Maryam and Marzieh’s Court Hearing

UPDATE: Ladies, our contact at Elam had this information to share today (4/14).

We are very thankful for the many prayers on behalf of Maryam and Marzieh.
They were not detained but we have been told that their court process will take a few more days. Once we learn of the outcome we will share it with you. Meanwhile we ask for your continued prayers.
Thank you for standing in prayer with us for them.

Last October we joined together in prayer for two of our Iranian Christian sisters, Maryam and Marzieh, who were suffering in prison for their faith. About a month later we got to celebrate as they were released from prison to await their court hearing. We recently found out that the court hearing is tomorrow, April 13, 2010.  Siestas, please be in prayer for these women. Here’s the message from Elam Ministries:

Maryam and Marzieh need our prayer.

They spent 259 days in prison for their Christian faith. After their conditional release on 18th November 2009 from Iran’s Evin Prison, they have been convalescing and receiving medical treatment for the past five months.

Both of them still remain unwell, weak and suffering from various illnesses. However, despite their frailties they are determined to be faithful to the Lord and speak the truth in court whatever the consequence or personal cost.

Maryam and Marzieh’s court hearing has been set for 13th April 2010.

Therefore, on their behalf, during the next five days leading up to their court hearing we request your prayers.

Pray that:

The peace of God will protect their hearts and minds and keep them safe.
They will completely recover from their illnesses and be strong physically, mentally and spiritually.
They will know the presence of God in the midst of their trial.
They will be set free.

Maryam & Marzieh would like to express their heartfelt gratitude for your prayers that have sustained them throughout their hardship.

Thank you for praying.

My heart hurts for these women. I wonder, would I have the courage to continue to serve God when faced with this kind of torture? I hope so. God, please help them.

“and for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.” (Eph 19 – 20)

Please Father – May you be glorified in and through these dear sisters unto the saving of souls!

Thank you for letting us know to pray today specifically. Anyone wanting more information regarding these and others believers imprisoned for believing in Christ throughout the world may also check prisoneralert.com. For their article on Maryam and Marzieh, go to the bottom of the page and click on “recently released.” A very neat feature of this site is that it allows you to write to people in prison for their faith in several different contries. They give you phrases to choose from including many scriptures and then they translate it to the designated language. Then they give you the address of the prison and the projected price to send it there. It usually only costs around 90 cents.
For the lady that asked about Maryam and Marzieh’s specific charges, this article lists those along with the date of their arrest and initial court date.
Lord, please have mercy on each one of these precious sisters and brothers in Christ.

Lord, Help me to set aside my trivial concerns. I trust you to take care of Maryam and Marzieh because you love them. I declare that no weapon formed against them will prosper. I know You are all powerful and are able to do anything. Nothing is impossible with you God and I am waiting for your will to be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Please bless them with peace, confidence, sound minds and restored health. Help Maryam and Marzieh to forgive them that persecute them. Help us to forgive them and bless them that curse us, so that there will be no bitterness in our hearts. I know there are others suffering for their faith in Iran and elsewhere. Let this case be a witness of who You are to the world. Help our faith to grow and be strengthened so we can be overcomers. Let the world know that Jesus is Lord, Your Son and You are the Almighty God. Thank you for sending your Holy Spirit to gude us and help us in our times of need. I ask these things in the name of Jesus Christ, Yeshua.
