Scripture Memory Competition Grand Prize Winner!

CALLING ALL SIESTAS: You don’t have to be part of our Siesta Summer Bible Study to memorize our Scripture segment for this summer. It’s Jude 1:24-25 because you and I want to make it through these three undisciplined months without falling on our behinds. By all means, everybody join us! And, trust me when I tell you, you SURE don’t have to be in the Bible study to get a kick out of the videos you’re about to see.

Speaking of which…

…Siestas, you nearly killed me. The videos were FANTASTIC! CREATIVE! FUNNY! To all those who submitted videos, you are the teacher’s pet! I have NEVER loved Siestaville more. You are the funniest people in the world. I have rocked back and forth, clapped my hands, slapped my knees, and over and over said, “Aren’t they DARLING???” Or, “Aren’t they willing????” I’m just crazy about you. Thank you so much for going to all the trouble to help your Siestas hide the Word of God in our hearts so that we might not sin against God. (Psalm 119:11) We want to seek You with all our hearts, O God. Do not let us stray from Your commands. (Psalm 119:10)

OK, here you have it: the grand prize winner of the 2008 Siesta Summer Bible Study Scripture Memory Competition!

That’s right. From Cool, California! And I know you think I was partial to them from the start because they had such a great city name but see for yourself. They did the work. And they can expect a care package in about a week from a very happy and grateful yours truly.

Here you also have the 1st Runner Up which I totally dug and these Siestas are from way outside the Bible belt. Way to go, Wyoming Siestas! Giddy up!

And, because I loved so many of them, I am going to post a different one every single week until the Bible study is over. That way you can 1) have creative and ongoing ways to practice your verse, and 2) see your Siestas’ handiwork. And know why I’m so in love with you right now. Again, these posts will be for all of Siestaville. You don’t have to be in the summer study to appreciate what you’re going to see.

Well. You danged well made my whole summer. And it started out a mighty painful one. May the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ continue to make His Son the greatest joy in our whole worlds.

Because there ain’t no high like the Most High.

I love you. I really do.

Patticakes , that touched me – the image of Jesus in flip-flops. Thank you for that. He came as one of us and if He were here today , .. yes , I can visualize flip-flops. So like us, yet fully God. Oh to be able to wrap my mind around it.

Remember when flip flops were called thongs … my daughter hushes me if I ever slip up and call the things by the wrong name.

XOXOXO to all of you . <><

This doesn’t really have to do with scripture memory – but I just searched your whole blog looking for wedding photos, but couldn’t find any?? Did I miss them or are there really not any posted?! I’m just curious, because I’d love to get to see them:)

    Hey Siestas,
Just FYI, there is an awesome song of our verse on the CD “Glory Revealed: The Word of God in Worship.” It is done by David Crowder and Shane & Shane. I have loved it for some time now and have memorized the verse from singing along. Enjoy!! PS the rest of the CD is awesome too! Love in Jesus, kim in PA

I absolutely loved these videos and I am sure I will get a kick out of those to come. I have to give my vote to the creativity of the runner up, it just was so incredible. How my Wyoming Siestas thought of each race and gender for gernerations and the creative storytelling, took my breath away. It also reminded me of something you would see on a childs educational program and I have to say, I always notice how the thought of children are so close to Jesus. Sensibly awe-inspiring.

You girls are such fun and you make a siesta proud. I so enjoy being in a community of Siestas who not only find the time but enjoy taking the time to go above and beyond for OUR LORD.
    I am inspired.

    God Bless You All

I just have to show the Jude 24-24 videos to my high school girls small group. They did their own creative version of that verse two weeks ago (I stole the idea from this site) and I think they’ll love seeing the flip flops and flip book. They are a great bunch of teenagers and I just love them to pieces.

Lately the Lord has really convicted me of how important it is to hide His Holy Word in my heart. I will admit that I have fought waves of jealousy over this bible study, wishing I could participate and wishing I had a great group of seistas to meet every week.Thank you for letting those outside of this circle be apart of it still! I will commit to memorizing these scripture verses (and any more you share)along with so many other women across this great country! Thanks again Beth!

I know I already left a comment, but I just realized something and had to share. I have been picking out a Bible verse to memorize every week. This week I added on to last weeks verse-Hebrews 4:12-13,16. The verse from the summer bible study, goes along with my other verse. Both verses talk about the throne of God but from two different perspectives; me, as the one going to the throne to find grace and mercy(Hebrews), the other from Jesus, who presents me before His glorious presence without fault and with great joy(Jude). How cool is that? I think I get the message-I need to spend more time on my knees!
