We Made It!

Whew! I can’t believe it finally happened! We made it to WordPress! Thanks for following us to our new home. Don’t forget to bookmark our new address or subscribe to the new feed if you like using a feed reader.

I’m sitting on my couch with my laptop, but I feel like I’m driving a new car with this unfamiliar dashboard in front of me. Just for kicks, and so we can all test drive the commenting process, tell me something fun or interesting about a car you’ve had!

My first car was a 1987 Mustang GT convertible. It was my grandmother’s car and she gave it to me when I turned 16. Can you believe that? I was really blessed, to say the least!  It was beautiful and fast off the line and I’m sure I don’t need to tell you how much fun my friends and I had in it.

I was a little too proud of that car and the Lord humbled me many, many times in it. For one, when it rained really hard, the water would leak inside from between the windshield and the top. I remember driving home from Texas A&M for an orthodontist appointment and it was monsooning outside. The rainwater was pouring in and I had nothing to soak it up with, so I took off one of my socks and tried to soak it up with my right hand while my left hand was on the wheel. Oh, and I was bawling my eyes out! I have no idea how I ever made it home.

On the night my sister turned 16, she did not have her car yet. She would soon be given a 1969 Camaro that she and my dad loved working on together. But that night I let her take my Mustang out to celebrate with her friends. Melissa and I just happen to be complete opposites of one another. For example, when the traffic light turned green I would accelerate as fast as I could to the speed limit. Melissa lived to blow right by it. As I remember it, on that night – the very night of her 16th birthday and the start of her official driving life – Melissa burned up the engine of my car! Bless my mom’s heart that she had to raise two daughters who are as different as night and day.

Every spring when the weather is as gorgeous as it is in Texas right now, I miss that car like crazy. Maybe one day when I’m done with booster seats and carpooling I’ll have another convertible.

Now maybe I can get my sis to tell us a Camaro story!

When I was in high school in the sixties, my best friend Lisa had the car in the crowd- a green 1935 Chevrolet that she called “The Green Bullet”. That car took us on many adventures around the area. Only problem was, when it was raining, giving pressure on the accelerator made the wiper blades halt! It could not have been very safe, but we were invincible back then! Thanks be to the good Lord for seeing us through those years!

my first car was a 1962. covar convertable with a daisy on the side. I pushed it as much as i rode in it. It had a starting issue and was a 4 speed so i would run and push it jump in and pop the cluth and it would start. one day being a rear motor car the engine fell out because the motor mount broke. My dad got me a 1968 green mustang convertable and being a spring branch girl i loved it. I drove that mustang to huntsville texas for my first year at sam houston.I wish i had that car now!!

My husband had a Camaro convertible when we got married. He loved that car but it was uncomfortable to me plus not the safest thing in the world to drive our two girls to school in so he finally went with a “boring” safe sedan. We were just talking the other day how we need to rent a convertible some time this spring and take in the Dogwood Arts Festival around here (we live in Knoxville, TN). I think we just may do that and maybe, Amanda, that is a solution for you right now. 🙂

One of my favorite cars was a little blue station wagon that a bunch of high school sophomores had taken from nothing ~ and then gave it to me. By the way, they painted it electric blue. It was a wonderful little car, and I was really sad to say goodbye to it a few years later. Those boys did an amazing job!

7 years ago I had a brand new silver Celica – how I loved that car!!! I have never had a car without a sunroof . . . until a week ago. I am now the (proud?) owner of . . . a minivan! Ahhhhhhhh I never ever thought this day would happen – but I am trying to embrace it! 🙂

My first car was a 1993 Chevy Cavalier! I got it when I was 17 and thought I was hot stuff b/c the shifter was in the console and not on the steering wheel! lol And b/c it had black interior. :o)
I had that car all through college and one of my favorite things to do in it was go exploring with my sis. We’d see a road we’d never been down before and take it and wind up getting lost and try finding our way home. We found so many neat places around where we live and shortcuts too. I still love doing that from time to time, but gas is a bit too expensive to do it much.
That car wasn’t a looker (my dream car is a 1967 Mustang or any kind of Jeep) but it was mine. :o)
Love the new site!! It’ll take some getting used too, but it’s all good.

These are great stories, Little Momma:):) My first car was a white Nissan from the nineties (I’m not good w/ cars, so I don’t remember the year or anything, sad) My little sister, Deanna, was about 6 or so when I got my car during my SENIOR year. Yes, sigh, I had to ride the bus or hitch rides until i was a senior, near the end of my senior year too, double sigh. But, anyway, the car had a blue interior, and my little sister called it “the white-powdered blueberry donut”. The child has a vivid imagination:) It got me through college like a champ though, and some of my married years. But, I got in an accident on a windy back road a couple of years ago (the same little sis was with me)I got sideswiped on the driver side, but we were uninjured, praise the Lord! Then, with my second car/Suv I have now, an Izuzu. She calls it “the Cranberry” because it is maroon on the outside, tan on the inside. Love my little Sis, she’s 13 now:) At least this car has a healthier name:):)

    Blessings,

My first brand new car was a Honda Civic. I remember the thrill of driving it off the lot. I was so nervous I thought for sure I was going to crash it before I got it home.

My first car was a 2000 VW Beetle… and LIME green at that 🙂 It was when they first came out and I was SO shocked that my dad bought it for me… it was a surprise of sorts 🙂

Okay, this is just weird. Since I didn’t get my driver’s license until about a year and a half ago, because of SEVERE INSECURITY I’m still driving my first car. It’s an old subaru legacy (don’t remember what year) and it has more dents in it than ever before thanks to me. They seriously should have never given me a driver’s license. I’m a terrible driver, just like I’m terrible at everything else!

My story has quite a sad ending but my first vehicle was my brother’s old pickup – a Ford Ranger. He had bought it with the money my grandpa gave him when he turned 16 and when I turned 16 my brother was gone for college (couldn’t take the truck with him cuz it was a bible college) and my grandpa gave me the same amount he gave my brother. So I paid him for it and bought it. The sad ending was it only lasted through high school because exactly 3 days after I graduated from High School I was driving to take my long distance boyfriend to see Elephant Butte Lake and wrecked on I-25. Yes going 80 miles an hour and flipped 6 times. Yes in a SMALL Ford Ranger (NO extended cab!) It was literally a miracle – we both walked away with ONLY bruises, cuts and one concussion from my boyfriend.

Oh I forgot to add the sad part about the vehicle – although I’m sure you figured it out but it was destroyed but not only that the truck caught on fire about 10 minutes after we wrecked so it became crisp! Needless to say I got to take a picture of it before it was turned into scrap metal. 🙁

I am brand new- I have never written you before. I have done a couple of your Bible Studies, am just completing Esther and I just finished reading “Insecurities”. I has been an answer to prayer. I hope to join the conversation soon. I know it will end soon but that’s okay.
An interesting thing about a car I had. Years ago we owned God’s Little Car- a Mazda GLC. It was a great car.

Okay, so my car story is two fold… my first and current. My first car was a 1975 Chevy Nova. While I know now I was blessed to have it, I HATED that car. I remember going with my daddy to buy it new in 1975 and knew that someday it would be mine. But, by the time it was given to me, it was something else. It had a white vinyl top ad was light blue. You could tell where my little brother had used Windex to wash it one day, a spray mark and then the classic drip. It was pretty. The day I got my license we pulled into the driveway and my daddy promptly taught me how to change a tire, it was a good thing, I changed many on that darn thing. I do remember having may good times but man oh man… that car!

Just recently I bought a 2010 Chevy Camaro and it is RED! I had been shopping since Sept and everytime I got ready to buy I got cold feet and changed my mind. By the time I finally bought it in Jan, I felt a peace and and okay from Him. Yes that sounds funny, an okay from Him… but really it was an amazing experience and He so blessed me. I had done everything over the phone but when I went to pick it found that the dealer was not only a Christian but he also lost a son at the age of 17. We were able to talk about our precious children and shared Jesus together. It was awesome. It’s been and incredible witness as I am able to share with people that God was “all over” my car buying experience and how HE blessed me through it. Just this evening a guy was oohing and ahhing all over my car ad I was able to tell Him how HE blessed me with my shiny red car… FUN!

Yea I found you. My first car was a beautiful robin-egg blue Vega hatchback- you have to be a child of the 70s to know what that is. It didn’t have an air-conditioner and black interior but I would try to swoop downhill as fast as possible with the clutch in to save gas and create a breeze to cool off in the hot Alabama summers. I once drove the 977 miles from my parents house to my dorm at Auburn with a giant teddy bear strapped in the front passenger seat. My current boyfriend had won it at a fair for me while I was at home for summer break. Isn’t it fun to remember stops on the journey of life? Love the look of the new site. Happy glorious Easter – Praise God for the ultimate journey.

My very favorite car was a 1968 Pontiac Bonneville that I owned when it was 10 years old. My dad, who is still the world’s best bargain hunter, bought it for $100. My girlfriends and I named it the “Sugar Fox Mobile” which was fitting since we had also named ourselves “The Sugar Foxes”. We “dragged” Main Street in our small NC town every Friday & Saturday night in The Sugar Fox Mobile. Each weekend, we would wash and wax it till it shone and then we would drive proudly from one end of Main St. to the other and back again for 2 – 3 hours every weekend night. I love that car and the happy memories with my fellow Sugar Foxes – still friends to this day.

I just realized I had missed the blog move today…but I can’t resist the car post.
My first vehicle was an 81 Chevy Luv pickup. My dad and I rebuilt the engine one summer and then redid the exterior the next summer. We painted it a beautiful shade of dark purple 🙂 I still love the color. We took the bed off and my dad built an AWESOME wooden flat bed for it. It was, in my opinion, the most beautiful little truck that ever existed. It was the topic of discussion of all classes in my HS that had windows near where I parked it!
Unfortunetly, my dad lived two states away and even after the rebuild it still needed lots of little fixes, so I had to trade it in after about a year of driving it.

PS It was also a stick-shift which I will always prefer…

My first car was a brand new 1973 Ford Capri. I had just graduated from Taylor University, and my father told me that the minute I signed my first teaching contract, I could order a car! It was BEAUTIFUL!!

I understand! I had a 1986 Mustang GT convertible. Had WAY too much fun in it, and have similar “leakages”. The one I remember was actually in the snow…it actually blew the SNOW through the hole in the front right into the car…mercy! I, like you, have already informed my girls ( I have 3 ) that when they are grown and out of college…I WILL be getting another convertible! They think I have lost my mind…guess that is not how a “mom” is supposed to think! Thank you for sharing the memories…and by the way…I am the ONLY undefeated car that ever raced “the quarter” on a farm to market road outside of Honey Grove…and the only GIRL that ever raced it as far as I know. Yes, the pink slip was on my father’s bedside table for weeks just daring me to do it again!

Oh how pathetic this is–it’s taken me two weeks to realize, “Hmm, Bethmoore hasn’t been posting lately. Oh yes, they moved. . . ” my feed reader didn’t update your new info. Hee hee! Well now I’ve caught up. An interesting thing, I was actually very excited to move up to the “minivan”! Imagine, being able to get all three of the children and all their associated “stuff” around from place to place! It is, to me, a picture of the LORD’s blessing.

Its like you read my thoughts! You seem to know so much about this, like you wrote the guide in it or something. I think that you just can do with a few pics to drive the message home a bit, but other than that, this is amazing website. A good read. I’ll most certainly be back.
