Curtis Home!

Praise our gracious God, Curtis Jones is home! Thank you so much for copious prayers! His parents did make it safely to Houston and his wife is one happy and exhausted woman. We so appreciate the privilege to live life with you. I’ll keep this post short because I need to get to the roll call straightaway.

Still praying for CJs full recovery and for peace and blessings to flow this weekend. Especially praying for all the technicians who help make everything run smoothly. Lord bless every single cable and connector and techie that has anything to do with this ministry. Give them supernatural perfection as they insure that every single person in all those locations can hear a word from GOD.

and please remove the pain from our Sweet Mama Beth’s toe for the day, okay?

Wonderful! Praise God for His healing.

I was wondering how he was doing. A ruptured appendix is not good, infection even worse.

Totally bummed that I participated in the SLI blog study and can’t do the simulcast. My husband is running his first (and probably his last :)) marathon tomorrow to kick off the Kentucky Derby Festival, so I need to be there to cheer him on to the finish line!

May God be glorified this weekend!

Thank you dear LORD. So relieved to hear Curtis and Amanda are back home. Now I’ve tried to imagine Beth getting through two good size airports today: wheelchair or golfcart? I’m going to have to go with golf cart. Flats or toe boot? I’m no fan of pain so I’m going to have to go with the boot. I have yet to see anyone make that look cute, so I’m counting on you, Beth. And Pleease, Lord don’t let anyone bump her toe; (of course, the boot has the added benefit of providing some protection from distracted travelers). Have you remembered Kay Arthur when she taught at Deeper Still in Nashville with her leg in a cast? Perhaps tooling around in a wheelchair on stage isn’t a bad idea. Just don’t come as close to the edge as she did. But that’s right where you live, isn’t it. On the edge 🙂

    AJ, CJ and Mama Beth…

I have not been online much reading and just caught wind of all this going on with Curtis and Amanda and all of you. Oh, I pray for a full and speedy recovery. I know the Lord will provide.

I can so relate to all you wrote in the last week about Curtis’ condition. My father went through an extreme situation with his appendix rupturing in 1986. I was 16 yrs. old at the time and it was traumatic for us then. My father nearly died of septic shock. But, to God’s great credit and glory, my father lived with a ruptured appendix from January 1986 until July. It took doctors several days to discover the cause of his extreme ailments when he went to the hospital ER on the heals of a 4th of July celebration. By week’s end, surgeon’s elected to do exploratory surgery to find the cause of his pain and illness. They found that his appendix had been ruptured for quite some time and his body had created a protein shell around the infected area. It was nothing short of a festering mess. Apparently the shell ruptured in July and released the toxic abscess into his blood stream. My father was in the hospital for two weeks and as a bonus, he kicked his two pack a day smoking habit at the same time. We don’t know how the two were related but the idea of smoking repulsed him terribly after the ordeal with his appendix.

Grateful CJ went to the hospital and is home and doing much better. Love you guys.

      Amanda says:

Oh my word! What a story!

      • Tell me. That summer my mother went into the hospital and had gall bladder surgery the week of my Sweet Sixteen Birthday party. A few weeks later both of my brothers were taken to the ER in Knox City, TX (to me, far from home) where I was the “big sis” in charge of caring for bros. while my aunt sat in the car. Why were we at the ER you might ask?

My brothers were taking out the trash at my aunt’s restaurant when the younger of the two went down with a leg wound. The four boys – my brothers and twin cousins, thought the poor kid was snake bit. They hustled him back to the kitchen and when my other brother returned from the trash run, he, too, had a gash in his leg.

They had both carried a bag with large pieces of broken glass and cut their legs badly. My aunt called my dad who was 45 minutes away in a neighboring town and ordered him to the hospital. She threw us in the back of her big green Lincoln Continental and drove like mad to Knox City.

She dropped us at the door of the ER where I checked my brothers in and later accompanied them to the treatment room.

My middle brother was an old pro at stitches. He owned a football helmet by age five because his head was covered in playground battle scars. He took the shot and the stitching like a champ. My younger brother, well… Suffice it to say he is the baby of the family. He as 11 at the time. I held his hand and nearly fainted as the needle went in his wound. He screamed and wailed, “I want my mommy!”

I cried and closed my eyes as I hugged him. “Me, too.” A few seconds later Daddy walked through the door and I was saved.

It was a crazy summer… One I will surely never forget. I’m guessing there is a blog post in all of this somewhere I’ll let you know what I find… when I find it. 🙂

Glad all is getting back to normal for you all! Love ya, AJ.
