The Inheritance

What an exciting day! We start our new Bible study – The Inheritance – tonight at Houston’s First Baptist Church. We would love for any of our Houston Siestas to join us. And needless to say, we covet your prayers as we kick off a new semester of Bible study. Please pray for God’s presence to be with us, for Beth to be anointed to teach, for the praise team to lead us before the throne, for our LPM staff and volunteers to serve in excellence and love, for our prayer team to be filled with the Spirit, for our attendees to arrive safely and park easily, and for God to be glorified all semester long. Our Bible study coordinator’s name is Jennifer Hamm in case you’d like to lift her up by name.

Those of you who attended the Siesta Fiesta in San Antonio might be interested to know that that weekend was the springboard for this semester’s study. Beth really wanted to expound on the theme of inheritance in Scripture. I know I’m going to be asked what kind of product might come out of this study and right now my only answer is that I have no idea! I’m confident that God will have His way though.

Here’s some info for anyone who would like to join us tonight.

Reminders about Bible Study…

-Homework is not available for this study.
-Please try to carpool in order to free up more parking spots for our sisters arriving late.
-Avoid traffic by coming early to eat dinner at the Garden Cafรฉ on-site. The cafรฉ opens at 4:45pm and serves everything from a boxed dinner, soup, or salad to a hot plate.
-Doors to the Worship Center open at 6 p.m. You may save two seats!
-The resource table is available in the main foyer before and after Bible study. Specialty coffee drinks are also available in the main foyer.
-Need to miss a week of Bible study? The previous weekโ€™s lesson is available to view in the chapel at 5 p.m. each Tuesday.
Click here for directions to Houstonโ€™s First Baptist Church and additional approved parking locations near the church. The on-site lots typically fill by 6:15pm. Plan to park at one of these garages if you are arriving after this time.

See you soon!

Many blessings on all the siestas beginning study together tonight! How I wish I could join y’all sometime and experience the fragrance of Jesus being poured out among you.

Yet, I am thrilled to have just finished the introductory session of Esther, and I AM PUMPED!!! It was fabulous.

So, until my husband sees the need to uproot us from where we live right now and establish us as residents of Houston, I will try to content myself with interaction via DVD. What a joy it is to hear the Lord’s voice speaking through Beth. My heart is full today!!

    Thanks for all y’all do!

If “homework is not available for this study”, does that mean there’s not a book to go along with the class? I’ve tried to call the Living Proof office and cant get an answer. Looking forward to this study. Thanks so much for all you do.

This whole concept blew me away in SA. Even now it overwhelms me. I just keep wondering why would He choose me, ME of all people, me a nobody. I just gotta say… after seeing all the posts, I feel guilty that I’ve never attended a live bible study. I’ve lived in Houston for over 3 years now and I’ve always wanted to attend a live study at HFBC, but never have. I live over by Lake Houston in the Atascocita/Kingwood area and I don’t know my way around that side of Houston very well. I think its about an hour in traffic from where I live, so I’ve never felt I could commit to facing the traffic on Tues nights. About the only time I head over to that side of town is when I can talk my husband into driving me to IKEA! Maybe someday… when the time is right, I’ll just jump in and do it! I take great heart that I get to do her study’s at my church and that this blog is here. I’ve never attended a live event, but I’m still sooo blessed by LPM!! Love ya guys!

    Heather says:

I wish that I could come and I live in Houston. We had spoken through e-mail and with just moving here a few short months ago, my husband is a tad nervous to let me out on the freeways alone! With not knowing where I am going and the surroundings and with still nursing a baby and all. Oh how I wish there was a way, I am totally bummed. Was really looking forward to this. Maybe I could get him to drive me. Praying for the Bible study tonight even if I can’t be there.

    Georgia Jan says:

Beth – Amanda & Melissa: When I saw the title for this study I was immediately taken back to the Siesta Fiesta and our journey as heiresses. I have re-read my notes over and over.

I had an Heiress experience that revealed itself last week. My sweet man took me to Savannah back before Christmas for a few days and while waiting to eat at Paula Deen's Restaurant (oh y'all…so good), we walked across the street to a little jewelry store. (I love jewelry – IT ALWAYS FITS!!!)

I picked out a pretty sterling silver ring and he bought it for me. Remember the rings made from heirloom silverware, "spoon rings." Well – that's what it was – very simple and so elegant.

Last Sunday at church I was twisting the ring and took it off. I just happened to look inside and it said "HEIRESS." I squealed out loud – oh yes I did – and then whispered when I realized I was in church – and said "yes, I am an heiress, and my boundaries fall in pleasant places. – thank you Jesus. It was a God STOP for me.

    Love y'all,
    Georgia Jan

I pray the Lord will bless this study for everyone in attendance, and for everyone involved in putting it together.

The ladies at my church in SC have just begun the Esther study and I for one am learning so much more about Esther and our God than I ever dreamed was possible….and we are just beginning week two tonight.

May God bless you each and everyone, wherever you are, and whatever you are doing in His service.

Cindy- My Life HIS Story says:

Okay, I just checked American…the only way out of Wichita Falls… $171 round trip. Every week for 10 weeks. I’ll have to take half a day off to get there and won’t get back until mid-morning on Wednesday. That uses all my vacation time. Maybe my guy won’t mind if I miss taking the youth to camp with him just one year.
Hmmm…meals, rental car, hotel…A second mortgage maybe…I hear interest rates are really low right now.

Okay, I’m guessing that Disney World might be cheaper – which is by the way my preferred ‘happy place’, but no Mouse could compare to MY INHERITANCE!!!! If this is going to be anything like what we heard in San Antonio last summer…I’m blue now. VERY blue.

Sidenote: Not believing this…the word verification – “torphit” as in torpedo hit. VERY blue.

I so wish I could be there….I’d carpool, not save more than 2 seats; I’d come early for the cafe boxed lunch and, for sure I’d order a specialty coffee in the main foyer…but writing from Florida…I just won’t be able to make it :} …instead I shall just pray God’s annointing on the study…changing hearts and blessing the lives of all who are there! God speed!!

OH WAIT, NEVER MIND!!!! I forgot Tuesday is our night anyway!!! We have over 30 women coming for Esther starting tonight…and I’m facilitating. Not so blue now with that rememberance! ๐Ÿ˜‰

I’ll pray for ya’ll – Please pray for us!

But if Houston were scheduled on a Thursday…definitely blue.

When I drove our boys to school this morning the thermometer read -13. And tonight the fire of the Holy Spirit will be blazing bright in TX, warming the depths of women’s souls through our sweet Beth – live. That’s it; we’re moving to Houston.

Okay, maybe not. My naturally curly hair, usually ironed flat, would be in a complete tizzy once summer hit.

But I will be praying for all of you! And I will NOT complain; I am so blessed to learn from and fellowship with Beth and all the Siestas BECAUSE OF DVDs, simulcasts, and blogs. ๐Ÿ™‚
