Happy Thanksgiving Week!

Let the giving of thanks and the feasting begin! Happy Thanksgiving week, everyone! LPM is closed for the week, so I’m not sure how much activity there will be on the blog. I definitely want to take advantage of our five days off. What a blessing! You know what is so awesome? My hubby has these five days off, too! So for the first time in our marriage, we have a whole week off of work to just spend at home. We are normally in Wyoming or Missouri for Thanksgiving, but this year we just get to have a staycation.

I feel certain that these three things will happen this week:
1) Our Christmas lights, Clark Griswold style, will go up. Curtis normally does this over a span of several days. Our little oak tree was completed last night. I’m looking forward to seeing his “vision” for our new house come into fruition.
2) I will make butterscotch haystacks with the intention of taking them to our neighbors. Hopefully I won’t get lazy and keep them all! That would not be good for Pregnant Girl’s figure.
3) We will get some work done on Jackson’s big boy room and the baby’s nursery. And by work I mean we will order some furniture, which we should have done long ago.

As for the rest of the Moore clan, my parents have been at their ranch since Friday. I spoke to my dad this morning and he said they weren’t ready to come home and, in fact, they just wanted to live there forever. (My mother later debunked this statement. They’re coming home tomorrow.) I simply cannot imagine my mom living in a place where there are no people to witness her good hair days and well accessorized outfits. She needs witnesses! And I’m not talking about deer, steer, and wild hogs.

Melissa and Colin are saving their travel days for Christmas, so they are not coming home for Thanksgiving. We’ll miss them so much, but they will be spending Thursday with some dear friends and will have a blast.

Also – this is so exciting – Curtis and I are expecting to get a phone call any day that his sister is in labor with her firstborn. We can’t wait to meet our sweet little nephew.

Have a great Monday, friends!

Amanda, Thank you for your realistic update! Makes us feel like part of the family! Wonder if we could do a posting on family Thanksgiving traditions, other than going around the table and saying what you are thankful for (which is great, just not out of the ordinary). I’m looking for something that would be meaningful for both believers and non (and still point them to Christ). Thanks, Love a Sister in Missouri

Happy Thanksgiving to the extended Moore clan.

I put my foot down this year and said NO CLARK GRISWOLD decorations. Apparently, I have been totally ignored as there are two big, brand new boxes of C9 (the megatrons of lights) sitting on the counter. That’s right…right out in the open. He didn’t even try to hide them. The nerve! lol

I am so doing whatever I want to the INDOOR tree this year…

    Hugs and blessings!

    Enjoy the Thanksgiving!
My own husband’s summed up his definition of when our house meets decoration standards (and I quote), “If it looks like someone threw up Christmas, then we’re done. Until, keep stringing stuff.”

Oh, how fun! I’m tired alrdeady and our activities haven’t really began. We’ve just had teeth cleanings and then found out our son, Jeremiah, has an infection in one of his teeth and it has to be pulled. So, I’ll be going to the dentist again tomorrow. Also, I had to take my car to the shop to get new breaks. And delivering popcorn that people ordered from my son for Cub Scouts. And laundry, laundry, laundry! We’ll be leaving for my parents home in Oregon on Wednesday. They live on a ranch. Much like Beth, not anywhere I would want to live. My children would just as soon stay, but not me. Of course, I grew up there and now live in town with the people like I like it and my children would rather be there. The grass is always greener!

Amanda, I am off for the entire week too….oh glorious! The benefits of being a teacher!
This week is always filled with decorating for Christmas so I am exicted to put the music in the player, the cider on the stove, and start untangling lights!

Yes, Honea Household, there IS a difference between spanish peanuts and “regular” peanuts.

Go to the aisle with the nuts….you’ll see. Spanish peanuts are a little more rounder than the others and they always have the little “skins” on them….which almost always get stuck on your teeth and you don’t know till it’s WAY too late.

Happy Thanksgiving to the Moores, Jones, and Fitzpatricks and all of you Siestas. Amanda, have a great time decorating "two" new rooms in your new home! What kind of outdoor lights is Clark, uh, Curtis putting up? We're having that discussion and can't decide what kind to use!

One of the things I'm most grateful for this year is our new home, that also came with "deer, steer and wild hogs"! Who knew that right in the heart of Texas one could have all that! I sat with my eyes glued to two doe and three fawn that gracefully crossed the barbed wire fence into our backyard a couple of nights ago!! It was so awesome! I know this is huntin' season here, but please…not in my yard :0) I love all God's critters, they just make me smile!!

    Love & Thanksgiving blessings,

Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday! No gifts, no huge decorations – just food, family, friends, and fun. I’m so very thankful that God dropped me into my very own special family. We may not be normal (trust me on that one), but we are loved dearly by each other. I’m also so very grateful to this ministry for growing me in grace and in the Word. If you only knew the treasures I’ve received by doing these studies…

We Canadians have had our Thanks Giving long past, but that really is only one day, We can be Thankful today with you our American Sisters. I pray you all have kind and gentle days today.
Reading your comments about your parents being away and you not being able to picture your mum not having people around yet your Dad willing to just check into that place of quiet is so like myself and my husband. We head south in a little bit and he would be there in Florida for 3 months straight where as I am not near ready for that, I love overseeing my ladies in groups I love Nacho’s with my girlfirends and coffee and muffins with others I love seeing my children and grandchildren, I love most of what happens in my life, so many ladies so many ways to help. So many ways to listen, and hey even having my hair straight and not in big Puffy Frow is good to know as well.(Frows happen in Florida……)
    Happy Thanks Giving LPM ladies.
