A Case of the Mondays

Good Monday morning, ladies!

Anybody have a case of the Mondays today? Like this pup?

Seriously made me laugh. I hope you did, too.

I started writing a post late Friday morning then decided to press hold and wait until today. I knew better than to publish anything because seriously, on a Friday afternoon in the summer, who reads a blog? Weekends, though they seem to rush on by in real life, tend to be much slower on the blog. So here we are. Yet another weekend behind us. Yet another Monday ahead of us. Grin.

If you don’t have a case of the Mondays, maybe you feel like this…

Yes, yes, yes! I won’t admit how often I think we need three day weekends instead of just two days. Of course, I’m kidding. Maybe. A co-worker sent me an email forward last week with some hilarious “when dogs talk” pictures and I just couldn’t help but share. I NEVER send forwards to people, but even I had to forward it on to a handful of folks. Anyway, I hope some of us, or all of us, can relate.

I, for one, am happy to see last week go. You know how some weeks you just feel like the enemy is doing everything to make you quit and just feel alone? That’s how I felt. I’m only telling you that because I know for a fact I’m not alone in that, and sometimes, we need to hear someone else say it so that we don’t feel even more alone. Thankfully, His mercies are new not just every day, but every week. Can I get an amen?

However, as silly as it seemed, I was going to wish all of you an official “Happy Summer!” on Friday, as it was, according to the calendar, the first official day of summer. I’m not sure how June 21st rolls around every year having already felt like we’ve had two months of summer weather, but that’s how Houston rolls.

I kicked off the so-called official summer by enjoying my apartment pool for a little bit on Saturday. Otherwise known as my happy place.

That’s a perk of apartment living. (Which outweighs some of the non-perks. Grin.) You get to enjoy the pleasures of a pool you may not otherwise have in your backyard. Especially on a very hot day in Houston. It was good.

Despite last week not being my favorite week, there were some highlights worth sharing.

1) We celebrated our beloved Beth’s birthday!

As you can imagine, she’s easy to love and celebrate! It was a simple lunch celebration at the office, but it was delightful. Could Mexican food brought in be anything but delightful? One thing she’s taught me, besides the million other Jesus things, is the gift of receiving! Quite literally, I don’t know anyone that receives gifts as well as she does. She simply makes you believe the gift you gave her is her most favorite thing ever and receives it with much glee and thankfulness! That alone is a gift, y’all. I think it makes it fun for both the giver and the receiver. If someone gives you a gift, be glad! Receive it well! Shoot, let the giver bless you! We don’t need to feel greedy, just thankful. Needless to say, we laughed, celebrated, then nearly collapsed from a food overdose. Grin.

2) This didn’t actually happen last week, but y’all. I’d like you to meet our resident LPM lizard.

If it is unclear to you, this lizard, whom we’ve not named, is eating a roach in one picture and a butterfly in the other. I hope you’re not eating lunch while reading this post. If so, my deepest apologies. He went for a little sweet and a little salty, and dude can hunt. I’m almost afraid to come back to the office from lunch afraid for fear we’ll find him after his hunt. Anyway, I thought you might find it interesting. Or disgusting. Or both. But I felt it was good blog material. Don’t you? Laughing.

3) Girls Bible study!

I’m not sure I’ve mentioned it on the blog but as if Gideon wasn’t enough, we’re doing a small Girls Bible study this summer. In the words of our Siesta Mama, we’re afraid of boredom around here! That’s the truth! Last summer, I think I mentioned that I led some girls through So Long, Insecutiry. It was a lot, but so good. Girls ministry at LPM is still something we’re ย working on and trying to figure out, so we’re taking it one sememster at a time. This summer, we’re just meeting four times together and each week someone different is joining us to share something unique with the group. It might just be my favorite summer yet. We met for the first time two week ago, we’ll meet again tomorrow, and two more evenings in July. If it comes to mind, we’d love your prayers! Oh, that this would not be in vain and would bear much fruit in the girls coming. They are the sweetest things ever. So timid. So outgoing. (I know, right?) So adorable. So loveable. So much room to grow. I’m excited for what’s ahead!

Well, I think that’s all for now. Just a little random, catch up since it’s been a week since I’ve said hi! Signing off for now. Much to do on this hot Monday in Houston!

Happy Monday!

Great posts girl!! Love reading them because they are something I can relate to and make me feel as though you ladies are on my level and not sitting off in some office just trying to publish a website with no interest in who is reading it. I did notice you mentioned a ministry for younger girls. My question is this: are there any plans in the works for putting together a study online for young ladies that need a study which is not as in depth as the main one Beth is doing?

Love the lizard. Great blog pictures!

And receiving well is a humility issue. I can almost measure my own hearts humility at any given time by how well I receive. Thanks for the reminder.

My husband adores such captioned dog photos and frequently shares Loldogs posts with me. We have a tendency to “caption” our real life dog’s funny expressions and positions, too (i.e., fill in the imaginary thought bubbles over his head). Thanks for the smiles.

Mama Beth, a belated happy birthday!!!! “May grace and peace be *multiplied* to you through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord” (2 Peter 1:2). May you fall even more in love with Jesus over the year to come. Your ongoing Thess. writing remains in my prayers, too. Just this morning, in fact.

Thanks for the lighthearted post, Lindsee. May the Lord minister to all He brings to the young ladies’ group tomorrow night, and may this week bring you more joy and laughter than last.

Happy Monday !! I am so glad God had you post this blog. Working on Gideon all last week and it was one of the worst week I have had in years. I was thinking it was me, alone. I wondered if God was trying to show me that the enemy was ready to hit me when I was not ready. Funny how you can tell yourself all sorts of things, but when you really take them to our Lord and just lay them down at His feet and give it all to Him. Psalms 121 always come to mind that He never sleeps nor slumbers. God keeps us under his wings, nice and safe. I was glad for a renewing of a new week in Church on Sunday. The blessings He gave me on Sat. night with the missionaries. So when Monday came it was a new start also. Praise God for all His new beginnings. Thanks to all the Sisters-In-Christ.

I am so much looking forward to everything LPM puts out for girls…”timid, outgoing and adorable” girls are always on my heart! I know how I have grown from LPM and I would love to pass that on to my own daughters and other girls in my church.
    Happy Monday!

    Amy in Hawaii says:

Having lived in Miami as a kid, Houston for 7 years, and now Hawaii for four, I’m pretty casual about that which is in tropical climates, a plethora of Geckos. However, here in the Aloha State, it is perfectly normal for all places of residence and/or business to have at least one (regularly seen) INDOOR Gecko. (There are always more unseen. And they give birth. Inside.)

Not that anyone is necessarily looking to be enlightened on Hawaiian Geckos or anything, but I feel it is my responsibility, as a Siesta, since some of you may be visiting our lovely state this Summer, to pass-on several characteristics that separate the exterior G’s from the interior G’s:

    1) The longer Mr. or Ms. Gecko lives indoors, the paler it becomes. That is, non-green. Our resident G is now a blah shade of, well, tan. (To blend in with it’s environment, or in our case, the wall paint, I suppose.)

    2) Unlike their outdoor cousins, indoor Geckos leave a noticeable mark. As in poo. As in anywhere. As in on the Kitchen Counter in the middle of all the live long day. And since they’re territorial . . . lather, rinse, repeat.

    3) Like their outdoor cousins, however, indoor Geckos hunt and eat B52’s aka ROUS’s aka 3″ long (not counting antenna) Pacific Cockroaches. So while the poo is really gross (and looks oddly like a cigarette butt?) indoor Geckos are our FRIENDS. Please do not kill them while you’re on vacation. Ha.

In other news, I did NOT appreciate the outdoor Gecko that foolishly thought the top of our screen door would be an ideal location to cold chill, so that when I opened it, outdoor G haphazardly fell onto my head. I did admittedly, scream like a girl and go all Ninja on it. Pretty sure Father had a good belly laugh at that one. And a good seat. LOVE HIM. OK . . . and (most) of His creatures, great & small . . . EXCEPT the B52’s.

p.s. LOVE the puppy pics…and to piggy back on your last post, LOVED looking up and listening to “Bones” over & over & over all weekend. (It was new to me.) Seriously, such a perfectly timed gift, Lindsee, in more ways than one. Along with the sharing of your heart. Mahalo Nui Loa! <3

p.p.s Please LPM, come to Hawaii for a LPL. That is all. xoxo

I just finished ‘So Long Insecurity’ and it has changed my life! I am a 47 year old divorced woman who never knew why I carried such a weight around my heart all these years. Nothing seemed to work, even praying for release, until I understood where I kept dragging myself back into my own dark hole!
My heart goes out to the young woman of our culture who are plagued with insecurities they aren’t even aware of, and how this is shaping their choices for the future. I have shared my insights with a young lady of 19 and have just passed on a copy of Beth’s book to help her begin her own journey to freedom!
Beth’s bible study Believing God and now this book has reshaped my heart and mind towards God’s goodness even in the challenge of the enemy’s hits.
Thank you so much for opening your hearts to women who are in need of encouragement and a wake-up call to the truth of God’s love and grace!

Lindsee- I love that you all are doing this. I have worked with high school girls for the last 10 years! We’ve done a variety of studies together including Beth’s Daniel and Esther; I’d love to check out any new study LPM may come up with for this age group; please let me know if you have anything and want to run some “test groups”! I just love this age girl!!
