A New President

My Dear Siestas, I can’t think of anything more appropriate and more Biblical than reserving this day on our blog for heart-felt prayers for our new president and his family. You are welcome to write your genuine words of intercession as a comment to this post just as you’d lift them before the Throne of Grace for President and Mrs. Obama and their two precious daughters. Today it makes no difference how anyone voted. God in His sovereignty has appointed this day and our new president needs our prayers. “This is good, and pleases God our Savior.” 1 Timothy 2:1-3.

Oh Lord, most High and most Sovereign God, I pray that you would bless our President, Barack Obama and his family. It is my prayer that he would look to you for guidance and wisdom. You have placed him in this place of authority “for such a time as this”. I pray that you would place a hedge of protection about him, Michelle, Sasha and Malia.

In the mighty, matchless name of Jesus, amen

God you are so good and out of the abundance of heaven we are blessed. Sometimes it’s difficult to recogonize your abounding blessing when they come to us in a different way than we may have expected, yet I believe that You are a God who will work ALL things together for our good. You have the very best plan for your people and for those who have been called according to the promise. We are called for your purpose and yours alone and so today I rejoice in those promises and thank you that YOU will work them all out in your way and in your time. I pray for a spirit of revelation and knowledge and a heart of wisdom for President Obama and the entire administration, so that they will be equipped to lead our country and this people to a future filled with abundance and continued saftey. Be a shield around about them Lord and give them teachable hearts and teachable spirits. Keep them humble in the midst of a society that tends to praise the accomplishments of man more than the very God who created them. You are the God who bestows favor and exalts us in due season. I ask for a headge of protection around our countries first family and pray that no weapon forged against them will prosper. May you use each one of us to be your servants and cupbearers now and may you find us faithful to that end.

In your sweet name Jesus, Amen.

    In His Love,

Lord, As I get ready to retire for the evening I conclude my day of prayer for our new president and his family. I pray for wisdom, guidance, discernment for him. I pray that if he is not a TRUE believer that he will find you as his personal Savior and that he will turn toward you in the matters that will be his. Lord lastly, I pray for his opinion on abortion and that he will change his heart through your help. THank you Lord and help us all to remember that we are to pray for our leaders and respect our leaders whether we agree or not but support them. Father again, i pray for their safety tonight and the next 4 years. Help us not forget to lift he and his family and the VP and family up to you daily. Thank you for your son Jesus….It’s because of HIM and your sacrifice that I praise you and love you, Amen

I was in the balcony tonight at Bible study when you had us join hands and pray for our new President. I couldn’t help but sneak a peek at the thousands of diverse women around me uniting in prayer and wishing I could take a snapshot and give it to President Obama. I think he would have loved it!

Father in Heaven, I confess I have not had the Christian thoughts and attiudes about my new President as I should have. Forgive me and thank you for opening my eyes to see that I shouldn’t measure one man by a few that seem to dwell on past wrongs done to them. Bless my new President and his family. Cover him with your protection and surround him with Godly council during his tenure. Thanks for gifting me with the blessing of living in this great country! Carla

Dear Holy God, I praise your name. I ask you to forgive us as a nation who has many times failed You. Tonight, I come asking You to make the hearts of our country’s people humble and loving towards each other. May we take a servants attitude. May President Obama’s time in office be a time of a great revival. May the president and country draw close to You. May he seek Your face in every decision and every action of his and his staff. Holy God, I am praying for the revival to be soon –very soon. I am asking in faith that there will be godly heroes that arise from our country that edify and glorify You. God please help Christians stand up for you when clearly ideas and actions are not of you. Help us to be vocal when you desire us to be and silent when you desire us to be. Holy God, please be with Obama’s family, also. As he leads us, let him lead his family to see your greatness and power by way of seeking you with all of his heart.

Beth, I know these comments were for prayers for our president, but I just had to pop on here and tell you something. I started your Esther study tonight with some ladies from church. We watched the introductory video, and I LAUGHED my head off. At times I wanted to cry, because I could SO relate, but I was with the girls, and didn’t want to do the “ugly cry”. But man, did I laugh. I can’t wait until my book gets here so I can get started. It’s going to be a great study, I can tell. Thank you so much for doing it. I know it was a lot of work for you, but I could tell by what you said in the video that it was a JOY for you. Can’t wait to learn from what God laid on your heart.

    Love, Kathy

    Sovereign Lord,
Thank You, Father, for this day of historic change. I thank You that You have always looked beyond the color of skin to the soul. I pray that You would bless this new president, Father, with success in those things that are in line with Your will and Your way. I pray that You give Him wisdom and discernment, humility and love as he leads this nation. I pray that his wife be used by You to further Your kingdom in this, her time as the First Lady. I pray for those precious little girls ~ that You would lessen the glare of life in a fish bowl and protect their innocence and childhood. I ask that You be the shield for the whole family. I pray, Lord, that you would bless President and Mrs. Bush as they move to a new phase of life. And, Father, I thank You that I live in a country where divisive politics still results in a peaceful transfer of power. God, most of all, I ask that as one president moves in and one moves out, that You, Lord, would take up permanent residence in every nook and cranny of the White House so that in 4 years we as a nation, as well as individually, will look more like You and that we will have brought great glory and honor to You ~ for You alone are worthy.

    Lord,
This was the first time I watched the inaguration of a President. I did not vote in the election, but can see how powerful an action that was for millions of Americans. I was in awe of the people who came to support our new President. Lord, I pray protection over his family. I pray he is surrounded by calm, educated and peaceful advisors. I pray the world accepts him as the agent of change our nation believes he is. I pray strength for Michelle. I pray the girls still have opportunities to be little girls. I pray the limelight of the next four years doesn’t produce or harbor any ills against this family. Lord I pray the President makes decisions based in faith. That he looks to you for guidance. Lord I pray this nation gives him the opportunity for change and is patience with what may lie ahead. I am thankful for this democratic nation and the ability to choose. Let us never forget that is the one thing we always have.

    Good Morning Beth –
I am not sure exactly where to post this so you all can move it to where it needs to be but I had to share this morning.
I was motivated to take up your Scripture memorization challenge. I have always been able to remember the verse & not the address or vice versa. I decided that this was going to be the time that I begin to change that in my life.
Your advice to us to pick verses that we need was excellent. I did that for my 1st verse & also this
2nd time. And that is what I want to share. For this 2nd time I picked Isaiah 64:4,5.
My mom has been diagnosed with cancer & today we go to the surgeon's office to find out the results of the 13 biopsies which will determine what further surgery will now be needed & the course of treatment. I sat down to read my devotional this morning as I needed to hear soemthing from God to give me some strength & encouragement. The devotional I am reading is Charles Stanley's – I use his magazine but you can also check it out on his site. Today's was excellent, exactly what I needed to read. But the 3rd paragraph just blew me away as it contained the very portion of Scripture that I am memorizing – Isaiah 64:4!!!! I cannot even express what this has done to my faith this morning.
We have such an amazing God!!! We throw the word "amazing" & "awesome" around so cavalierly these days. May we have eyes to see when He is truly doing the amazing in our lives.
I thank you so much for challenging me to Scripture memorization. I wanted to share to encourage everyone to keep going!! And pick verses that you NEED & watch & see what God will do in & through His Word which is soooo alive & active in each one of His children!!!

    Blessings on you all!!
