A Greeting and a Song

Good Monday morning, my dear Siestas!

Thank you for praying for all of us at Living Proof Live in Stockton, California! God gave us a fresh revelation of His Son this weekend (out of Revelation, as a matter of fact) and what more could we possibly ask except for the courage to act on it? For any of you who were there, thank you so much for allowing us the privilege of being your servants. I’ve thought about you constantly since I got home. I loved seeing the myriad of you at In-n-Out. I wouldn’t leave California without an In-n-Out cheeseburger if my life depended on it.

There are certain songs I play and sing when I’m especially aware of Christ as the ultimate, uncontested love of my life OR if I’m especially in need of remembering. This is one of them. I have no idea how many times I’ve played it and Mark Schultz has no idea how many times I’ve sung back up for him. Not that he’d want to hire me and take me on the road or anything. But if he did, I’d walk one thousand miles, one thousand miles it’s true, if he were heading straight to Jesus.

I would walk 1,000 miles
1,000 miles it’s true
I would walk 1,000 miles
Just to be with You

[Chorus]‘Cause you’ve got my heart and you’ve got my soul
You’ve got this promise too
I would walk 1,000 miles
Just to be with You

If I could live 100 years
Before my life is through
If I could live 100 years
I’d spend them loving You

[Chorus]Cause You’ve got my heart and you’ve got my soul
You’ve got this promise too
If I could live 100 years
I’d spend them loving You

If I could write 10,000 songs
10,000 songs it’s true
If I Could write 10,000 songs
I’d Sing them all for you

[Chorus]‘Cause you’ve got my heart and you’ve got my soul
You’ve got this promise too
If I could write 10,000 songs
I’d Sing them all for you

(Mark Schultz, 1000 Miles)

SO, Siestas, what song reminds you personally that Jesus is the love of your life? I wish we had room for all the lyrics but here’s what I’ll request instead: the name of the song, the artist and the one line that especially gets to you.

Let’s build each other up in the Spirit this Monday morning. Jesus is so worthy.

I love you, Siestas!

Constantly Abiding …an old hymn written in 1908 by Anne S. Murphy.
There's a peace in my heart
    that the world never gave
A peace it cannot take away.
    Though the trials of life
    May surround like a cloud
I've a peace that has come
    here to stay

Constantly abiding Jesus is mine, Constantly abiding rapture divine. He never leaves me lonely, whispers oh so kind I will never leave thee .. Jesus is mine.

My favorite reminder of His constant love for me.

My new favorite song by Dennis Jernigan

    Song: Come, King Jesus

    Bridge:

The King is coming on a horse of white! He will reign in power, He will reign in might. Jesus come! Jesus come! Jesus come! Let Your Kingdom come. The King is coming, let His church rise up! Let us declare to the darkness we have had enough! Jesus come! Jesus come! Jesus come! Let Your Kingdom come!

The Revelation song is my current favorite. Except when driving. It is hard to keep the car moving safely when both hands are lifted in praise to the Lord.

Thanks, Travis, for making this song a part of LPL.

O Taste and see that the Lord is good to me
You have turned my mourning into dancing

Several hymns, but one "song" comes to mind…"Shout to the Lord" by Darlene Z. (sp?) "nothing compares to the promise I have in You". Brings me to tears EVERY TIME! I first heard it at a Women of Faith event here in Seattle. I love all the Getty music too, especially "In Christ Alone".

"Days of Elijah", Robin Mark: Behold He comes, riding on the clouds, shining like the sun, at the trumpet sound. Lift your voice, it's the year of jubilee, out on Zion's hill, salvation comes!

    OVERCOME, I tell you!

And "All Things are Possible", Darlene Zschech: My feet are planted on this rock and I will not be shaken. My hope it comes from you alone, my God and my salvation! Your praise is always on my lips, yes I delight myself in you…

Can you listen to this song without dancing and your hands in the air???

I am a bit behind. Just found this today while looking for a Bible study on Beth's site. I REALLY need one right now! I have lots of songs that move me, but the most powerful ones right now are "I Will Rise" and "Cinderella," both by Chris Tomlin I think, as they remind me that God is always right there, lifting my out of the ashes of the ashes of my broken hopes and dreams, and inviting me to dance with him.

I have many favorite songs but two right now that speak volumes to me is "I Will Rise" sung by Chris Tomlin I think, and "Cinderella" also by Tomlin. Both of these songs remind me that God is lifting me out of the ashes of brokenness.

I already posted one, but this morning I was stopped dead in doing anything with a song. I think it may be on it's way to becoming a new favourite for me.

    "Beautiful" by Bethany Dillon

I want to be beautiful, make you stand in awe"
and then at the end of the song"
    "You make me beautiful"

The whole song is amazing, but those two lines and the difference between them was just something I need to hear. How often do we, as women, cry out the first line, and yet, we can rest assured that our Lord and Savior does make us beautiful. I definitely needed that this morning.

From Hillsong's For All You've Done Album

    With All I Am

Into your hand I commit again,All I am, for you Lord. You hold my world, in the palm of your hand, and I am yours, forever.
Chorus: Jesus, I believe in you. Jesus, I belong to you. You're the reason that I live, the reason that I sing, with all I am.
I'll walk with you, wherever you go, through tears and joy, I'll trust in you. And I will live, in all of your ways and your promises, forever.
    Chorus
I will worship. I will worship you.

Its hard to pick just one but here goes. I'm picking "Mighty is the Power of the Cross" by Chris Tomlin.

What can lead the wayward home?
What can melt a heart of stone?
What can free the guilty ones?
    What can save and overcome?
    Overcome

"Mighty, awesome, wonderful is the Holy Cross. Where the Lamb lay down his life to lift us from the fall. Mighty is… the power of…
    the Cross."

    Oh, how I need Him!

    Dependence – Jamie Slocum

…Just to know that you love me
gives me hope to carry on,
what can this world do to me?
Just to know that you're with me
and all these roads I travel on,
when all I have is gone,
    I confess
    my dependence on you….

Actually, I *LOVE* every part of this song. In my season of life, it is one of several songs that are ringing in my head when i wake up in the morning.

    nedlami says:

I'm a little late in the game but since music is one of the strongest ways in which God speaks to my heart, I couldn't pass up an opportunity to speak on it. So many times He has caught me off guard and slipped something into a song that He knew my heart was simply too hard to hear any other way, but I doubt any will be like the time I heard the song "By your side" by Tenth Ave. North — the gentle glow of His light penetrating the pitch blackness. It's so hard to pick just one line, but I'll try to exercise a lil self discipline 🙂

"when I drank the world's sin so I could carry you in and give you life- I want give you life."

"Arise, My Soul Arise" – modern version of the old Wesley hymn as found here

With confidence I now draw nigh,
With confidence I now draw nigh,
    And 'Father, Abba, Father,' cry.

Also, the other day I found a Christmas CD in my car and figured that in this SWELTERING HEAT a little Christmas would be good. I played Little Drummer Boy – the Joan Jett version no less. Fill Me Up
    (Don Poythress/Jared Anderson)

Jesus, I am thirsty, I am learning
How to hunger for more of you
You are the water, and you offer
Life that is making me new
    Spirit come

Fill up my lungs with air
    My voice with prayer
    And my mouth with praise
Fill up my heart with song
    For the journey is long
    And I need your strength
Jesus, your love is more than enough
Come and fill me, fill me up.

Jesus, I need mercy, I need cleansing
From the burden of so many sins
You are the water, and I offer
All of my life into your hands

You are rain to the dust
You are healing to the broken
You are life, won't you come

I have discovered your blog just this morning as I finish reading your newest book…curious to know what was going on in your blog on June 29, 2009, I am so touched by the song you posted. Around 8 am, nine months ago today, my closest friend was taken to be with Jesus in a car accident. The lyrics of "Come Thou Fount" have carried me these several months. I have listened to chris rice's version more times than I could begin to count! Something about his clear and peaceful voice makes the song that much more comforting!
"O that day when freed from sinning,
    I shall see Thy lovely face;
Clothed then in blood washed linen
    How I’ll sing Thy sovereign grace;
Come, my Lord, no longer tarry,
    Take my ransomed soul away;
Send thine angels now to carry
Me to realms of endless day."
