Back to Bible Study, Home Girls! And, How About Some Newbies?

It’s a gorgeous, cold morning in Houston, Texas and not a cloud in the sky. Let’s put last week’s severe weather fiasco behind us, Houston-area girls, and have us some Bible study tonight! (Some of you may know that we had 17 flakes of snow and it shut the city down. Exciting times at the Gulf Coast!)

We loved hearing from you northern Siestas who said that, all winter long, you basically schedule and cancel, schedule and cancel, schedule and cancel. And we think we’ve got Bible study problems!

One of my favorite things that has happened on the blog in the last week is hearing from at least 100 new commenters through last Thursday’s post. I did a shout-out to people who’d never posted and you immediately came out of the wood work, as my grandmother would say, and totally made my week! All the regulars on here loved it, too. You are a delight to us. Completely refreshing. Stay with it!

That delight got me in the spirit! Let’s have another shout-out today to a different set of newbies. How about some Houston area women who have never been with us at Tuesday night LPM Bible study heading our way this evening? It’s a completely interdenominational women’s gathering at Houston’s First Baptist Church at 7401 Katy Freeway. We start praise and worship at 6:30.

We would be jazzed out of our minds to have you! By this time in our series, we always have plenty of seats for visitors so why don’t you make the trip, brave the traffic, persevere to find a parking place, and come have Bible study with us? (This invitation is not meant to take anyone from an already existing Bible study group on Tuesday night. Stay with your own! But, it you’re not participating in another one, come get a Word with us!) Look for a LPM staff member or volunteer and tell them you are new with us and that you took today’s challenge. She’ll make you so glad you came.

Now, let’s open it up for your own shout-outs. If you have a Bible study (any day of the week) open to the public that you want to let your Siestas in your area know about, give the invitation as a comment to this post. I was so blessed that one of you wrote in a comment this week that you went to a new church last Sunday and met a Siesta and God caused you to feel welcome from the very start. Now, THAT’S what this community should be all about.

I am so honored to journey with all of you. Jesus is life, Girlfriends. Jesus is life. Let’s run after Him with every ounce of energy we have.

I am AUNTIE for the 19th time!!! My sister is a real WILD Woman- like a PIONEER.

She had baby #3 in her home, last night just before midnight. She was 11 days overdue, he was 10# and she DID NOT TEAR and used NO medicine. Did you hear that NO medicine. She is such a warrior for God!

The coolest thing — God gave her this vision of having baby #3 at home two whole months before they conceived!! And this 4am when she called to tell me the news, she just 'laid' in awe of how God fulfilled that dream. It was just as she had 'dreamed' it a year ago!!

Whoa. Now, that is giving one the desires of her heart.

I am so proud of my Lord.
    What a hero!

What a dream maker and ful-filler!!

    Amen!

Congrats to Diandra K. Kuenzi and her husband Brad. After two girls, this little boy was a welcomed addition to the family!

Can you tell I am so proud?

    She is my 'little' sister!

    My wild woman!

    Dearest Beth,

Now I will post my assignment from week #3.

Two causes of Insecurity — whoa. That is my new favorite word. It is like I can see my brain or my life just riding along on a mustang and I pull back and just stare — whoa God.

Anyway, what you wrote – how you touched each 'root' was like, you had lived my life. This chapter TORE me up. I had to wait a few days to read Chapter Six. I had to 'pray' to move forward!

But, it was a prayer of thankfullness as some things just really clicked!

    1. Instability in the Home – Oldest of 9 children. My parents were /are dairy farmers. They married young, had six kids by the time they were in the early 30's and so finacially strapped trying to live and work and farm in the 70's. My dad verbally and physically abused my mom over and over and it spilled over into us kids — but some of us more than others. Then the 'next' day, the actors and actresses would come out and 'all would be normal' as to the public, we were so perfect. I feel I could blog and blog on this over and over. For the past few days, I have just been reminded of different things and then I will go — "no wonder, I felt that way". And, "that is why". So, so so so so therapudic and I don't even care if I did not spell that right. I need to get this assignment completed. I want to.

#2 = Rejection. As, I did not fell my daddy loved me. I saw love in so many different forms and well, I just thank God today that I did not fall into any wrong situations or things considering I was starving for affection. And I still am — working on that. I am so blessed that now, I can say — I don't need anyone to tell me they love me – I only 'want' them too. As I know, my Lord and Savior is my HERO and HIS love is perfect and it has never failed me. Never.

Thank you for being in my 'head' and life — thank you for being obedient to HIM in the writing of this book. I am already becoming less insecure and more secure in HIM. I know it!

The other question — is God speaking to me? Oh yes. Everyday. Everyday. That song now — 'this is what is feel like to be all alone – this is what it feels like to be led' — not sure WHO sings it, it is popular now, but I can say, I am walking with God. I am. I know HE is right here. So is he speaking to me? Yes. But specifically, he is reminding me to love my husband AS HE does and LET HIM 'fix' him. He is also reminding me in 'short bits' of how he cares for every detail.

I am a words of affirmation person — thus — with EACH blog, I pray and pray and HOPE that someone will respond. I need to see that written word or hear it. But, as I continue to learn and 'live' in the truth of who I am in Christ — I feel that 'need' decrease and decrease and now, when it happens — it is a delight! Not what I EXPECT. Did that make sense? I hope so.

OK, it is 12.38am – Florida time. And I can't wait for the post tomorrow.

Again – thanks Amanda, Melissa, and Beth and the Village for this ministry. You rock.

Then we refill our cups and discuss the msg around our tables when the dvds over.

    Rosie,
I'm praying for you, siesta, and want to encourage you to read through all these comments and find some siestas in Atlanta who will help you fall into His faithful arms! One day at a time, sweet Jesus…give Her your strength.

And I know this is a longshot, since most of you seem to be from the south or west… but if there are any southern Lancaster or Chester county Pennsylvanians looking for some Bible study fellowship, we meet at 9am on Wednesdays at Mt. Vernon Mennonite Church in Kirkwood, PA. We're working through Beth's "Living Beyond Yourself" and we'd love to have you join us! Email [email protected] for details.
