyway and I teach Jr. High girl’s Sunday School. I don’t know much about this study so I wasn’t sure if it wouldn’t be age appropriate or if they could handle it. Thanks! πŸ™‚

    siestas,

it is so great knowing we are all over the world. God gave us this community to share his word and our lifes with each other!

I am so grateful for that! I am working as a midwife and sometimes when I get home late (and I am not complaining God gave me one of the most rewarding jobs,.. but there are bad days in any job)I turn on the computer and just need a little encouragement,…a lesson from his word and I am blessed each time!!!

If anyone is in Berlin and would like to do the study this summer I will be happy to meet up πŸ˜‰

How about France! Hello everyone! My husband Daniel and I are French and we have been back in France for three years (we live in Normandy). We are missionaries with an American mission, HCJB Global. We spent 17 years in Ecuador and 3 years in Ivory Coast, West Africa in radio ministry.

If you could see my office at home, I have nearly all of Beth’s studies on one of my shelves. I have done several in the US (Jackson, Tennessee, where my son and family live), some alone by myself and now with a couple of friends who speak English (we are currently finishing “Beloved Disciple”).
There is no way to describe what these Bible studies mean to me!
This is the very first time I dare to write to a blog, so this is a milestone :-).
    Thanks a lot Amanda!

I have two prayer requests if I may: A close Swiss single friend, Anne-Claude, who is at the point of going back into mission work and who needs wisdom to know the Lord’ will.
One of my sisters, Monique, who is a declared atheist (I am the only Christian in my family) and who is suffering tremendously with her feet and can barely walk. Thanks!
I would love to hear from any of you.

Francoise (I am not putting the little thing under the β€œc” of my name because it doesn’t always come out right).

I have enjoyed being a part of this community!! Sometimes i feel so… “twice removed”, if you know what i mean. This community helps to fill the need that i have for fellowshipping and being accountable (on some level) with Christian sisters. I miss my Sisters back in central Texas.

I saw that Brazil came in at the bottom of the list. Are there any other Siestas Brasileiras on here? I am in central Brazil & still looking for a good church & fellowship.

Big Hugs & Holy Beijos to you all…
