What about a post on study materials suggestions for a women’s Sunday school class?

I have been sensing the Lord’s leading to start a Sunday school class for the woman at my small church. Since I have been blessed to participate in women’s bible studies outside of my church I would love to share the bonding and spiritual growth experience with the woman of my church. I sense the leading to step out in faith however I’m sure what specific study materials, in addition to the Word of course, I should utilize. We will only have 40 – 45 minutes each Sunday so I video series might be a challenge.

I know the siestas are a mighty, Godly, spirtual group of women so any suggestions from those who have gone before or are there now would be greatly appreciated if you choose that topic.

How about a topic on moms who struggle with anger. I know I sure do especially towards my precious little daughter. How do other moms handle frustrations and is there anyone else out there besides me who carries the shame of an angry/violent temper?

Haven’t posted in a really long time and finally got a blogger account – YEAH!!! Been going through a dry spell myself lately with lots of stresses in our life, so reading Miss Beth’s cooking woes kinda hit my funny bone!:) How did her dish turn out?!?! Would love to see more pics of Miss Beth’s flowers and how does she find the time to create that lovely oasis?

Anything you feel like sharing about adjusting back to your new-old town would be neat too (I am kinda in the same situation – moved back last year to an area of Texas we used to live in although kiddos are in a different school district). Pics of the inside of your new home would be lovely too – especially if Jackson is in them! 🙂

Love, Love, Love the sleeping Tod pic! Some of the best pics I ever took of my oldest one is when she would fall asleep right in the middle of playing.

Looking forward to seeing how your blogger’s block ends after reading all the comments!

Oh Amanda – he is such a sweetie! Don’t you just love the innocence?!

Ok, this SC girl is struggling with training up a child in the way that she should go. It’s not me that has the problem – it is family members that think I am “way out there” for being so involved in the Word and in church. They think that no matter “how much” I try, that the world is still going to corrupt her and she will just follow suit. Ok, enough of my blathering! It’s like, the way the world goes – they think that anything is ok and when I align things up in comparison to God’s word, it just doesn’t fit! I look at you and Melissa and you both are solid encouragement that if I continue with the training, it will not fail. Not to mention, there are several solid role models in church. Nobody’s perfect, but as Christians – authentic Christians, aren’t we called to be in this world and not OF THIS WORLD? Anyway, I hate to gossip – but it all started with all the news this week of the young pop star girl and her photos. I know what is right – but getting others to SEE WHAT IS RIGHT… well, maybe – do you think I just need a break?! Am I just too serious?! Thanks for listening. Definitely feel better! :o) Much love, Alisa in Cheraw, SC

I agree with a Mother’s Day theme, funny, inspiring, honoring stories about our Moms. Also, always like to know the latest wonder product other ladies have discovered. I am such a lover of women’s things that anything that interests other women I am all about it. Of course, any encouragement of how to do our best living Godly lives is appreciated. Personally, I love you all so much and have learned so much and been so strengthen in my walk through your Mom’s Bible studies, that I am a fan of whatever interests you guys.

Well, our ladies bible study is about to end in 2 more weeks…then we don’t meet again until fall. I think I’m already experiencing “withdrawal” symptoms! Our ladies have bonded with such sisterhood, that I can’t imagine not being in class with them! We started out taking the Daniel class 1/2 paced (my 1st year to take 1/2 paced, after taking full paced for 4 or 5 years!) Now, we’re about to finish up a study on the Practice of Prayer authored by our leader. It has been wonderful learning how to pray scripture.

    Here are my suggestions:

1 – Gold Nuggets from a message – Something that stayed with you and you continue to meditate on. Example – “Don’t get used to the dark”

2 – Favorite Christian music cd or download. Favorite Christian Artist (other than our #1 Travis)

3 – Fears that are gripping us – this allows unknown people to pray for us

4 – Favorite blog spots where Christians can pour out our heart

    5 – Favorite website

6 – Church signs that spoke to you as you traveled

Thanks for the safe place to blog.

    AJ-
I agree. It’s not blogger’s block, it’s a chance to Ps 46:10 (the versions that say “quiet”). How about asking us what Bible study our husband’s want Curtis to write first? How about what Bible studies we want Beth to do next? How about everyone share what Scripture they’re hanging onto now? What about ‘best movie to inspire a quiet time from a different perspective’? For me it was watching Star Wars with our 7 y/o son and my husband doing a family devo drawing comparisons between Anikan Skywalker and Judas and then Darth Vader and the thief on the cross next to Jesus.

    Andi says:

How does the story of Job make God look loving? It makes Satan look petty and evil of course, but I just am having a hard time with how it makes God look loving. Letting Satan kill of Job’s children just to prove a point? It makes God look like the antithesis of the God in the Gospel…the God I’ve dedicated my life to. The God that is all loving and we’re asked as His followers to love like Him. How is that loving?

I’ve lost three babies due to miscarriages and I cannot stop grieving over them. That’s nothing in the scheme of losing your first 10 children like Job. How did he have such faith and love towards a God that allowed that magnitude of loss? Why can’t my faith be strong like his? How do I overcome the intense sadness and move on like Job did?

Write about that. I challenge you. I can’t answer those questions. I have yet to meet a Christian that can answer it. I get blank stares and silence. It doesn’t say much about why we have chosen to worship a God when we can’t defend Him.

    Amanda,
Sometimes life is just too busy and ordinary (Thank the blessed Lord for it too) Let the quiet soak in dear girl in the midst of the chaos, drink a tall glass of iced tea, listen to Leon Patillo sing Spirit of God and bask in wonder of our Lord’s love and goodness. Ask for poetry, limit them to 20 lines or so. Would love to read and see the creativity and inspiration of the siestas. Shalom

I have two children that are adopted although they are no longer very young. I have a 16 year old daughter and a 12 year old son, both of whom we adopted as infants. I have to admit that it’s never been a huge focus in either of their lives but they both are aware they are adopted. I have had fantasies about “huge reunions, loving contacts, etc.” but neither have been very interested. They just say they are happy with me and their Daddy and don’t need alot of other family. I like the idea of a huge family. Oh well…it is what it is and I’m very thankful for both of them.

Here’s some random ideas: summer plans, summer camps, what do we hate/love about summer, house pics, wedding pics, video of Jackson, more background on your hubby (his upbringing, college, transition to this job from youth pastor, hobbies), things we love about our church, our #1 prayer request at the moment (if we feel free to share), one of your/our funniest church moments, favorite summertime memories, dream place to live or retire.

I have never been to Houston, so if you were a tour guide where would you take me?

    Mom in Buffalo says:

Hello, I realize I’m commenting very late. I’ve been behind in my blog reading. I love the picture of Jackson, though!

I am a married stay-at-home mom, for now – but, about a year ago, my husband lost his job and we have struggled to stay afloat. Now I am facing the reality that I am going to have to go back to work. We simply can’t squeeze our budget any tighter. I don’t mind working, actually, and now that my children are a little older I think they will handle it fine – but I’ve been greatly discouraged by the “mommy wars” raging within the Christian community. Most of the women at my church are SAHMs like me, but when I shared with them that I may need to return to work, even just part-time, they were very harsh to me.

I would love a post on the so-called Mommy Wars. I am not asking you to choose a “side”, but I would be interested in your advice on how we as women can handle this hot-button topic with grace, instead of attacking each other.
