A Little Leader Love

Two weeks ago we wrapped up our Breaking Free Bible study in Houston and we got a chance to share a little bit about it on the blog. Now we would love to hear from all you Bible-study-leading, blogging siestas. How did your semester go? Chime in whether or not it was a Beth Moore study. We just want people in the Word!

My sister and I just finished Patriarchs. What an amazing study! It was inspiring to be able to picture these Bible characters as the living, breathing, fallen humans that they were. I learned so much about myself and how I deal with the difficulties of life. More than anything, I was encouraged to keep persevering; even if a situation feels unending, God is moving. My God is faithful! Soli Deo Gloria.

My best girlfriend and I have the blessing of living next door to each other! Our husbands are both supportive of Bible studies in our homes, so this semester we split out into 2 nights so more women could attend. We finished “Stepping Up” just before Beth came here to Jacksonville for the LPM event. This season brought life events that tied to the homework so closely, we knew God gave it specifically to us through Beth. Thank you for all of the work that goes into making it so enjoyable for us.
    God bless you!!!

Currently, our little group (our group can actually vary from anywhere from 12-60 women depending on the study we are doing) is just finishing up “Fingerprints of God” by Jennifer Rothschild. It has been awesome, and is the first non-Beth Moore study that this particular group has done in over 4 years (but we’ve run out of Beth Moore studies….waiting for Esther, and in the meantime, we will study with some of the other women’s Bible teachers that the Lord has gifted, while we wait for our dear Beth). This study has been very good, the ladies have all remarked about how they’ve loved the hands on element of the study, and how when we started the study they weren’t so sure about the different format, and they thought that the activities were weird, but my co-leader and I have encouraged them to go with the flow…..last week the ladies commented how they are finally “getting it” on how helpful the hands on element is to helping the concepts “cemented in”. But I can’t wait to get back to a good meaty Beth Moore study! And am SOOOOOO looking forward to LPL in San Diego this weekend! And our group from Neighborhood Church in Visalia, CA is praying for you Beth and company 🙂

    Love and many blessings!

Our group, Women Seeking Truth, are finishing up Believing God this weekend. It has been a glorious adventure with the Father. We started in October. I can’t wait to share with my siestas on Saturday morning. Then some of us are going on a retreat next weekend followed by a final celebration on April 26.

    Bless all my siestas,

Oh I am terribly late to chime in bu tI had to share what a blast all of us ladies had doing the “Discerning the Voice of God” study by Priscilla Shirer.
We had A LOT happen last year and we found ourselves at a new church with a dozen questions before us (do we move? where do we attend church? Where do our kids go to school? what is this lump in my breast? does my hubby take a new job?….).
My hubby and I were in a state of unrest and uncertainty. After doing that study ALL of our questions were answered and we are just THRILLED!!
The study was amazing and God is so faithful – we must pursue Him with a passion.
He wants nothing more than to reveal Himself to us!
    PRAISE HIM!!

We just finished up Chip Ingram’s The Miracle of Life Change. Wonderful!!!! God knows exactly what study we need and when we need it and I needed that in my life now. God be praised in all of our transformation. I’m looking forward to our next study in May. It will Discerning the Voice of God by Priscilla Shirer. I heard she is Beth Moore without the caffeine (although we love Beth and all her caffeine).

Today was our last day of Jesus the One and Only. I loved it, and it’s timing so close to Easter made Easter much richer for all of us. I’m leading, and I see so much growth in my life – thank you! I’m also talking up next fall’s study – Breaking Free! I’m so excited, I got the book and am going to start on it immediately, then do it again with my group in the fall. It all touches me so richly… Thank you, Beth, for all of your hard work and study for all of us. See you in Minneapolis!!!

We just finished a study by Heidi McLaughlin, Beauty Unleashed. It was all about Godly women unleashing the beuaty and power of Gods in every area of their lives. The study was based on Heidi’s first book of the same name. It was a truly impactful (sp?) study. Since I attend Heidi’s home church, she lead the study in person. You can find out more about the book at http://www.heartconnection.ca. That study just finished and tomorrow we begin a short Precept/Kay Arthur course on Hosea, I am really looking forward to it.

I am finishing up leading 2 groups at our church through “Believing God.” One participant has spent the last 10 days in the hospital, 8of them in PICU, with her daughter with pneumonia. She said at one point she so clearly felt she was in the middle of the Jordan River holding her stone and God pushed her to the other side… she has been believing God this week, Praise God. She believes in his soverignty in her life, Hallelujah. Oh Beth, we thank God for you every week. For your obedience to His Word and you authenticity. May we live out His call in our lives as well.

Just one more week to go in “Stepping Up” and it has been great. I have actually lead two groups on the same study. I meet with the first group on Monday night. I teach a Sunday School class for Newly or Nearly Marrieds and they asked me to please do a bible study at night with them. How could I refuse, after of course I got permission from my hubby! Then on Tuesday morning I lead a group of about 40ish ladies of all ages. We all love bible study. We all just stood shoulder to shoulder last week and it was cool. The first six weeks of the year we did Kay Arthur’s study “Lord Teach Me to Pray” I really enjoyed it and learned so much. We are going for seven more weeks with “When Godly People Do Ungodly Things” and then we’ll break for summer. All 7 of my young friends on Monday night had NEVER done a bible study even though all of them had been raised in the church. It has blessed my socks off to watch them grow in the Lord and His word. Thank you Beth and all involved for these studies.

I facilitated Stepping up both at the church I attend and one at my home (same study)42 ladies in all. In New England, Unbelievable!!!
There has been such bonding interdenominationally, God has just blessed all of us. God had orchestrated the series of studies beyond my anything I could do on my own. We did Daniel, then A Woman’s Heart, and are just finishing up Stepping Up. The plan so far is the Patriarch’s in September. I am also using the Series on Proverbs at the Community Women’s Breakfast that we put on at the church four times from September through May.
God is working and we all have been so blessed through the study of His Word. Thank you SOOOOO much for the sacrifice that you all are so willing to do to serve Him. God is doing a mighty work in this area.

I have to say that until week 9 I felt like thowing in the towel. It all felt so hopeless. But, week 9 brought such peace to me. We live in an evil and fallen world and that is the only explanation for some of the things that befall us in this world. To know that my Father loves me and would never abandon me washed me in a peace that I so needed. It is something I’ve needed to know for a very long time.

We are continuing to meet as a group on Tuesday nights until next Spring. We just didn’t want to miss our time together.

    Thanks so much,

We went through the Psalms of Ascent this past fall. Most of us had not known about these psalms. My favorite thing I learned about the Lord in this study is that He is purposeful and timely in every word He says. When He was on earth, He spoke of Himself in a way that the people around Him would totally understand. He is such a personal Savior.

My “Bible Bunny” group just finished at the end of March Believing God. This was my second time through it, but loved every page and second of it. The girls were called to a much different walk.

Now we are in “Stepping Up”….just doing our second week of homework. This is way to good…now we not only have to believe God, but now we have to Step Up in our walk…..THANK YOU BETH for you faithfulness to call us to the higher ground and higher walk.

If I may, I want to explain the Bible Bunny name of our group. My unsaved husband penned us that. He started asking when the “Bible Bunnies” were coming over for study. At first I was offended that he would call us that instead of “ladies”. Then when I shared it with the group, one of the members said, “Does he realize how rapidly bunnies reproduce?” What a great thought…and sure enough, we started out with 8-10 faithful “bunnies” and we are now at a total of 17 bunnies. My house is small, so we are almost maxed out. But, these bunnies just keep calling and wanting to join our group.

If you will bear with me a few minutes longer, I will share how we got to do Stepping Up. This is a testimony of how God puts you in the study you need to do. We had originally wanted to do Stepping Up, but share DVD’s with another group and it looked like they wouldn’t be done in time for us to begin. So, we decided to do “When Godly People Do Ungodly Things”. We weren’t as excited but decided that must be where we were to go. A couple of weeks before we were to start, the leader of the other group called me one morning and said they would be done by April
1st when we would need the set. We also had a sister returning to our group who had been gone during our Believing God study. (She had twin grandchildren born in late Nov and she was helping with them.)
Well, not two hours after I got the call about being able to do Stepping Up, I received a call from one of the other ladies informing me that Sue’s husband had died that morning on his way to work. He never got out of their subdivision. He was only 56 years old. I knew that I knew that I knew God had done this with the Bible Study. Sue would need the Psalms. Our God is faithful girls. As we went around the table our first time together, I was absolutely amazed how many of our “bunnies” need this study. We are all in need of the Psalms. Isn’t HE wonderful?????

Sorry I went on so long, but I just LOVE how GOD moves in our lives.
Blessings and prayers to all of your Siesta’s out there.

    Dear Amanda, Beth and Siests,
I have just read all of the posts and can I just shout to the Lord for the glory of His precious word and how it changes lives. I have been and student, facilitator and a teacher of many of your studies Beth (love them!), and some of the others that you Siestas are doing and I am always, always, always just amazed by the power of His word. It is truly “living and powerful”.

I am not involved with a group at this time, but am just finishing on my own–“Living God’s Word” by Waylon Moore. It is a six week study. Not in depth in itself (but can be if you branch out on your own for deeper study as I did.) LOVE, LOVE, LOVE God’s Word at whatever study I am feasting on.

Love you Siestas, Continue in the Word!

I have led many of Beth’s studies at church and I love them. We have great response to them, but our new pastor challenged me to start an expository study of a book of the Bible(no curriculum!!!) I was offended at first (only because I was afraid of it), but took the challenge. I picked Genesis and started in September. We have just gotten to chapter 18 and I have never learned so much about the Word than I have by studying and making up all the lessons without a set curriculum to follow. It has blessed me more than the ladies I teach could ever be blessed. It has been a hoot!!! We have around 15 in the mornings and at night (we teach it twice every Sunday). I have a co-teacher who is my partner in women’s ministry and best friend – we just laugh (in a good way) at what God is doing. It is amazing. I love you all! Aleah

p.s. As for Beth’s studies…I just finished Steppin’ up (I was in Raleigh when she started it!!) and decided to start To Live Is Christ – I love it. I think I have done the rest of them…a couple of them twice. I don’t get tired of them. They are so encouraging. I learned to love the Word from these studies. THANKS!!

I am leading The Beloved Disciple right now at our church. We had some delays so we have a few more weeks to go. We are just loving it. I did Believing God last summer on the internet and I love how this study compliments that one. It seems that just when I need a fresh word from God, there it is. I just can’t get over how He works it out so that a study that was published years ago is just what I need today! He is just
    Amazing!!!

We pray for you, Beth, every week and marvel at how God has used you in such a powerful way. We are sooooo thankful!

    Praise God!

Thank you for challenging us and personally, for giving me such perspective that is much needed. We love you!

We just finished Stepping Up and I can’t tell you what an awesome study that was. It was sad when our six weeks was over! Mrs. Beth I look down the list of the studies you have written and my goal is to go back and do the ones I’ve missed. I just hope the dear Lord gives me time to complete them. With each new study I do – whether it was written in recent years or when you first started – each study blesses me beyond words! I can’t tell you how much your words and your heart for the Lord have meant to me and how encouraging they have been to me over the years. There have been times I’ve found myself in situations I just didn’t know how to handle and I either get answers in homework that week or maybe in the next bible study an answer comes to me. You have an incredible way of writing and reaching people. I appreciate your honesty and your candidness in each bible study! May the Lord continue to bless you and bring you many more studies to the siestas!

P.S. my bible study will be starting a new study with Priscilla Shirer and I’m most excited. This will be the first study we’ve done with her.

    Love to all!

Thank you so much, Beth, for leading us to know Jesus in a deeper and more intimate way. The lesson on Martha & Mary last week caused us to re-evaluate our own habits, ‘bents’ and priorities in light of what Jesus would prefer if he were to walk thru the door of our homes. We are challenged to be un-busy enough to be loved & encouraged by Him in the Word & in our spirits each day.

HELP ME REACH OUT TO MY NEIGHBORHOOD!!!!!!!!
I’ve done several of Beth’s Bible studies with other women from my church – but haven’t been able to in the last year or so because of my husband’s new work schedule. Now, in a different season of life, that group of women can’t resume Bible study together for different schedule reasons.
Here’s my prayer – and I’m asking LP folks and siestas to pray it with me and possibly respond.
I’m home most evenings with my 7 y/o, who is alseep in bed by 7:30 pm (yes, a BLESSING!). That leaves my evenings free. I want to put a sign out in my yard, “Bible Study, ALL women welcome”,and offer a Beth Moore study. I saw Beth on TV and she was talking about how she and her husband get left out of some neighborhood events b/c they’re not heavy drinkers – that’s us in our neighborhood! Here’s my situation, my husband and I don’t have any money to buy a leaders kit, and my church borrowed the studies from another local church. Does anyone have a “used” leaders kit (I’ll buy my own workbook) that they would be willing to sell me? I’ll pay S&H, and I’m in Apex, NC.
If so, e-mail me [email protected]

Oh what an amazing year it has been. I felt the Lord laying it on my heart to reach out to women on my street here in Raleigh (we are a new development) and start a Bible study. I said no…He said yes…I said no…well…ok… maybe…and now here we are…3 studies later travelling through the Patriarchs, A Women’s Heart God’s Dwelling Place and currently having our faith BLOWN AWAY in Believing God. We have seen miracles…a complete cancer healing and a long struggle with infertility providing a baby girl this coming May!!! Ladies are coming to faith..joining churches, witnessing to their husbands, renewing their faith within parenting. I truly stand in awe, because seriously Beth, all I do is clean the rampant stacks around the kitchen, get all the toys out of the family room, put out the froo-froo teacups, get a dessert together (oooo…there is just nothing like a filling of the spirit thru Beth and some yummy sweets…what could be sweeter?) and open up my home. The awesome hubby quarantine’s the little ones upstairs and handles the bedtime routine. Then, Beth, you do the rest! The joy of service is a 100 fold back to me as my faith has been so rocketed taking these journies through God’s word together I can already feel the tears. I can’t even begin to describe what a community our street has become. God is too good…He is love is endless and intimate. Bless you girl for blessing us! We love you all at LPM!!! I write and publish my own studies in order to have materials that relate to becoming a godly mom. We did a 10 week study on the life of Elijah called “Fresh Fire.” Today was our last day and we had a time of sharing. It was so precious to hear what God had done in the lives of young moms who are all about studying and memorizing the Word of God. God is so good! Blessings.

As I type this I am still in awe at what God has done in my life since I met Beth Moore back in 2006. I had gone on a Mission Trip (very unlike anything the old me would have done). I met a friend there who invited me to see Beth. Since then I have done Believing God and Living Beyond Yourself. I really went out of my comfort zone and decided to facilitate my first Bible study ever this semester! We just finished Daniel and I am shaking my head just thinking that I, Angie would do such a thing! It is only by the Holy Spirit’s nudge that I agreed to do this. My natural self would be too insecure to do it! I had 10 women who came to my home and I had a prayer warrior in Houston, Texas (Annette) who helped me all along the way. She even let me borrow her iWorship DVD’s. It was the most amazing time and my house was blessed beyond measure. I had always needed to leave my house to relax, but now I love being home! I was excited to share Beth with some new friends! Now, I’m just praying about what to do next!

Thank you for all you guys do to get us excited to get into God’s Word! I will never be the same! I wish I had words to better express my gratitude!
BTW: It’s also just not the same to shop since the study… there is so much of this out there… I am and there is none besides ME! I want to be different!

We are in our last week of A Woman’s Heart, God’s Dwelling Place. This has opened up a blessed season of my life. . .this was the first Bible study I have ever lead!! At times the practical/administrative side of things was frustrating but bigger than that was the spiritual growth that I have encountered. Like nothing before. Off the charts!! I woke up at 5:30 the other morning with this in my head. . .I apologize in advance for the long post. God is so amazing!!!

    Pressing in. . .
O Lord, help me to press in
    more and more each day
only in your Holy of Holies
is where I want to stay.

For there I’ve found this destination
To be like no other –
    Amazing, fulfilling, thrilling
I’m crazy for You, giving my life to cover.

Behind the veil I’ve found my place.
And one day I’ll cry Holy, Holy, Holy
when You carry me home to meet You
    Face to Face.

But while here on this earth
    I pray to worship completely in truth;
may my past, present and future be earthly proof

Of a life redeemed by a loving, forgiving Savior
You see me and all that I am
    yet you still say,
“She’s mine and I’ll never leave her.”

So Lord, my heart of which you’ve grabbed hold Is yours forever.
I pray to love and seek You more each day,
to remain in Your presence and not leave. Never.

    I love You with a heart overflowing;
filled with gratitude and awe am I –
for there’s power in Your blood,
and in You will I keep growing.

    Blessings to all of you!

I finished up Believing God. What a journey. I did it onsight with you in the Fall of 2002, but did not get to finish the last week because I lost our first child that week. So it sat, unfinished, on a shelf and then in a moving box for the last 5 years. Thankfully, I got a chance to do it again here in my new town with a group of ladies from our ministry (Young Life). It took us months to do and I ended up completing it all by myself, but I was determined to finish it this time. I just knew that God had something in store and man, was I right! Thank you for making me create a timeline of my life with God. It illustrated to me for the first time that God really was there during some very trying times in my life. Thank you, Beth, for your service and commitment to our God. I love you!

I just finished up Stepping Up. Loved it. One session you said you have ladies in their 80’s doing the Bible studies. Well I just want you to know, my grandma is 95 and attends a Beth Moore study in Albuquerque with my mom. Here’s to God using you to speak truth to generations.

    Beth,Amanda,Melizza..

I have not been able to look at the blogsite in a couple of weeks and You ladies have had so many things happen! I’m glad that you found Sunny! Congratulations on Curtis joining the team and on the new building!

I wanted to share something with you, because I feel that you all have helped me get where I am today. I know it is God that changes people, but you were instruments that he was able to use and I just want to thank you.

I just finished leading my first ladies Bible Study two weeks ago. Breaking Free! I had completed it on my own at home last summer and I just felt like God was leading me to start one at church. We had such a good time getting to know one another and getting to know God. I have met some ladies that I will never forget! We are now starting up a new one, Stepping Up, in May.

The main reason I wanted to send you this though is because during all this I felt God leading me to start a women’s ministry. I have felt that calling for awhile, but God opened the doors a couple of years ago. Praise Him!
I just held an event this past Saturday at my church. It was a kickoff to the women’s ministry. It was titled Chocolate and Friends. It was decorated in pink and brown. We had a chocolate fountain and all sorts of dipping stuff!
I wrote a lesson, well, I called it a presentation!, on friendship. How to be a good friend and how to receive a good friend. I used the story of Naomi, Ruth and Orpah and compared their relationships with our relationships and friendships. Then I compared people to chocolate. Chocolate comes in all colors, shapes, sizes and taste and so do our friends. Some are in your life for a season and some till the day you die. Some are plain, some are nutty! Some are sweet and full of good stuff, yet sometimes, we have friends who may be hollow or bitter and filled with yucky stuff such as coconut!

I have never done anything like this before. I used to be scared to speak in front of people. However, I wrote my FIRST bible lesson and stood on a stage with a microphone and taught it to 43 women! The Lord has definitely changed this lady! I’m so grateful to HIM for what he has done in my life. Friends are so important in our walk with Christ. When you have friends that can help you through the trials, they can enhance the relationship that we have in Christ. He purposely put some Godly, Titus, women in my life to help disciple me and I still have women in my life that continue to disciple me.
Well, now you know why I haven’t been on the blog! I have missed you all and I love to read the stories and testimonies from everyone. Thank you for allowing God to use you and thanks for teaching us what God has taught you.

I was there for the first session and brought a friend from work. She was not a Christian. She was everything Beth talked about when she said she was trying to reach the younger women in the audience. My friend was so blown away, she cried. She was so excited about coming back. Unfortunately, she couldn’t get anyone to babysit and never came back. I ended up having a stroke in early February and never went back. I have never NOT finished a Beth Moore Bible Study. This was very upsetting to me. I WILL take the class when it comes out again.

About my friend: she has started going to church!!!!! Praise our most wondrous Father and Beth for allowing him to use her like this.
