National Day of Prayer

If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. (2 Chronicles 7:14)

Today is the National Day of Prayer. My mom and dad are in Washington D.C. right now participating in the events. I would like to open up comments for anyone who feels led to post a brief prayer for our nation. Dr. Ravi Zacharias is this year’s Honorary Chairman for the National Day of Prayer Task Force. You can read his prayer for our nation here.

    Lord God,

Please help us to elect godly leaders, and to bring godly people to the forefront in this technological world of ours, in this country, who will follow Your guidance, and not just “the people” who want “change”…

We all want change, but not always the same kind of change. For me, Lord, this change would be to bring You out into the public eye more and more; as we may be a “prosperous country”, but there are many, many people here who are “poor in Spirit”, Father.

So many Americans are “prosperous” but do not know You, their God and Creator of all things, thus they are not prosperous at all, Lord God. Please guide those of us who do know You as our personal Lord and Savior to be bold enough to shine for Your glory, in whatever way[s] that You would have us to do in our lifetimes…

And, Lord God, I praise You that we actually DO have an opportunity to pray like this in our country. Please help us guide the younger generation to fall in love with You, O God, so that prayer may continue to reign in this country, precious Lord Jesus.

In Jesus’ precious name I pray these things, Amen

    Father,
I pray for our nation and for our nation’s leaders. I thank you that we have a President that serves you first. Lord, I pray you would awaken those of us who are called by your name to be a mighty example of your love, grace, forgiveness, holiness and mercy. May we be found faithful, in each of our communities, as your light and your salt to such a dark and unsalted world. Bring revival Lord, and start with me.

Daniel 9: 3-19 In reference to this passage:
Let us oh bride of Christ call out to God as Daniel did. Let us call out for those that are afar off, for those that are near. Let us not call out to Him after a disaster as Daniel spoke that they did, but let us call out to God before. Let us come in repentance of heart for the nations; for our nation.

2 Peter 3:1-9 (after reading this passage)

I truly believe the Lord has laid His word on my heart to share with those that hear. He is coming back soon. His return is not far off. Let us be reminded again today of this very truth.

    Libby says:

    Heavenly Father,

Lord, I come before You asking for forgiveness. We, the church, have failed. We truly are the Laodicean church spoke of in Revelations. Many are departing from the true faith and teaching heresies. Lord, I believe that all the horrendous things we are seeing in our nation are a result of the church’s failure to step up and be the light and salt of the earth. There are many professing christians who have gotten in bed with the world. The word of God is no longer sacred nor regarded as truth by those who would dare to call themselves by Your holy name. Our churches have become circus shows and self help centers focused on reaching out to “seekers”. Lord, we don’t even call them “lost” anymore so as not to offend. But You said that the cross of Christ would be an offense to those who were perishing. May You raise up bold, Godly men and women who will preach and proclaim the whole counsel of God – the fact that apart from You, we are sinners destined for an eternity in hell. That our hearts, by nature, are deceitful and desparately wicked. That we can do nothing on our own or in our own merits to warrant salvation. That the wonderful antidote to our grievous sin problem is the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. May we have more pastors who preach on repentance and hell so that there would be less false conversions. May You strenghthen us and give us the courage to live by and speak Your truth even when it causes great offense to the hearers. May You burden us with a love for the lost and a love for Your church. Oh God! I too, pray for revival in this nation, but Your word clearly states that judgment must come first to the house of God. Although I hate the thought of another terrorist attack or more catastrophic storms, I do believe these are on the way. May they be used to bring about true repentance within the body of Christ so that we may go out with pure hearts to live blameless in front of the world. I also believe persecution is coming for true christians in America. Lord, give us a love for You that surpasses all else so that we may reflect You in all facets of our lives and a lost world would see and want to know what it is that gives us our peace – even if it means a martyrs death. Lord, even though this nation is having a national day of prayer, I’m afraid many of our christian leaders have compromised and will not even pray in Jesus’ name. What an opportunity this could’ve been to be bold for Christ. Now we have this all inclusive day of prayer and do not want to offend anyone. Oh Dear God please forgive us. And Lord, I want to thank you for Beth who so dearly loves You and Your word and has a passion to have others love You and Your word. Keep her safe and sound during her travels.
    In Jesus’ name,
    Amen

    Adonai-

Bring it. Fire. Rain. Freedom! Open the gates… Oh that we may taste and see! Release us from the grip of fear. May we ONLY fear You! Speak holy temples! Bear the witness of the Most High! Be filled over and over! Pour out His work, His mercy… and His grace.

That we may take part… may we never be proud. Fill us, lead us, follow us… show us Your glory at work.

Faith in You. Dancing to Your glory alone. Teach us to follow Your lead.

Spare our nation in Your mercy we beg! May Your Word begat the filling we so desperately need! Expel the lies. Call us. May we all be moved towards You willingly.

    In Jesus name,
    Amen

Our Father Who Art in Heaven – Thank you for raising me up in this generation and for allowing me and my family to be citizens of the United States of America! Father, don’t ever let there be a day that I take my freedom for granted. Forgive me for becoming complacent in my prayers for this great nation. You have given me a beautiful granddaughter to remind me that I must continue to pray for the country she will be raised in, where she will raise her own family. God, you know my heart. Keep me faithful to pray for our country. Give wisdom and strength to our president, our elected officials, our men at war and their families. Bless this land Father! We love you and we praise your holy Name!
In Jesus’ Name I pray, Amen

    Holy Father,
You alone are the author and creator of all beauty. I thank You for the beauty You have given this land. Please forgive us for our ignorant arrogance. Forgive us for excluding prayer from our schools. Forgive us from excluding You from so many forms of “arts and entertainment”. We must remember that every good gift comes from You. You are the Alpha and Omega. You have always been. You always will be. Your ways are perfect. Please lead our country Your perfect way. Amen.
