Pop Quiz!

5 hours up. Comments now closed. This is one of my favorite sets of comments EVER. I have such a respect for your relationships with Christ. Keep seeking Him and finding Him, Beloved Ones. You are the apple of His eye. We will announce the winner of the new ESV Study Bible tomorrow. Thank you so much for your participation on this post. If I could send every single one of you this new Bible, I’d do it in a heart beat. I love you so.

Hi, Siestas!

This is a pop quiz! Who got into the Word this morning? If you did, stay tuned to the remainder of this post and find out what we want you to do. If there is anything on earth Living Proof Ministries exists to do, it’s to encourage people to get into God’s Word and come to love Him through its life-breathing pages. I am a huge believer in starting the day with Christ in Scripture even if we only have ten minutes. I love Isaiah 50:4! It says, “The Sovereign Lord has given me an instructed tongue, to know the word that sustains the weary. He wakens me morning by morning, wakens my ear to listen like one being taught.” SO, if you made time for a Word from God this morning, here’s what we’d like you to do. Please post a BRIEF comment with the following information:

1. One verse from your quiet time, written out for your Siestas to read and receive. (Even if you read a whole chapter, please write out only one of the Scriptures. It will be fun to see if any of us read the same segment!)

2. A one-sentence description of something you got from your time with God this morning (i.e., the assurance that He’s still on His Throne, or that He wants you to follow through with something, or that He’s simply with you in your struggle, etc.).

Absolutely no condemnation for those that didn’t get a chance to get into Scripture this morning; BUT, we are asking that all comments to this post be limited to ONLY THOSE WHO DID. We’re doing a drawing from those entries. We are giving away a copy of the brand new ESV Study Bible that hit the shelves only two weeks ago. We’ve been talking in our Lit class about the importance of reading several different versions especially if you’ve become so familiar with one that you can nearly anticipate what familiar portions are going to say. Not only is the ESV a great translation, this one is complete with study notes. SO, every siesta who had her quiet time this morning and posts her comment will automatically have a chance at the drawing. Get on quickly because we’re closing this post in five hours!! That’s the “pop” part in this quiz. We’ll post the winner of the new ESV Study Bible tomorrow and ask for her to contact us with her address. I love little incentives like this. Hope you do, too!

I love you, Siestas! Stay in the Word! You never know what God may have for you!

PS. Only 45 minutes have passed and, Sisters, these entries are FANTASTIC!! I am so blessed by all those Scriptures and by how God is speaking them over you. Take a few minutes and read all of these, Siestas! It’s like eating off each other’s plates! You’re also keeping them to the perfect length. Way to go!! Keep them coming. (Only one entry per person, of course) You have till 7:00 PM CST until the comments close. I LOVE THIS ONE!

    beyond this moment says:

Psalm 9:10 Those who know Your name will trust in You for You, O Lord, have never forsaken those who seek You.

God reminded me this morning that the times I feel forsaken are the times when *I* have turned from *Him* and not the other way around. All I have to do is seek Him. My God is faithful even when I am not.

“The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and the evil man brings evil things out the evil stored up in his heart. For out of the overflow of his heart his mouth speaks.” Luke 6:45
I am trying so hard to live this out. I want my heart to be so pure that nothing ugly ever comes out of my mouth. Love to you!

Micah 4:10 “…for now you must leave the city to camp in the open field. You will go to Babylon; there you will be rescued. There the LORD will redeem you out of the hand of your enemies.” Micah 4:10

(I wasn’t sure if the 1st one posted. This is try 2.)
God has released or rescued me from the hand of my enemy, but He must redeem me or buy me back from the power of the enemy in order for the enemy to no longer exercise power over me(ie believe that I’m free and live it). Praise Him.

Isaiah 43:18-19 "Do not call to mind the former things, or ponder things of the past. Behold, I will do something new, now it will spring forth; will you not be aware of it? I will even make a roadway in the wilderness, rivers in the desert."

Just last night following our evening church service I was sharing with a young woman about the freedom we have in Christ–when we give our "stuff" over to Him, He miraculously lifts the burden and makes us free. Halleluah! Reading this verse this morning was such a great & timely confirmation of that truth.

Among the gods there is none like you, O Lord; no deeds can compare with yours. Psalm 86:8

He is incomparable! He said thousands of years ago, “Let there be light” and His Word keeps on going (“light, light, light . . . “). His Word is so powerful the universe is still being held together by those words.

    Romans 8:6
6 For the mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace.

Struggling with issues in my life that I know I should have victory over – God in His kindness reminded me today that I have a choice as to what I allow my mind to give thought to. One of two things – I can either think about the things of God and the Spirit – that which is eternal. OR I can think about the things of the flesh which are temporal and lead to death. It helped me today everytime I started to focus on the things of the flesh. I CHOSE to stop and begin praying and asking God to help me refocus.
    Hallelujah!

“His head and hair were white like wool, as white as snow, and his eyes were like blazing fire.”
    Rev. 1:14
My pastor used this passage on Sunday to say the Jesus is the keeper of the flame, Jesus is in charge of the church, surrender to Jesus, let Him be in control! I am constantly trying to control my day so boy did I need this message!

“Once again there was a battle between the Philistines and Israel. David went down with his men to fight against the Philistines and he became exhausted.” 2 Samuel 21:15 (NIV)

John 15:9 “Just as the Father has loved Me, I have also loved you: abide in My love.”

As I cry out to God for His healing of Stage III Melanoma I have the promise that Jesus loves me as much as God loves Him. That is more than I can comprehend. There is no one else that can love me that much. I can abide in His love. I feel his arms of love around me. I pray that I can love others the way Jesus loves me. I’ve been asking my Father for the few days to help me know how to stay close to Him, a way to stay in His Presence throughout my day. He showed me through this verse that I need an attitude of expectancy. I need to be ready at all times because He wants to see me open that door! Hallelujah!

Ephesians 6:5-8 "Slaves ovey your earthly masters with fear and trembling, with a sincere heart, as you would Christ, not only by way of EYE-SERVICE, AS PEOPLE-PLEASERS, but as servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart, rendering service with a good will as to the LORD and not to man, knowing that whatever good anyone does, this he will receive back from the LORD, whether he is a slave or free."

I wrote this: eye-service as opposed to from the heart – serve as unto the LORD – it all comes back to us!
I meditated on this: I do a lot of things with eye-service, meaning do as little as possible to get by. This scripture made me really think about not pleasing people (my husband today, as we had to work on cleaning and organizing some tough areas of the home!) but to just serve Jesus as I work. Great day – we got so much done and with so much pleasure & laughter! God is so good. I'd love to win this Bible, but I've already been rewarded today! 🙂
