From Curtis: Passion 2011

Hey Ladies!  This is Curtis writing to you from my desk here at Living Proof.  It’s cold (relatively speaking) here in Houston today so I have a stocking cap on and a personal space heater right next to me.  Life is good!

I asked Beth if I could do a quick post to remind you about Passion 2011 in Atlanta, January 1-4.  Beth is speaking in a main session and I am leading a community group again this year.  We look forward to Passion every year and are so grateful to God to play our respective roles.

Passion is a movement led by Louie and Shelley Giglio inspiring the collegiate generation to live for the glory of God and the good of the world.  I was 17 years old when I first heard of Passion.  A college student from my church went to Passion ’99 and offered me two cassette tapes from the conference.  One was a message by Beth and the other was a message by Louie about David bringing the glory of God and the ark of the covenant back to Jerusalem.  I would sit in the parking lot after school and listen to those messages over and over again.  At the time I was trying to discern if God was setting me apart for ministry.  I remember thinking to myself that if I was called by God, I wanted the heart like the one I heard coming through those tapes.  Twelve years later I still want a heart like theirs.

That’s why if you have influence over an 18-25-year-old you should encourage them to come to Passion 2011.  Not just because of the amazing team of leaders (Louie Giglio, Beth Moore, John Piper, Francis Chan, Andy Stanley, Chris Tomlin, David Crowder, Christy Nockels, Matt Redman, Charlie Hall, and others), but because you want your 18-25-year-old to join in with thousands in their generation living for the glory of God and the fame of Jesus around the world.

Below is a link to the Passion 2011 website where you can find out all the details as well as a 2 minute video glimpse at what a Passion conference is all about.

Merry Christmas!

Curtis

How fun a post from you Curtis! What a great personality you have, I so want to be in that age group again and go myself…alas. This is the first I’ve ever heard about Passion and although we live in College Station I’m going to look into possibly the Ft Worth one ? for my 17 year old son, and at least check out the website and share it with him. Brent has been asking me to share with him Beth’s lessons I’ve been doing. We’re familiar with so many of the names you listed who will be there. I tell Brent all the time he has a purpose as God’s warrior in his generation, this sure sounds like a positive event. I would have loved for him to attend the one in Atlanta. I’ll be praying for all of you. Thank you Beth for giving us a glimpse of Curtis’ heart for God. I was blessed. Thank you Curtis for bringing it to our attention.

    Kate Hawk says:

    Wow!

Wish I had heard about Passion when I was that age. Maybe I could use a wig and get my self a ticket in!!

Curtis, I wanted to take just a minute to be able to say Thank you for coming to Ridgecrest to speak to us! The Holy Spirit spoke to me so clearly through your message. I had been praying for a long time for God to show me how I could speak insight and a little wisdom into a matter that has plagued our little church for a while now. Your testimony was exactly what I needed to hear, so I could go back and share it with our leadership team! Light bulbs came on as soon as I shared your story. So, thank you for your commitment hearing God’s voice, and following. Your faithfulness to just follow what God has for you has already impacted a little church here in Virginia!

Merry Christmas to the Moores, Jones’ and Fitzpatricks!!

May His Blessings and Favor pour out abundantly, the floodgates of Heaven be opened and pour out more than you can contain!

I have attended the last 4 conferences, and they have blessed and inspired me every time. I wish I was going to be able to make it this year, but instead I will be praying for you guys.

I will never forget Louie opening “the window” so we could listen in on the party in heaven with songs from every nation, tribe, and tongue. That was a powerful momement for me, and it opened my eyes so that I could see just how big His Kingdom is. I could get out of my chair at work right now and just start singing!

    Lynn at Barksdale AFB says:

I remember having professors at my university in California who were agnostic or atheist, back in the late 80s / early 90s. I had to do so many mental battles to make it through some of my classes, especially when “truth” came up in a law class or philosophy, etc. Having a solid church and Christian friends was the only way to erase the secular pounding! I am so excited this generation has this conference, God bless you all for obeying the call to minister! I will be in prayer for Passion 2011.

My now 23 yr old daughter, Alyssa, attended Passion 2005 with her youth group…it was there, at that conference that she completely gave her life over to Jesus and made Him Lord of her life. We are so grateful for this ministry…it changed the course of our daughter’s life, for she is now serving Him!

We have lived a very broken road for the last few years. My son always loved church, God, and lived for his church teen activities but we all lost a lot over the last few years, I let him down, he has lost his way. I feel so led that he needs to go to this but I just do not have the finances. My husband and I are digging our way out of a dark hole. My heart is heavy. I feel so led that he needs to go to this but I need intervention. I need Jesus to intercede and push my son through the door. Please pray for this intervention. He is a wonderful kid just feels so alone right now and he is so loved by his parents, his friends and God. Thanks

May we all desire to grow closer to Jesus.

I have a question– would I be able to take my daughter and I to passion 2011 in fort worth? She’s 15 but spiritually mature for her age. Is it strictly 18-25 year olds only? Can anyone answer this or know where I can get info about this?? Thank you! God bless!!
