You Get an A!

Hi siestas! My mom is getting ready for Bible study tonight, so I have the honor of announcing the winner of our Pop Quiz. I used an online random integer generator to pick the winner. I’d have a picture of the number on my computer screen for you like I’ve seen BooMama do, but my camera battery died! Oh well. Get to the point, right?

The winner of the ESV Study Bible is Lauri Wasmuth!

*Applause and cheers for Lauri*

Bethie was so proud of all your comments that she wanted to give out five more prizes. The winners will receive the devotional book John: 90 Days With the Beloved Disciple.

Our next five winners are:
1) Christine at “Christine’s Corner”
2) Trish Wagner
3) Sue in Las Vegas
4) Gene54
5) Twinkle

*Applause and cheers for these five siestas*

Thanks for playing ladies! Have a wonderful Tuesday!

I too loved reading all the scriptures God blessed my siestas with in their private devotions. For a fleeting moment the sinful flesh in me (ashamed to admit it) wanted to fake it and give a scripture. so glad I didn’t!! What did happen was I woke up this morning and had my private time with the Lord. HE IS MY PRIZE!!!!

I think, gifts aside, that sharing our morning time verse once a week or once a month is a great way to learn verses. Just reading over some of them was so encouraging to me and I absolutely loved it.

Congrats to all the winning Siestas! I hope you delight in your gifts!

I was very tempted to enter yesterday by quickly getting in the Word and making up something. But, thankfully, God kept me in truth and kept me from commenting (which is a task since I have way too many words!). I would’ve felt guilty every time I opened any Bible if I had!! It was soooooo refreshing to read all the comments. I think I needed 99% of them personally!

And, thank ya’ll for saying no condemnation to those who hadn’t gotten to the Word yesterday morning. WOW, I really would love one of those new Bibles. It seems to be everywhere I turn!!

    Terri says:

I missed the fun, but need to share from yesterday’s Quiet Time–
Psalm 21:1 O Lord, in Thy strength the king will be glad, And in Thy salvation how greatly he will rejoice. NASB
Then I looked up the word “glad” in Zodiahates and have written in the margin of my Bible–
glad-samah-to rejoice, to be joyful, to be glad, to gloat.
Isn’t that awesome?! I get to gloat in the strenth of the Lord. Oh, He is good!

Congratulations, Siestas! Like anonymous at 11:29 said, I loved reading the comments and hearing what other people are learning. It encourages me to press on in my own study…

With my competitive nature, I wanted to win the new Bible and then I realized, wait I got mine through Amazon on the 15th and don’t need two! I am so excited to have it and I think I have been in the word almost everyday, something I enjoy anyway! It is so great. With the purchase you also get free online access to the ESV Bible too. I expect this to be one of the last Bibles I “need.” The notes are awesome!

    Applauding and Cheering!!!

I didn’t see the pop quiz till 15 minutes after it closed. That’s ok. One (and there are many!) of the things that Beth has encouraged me to do is….have a MORNING QT!! It has been wonderful…and such a blessing to me.

How did she get me to do it? She said “His mercies are new every morning…Who couldn’t use some new mercy every morning?!”

    Congrats again, ladies!

Congrats, girls! I LOVED the comments on that post..Just bummed I missed the five hour window..:)

Can’t wait to get my hands on that Bible. I had it picked up at LifeWay the other day but as usual, I was on sensory overload. Am I the only one who will fill her basket, get overwhelmed at how much it’s all going to cost, not know which to choose, and end up putting it all back?

    Freakish, I know.

I literally got FACE DOWN on the floor today and I cannot tell you how sweet of a time I had with my Savior during my quiet time. Praise God…. yeeee haaaaw!

I also loved reading all of the comments yesterday, and also participating. I think this would be a great thing to do once per week. Hey, I may just start doing it on my own blog (without the giveaway). I wouldn’t have 300+ comments like Mrs. Beth had, but it would be a lot of fun to read the comments that the 4-5 people that DO read my blog had ๐Ÿ™‚

Can anyone tell me about the ESV version? Is it a translation or a paraphrase? I tend to not like the paraphrases, and I know that some of the translations have been scewed in recent years to be more “feminist friendly”. Just wondering if anyone can tell me about this one…… you can leave comments at my blog or leave them here. Thanks!!!!

Congratulations to all the winning siestas! Contests make life so exciting! Of course, it helps if you remember the directions before you post! I resubmitted mine because I hadn’t kept it to one sentence, then recalled I wasn’t supposed to submit but once. Dang! Can I blame that on menopause??? LOL!

I’m sad that I missed the quiz. I did really enjoy reading all of the posts that everyone shared. They were very inspirational to me. I thought I would share a scripture that God gave me a couple of months ago.
A few years ago I went through a period of betrayal, rejection, hurt, and deception by someone very close to me. It was THE MOST difficult thing I’ve ever had to deal with but I clung to the LORD and he was there with me the entire time(a few years) I was crying my eyes out over my broken heart.
I am happy to say that within the past 6 months things have been better and there has been much healing in this relationship. God has been so good to me.
Anyway, sometimes I find myself remembering one of those painful days or have a bad memory pop up in my mind and I would have to struggle to not get angry and let the hurt crush me again.
So this is what God gave me. I treasure it and I read it everytime that old hurt comes around again. It speaks so much to the exact thougts I was having.
    “Forget the former things;
do not dwell on the past.
See, I am doing a new thing!
Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wastland.” Isaiah 43:18-19
I must praise Him that he would love and care for each of us in such a deep and personal way.
I am thankful that I read the blog today. ๐Ÿ™‚

I agree with everyone else, this was a really great pop quiz though I didn’t get into it in time to do it… the comments were awesome. I would love to have it again… a pop quiz like this… and yes, there doesn’t have to be a prize at all… the prize was being able to read how God has been moving in everyone’s lives!

    Love to you all,

Congratulations sisters! “The Beloved Disciple” was one of my favorite studies. Beth, thanks again for the opportunity to share. I hope we can do this again soon. No prizes necessary. I also hope I’m not the only one who doesn’t know what the acronym ESV stands for? When I was out shopping, obviously not at Lifeway, I looked for a copy, but was unable to get my hands on one so I couldn’t look at the title page and find out. I have a new nephew due to arrive this weekend and was looking for a first Bible to give to him. Any suggestions?
