First Event of 2008 and A Party for the Tods

Can I just say that I’m so glad we have our first Living Proof Live event of 2008 this weekend? It is going to be in Vancouver. After the last event of 2007, I felt like the blog’s right arm was in a sling. We’ve had no commissionings, no video recaps, and no before and after comments from the local siestas! I’m ready for my mom to get back to doing her thang!

Since the conference is still a few days away and my mom is getting ready for Bible study this afternoon, I will share some pictures from Jackson’s second birthday. (Well it looks like we were blogging at the same time!) When I wrote the date in my prayer journal this morning, I realized it was my old due date. I don’t think about it much because 2/17/06 was The Big Day, but I did cling tightly to 2/26/06 for nine months. It will always be special to me. It was also the date of a very large, sold-out conference in Birmingham, Alabama. Lord, help us! Well, He did help us! God worked it all out and everyone was there for Jackson’s birth. I can’t complain!

We had a birthday feast for Jackson at Pappasito’s the afternoon after Melissa’s wedding. The servers brought out a sombrero and a brownie sundae to celebrate. They even sang him a song. At the very end when everyone clapped, he looked at me and said, “Mommy? Mommy? Whaaaaaaa!” It was so tragic. But he bounced back.

Then we played in a park.

You can walk a bit taller when you’re two.

Here are some pictures from Jackson and Ella’s joint birthday party at Pump It Up on Saturday. They are only two days apart and have all the same friends, so it worked out great!

Me and my boy in a bounce house.

Curtis and Jackson shooting hoops.

Jackson on a slide.

Janelle and I got a sneak peek of the party room before it was taken over by toddlers.

Do I even need to tell you who this is? In case I do, it’s Pablo from the Backyardigans.

A toddler birthday party takes a lot of moms working together.

Ella and Jackson having a snack.

Jackson really just wanted to play with the balloons.

We couldn’t wait to take a picture of the Tods in this fun chair. They were not as enthused about it.

Janelle and Ella, Jackson and me, and Sunni and Ava

We played hard.

Thank you so much for the pictures! Jackson is such a handsome young man! My grandson, Gavin who is 3 1/2, loves the Backyardigans so we know all about Pablo. I will pray for the LPL event that lives will be changed. Being in God’s word is what gives us strength for each day. Thank you for giving your life to tell us about God’s love, through your words and pictures. God Bless you! My Jackson continue to bring you more happiness than you can imagine. It helps us understand the love of God.

I’m coming to Vancouver! In just 21 hours, my darling best buddy and I will start our day in Seattle and end in Vancouver.

A Day in the Life of Road-Tripping to Living Proof Live:

    1. Drop our XL Tods (preschoolers) + our XXL Tods (2nd graders) at school…10 minutes early, just this once.
    2. Pile ourselves, our Bibles, our wristbands, our new spring outfits (never mind it’s cold and rainy), our hairspray, and some fine munchies in one car.
    3. MAKE THE MANDATORY STOP AT STARBUCKS!
    4. Get on I-5 and head to the Canada.
    5. Make the second mandatory stop at Starbucks, which has the dual benefit of being a pit stop. 🙂
    6. Check in the hotel, get dolled up, and head to PNE hours early, so we can join the line up, catch up on our Bible study homework, and start enjoying the fellowship of our other sisters in Christ.
    7. Go CRAZY when we see Beth and Travis. Pray and sing our hearts out!
    8. Praise Jesus over and over and over, for the incredible blessings of the day, for Beth, Travis, our sisters, and for HIS PRESENCE!

    See you tomorrow, dear Beth!

    Hi Amanda,
Looks like both birthday parties were so much fun. And I absolutely know who Pablo is from Backyardigans. Our 2-year old grandson just spent a week with us while his parents and big sister were in Italy and Noggin was his favorite channel to watch. I found myself singing, “What’s it gonna take – team work!” from Wonder Pets after he went back home and my husband said, “Oh no, now that song will be in my head all day again.” Grandparenting is a blast!!

AND I had the privilege of being at the LPL in B’ham when your mom announced the birth of Jackson and we all oohed and aahed right along with Beth!!!

Jackson is such a handsome young fella and I enjoy the pictures so much! Belated Happy Birthday, Jackson! Thanks for sharing.

    Love ya,
    Dianne aka Grammy

I was at the conference when she announced she was going to be a grandmother and told the story of the box on the porch with the dancing banners, that was so cool,Amanda! I remember that during a break she learned that a mother just found out her daughter was also pregnant and Beth asked where she was in the crowd when we were all back together. When the mother stood up and her pregnant daughter stood up beside her, Beth flopped down on the floor and sat there pouting because you were not with her and that mother’s daughter was there. She was so cute,we all got the biggest kick out of that!
I was also at the conference in Birmingham when she announced the birth of her grandson, Jackson and showed us all the pictures! Now I am beside myself at the realization that this precious little boy is already TWO YEARS OLD!!!!!!! and beautiful! Thanks for sharing his bithday pictures. it has been so much fun watching him grow up!
