Miesta Moose Says So Long to His Insecurities

He was one of the “ones” at the SLI simulcast last weekend.

Siesta Lavonda says, “Melana sent Moose with Adrienne to the simulcast, and during the lunch break, we took this picture of him (with the cup holder that makes him feel more secure about his hair.)”

You can check out one of his previous adventures here.

I am loving this Blog. I heard about it at the SLI seminar, which by the way…AWESOME!!!, this weekend and I am so glad I signed up. I have been laughing all day.

Thanks Siestas for all of your funny commentary. You are the best.

I was sitting next to Miesta Moose at the conference and, of course, requested a picture with the infamous moose before the event started. During the lunch break, the lady behind me tapped me on the shoulder-I turn around-she says, “What’s the deal with the moose?” Funny stuff!

Still processing everything from the weekend! Though, think I have found something to help (in small quantities),ready….

MOONPIE ICE CREAM from Krogers (their brand).

Yep it is true, just had some myself. It is not of course the real thing but we love us some ice cream here in this house.

Love it! Mr. Moose, will you be in St. Louis? Who else is going to St. Louis? Let’s have Siesta gathering.

Beth, I was told just last week, Thursday, before the simulcast by my boss I was the strongest person he knew. This coming from a man who runs an extremely company. I simply told him I was secure i who I was! Thank you Beth for that book because I would have never had anyone say that to me even a year ago!

The simulcast in Jonesboro AR was well done!!

    Dear Beth and girls,
I had to share what was said by the 2 older women sitting behind me in your “So Long… Seminar Saturday.” You entered the stage in all your cuteness and annointing (only as us Texas “born again” gals can do) and the observant woman from behind said in a surprised voice, “Oh my, Beth has on blue jeans!” Her girlfriend quickly relieved her astonishment with this simple and profound explanation, “well, she is at Woodstock, ya know!!!!!”
My neice, Haley and I almost lost it…
Thank you for blessing all of us with your message. We love, love, loved it.

    Beth,
At the end of the Simulcast, we passed out a questionnaire asking the ladies if they would be interested in a Book Club/Study based on your book. We had a wonderful response and I was wondering if you had written a study guide to go along with the book? If not, would you consider having one available online? I have the questions we used for the blog which will help the ladies to journal while reading, but I thought it might be nice to have some type of study guide to go along with it week to week.

Thanks for the book. It has been an eye-opener for me.

I have only been a “Siesta” for about a year and don’t know the story of Miesta Moose. I would love to hear about him. I have seen him on other posts and blogs and he is just darling! I hope he had as good a time at the simulcast as I did…it was awesome.

    Rene says:

I have a hard time having fun in life – I take it way too seriously so my first thought when seeing that moose was – we don’t have time for this! Then as I read the history of him I realized that if I had been blessed enough to bring my young daughter along to these events, that’s exactly the craziness we would do. I never thought everyone did stuff like this and actually shared it with the world. Maybe that’s why I don’t get along so well with other people. Thank you for helping to melt this old grinch heart a little more.

Rene, get yourself a little critter and get you and your daughter to a LPL or Deeper Still event. You can’t imagine the fun and bonding that will occur as you devise ways to chronicle your trip with your stuffed critter. God is so much fun! He really is. It’s not ALL He’s about….but He certainly throws enough fun into my life to make the journey an absolute JOY!!! I pray you will have a blast with Him and His people…specifically, us Siestas! God bless you, Rene. Life IS serious and sometimes, just stinkin’ painful. But He knows that, and in the midst of the pain, he gives me the joy of dearly loved women and a stuffed Moose….among SO many other things!! You are loved in this community.

      Melana 🙂

      • Rene says:

Thank you Melana. I hope to meet you some day. This whole blog about the moose (among other issues) has been a wonderful read.

      • Donna says:

Melana, your response to Rene just warmed my heart. I always love reading your comments and maybe someday I hope we can meet. You have such a heart for our Lord AND you make it fun along the way, just as Beth does. I ask Amanda if we were to get us a ‘critter’ here in Texas, would it need to be an Armadillo?…LOL!! I prefer the moose!! Take care Melana and have a blessed day!

        • moosemama says:

Donna, thank-you for your sweet words. I hope too, that we can meet some day. So little time….so many Siestas!!!

          And my day WAS blessed!!!

    Kathleen Funk says:

Dear Beth, Amanda and Melissa, my daughter Melissa is 9 years old and she is starting to read the bible more and she has told me she wants to do a bible study with me. In fact, she wanted to go to the Simulcast this past weekend and I told her no. I didn’t think she would understand it.

I was wondering if you could recommend a bible study that I could do with her or teach her. Something we could do together. As she grows, I know love to bring her with me to see you on Tuesday nights. We live here in Katy.

By the way, we met all 3 of you at Borders a couple of weeks ago when I bought So Long Insecurity.

Thanks for all of your help. I pray all 3 of you have a blessed day.

Kathleen, I don’t have a suggestion for you, but I’m interested to hear what other moms have to say. I would also go to LifeWay and ask if they have any recommendations for a study that you could do together.

      • Kathleen Funk says:

Thank you so much Amanda. I appreciate it very much. Have a great day. I’ll let you know what I find. I am on my way to the Lifeway store in a few minutes. One of my dear friends back home is having insecurity issues and I told her about your mom’s book and she wants a copy. Tell your mom, thank you so much for writing it. I just finished chapter 9 and right now it is my favorite chapter. WOW.

Oh my dear siesta, I’m excited for you. What a darling girl you must have for her heart to already be hungering for the Word and wanting to share this time with you. I believe the most important point to keep in mind is not to let this opportunity slip away while you are looking for a study. Beth actually has a young person’s version of the David study. I offered it to my two daughters when they were in their early teens. One took to it better than the other, but they’re as different as night and day, so I didn’t take it personally. Student Life also has several studies aimed at Middle and High School ages. These may initially seem to advanced, but your gal sounds rather above her age level anyway. Jump in and may God greatly bless your time together!

    Michele says:

Would someone please pray for me?
I am due to graduate seminary in a few weeks. I have been very far behind in my homework all semester, due to depression and other factors. I have been trying to pick up the pace, but it seems like the harder I try, the more stuff gets in the way.

I won’t go into all the details, but it sure feels like spiritual warfare to me. There is no way all these things could just coincidentally go wrong all at the same time.

God has been doing so much in me lately and I’m starting to get a bit of hope about good things to come – that may not sound like much but for me it’s huge.

    Thank you

      • Michele says:

Thank you all so much! It is working!

My knee is better, I can walk again, that is the biggest help, and the other issues vying for my attention are improved as well.

Still a TON of work to do in the next 2 weeks, but right now my mind is pretty clear and we’re making some good progress on my Galatians paper. 🙂

        Praise God!

Dearest Father, what amazes me is as Michele typed out her heart to us in Seistaville, you were catching the thoughts of her heart before they were formed…I love that about you. Lord Jesus, you sit at your Father’s right hand making intercession for us…Lord as we started the prayer you have sent the answer…God, thank you let us trust you at all times leaning not on our own understanding, but acknowleding you in our way knowing that you will make our paths straight…Father, thank you for being who you say you are and for doing what you say you can do…We know that because of this we know we are who you we are and we can do through Christ what you say we can do for your Word is alive and active in us…Thank you for Beth’s Bible Study, Believing God that solidified this truth and planted it firmly to memory to use as we need it in our walk. Lord, Michele needs your wonderful work toward her. Thank you Jesus that you will do that which is according to your divine power that your Father be glorified in you…have you not given us all thbings that pertain to life and godliness through the knowledge of Him that has called us to glory and virtue? YES Lord in Christ Jesus YES!

I wait to hear the praise Michele brings before you as prayer is answered.

    How fun!
I feel so honored that I got to meet Miesta Moose & his moose-mama (Melana) when my daughter and I attended the Siesta Fiesta in San Antonio. I’ve even got my picture taken with them! I’m SO glad he’s making it around the U.S.
Melana…same goes for me…..if you need him to come to Oklahoma I’ll take him sight seeing around here. If I had him now he might just get to attend a Thunder/Lakers play off game with me. (if I get tickets, that is) Just send him my way. 🙂
I sure wish I would have been there in Atlanta with you ladies. When is the next big get-together?
    Love you all!

Thank you to Beth, to all of her team that put the simulcast on. I’ve been living with deep pain for 15 years and Saturday with God’s message to Beth, I was able to let go and I’m going to live a new life from now on. For me and my three little daughters. So thank you. From the very depths of my newly filled up heart.
p.s. I was the one in the store trying to non-chalantly look at other books until I decided if I was going to actually put an “insecurity” book in my cart, and now I have written about it on my blog for all the world to see and be encouraged (hopefully) by it.

I don’t have a comment directly related to this particular entry, but I didn’t know where else to post it. I would LOVE to see Beth Moore do a bible study on raising children and particularly raising children to love the Lord. I would love to hear some of her parenting tips and tricks when she had little ones at home. Just a thought. Any chance??? Thank you. Krista

I so love reading everyone’s comments! Love reading about SLI simulcast (didn’t go but read the book) and Miesta Moose. Still, I have not read any intel on where that awesome cup sleeve came from (one would assume Starbuck’s on Siestaville blog), but never assume.

Sounds like a perfectly lovely weekend. Shopping, food, pictures, wedding, some laughs-I love it. I also would like to comment on something I read today in Isaiah.
Stop regarding man, whose breath of life is in his nostrils: For why should he be esteemed? Isaiah 2:22
Of course I have read the entire “Insecurity” book, and so I apologize if this was a scripture that was used in the book. My memory is as short as my years are long. this scripture just really hit me. Wow!
