Home From Pittsburgh!

Hi, Girlfriends! I hope your weekend is full of joy and laughter and recreation and that God’s shown up in the middle of it one way or another. I just got home a little while ago from Pittsburgh and I am overwhelmed with gratitude to God. Yet again, He granted us the most fabulous group. I’ve had the joy and challenge of 25 years of speaking and 11 years of Living Proof Live and I’m going to tell you that God has given us some of our neatest groups this very year. I have loved every single one of them, starting with El Paso in January.

These 6000+ Pittsburgh sisters were like bird dogs on point from the very beginning. Totally focused and into it. They came for Jesus and I pray with all my heart that they got Him. I loved them like nobody’s business. A ton of really young women. And, of course, plenty of sisters in their 70’s and up. They always bless me so much, especially as I see them worship. There is something so dear about it that it makes me want to bawl. We had women from – get this – 28 States (mostly PA, Ohio, NY) and representing something like 378 different churches. Amazing.

We had something happen this time that is a total first at Living Proof Live: A PUBLIC PROPOSAL! Our drummer, Kevin Jones, who we’re totally nuts about, got down on his knee right on the stage this morning and asked his gorgeous girlfriend, Ashley, to marry him. Opened the ring box and everything. Travis had set them up so, needless to say, he’s beside himself. Taking all the credit. I’m so ticked that it wasn’t me. You’ve got to understand that we have all (including Keith) been wondering when the woman of Kevin’s dreams was going to show up. He’s like the catch of the century and it was amazing that he’d made it to 30 as an eligible single, handsome, GODLY guy. This was a really big deal to all of us because every wonderful young woman we’d meet would raise our eyebrows on Kevin’s behalf. Nope. Not the one.

Then Travis invited Ashley to a worship event where he and Kevin were serving and that was it. Get the tux. So, Trav called me this week to let me in on the secret that drummer man had gotten a ring, and that’s when the conspiracy took shape. Because Kevin has been such a big part of our team for so long, it was only fitting for him to have that platform for his proposal if he wanted it. There was a big catch though. It also had to work out for Ashley to come all the way from Tennessee to the event. (You wouldn’t believe how many things had to go exactly right for this to pull off. God loves them. That’s all I’m saying.)

Lo and behold, because it was Kevin’s birthday, Ashley just happened to come to “surprise” him. To really get this scenario, you need to keep in mind that she thought she was the tricky one and that he’d never expect her to show up. Kevin took the chance that she might hop on the plane and had leaked the word to both their parents that, with their blessing, he’d pop the question this weekend at the event if she did. Right on cue, both sets of moms and dads snuck into Pittsburgh last night and to the front row of the arena this morning to watch the whole thing first hand.

Here’s how Travis set it up: we’d sung two praise songs this morning in our first session when he called three of us having birthdays to the platform. One of them was Kevin himself. The others were Tammy Jenson (one of our terrific singers) and yours truly. He led the whole arena in a rousing chorus of Happy Birthday to us and then staged the brilliant part: Travis had asked Ashley to come up on the platform and present each of us birthday folks with bouquets of flowers. After she’d put them in our hands, Trav gave all of us that “clear the platform!” look and we scurried off. When Ashley naturally tried to follow us, Kevin grabbed her hand and told her to stay and the rest is history. I wish you could have seen her face. Honestly, Siestas, it was so romantic you wouldn’t have believed it. It made me want to march straight home and marry Keith Moore again.

It was so much fun. One of my favorite LPL memories of all. God loved it. I could feel it in my spirit. He got as big a kick out of it as we did.

Kevin & Ashley at Living Proof Live from Kris Seidenkranz on Vimeo.

Would you believe that the big proposal coincided with another LPL “first”? We had a young bride (22 years old) named Emily Venesky in attendance from the Pittsburgh area with her entire bridal party and get this: her wedding was TONIGHT. She would have walked down the aisle just 6 hours after she left the conference. When was the last time you heard of a bridal party opting for a Christian women’s event over getting their hair and nails done on the big day? I was floored. They were absolutely adorable. I pray that God blows their minds with favor over what they prioritized on this pivotal weekend.

Well, that’s all my news for now except for the fact that I got a brand new I-phone. And I am completely obsessed with it. I was a total power-texter on my Verizon Voyager. I knew it so well I didn’t even have to look at the darn thing when I jotted a text. My new I-phone has a totally different keypad, though, so I’m really having to adjust to texting on it but you just wait. I’ll be the reigning queen in five days flat. I love it! I love it! I love it! I love it! There’s still a lot I have to figure out like how to answer it and stuff, which, of course, Travis knew. That explains why he grabbed it and took a picture of himself that looks sorta like he’s picking his nose with both index fingers and put it on my wallpaper. So, for now, that’s what I see every time somebody calls me. I’m getting Michelle to deal with it first thing Monday morning. In the meantime, I’ll just laugh my head off. I love my team. It’s like trying to work with a group of Godly 8 year-olds.

And, to our Siesta that very sweetly asked me if I was using a hands-free device while driving and talking to Melissa on my cell, yes, as a matter of fact I am. Blue Tooth. I’m so cool that I’m going to have to sleep in my sweats tonight.

Obviously, my team is working with a veritable 8 year-old, too, that looks suspiciously like she’s about to turn…

Welcome home! What a blessed weekend you had! I was teary watching the proposal. Y'all are so sweet to share your lives with us.

You're going to love, love, love your IPhone! I installed a flash card app at the begining of Siesta Scripture Memory verse challenge & it's been so great because I can "flip" through my flash cards on my phone just about anywhere.

    Have a wonderful night!

Happy birthday, Beth! I know that our Father in heaven made sure you felt so loved and special on your birthday. And I'm glad He is using my small voice to add to that blessing in your life. Thank you for using up your life for His glory. I'm supposing that in heaven, we get to still celebrate our birthdays and it will be extra sweet because no matter what the number…there will be no indication that we are "aging." No wrinkles, no blemishes, no aches and pains, and no grays….Oh how I look forward to that day. Can I just add that you look fab-u-lous?!?! I've put your legs on order for my new heavenly body. I hope you find that to be complimentary…lol…

This was my first Beth Moore Live event. I was thoroughly overwhelmed to be in a place where 6,000+ Christians were in one place all praising the Lord. I feel blessed to have been able to attend and more blessed for the experience. I am currently in my second Beth Moore Bible Study at my church. I have enjoyed each minute and have never learned so much with the unique perspective that is given to each study. Thank you so much for your calling.

i just arrived back to my home a little while ago from your conference at the Peterson Center in Pittsburgh. All i can say is wow…..

Your ability to bring the Gospel alive for all of us is truly a gift from God, and we were blessed to have taken part of such a wonderful event.

….you talked about storms, but it became personal when…you brought up the movie The Perfect Storm you said…..”maybe you were born in 1991 and don’t remember that storm”…. My daughter was born in 1991 ………you got me thinking about my daughter Stephanie …….my mom, sisters, and some of my dearest friends were there today…..but Stephanie wasn’t there……then you talked about the 8 moms who stood by a tiny casket, that was me too…standing beside Stephanie’s casket. I am a mom who lost a little one, and you so do allow the Holy Spirit to just speak through you, Thank you for bringing such a personal message, with a word from God to remind me of that time in my life, such precious and tender memories.

May God be glorified, May He protect us from everything but His glory….God Bless you Beth Moore, Thank you!

Bless you Beth and happy belated birthday wishes from this gal in Alabama.

I have tears in my eyes from watching that clip of the proposal….ADORABLE and they are both cuties! May God richly bless their marriage. My husband is a collegiate baseball coach and he proposed to me while in his uniform just prior to a game…..I was NOT expecting that and it may be one of the few times I was absolutely speechless. 🙂

Still working hard on memorizing those verses….am praying God will work out the details for me to join all the other siestas in Houston in late January. Woooohooooo. May I join you in worship in that special section at your church….the place where we can raise our hands in total praise???!!!!

    Love and Blessings,

Happy birthday, Beth! I'm a June 'baby', too!! Have fun with your I-phone…I have had mine since January and still can't text fast and be accurate…sometimes I have to type a word three or four times to get it right!!!! I just LOVE it though. I have the most awesome Bible app…..12 or so translations and that's just the English ones. Comes in so handy for Bible study…if it's not clear in one translation, I just switch to another (and sometimes another!) one!! I also use my phone to share pictures of your grandbabies with my Bible study friends!!

    Mz. Beth,

I hope you have a fantastic birthday! Congratulations and best wishes to Kevin, Ashley, and Emily. I always think the men who propose very publicly have great courage – gotta trust that she will say yes.

I hope you got the new iPhone 3GS that was just introduced this week. Has new features that make it worth the upgraded phone. Last year, I also moved from the same LG phone to iPhone. Tapping to type took a little getting used to – but happened fast, like you predicted. I really tested the auto spelling corrector. The phone is so intuitive! So now it's like a fun game to me to see how it corrects my bad "finger aim" on the keyboard. Just type as fast as possible and don't go back to fix any word until after you've hit the space bar. It's amazing how much it auto-corrects.

One of the absolute top reasons I enjoy my iPhone is because that is how I'm often able to check this blog, write comments, and keep my memory scriptures with me even when my index card binder is in the car. Just used the GPS function to find an unfamiliar Lifeway store when far from home to get Mz. Rothschild's book. Even going so far as to be typing on the iPhone while watching Part 1 of your interview for "A Beautiful Mind" on Life Today. You will think of all new ways of utilizing the Internet in your hands…like price comparisons of items in one store while you are standing in another. Enough iPhone raving. Have fun with it.

    Happy Birthday!

    Beth,
THANK YOU FOR COMING TO PITTSBURGH! We enjoyed having you so much and praise God for the blessed event. I have been singing the worship songs all weekend long. I enjoy every bit of insight into your family and marriage. It inspires a young mother and wife. Maybe in the future a study might blossom from your wonderful “hard loved” marriage? My mother-in-law and I especially liked seeing pictures of your granddaughter in her pink tutu. My daughter is 7 months old and now Grandma has some new ideas as to what she can give her granddaughter next! This was my mother-in-law’s first time seeing you and she fell in love. She made the comment that she wished we could all come home with you and be your friends. I told her that you already consider us friends and we will see you in our heavenly home worshiping the “one who is and is to come” HOLY, HOLY, HOLY, IS THE LORD GOD ALMIGHTY!!!
Happy Birthday to you! Here’s to another year of abundant blessings.
Thanks again for all you give to us!

I just wanted to share how God worked this weekend in Pittsburgh in my life. 9 months ago, my 4th blessing came into my life named Leslee Ann. When Leslee was 9 days old I was admitted into the hospital in congestive heart failure. Come to find out my pregnancy had caused a condition called peripartum cardiomyopathy. I was put on bed rest for 3 1/2 months and was left with a lot of uncertainties. It was a very hard storm in my life-the thought of not being around to raise my four beautiful children haunted me continually. I was letting satan win the battle in my mine. Last week my cardiologist called and said since September my heart has improved 15%-even when life paints a dark picture in your life-God is always faithful to show you He is in control. I want to thank Beth for following God there is no doubt in my mind I was meant to be there "for such a time as this"

Beth, First off Happy Birthday Girlfriend!!! May God continue to richly bless you!
I just have to share with you that a group of women (15) from our church in Tintern, Ontario, Canada, travelled to Pittsburgh this weekend to participate in LPL.
We all walked away renewed in His Word, uplifted and more perpared to face our storms.
I'll also have you know that we did stop in Grove City, PA to shop (because after God that's our next favorite thing!). Anyway while we were shopping a small storm rolled in and when my sister and I walked out of the store we looked up and saw the most beautiful glowing with color full rainbow we'd ever seen. Then a second full rainbow began to faintly appear. Everyone was looking up admiring the rainbows and then we looked at each other and said "what a perfect ending to The PERFECT STORM".
We truly serve an AWESOME GOD!

…17; you seem like you are a teenager! And you look about 25, I am not kidding, you are gorgeous Beth!
My brother always jokes with my mom (who has an amazing relationship with her grandkids – 10 and 12) that when their together, he says, "there they are, 10, 11, and 12!"
Referring to my mom as the 11 yr old. But I'd say, she's about 17 too!

The proposal floored me – I love watching moments like that. I am a single siesta and during this summer I am doing a study on the Song of Soloman with Tommy Nelson – I believe. I swear, he reminds me of one of those strong, Christ-loving Texas men – something like how James Robison would be, or your Mr. Moore. But in this study we are seeing what attraction, dating, courting, etc. looks like when God is numero uno – as I want Him to forever be. Seeing a man of God such as Kevin – do things right, just enforces the fact that it is possible to find someone like that and that it is a blessing this siesta is NOT going to stop wrestling for, I'm holding on this time for this blessing.

Happy Birthday Beth! I'm glad to hear you had a wonderful Pittsburgh experience! Tell Kevin and Ash Congrats!

This post just blew me away last night as Wayne & I and our son & DIL returned to their home in C. Springs after a wonderful weekend camping (no electricity or running water) at Lake Pueblo just so. of the Springs. We went to bed around 11 pm on Friday night–our son's yellow lab and 2 yo brittany spaniel all tucked in in their tent with them. (Completely zipped in!!) Around 2:45 am I heard our DIL up calling for Bailey, the 2 yo! She had unzipped the tent about 5 in. and crawled out. We searched the area until after 4 am and headed back to bed. We searched all day Saturday to no avail! Jess was completely heart broken when we went to bed that evening. Early Sunday morning a wonderful park ranger came up and said that someone had called in a red & white spaniel running loose in their area. I've never seen
human beings move as fast as this group did!! Even Cassidy(9 yo lab) was ready to roll!! We all did a lot of Praising our wonderful Jesus. He had answered many prayers that night that He would protect her until we could get out again with the sunrise! They wanted someone to stay with the camp, just in case she came back. Cassidy(lab)& I sat and prayed! But I can't tell you how many times you and your Sunny story came to mind–actually I don't think it left my mind this weekend! Wayne's either, he mentioned it several times. Thank you for the confidence you've instilled in me through your studies, your blogs, and your love for our Savior! I give God all the credit but you get the hugs! (although they're cyber hugs, they're real!) Yes, we saw God in our entire weekend and the outcome of His blessings!

Before we packed up, Brad wanted to take Cass down to the lake so she could work on her water retrieval. Wayne & I hadn't seen her water skills, so this was really fun for us. (like watching the grandkids play t-ball or ballet!) She did awesome, but Bailey couldn't stand it–she dove right in after Cass on every retrieve. She couldn't get the hang of grabbing the stick tho! If she got tired, she would climb on Cassidy's back and ride in with her!! It was a hoot watching them!!

Bailey is one very tired, 'happy to be home' puppy and we're extremely grateful!!

Sorry this got so long, I just needed to share! I know you understand our pain and now joy!!

    Beth,
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you for coming close enough to be able to see you! You blessed my socks, off lady!!

I have to tell you that I had been in a storm for about a year and am finally coming out of it (God willing). You see I was pregnant last year and just SO excited for my third child. We found out at about 12 weeks that she had a problem that the Dr's thought was indicative of Downs Syndrome. We had testing done, but miscarried at 15 weeks… this was MOST devastating! I plummeted into… I don't know where, but it was not good. The results of the testing we had done came back that she was 'genetically normal,' I was as confused as ever. Around the time of her original due date I found out that I was pregnant again, and again was ecstatic… only to miscarry again two weeks later. It was like Paul being bit by the serpent on Malta… I was devastated again yes, but I was NOT going to let the venom get in again! By God's grace and mercy I became pregnant again! (before I was really ready to think about 'trying' again) and am happy to say that I am 14 weeks and things look good (so far). When you were talking about that group of women who had lost a baby, it really struck a cord (and chalk it up to over-sized hormones… I was a bawling mess).

I definitely needed to hear what God had you say this weekend! The proposal was just icing on the cake! WOW And I must say that the music we tried to play on the way home (a two hour drive) just wasn't the same… your (Travis') worship team is the best!

Beth, I love you to bit and pieces, and I love how God uses you to speak to women! Thank you again for coming to PA!!!!

We walked away shaking our heads once again of the cobwebs..to a fresh outlook on life and given the word to battle and stay in faith to move forward in times of storms. You drove the Word, Beth…like a hammer hitting hard with each swing.

WOW. I don't know what else to say, but seeing how I'm a female, you just know I can say more! Although I love God's Word & your studies, I wasn't the most willing participant to come this weekend. I've been knocked down by the huge waves of the perfect storm of infertility, my son's illness & a husband's confession of hidden sexual addiction of which infidelity occurred (after 14 years of marriage and NO CLUE!). I know you were speaking straight from God to my heart. Which is funny because I'm on Session 1, Day 3 of Jesus the One & Only where you ask that exact question! Bless you for being led by the Spirit & bless my friend for encouraging me to go! And thank you, mostly, for the rememberance of believing in the thing that God told me he would do. Sadly, my belief has waned over the years since I first believed he would do what he said he would. I have renewed that belief & will start praying for it again!

    Blessed Birthday greetings to you!

    Dearest Beth
here it is Wednesday and it is still hard for me to think of our time in Pittsburgh without welling up in tears. It was the most joyous time I think I have ever spent. Everything was so wonderful I think we all got a glimpse of what heaven will be like. (including the bride & the bridegroom)The worship was incredible and your teaching was truly inspired. I will never read the account of Paul and the shipwreck in the same way again. We have been in the perfect storm for 2 years now and are coming out of it. Everything you said was true, we have seen God do amazing things daily and it has only brought us closer to him as we weathered it. Now I can thank God for the storm but when it started I thought we would never survive.
Thank you again for the most wonderful time, for your dedication to the Word, and your love for us. You go glitter girl!!

I was SO excited when I knew you were coming to Pittsburgh!! I have had tickets since September. I cannot tell you how much you have impacted my life and now I have my husband watching you, too, and he has been greatly blessed by you (and God has even taken away any jealousy I should feel since we are the same age and you are so beautiful!!!).

No other ministry has left me with the joy and comfort that yours has. I feel like you are a close friend and I could just sit and listen to you all day. When I feel fear I always picture you in my mind and see and hear you saying things so boldly from the word of God – as if you are looking directly at me – and my anxiety subsides.

You have made me see things in scripture that used to be a story I would pass right over. You have such a wonderful gift of bringing scripture to life!!!!! I keep reading that chapter of Acts over and over!!! I can't wait until the study you did last weekend is available.

Last Saturday afternoon after I got back from your conference in Pittsburgh I took my 6 year old granddaughter to the store with me. We were riding along and we saw a huge wooden fish on the side of a house that had the letters "WWJD" on it. She asked me what it meant and I told her that it means "What Would Jesus Do?"

Not a minute later we came across two groundhogs nibbling on something on the side of the road. I swerved a bit around them so as not to hit them. She immediately said, "Grandma, that's something that God would do. He wouldn't run over those groundhogs either." New meaning for a godly woman – won't run over a groundhog!! That moment has been going thru my head all week – and God has let me know that every little thing I do is noticed by the eyes of someone. God even cares for groundhogs – think how much He wants me to care for others.

    AND – belated happy birthday!!!

Living Proof staff thank you so much for helping my sister, who recently had back surgery andis disabled, be able to attend!
She was able to lay across several chairs, with pillows for support.
What you don't about her is that she was the one who started many ladies doing Beth's studies in churches from York to Harrisburg PA. She has been a huge servant in the church, serving as a youth coordintor for the NE dist. of the US for our church, church secretary for many years and womans bible study leader, teaching sometimes three different groups a week. So you see we were extremely greatful for the effort made for her to be able to attend.
We were also greatly blessed by our experience. Thank you for all the hard work and sacrifice that made this moving event successful!

    Hi Beth,
I attended the Pittsburgh conference. You have no idea what a blessing it was. The day that I left for Pittsburgh, my husband moved out. It was quite sudden and unexpected. I am convinced that that conference was for ME! From the time Travis came out and said he knew there were people attending that had just experienced an out of the blue, life changing event. Wow! God is the only way he would have known. The whole conference fit! Even what you said about your husband not regularly attending churh…it has been a big battle in my home. If ever I have seen a divine appointment, this was it. My husband is still gone, I am convinced it is simply the enemy, he has his claws in deep. But I am praying for restoration and healing, and God's will to be crystal clear.

Thank you so much for your ministry. You have touched my heart so deeply. Your Bible teaching is so unique, and effective. God has truly blessed you with a gift, thank you for choosing to use it to better all of us. Thank you for showing me God in all His awesomeness!
