SSMT Celebration 2016 RECAP

We can’t let too much time escape without recounting all that God did at our recent SSMT Celebration. It was raucous fun! We had 43 states represented, a few Canadian sisters and even a sister from Spain! How is that for some JOY!! We know that many more of you wanted to come but were unable to due to illness, financial challenges and various other reasons. So, here’s a little peek into the weekend…Beth speaking 4842-49

Our Siestas came ready with spirals in hand and the Word of God on their lips. Some of them even donned matching t-shirts, boas and beads.worship 5239-35

Our very own Travis Cottrell was on hand to lead us in worship and Siesta Mama Beth gave a fabulous teaching on the word NEVERTHELESS.   worship 4890-61

If you are hitting yourself…wishing you could hear the message, we have good news! For the first time ever, we taped the message. The teaching will air at a later date on Beth’s new TV show, Living Proof, on the Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN). Keep your eyes open for that in the near future. The Siestas had a blast being part of the live audience and even got to take part in a little game called “Wheel of Favor.” Think “Wheel of Fortune” but Siesta Mama style.  Beth speaking 5077-56

wheel of favor 5377-55 wheel of favor 5403-53

The weekend culminated on Saturday morning. Everyone recited their memory verses to a partner. As I looked across a sea of women with spirals in hand, I couldn’t help but think about the power of the Word being spoken out loud in those small groups. It was like incense rising to the throne of God. I thought of all the individual tears and struggles and victories won. As they spoke aloud their verses, I wondered what specific promise were proclaimed over challenging situations and the battles won. THESE are the moments this ministry lives for and anticipates with great faith. Over the weekend, we had 228 ladies say ALL 24 verses! AMAZING!

If you’ve never tried to memorize the Word of God, we encourage you to give it a try. Grab an accountability partner and get ready to see God do something BIG. For those of you that participated with us in 2015, but couldn’t come…we want you to know that you were missed. We pray that you get to CELEBRATE with God in your own special way. Lastly, we do have a few SSMT charms left over from the weekend. If you completed the SSMT in 2015 with us, simply email your name and address to Jenn Hamm ([email protected]) and she will put your name in the drawing to mail you a little sussy.  **UPDATE: Our drawing is over. Thank you so much for participating!!

Thanks so much for journeying with us. We consider it the biggest blast to get to serve you. May God blow open the doors wide for His Kingdom in 2016. Keep Memorizing!

I was SO sad that I couldn’t make it this time… Had planned to go but got sick and just couldn’t manage.

Thank you Living Proof for this, and I am excited I’ll get to see the “Nevertheless” message!

    Much love and many hugs,

This was such a fabulous experience! Thank you, thank you, thank you! I’ve started a little group for my friends to encourage each other through this year when LPL isn’t doing a SSMT. I so enjoyed the time that memorization brought me with our sweet Savior that I just don’t want to give it up myself and I want others to experience it! We’re considering it a practice run for our participation in next year’s LPL SSMT. 🙂
One thing – what was the website where the pictures from the celebration were posted?
    Thanks again!

Thank you for the recap! We were so blessed by your gracious hospitality. The message, the worship, the WORD being written on the “mirrors, the new friendships, the renewed friendships, the photos, the fun and laughter, the tears. We love Jesus and His Word is Alive and Active. We are indeed blessed by the Word.

Thank you for all of you at Living Proof Ministries. You have shown time and love to each of that attended. It’s worth the trip to Houston.

Even though I was not able to attend the celebration, I love seeing these pictures. It is so encouraging to watch how God is working in so many lives, and allowing us the privilege to take the challenge of keeping His Word in our hearts and lives.I am hoping to keep memorizing this year as well. It keeps me focused and disciplined.

So glad to see these pics from the SSMT celebration! I have never been able to go, but I am excited that it will be on TBN! I will be watching!
Also, I love the song! Can we share it with non-siesta people? Who is singing it? I guess I missed the credits.

    Oh Beth!
It was such a whirlwind weekend. Fri I did Galveston Is and had a wonderful seafood meal on the Boardwalk, then did NASA Johnson Space Ctr. Yes I did all 87 steps up! Fri eve was great but the most thrilling part was sharing those few fleeting moments with you how Jesus has touched my life and reawakened me through years of depression and mood swings, terrible betrayal and even jail time on crazy charges. It was somewhere in the middle of the Daniel study years ago now something clicked and I have never been the same again!
I will ALWAYS have a special spot in my heart of hearts for you. BTW I hope you can enjoy Dakota Tex Mex. If you just can not please say you did anyway!
Til who knows when the next time may be…
    Love forever,
    Betty M

What a wonderful experience and blessing the entire experience has been. I’m still reciting my 24 verses whenever I’m driving my car. I’ve been doing it for a year and don’t know what else to do when I’m driving now ❤️

    Paula Williamson says:

This was my 3rd Siesta celebration and I loved every minute of it! Beth was at her best teaching “Nevertheless” and Travis and the worship team just kept us pumped up! I came away feeling renewed, full of joy, and with a song in my heart. I am grateful I was able to attend and just can’t wait for the next one! This year I’m going to review my spirals from 2011 and 2013 and review those precious scriptures and re-commit them to memory. To all my siesta sisters, I love you!!!!

  10. 10
    Andrea Cox says:

Wow! 228 of us knew all 24 verses?! That is too cool. I hope that number goes up even more next time around.

This was my first year to do SSMT and I really enjoyed it. My friend Amanda invited me, because she didn’t want to do it alone. I am so grateful she asked me! God has impacted my life in fresh ways this past year, and this is the first time since I was a kid that I’ve been able to memorize Scripture. I couldn’t be happier about digging in to it!

Amanda and I have decided to memorize more verses this year (about ten or twelve instead of the full 24), and we’re planning on participating in Beth’s SSMT again next year. So excited to see where this year’s verses take me!

Hugs to all my Siestas! You all did it!

    Lori Clark says:

Hello. I found out about SSMT a little too late last year. Are you doing it again this year? If so, when will it begin?!!!

    • 12.1
      LPM-KMac says:

Hi Lori, We typically host SSMT every other year, so there will not be any posts this year about it. We so encourage you to do memorization on your own, or grab a friend and do it together!

    MarlaMae Beyer says:

Thank you so much for affording the opportunity to be part of such a beautiful contingent of Siesta Christ-Followers and for hosting that wonderful Celebration! My husband drove me down to Houston from Northern Indiana and said he loved the JOY on my face when I came back to the hotel after each session! I will be carrying my spiral with me for a long time to come, and have my DVR set for each of the TV spots! The three I’ve seen have been inspiring to say the least! “Lights Shine Bright”!!!

  14. 14
    Kim Hampton says:

A small group of friends of mine committed to SSMT this past year. I was so encouraged each time we learned a new verse, committed it to memory, and heard those verses used in other places, like on the radio, in a sermon, etc. It was a gentle encouragement to my heart every time. I could say, “I know that verse!” Woohoo! This year, I have taken the idea to our church. On the first and third Sundays, we are getting a Bible verse to memorize. Everyone has a little notebook to write the Bible verse. January’s verses are Philippians 4:6-7. Even my three year old granddaughter can say it. God is so good and faithful. Thank you, Beth!

  15. 15
    Julie Behnke says:

Friday night at our Celebration was awesome!!!! I was three rows from the front and as I waited for everything to begin, I couldn’t believe I was going to see BETH MOORE live, in person!!! And, there she was just feet away from me and just as beautiful, energetic, funny, captivating, and living and breathing the Word of God. Then, there was the music of Travis Cotrell. I could totally feel that the Holy Spirit was there with us. I was on my feet singing with tears streaming down my face. On Saturday, I said my 24 verses, probably better than I have ever recited them; I know that was the Holy Spirit, too. Thank you to everyone at Living Proof Ministries!!!!

    Christy says:

I didn’t attend the SSMT Celebration, but I was so blessed (and changed) by the year of Scripture memory. I’m memorizing this year too!

Thank you to Beth and everyone at LPM for blessing us through your service to the Lord!

  17. 17
    Carolyn says:

Thank you for sharing! I loved getting a little taste of this. Traveling from Northern Idaho in January can be a bit tricky, so I haven’t attended the celebration. But oh my, a Siesta from Spain attended! Wow!
I began memorizing scripture in the fall of 2012, and I joined SSMT in 2013 and continued in 2015. I love reading posts and have been blessed by this fellowship of believers. Blessings on all of you! Thank you Living Proof for all you give in His Name!

    Sharon Cox says:

How can we have access to the pictures that we took with Beth?

BETH & KMac & all the lovely servants at LPM:

    YAHOOJAH & HOLLERLUJAH!

Thank you so much! I am soooooooooooooo happy this is going to be on the new LPM TV on TBN.

I had to miss SSMT because I couldn’t get off work AGAIN because the week prior I was on the…

    WHEEL OF FORTUNE!

Woohoo – the Wheel of Fortune episode my friend and I taped will air on Wednesday evening, February 10th.

Let me tell you – the Word of God sustained me while I was on Wheel of Fortune, and I’ll take Beth’s Wheel of Favor ANY OLD DAY over the other temporary wheel.

My prayer while in California was from 2 Timothy 1:7:

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind!”

NO FEAR – He was with me!
    POWER – Spin that Wheel
LOVE – Be a light for Jesus to everyone I met!
SOUND MIND – Solve those puzzles!

    I love y’all so much!

I so appreciate you, Mama Beth, and your team at Living Proof. This was my 3rd time participating in the SSMT challenge and my 2nd time attending the event. (The first time I was pregnant with our 3rd child and extremely sick so I didn’t get to attend.) I had such fun reconnecting with 3 other women whom I had met the previous time and I loved the word you brought to us. And of course, Travis and his team were ah-mazing, as usual. Thank you for being faithful and for being an encouragement to all of us women! Can’t wait till the next one! (Oh, and I’m loving your show on TBN! I dvr it ever week!)

Looks like a ton of fun! Would have loved to have been there, but crazy changes at the end of 2015 rerouted plans. Love to see sisters in the Lord enjoying his presence. Maybe next time.

So sorry I didn’t make it, maybe next year I can do this, I enjoyed memorizing the verses and power in the word.

  31. 31

Since I couldn’t attend the celebration because I was out of town, I had my daughter tape me reciting my verses! Thank you LPM for encouraging me to work hard and memorize scripture! I will continue this on my own next year!

    Deborah Mott says:

Beth thank you for teaching on the word NEVERTHELESS. It was very excellent, anointed and wonderful. The truth and power of God =present. Treasured time. Thank you all LPM staff for a great weekend with our LORD in fellowship and worship. Thank you Travis esp for Jesus Blood Speaks to Me song! Healing Truths!

Things that most stood out to me: FAVOR OF GOD! Favor comes because of CHRIST alone. All grace earned by Christ. He is our Hope! Beth used “wheel of favor”. Fun, great learning tool. God can be trusted. Basic but needed reminder at this time in my life When two things in Word seem to contradict they are both correct. I loved Beth used the two colored ropes and the nevertheless knot to tie them together. Great visuals. Trust God to show us His nevertheless ties.
God is my reward, my shield, my prize. I will see Him…
Like Jacob I may wrestle with the Lord and He gave me a new name. I need to embrace Him and hold onto Him for dear life. Wrestling and embracing is its own kind of intimacy. I feel I am in this process… Wrestling for Truth and w Truth perhaps and embracing God with all I have for survival of my faith and life. How God delights in me, I am His Portion and He is my Portion, is an amazement to me. Then in worship the Lord showed me that even though loved ones may be/ are doing evil I still love them and delight in them as ones I love, not for what they do. It causes me to want to do right and to obey out of love for the Lord and to please Him compelling me! How Long O Lord phrase repeated … Even in my rebellion/disobedience God is faithful. When I cry to Him, He hears and responds and has mercy on our distress. I loved her talk on Jonah. His calling in the depths of the big fish and guggling on water perhaps as he did so. We don’t deserve mercy but nevertheless God is merciful. God is Great!
(I thought of Jonah, how he did not want to give God’s message because He knew God would be merciful and people would repent. I thought of my call and how I want all to repent but I wonder if I do not have Jonah’s faith or is it that I see like in the days of Lot that America is so much like Sodom and Gorrorrah that it is due for judgment and I could offend God in expecting mercy? I do have faith that the Judge of all the earth will do what is right.)
I loved her teaching on how we row harder and harder to save people but sometimes they need removed from the boat so the rest in the boat survive. Often they refuse to leave the boat and demand you throw them in! Interesting. There is a time to let people go. Only God can save them and sometimes he brings that fish that swallows them and they are saved by God. May we all hear You like Jonah did and beleive in Your MERCY for ourselves and others and finish well. Wrote this the night of teaching.

Thank you all again for the incredible times we shared IN HIS PRESENCE! God Bless you all!

Finally a thank-you to one of my lifelong closest friends who made the trip possible by wanting to come to the celebration together !!!
